Having a Paragon as a primary, DoA was about the only dungeon that I could ever really get into a pug to to run. It was fun enough, even if it got to be a bit grind-y after the first few times completing it.
I can see how GW2’s Fractal dungeon takes off from (and improves upon) DoA, though. Separate areas, different scenarios and enemies, all linked together…yet the concept of these areas being ‘shards’ of Tyrian history allows the developers to add new content, introduce lore that doesn’t fit into the core game, and try out new mechanics.
Hilarious! I want one for a pet.
Given that the Lion’s Court fountain and the Lighthouse have been destroyed in the last two events, perhaps the Lion’s Arch Chamber of Commerce can sponsor an effort to rebuild these pieces of civic pride and history? Call it “Restore the Roar” or something equally cheesy.
If Zommoros can be talked into supporting relief efforts for those impacted by the Lost Shore events, maybe he can find it in whatever passes for a Djinn heart to help this out as well…items commemorating the founding of the city, a karka-meat cookbook, “I Went to Southsun Cove and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt” townwear, Lighthouse stone trinkets, whatever.
Thoughts?
All in all, the zone looks nice, but beyond that there’s no real point to it unless you want to do the jump puzzles, get some extra nodes, or fight overpowered enemies. It just doesn’t have anything special compared to Orr.
Seconded. I can’t find a reason to care about running around this zone after the first time through. Maybe there will be more of a tie-in in the future…
Yeah, one-time events were one of a number of poor design decisions made in this content roll out. You cannot promote an event of this supposed magnitude and then structure it in a way that excludes-or-greatly-inconveniences a fair percentage of your customers.
Or, you can, but expect those customers to be fairly kittened off. There’s a lot of reasonable suggestions in these threads on how to make the game experience better. I hope ANet seriously considers these suggestions.
I’m greatly disappointed. Waste of my time, waste of my in-game resources (coin, donation items), and waste of my brainpower trying to figure out what’s happening. A complete clusterkitten, which is shocking because Anet usually doesn’t kitten things up this badly. This has been the worst content rollout that I’ve seen in all the years I’ve been playing Guild Wars; quest design, game mechanics, code stability, issue communication – all poorly executed. Lousy decisions made from design to post-deployment support.
I understand that y’all were attempting to do something different, but please don’t make these same choices again.
Yeah, me too. All Halloween special events show maxed/Completed, still at 4/5 for Emissary title.
