Beta Weekend Scrapper Feedback Thread

Mindgame.7852

Ran a Scrapper with PVT build and used the gyros. Used Scrapper in Verdant Brink, PVP, Southsun. The Hammer worked well, I would start off with #3 jumping to the enemy, pound them with auto attack then swapped to Flamerthrower and burned them down. Had decent damage and sustain. I liked the Hammer.

Gyros – really need more work. Didn’t stay up long enough, cool down was a little too long, micromanaging them while in PVP was bothersome. The Stealth Gyro did not keep up well, but did provide a long stealth time. Less micromanaging of the gyros would be better in my opinion.

I see the Scrapper being used in PVP, WVW, PVE….some limited application in Dungeons for the stealth replacing thief.

Definitely need to tweak the gyros more.

I ran a full cleric Druid traited for Healing. I ran in Verdant Brink and Cursed Shores. I got good dps on the staff autoattack. Ancestral Grace proved to be cumbersome and I struggled with using it. When I was with a party I didn’t really need it when we were close. Might come in handy if I were trying to catch a fast moving party. No dps so I never used it at all.

As for moving with a fast party, in Cursed Shores, running with a farming group, I found that at times a high dps party killed enemy before I could cast many of the skills. However, I was told by other players that the heals were much better than a Cleric Guard using Shout heals.

Celestral Avatar worked well.

I liked the Pets and tested out the combo fields with a guardian and a elementalist and they worked well with stacking might. Of course I loved the bristleback and making it growth gigantic.

Over all I really loved the Druid and will most like run that build in HoT.

I roam Verdant Brink alone

Mindgame.7852

First let me say thief is not my main. I created a Daredevil thief to roam Verdant Brink and explore. Here are some of my observations using the testing format in the sticky thread.

Specializations – Daredevil and Berserker warrior builds

•Were they fun? – Yes and no. Yes it was fun to test out a new build, but no they were not exciting and really fun to play with at first. The Staff thief I found tedious and swapped weapons back to pistol pistol. Berserker got way better and more fun when I changed the build from meta zerker to condi, and got more survival.

•Did they Change how you play your profession in a meaningful way? – Only the Warrior, when I swapped builds to conditions.

•How were the improvements to the previous Specializations? (Dragon Hunter, Tempest, Chronomancer, Reaper) Sorry I did not attempt to play these builds again

•Feedback on new specializations, as well as any changes to the old – My main complaint is the heals on all professions just don’t seem to be working well. Bare in mind I am not one of those dodge here dodge there jump here evade there players. Even if I were I would run out of endurance long before I could get away. So I really rely on heals.

Creatures
•How is the difficulty of the new hostile mobs, and are they fun and exciting? – Hmmm…unlike many players I have read on the forums pleading not to nerf the op mobs, I do not enjoy dying or being knocked around like a ping pong ball only to die. If you are going to leave the mobs like they are then you need to add a few more waypoints in so you don’t have to run so far back to where you just were. As for the new creatures they are fine, but after nearly 2 years of fighting these hard to kill jungle vines I am exhausted.

World
•With the Opening of two new outposts, we are adding in a bunch of new events. Are they fun? – The events were ok as far as the plot of them, it’s the zergs and fighting that gets a bit cramped and hard to tell whats going on.

•Do the new events bring you more into the world? – Yes.

•Are the new events challenging, meaningful, and interesting? – I think so. But there is so much going on at once it’s a bit confusing and could be overwhelming if I was not use to zerg fights. You definitely do not want to attempt an event alone!

Mastery System
•How is the progression? Ugh!… I have 8 points and still trying to get enough exp to open the next level on gliding.

•How is it using the mastery abilities in the current area? After two days of running around Verdant I am getting better at gliding.

•Is the mastery system providing a meaningful area of progression? It’s sorta slow to open, get enough experience points to open.

•Do you care about experience and mastery points? Only to the point that I am hoping it makes it easier for me to play the game.

•Does it provide a good framework to add more masteries in the future? Too soon to really tell at this stage.

