About the points for each mach: ok I admit I am frustrated: you play the best you can, you hold 2 people on one point without using even a bunker build, you have the maximum score… but your team does not capitalize the numeric advantage, and you loose a pip.
I perfectly now that the best score in the team does not really mean you were the best player, but it is terribly frustrating to lose the same amount of positions no matter how you play.
Just getting 1/-1/1/-1 is already unnerving, but when everything is based on pure luck you really start thinking to stop.
I played other games with similar systems, and maybe because the point range was much higher ( like from -15 to max +15), even if I was an average player I managed to reach good-mid division without getting mad.
Maybe we need more variability, maybe we need more personal score, and I really hope that things will get better in a few days, but right now I am not convinced

Deathly Chill
Change the trait so that…

I dont think this would happen because then fear/blind could cause 4 condis constantly when traited and chill would always have a cover condi buffer.

Yes I see the potential problem, however is not like the necro is not able to put multiple condition at once, so I do not think it would be that huge imbalance; after all we are discussing a grand master trait.
A different way to solve this would be to make applying chill to do damage instantly, instead of chill itself doing damage over time. The damage should be balanced obviously, but still could scale on condition damage attribute.

Deathly Chill
Change the trait so that skills applying chill does also applies an additional damaging condition, like poison, instead of changing chill functionality.
I think this would help conditions build a lot, making the trait work much more consistently in the various situations.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

I completely agree with the OP, I think it is the most balanced opinion I have read on the topic this morning.

The price itself is not a problem for me… I mean, I payed more for single player games that required probably the same hours to play HoT story alone.
What is really missing is a character slot for existing accounts. This would reasonably balance think for old players, and new players would still have the nice “extra”.
Please Anet consider this!

I have mixed feelings. The instance was interesting and well made. The map is initially difficult to navigate, but in reality it requires only some minutes to understand how to move.
Initially however it reminded my the confusion of Kaineng in GW1, which is not good.
My real problem was that it was not clear at all what to do in some cases. For example the “challenge” in the pit in the southern ruins, were you have to salvage stuff while bombarded.
One general issue was that I was playing revenant for the first time, and the default build is not exactly efficient. Probably with a “better” pg everything will be much more enjoyable.

imo Stronghold would be better 10v10

I think that having more things to do than the available player is what makes this new map interesting. 10vs10 would mean that all roles are covered at the same time and strategic decision would be less important

You mean like soccer, football, rugby are unorganizable zergfests with multiple players for the same role etc?!?

You have a point here, but I mean something a bit different.
If you have 10 people, leaving one at the treb will always be a good idea probably. Having a choice instead will add diversity to games, because sometimes there will be heavy treb game, sometimes no treb at all.
For sure, it is possible to have different strategies with 10vs10, but it will be more on the line of wich classes / how many classes do I use in the specific role, not which roles should be covered or not.

Well he probably not know about many guilds in wvw able to organize every evening more than 20 players, and organizing scrim between opponent guild on the moment ^^

I know wvwvw very well, but I am talking about a different layer of strategy, the one that you usually see on a RTS.

I had a few shots with a support guardian, and I had a lot of fun escorting the offensive npc.
The only real suggestion I have, as also someone else stated, is to punish more for death. Considering the number of things going on, a longer respawn or some penalty on life points like on gw1 could bring more come-back moments if the loosing party get a few kills at the right moment

Sylvari: Anet was planning this since 2007

Personally I was not a supporter of the “sylvari are dragon minions” theory and there were not solid profs before last episode, but honestly we can admit that the whole reasoning against the theory had some fallacies.
The main difference from other dragon minions is the lack of magic absorbing stuff, but this remained me something: imagine you take a trip around the world, and you see all kind of mammals, until you find this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platypus

Or more in general, we should remember that not all swans are white
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falsifiability

The interesting question is why sylvari have this difference.
Obviously from the writing point of view making them absorbing magic creature would have made the mystery of their origin a bit too obvious ( even if again this guy is not a bird http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platypus), but in a in-game perspective I think there are two possibilities:
- they were meant to be different for some reason (i.e. Mordy decided so)
- the Pale Tree decided to make them this way.

Both options are intriguing to me

“On the fourth day, delirious with hunger, Saul emerged from the trees to see what he thought was a hallucination—a city of massive towers reaching into the heavens.”
Like someone else, the vision really made me think to this…

But I suppose we really have no elements yet

I do not know if anybody noticed, but there is an interesting thing that Aerin sasys after the first encounter in “Cornered”:
“Unhappy times. Unhappy. Must find the master. Yes you are right. Must not let them stop me”.
It looks like he is speaking to someone, or something else. Maybe the “entity”?

“ANet needs to start giving some answers and solid lore, not just speculation upon more speculation.”

They did. It was the investigation with Marjory at the Dead End. It doesn’t seem like solid lore because it was shallow and unconvincing. I still feel that 95% or more of the Dead End investigation will be the final word on the matter.

Chasing clues by omissions has been a waste of time so far. The Pale Tree never did anything about Scarlet because … because …. it wasn’t in the story. No more to be said.

I do not agree completely. Anet put a lot of efforts in details ( just think to all the minor dialogues around the world, even not related to the story).
While for sure what was said during the investigation must be considered true, a lot of things were left unresolved with a purpose, not because they forgot about it.

I agree with Konig, there are a few things that do not convince me at all.
The simplest hypothesis, i.e. Scarlet manipulated by Mordremoth to help it to wake up, sounds strange to me. All the other dragons followed a different pattern: rise a champion that siphon “naturally” magic for their master to help them. Here we would have a dragon that make an engineer to build a giant machine.
What I also think is weird is that Anet did not make the PC and NPCs discuss about the entity in the last dialogue. I know this is not a legit lore argumentation, but if the whole entity think was just Mordremoth convincing Scarlet to help him why not tell us already? It is something everyone expects, it would not add anything to the story at this point.
The Maguma was the last retreat of the White Mantle, but we never discovered why exactly. It was also the place where we have seen the last living Mursat… very convenient there is also a dragon!
Personally I would love to see Lazarus back, but I am trying to keep my hopes low…
What I think is interesting is the secret Scarlet said to know about Caithe… something “nasty” she did. If the entity is Mordremoth, I can not see many things Caithe could have done. If the entity is Lazarus, maybe Caithe in her travels found him or helped him involuntary.

I do not pup up here frequently, but this time I must say good job Anet! The story-telling is improving, I just hope you will keep it on this track!
