It’s great you let us explore the Shining Blade Head Quarters, but why can we not have an instance like the Dead End we can use for it after the fact?
Is it that hard to throw the RP community a bone?
Anet, you’ve had this game running for over three years now, so I have to ask.
How much longer are we going to wait to have a patch day where you can actually do the new content without crashing out or lagging to the point of being unable to do anything on Patch day?
You know what the server loads are. You’ve had plenty of chance to stress test (using us as guinea pigs) to see what is required for these things to go smoothly. Do you just not care?
Seriously. Some amount of lag is expected, but for it to regularly be so bad that the game is unplayable the first day? Come on. Get your act together.
Stuck with this bug myself. Quite irritating. Tizlak just follows me, tried back tracking and doing all kinds of strangeness to trigger him but nothing
You do realize that game development companies are often Heavily compartmentalized? There is a high chance that those involved in the forums do not have access to all the details on specific subjects. That is why there is often no response or just a vague and general one, and why we often see Dev updates outside of the official channels on sites like reddit. Those who are assigned to respond on forums do not want to give misinformation about a subject and those who are in the know share outside of official forums.
Is it a perfect System? Far from it. But minimal to no Communication doesn’t necessarily mean the matter isn’t being worked in.
As I stated before, things sometimes take time and I would rather a bug be fixed right than to have a ‘fix’ break something else.
Workarounds are not always possible depending on the problem. If there were a way to activate the knocking out of the guard a different way, the bug likely would be fixed by now. The only other option is outright skipping this part of the story in the meantime which would cause further complaints by skipping a rather pertinent section of the lore.
When you go to knock out the mob it throws you into combat and that is why it does not work as due to the mechanics of the instance being in combat means you cannot knock things out. So even if you skipped this mob you would run into the same error at the final boss (as you can kill all the other mobs needs be).
As for it blocking progress I am very much aware, but really. Would you rather a rushed fix be done to get people playing right away that potentially breaks something somewhere else? Or is it not better to give the time for a proper fix. We as consumers do not know the back end of what is happening. And yes, it can look a certain way from where we stand, but were we not all taught as children to consider both sides of a story before passing judgement?
Alright, normally I stay out of the kitten fits but I feel inclined to say something.
To the people claiming this bug is a year old;
No. It isn’t. Just stop. It’s not even 3 weeks old yet. Chill out.
To the people witching about the colour being fixed first:
Let me tell you a little thing about coding games. Fixing a broken code for colour is a hell of a lot easier than fixing a code for interactivity. That does -not- mean the fix isn’t being worked on. How many of you have ever poured over line after line of coding to find the specific change or error responsible. It takes time to locate and even more to create a change that won’t negatively impact something else. Take a breath and chill.
General note to all being negative complainers;
Half of what you’re complaining of has been stated and spoken about earlier in the thread. Please read back before going back in the same circle (this goes especially to people claiming this bug is a year old. Yeashka)
Bottom line is just breathe. Fixing a bug in a program isn’t as simple as replacing a part in a car. It just isn’t.
There is plenty still to do in game, complete some achievements. Do some of the events in other map zones (there is lore and story there if you actually read) or just find a Guild and start playing with other people. Really, not a crisis situation.
Signed

The way I see it, Anet has been slipping on the Aesthetics front for a while. First they remove ‘Town Clothes’ and give us useless tonics, they don’t even replace the ‘Town Clothes’ with outfits, which would have made sense given the switch to outfits.
Then they take full Armor skins off the Gemstore and only give the option of Outfits.
Now they’re bundling to make those outfits cost even more?
At what point is Anet going to listen to what people are saying. A happy customer is more likely to spend more and do so repeatedly than one that’s feeling ‘forced’ to buy things they don’t particularly want/need to get something they like.
Dear Anet;
I logged in today to see a well designed new skin on the outfit store, but much to my dismay it seems to be bugged. The bandit sniper skin seems to be only available as some kind of ‘bundle’ with items that people seldom actually want or need. To add to this, there is the ‘coding error’ where it will not allow you to gift the overly cluttered package to other people. BUT I have a suggested fix!