•Do you want to learn as many masteries over time to overcome challenges later in the future? Yes I would like that.

Finally I would like to say that at first the map and mobs and events in the expansion were overwhelming and confusing and not fun. But since I am spending more time exploring and trying new things and just not worrying about dying ( and you will die in this map easily), I have been enjoying it more. The map is still confusing and a little to busy with foliage and vines and vegetation that is difficult to see over.

Condition Warrior – I decided to try out a condi build on the warrior and stay in the beta map to see how well it would work. Had a little trouble with the trinkets as they would not swap from the zerker, except the amulet – used Dire on Armor and weapons and Rune of the Undead. Traits were Arms -3,3,2. Discipline -2,3,3. Berserker- 2,2,2. I used Sword/Torch and Longbow. I didn’t swap sigils so they were sigil of force and sigil of leeching and sigil of force and leeching on Longbow.
For skills I had signet of healing shattering blow and wild blow shake it off and signet of rage. I probably would swap out shattering blow for balanced stance as the mobs love to knock you down.

So I was able to hold my own in the beta map running solo for the most part. Wild Blow is awesome. Maybe Runes of Balthazar would give longer burns but the conditions worked well against the mobs except the riders with the spears. I was able to 1 v 3 of the frog men. I need to test it out in Central Tyria. But as far as Verdant Blink map I was much more able to survive and actually enjoyed playing the Fire warrior. Probably can tweak this build more to get better results.

BWE2 impressions:
1. Heals still not working very well. This might just be me, but on the revs, berserker and daredevil the heals barely heal for any amount. Are they suppose to be like that?

2. Daredevil staff auto attack animation is ….well frankly…lame. The other animations are meh. I think the Daredevil performed about as expected. I kit it out as knight/val armor zerk trinkets.

3. Fire Warrior appears to be more for a condi build instead of a Zerker build. I did kit it out as a full zerk gear and trinkets. I attempted to use the heal for the speciality, but it just wouldn’t heal enough and I kept getting downed. I went back to the healing signet and that worked better. The torch damage was lack lust. I used Axe/Torch. Then swapped to Sword/Torch, that performed better. Maybe a full on condi build with burning sigils and runes would be best for the torch build. The Utility skills were just meh.

4. The new map areas are nice, but I still have a difficult time navigating around. I get lost easy and it’s hard to tell if I need to go up or down.

5. Some mobs still op, I noticed at night they appear to be tougher than in the day time. I do not like running the map by myself.

6. Glider will not descend!!!?? Seriously. The only way I can lose altitude is to disengage the Glider and fall then re-engage. I’m still on the first phase of gliding so maybe that comes later?

Ok that’s all I have for the first day. I might come back and add some more after I test out a condi build on the warrior.

Mindgame.7852

so to be fair I went back to my Revenant and changed everything to Zerker. Using Hammer and Jalis, I went into Southsun Cove. This is where I test most of my builds.

Sadly the dps is still lackluster on Hammer even with all Zerk gear and Scholar runes. The AOE targeting is cumbersome and abilities you would expect to pack a wallop just does nothing. I didn’t even bother with mace/axe or Staff. Anyway, my original opinion stands. Other than the armor skin looking cool, I don’t want anything from the Revenant.

Mindgame.7852

So far I see that the Revenant has 0 dps and no speed. The hammer is too slow. I battle one v one in Eotm and did ok, but only due to my experience. Finally got dragged down and stomped. The heal was on cool down far too long. Some skills were blocked out, guess due to that low energy thing….LAME. I swapped over to Staff and ran with two other staff Revs against the Forge master and that took like forever to win on him.

Sorry but I won’t be playing Revenant much in WvW, PvP. Since I cant see my guildies I won’t be running dungeons. PVE ….again…no dps….too slow….

I will play with it some more…but the way it is at this point….I doubt I would even bother rolling one in the expansion.

I like Stronghold. One thing I did have problems with was channeling the hero. After we got the message that it was available the delay until you could commune was too long and then the commune itself seemed too long. But other than that if you have a team that knows what to do it’s great and fun. I would recommend reducing the channeling time a bit.