Return the Outfit skins to how we used to know and love them, as stand alones that you can not only purchase for 700 Gems as opposed to this ‘bundle exclusive’ at 2000 gems but make it giftable to others as well.
It has been proven through many other industries that though bundles can provide great value to consumers, leaving the entirety of the bundles interest as bundle exclusive items does nothing past put people off purchasing. Certainly there may be those who drop the full bundle price out of fear they won’t be able to get the items as a standalone, but for every person who caves to that fear there are more who will back off making the purchase, much less making it for themselves and friends who perhaps cannot afford the skin at the moment. I know I was intending to purchase five copies were it not in the bundle. Perhaps offering both options is the ideal route?
Thank you though, for taking the time to review this obvious oversight. I would hate for people to start thinking the aesthetics are being abused as nothing more than a cash grab to gouge those who are interested in alternate looks for their characters.
Sincerely;
One of many rather irritated consumers.
P.S. You can keep deleting this thread Anet, it is in no violation of the ToS, not for language nor content.
P.P.S. Thank you for just moving the thread this time and not outright deleting.

Honestly, one of the things I would like to see would be rather simple to impliment. For guild rosters and the friends list allow people to see what IP for what Zone people are in. It would, at a glance let people know if they needed to ask for a Taxi to find their friends.
If nothing else it would do wonders for trying to keep the RP community together and make it easier to figure out where people are for World RP instead of constantly being trapped in the cities.
Actually I am in game right now and I just checked on all the outfits I have and you can only hide the head piece. Infact I’d honestly like many of the outfits more if I could hide the shoulders.
I believe part of why outfits are more ‘popular’ at times is it gives people options that their classes wouldn’t normally be able to appear like. A heavy wearer in a fancy dress in the case of the Noble set and a light in what would appear to be a medium coat. For people, especially the RP community that can be beneficial.
However! Overall, there is still outcry for a higher desire amongst those I speak with and am in contact with for the Armor Skins as opposed to the outfits. Every demographic is going to have different desires. But I do agree with the OP that there needs to be some sort of Shift. The sheer number of outfits being released in comparison to Armor skins is horribly imbalanced. Yes we got the Carapace/lumi set and the Glorious, but lets not forget that in relatively recent times we lost all those old SPvP skins as well. And given that we lost more sets than we gained… well you can see where some people are getting frustrated here. As well, I have a hard time counting the Carapace and Luminescent Skins as two different sets as one is really just a glowy recolour of the other.
I think that what they really need to do is find a way to get us back those old skins they removed and then focus on keeping a balance between the outfits and the armor skins that are being released. I know it is impossible to make everyone happy, but with the sheer amount of outcry over this topic, it is clear there does need to be a shift.
Just giving a small nudge as the entire topic vanished in a matter of seconds under the April fools spam
I would agree to the idea of outfits in the Gemstore and armor in game, if they gave us more than one armor set a year. I mean honestly the Carapace is the only PVE armor in the entirety of Season two and same for the Glorious. And for the Glorious they also took out the previous PvP exclusive skins… So….
Again they need to balance the Ratio. Because again One armor Skin to Six outfits is a bit disheartening for one years worth of Bi-Weekly updates
Yes I agree that outfits have a role, but when ALL new skins are outfits, it takes away from the feeling of customization in the game. If for every armor skin we are getting half a dozen new outfits…. well. You can see where that leads to.
I will never endorse getting rid of the outfits, but many of the outfits could easily be done as the armor skins.
Give us both please! This lack of customization that the Armor skins offers is disheartening. I for one, do not want my character looking like a recolour of everyone elses just to have some of the newer pieces.
Ugh, I am getting tired of the outfits frankly. I used to love the character customization…. and well… clearly that is going the way of the dinosaur. Just proves the Devs aren’t really reading these threads with how unhappy people are about the endless stream of outfits and lack of actual armor skins /shrug
I have been watching the progression of the Megaserver IP selection thing for a while now and one thing has always struck me as an option that was perhaps overlooked.
We all want to play together with our friends and guildmates, but outside of poking everyone for a Taxi, we rarely know if we are on the same IP as them or not.
Thus I propose a simple addition to the game, as an option when hovering over the name of a friend on the friends list or Guild Roster, why not have it show the IP they are currently occupying along with the Zone? If nothing else it will make it easier for people to be able to find each other, know when they need to ask for a Taxi and any number of other things.