I have and am experiencing this error regular now since the Entanglement update. It appears to be worst while in the Dry Top map, but not limited to that map. It also appears to be worst during certain peak times. It makes the game completely un playable unless you have the patience to just keep reconnecting and or restarting your computer. I am certain it is not my computer as this was built especially to play GW2

Please fix this.

Mindgame.7852

Still bugged for me as well after whatever patch they did. I have tried moving my toons to other maps, logging out, logging in, even rebooting my machine. It’s really sad. I had just brought 3600 gems too. No dailies and the home nodes not resetting I could live with, but I cant craft any of the ascended stuff and not getting rewards on world bosses pretty much seals it for me…Guess it’s time for Titan Fall.

I am having the same issues…dailies not resetting, home instances of nodes not resetting. I also did not get chest reward at karka queen twice. I was one of the people affected by the bug that would not allow you to use chat, if that is of any help. I also normally park my toons in The Grove. I hope you get this fixed soon, it’s spoiling the game.

T6 Mats and How not to buy them all?

Mindgame.7852

You can make T6 mats in the mystic forge. For example you want Ancient Bones…it takes 50 large bones, one ancient bone, crystalline dust, and a philosopher’s stone. You get between 8-12 Ancient bones. There are similar recipes for each of the other mats. Some think its not worth it. But it has saved me gold cause I had lots of the lesser mats.

Mindgame.7852

I dont pretend to be very good at this game. I dont understand why a team of lvl 80 players with more than 1000+ hours of play and geared out in full exotics, with multiple exp in all the game dungeons would get bounced around like popcorn, knocked down and held down until defeat by ….adds? How is that FUN? I ask. It is more annoying than challenging. We did complete our post patch curious run, but honestly it wasnt very enjoyable. We kept wondering the whole time what this experience would be like for/with pugs. How is this a lvl 35? Who thinks that constantly being kicked around before you can even get back up is challenging? If the goal was to prevent AC farming…which btw… why would anyone care if exp players ran the dungeon in 10 minutes? Not everyone who plays this game has all day to run dungeons. 2.5 hours in a dungeon? Please shoot me! Seriously?

Newish Engineer with a few questions

Mindgame.7852

A build I used in pve and wvw that gave me high damage was rifle, grenade kit, rocket turret. Elixir H and B. Traits were 20/30/0/0/20. I also would swap that for 15/25/0/10/20 giving me a bit more survival in wvw. I found that the elite mortar didnt give me the range I wanted and the charrzooka was ok, but I really play the supply drop mainly. Artillery barrage was disappointing. My style of play was more defense oriented in wvw – seige monkey.

Just wanted to thank you for this build. I retooled my rifle charr engie to this after weeks of frustration in the Ruins of Orr and now have been able to stay up- mostly- against those annoying dozen chaining chilling stunning mobs….mostly. Cheers and again thanks for the build. Prybar to your face risen!!!!

Mindgame.7852

I started out as charr engineer-completely noob. Now I am lvl 80. I loved the rifle build and learned that a focus on power, precision and crit worked best for me. I did put points into vitality so I could stay up against mobs. basically my build was 15/25/0/10/20. The first one gives you power for high dps, the last gives you crit. You can up your vitality if you want to decrease crit. Look for runes/sigils/armor that give you power, precision, critical. When I went to Orr I had to change all this to a prybar tank build. But the first build got me thru pve.

Mindgame.7852

Malchor’s Leap was/is so frustrating to me. I get chained, and mobbed by 6 to 1 and once 12 to one at a skill point. I have about completed the map by running for my life, and ninja the skill points. Basic method of play has been run as fast as you can to a waypoint or poi, die and respawn, repeat and rinse until bored. I play charr engineer and got thru the first 70 levels are so on a rifle build. But it wasnt until I switch to a prybar tank build that I was able to half way remain alive long enough to do anything. I am frustrated and those players that have helped me along the way are frustrated. Basically I just want to complete the world so I can go back to someplace less miserable.