This may seem pointless, but there is something to be said for just randomly popping in on a friend mid event or mid activity in general with a great big ‘SURPRISE’ that has been lost since the addition of Megaservers.
I can also say that I feel this is a small alteration that would be greatly appreciated by the RP community as a means to help keep the RPers together outside of Major city Hubs.
Just food for thought you know?
I would like the answer to why Tonics instead of Skins. I mean, I really can not understand the reason why myself and it seems like the Devs have been avoiding that answer for a while. And as they were able to refund the clothing for the tonics, why can they not just fix it and trade in the tonics for the skins? Make people happy once more?
Might I also note on the point that RPers are here and are neglected. If you even look at these forums subsection names there are places for everything BUT RP.
Us Roleplayers are here but we are not even awknowledged. We pay money just the same as everyone else but we don’t even get something as simple as our own forum thread? Much less any consideration in game changes. Apologies if that sounds harsh but it is the truth of the matter. I know A large number of RPers who dump hundreds of dollars into the gemstore for items for appearance and what not and yet existence is forgotten. I know we make up a small population, but to those saying we need to get out there more and do things if we want to be recognized and be considered in changes…. well…..
Yes these are sore spots, but really though this was not the intention of the update as things were broken. In the end by restricting further what we have found for ourselves, it is only rubbing the salt in the existing wound that RPers and the relatively simple things that keep many of us happy, really isn’t considered in any of the changes made in GW2.
Oh I know they are. But if people never speak up on the matter of buildings and such things being taken away as a side result of fixing other things, how will they really be aware that people are -wanting- those things? Yes, complaining may not get anywhere, but it has a better chance of making the idea known than just sitting around being quiet because it was only a side result.
Well I’m personally not asking to roll back an exploit fix. More referencing that this was a use of such exploits. Is there not a way to allow us access to those places that we are wishing to use that really doesn’t break the game.
Is using uninstanced Salma Game breaking? I don’t see how. Is using the building at Smugglers Cove Game breaking? Again I do not see it. Both places are fully furnished and functional save for having doors. There are several others like taht as well.
With the Megaservers it is hard to have it open as it has to be pre-arranged with bringing people from shard to shard. But I can tell you there is often some people in at least one shard of Kessex. LA if you get the right shard has some open RP. I have seen it in many of the outposts around Celadon. Part of the problem is the Megaservers and part is where we can plant our characters for long periods of time without having to stop every few minutes to kill mob respawns. There is much outcry -for- open world RP, but there are barriers against it.
You claim you have not seen it, but it is there. It is just a pain to find at times because of the hoops that we have been forced to jump through. AkA if you don’t know someone doing it at the time, you’re like SOL
As one of the people mentioned in the above groups (RPer) This “Fix” Does not work for me. The use RPers used that for was to get inside of fully furnished buildings that for whatever reason were in the game. We used them as character homes, Taverns, Labs and any number of other things. We used them to make the world larger and more fullfilling.
Which makes me ask the Question, why even have these furnished buildings within the world and not grant us access? If you are going to take away our means to get into these places, perhaps also think of an edit to open the doors? Between the mobs from the scaling (Which I personally have no problem with because Yay scaling) And the limited number of cities and even fewer buildings with open doors, we RPers have (Which are constantly being fought over for use as there are so few) How about you simply open a door to those buildings that are… well…. in the world and fully furnished?
I don’t know, perhaps this is just going to be waived off as more whining, but really? RPers using those buildings weren’t hurting anyone. They weren’t breaking the game. It wasn’t exploiting anything.
We as RPers have been given a world where we sink through furniture, we cannot sit on couches or tables or ledges without risk of sinking right through. The chairs are laughable in that regard. But we roll our eyes and move forward. We have been given a world with half a dozen buildings we can use for RP and thousands of RPers. We are all in competition for places to go. The new clothing that comes out, is all in outfits and not amour pieces we can mix and match. You are taking away our ability to differentiate our characters visually from each other. You gave us megaservers where we have to play ‘hide and seek’ and harrass our friends lists to find RP if we want to go outside of the main city, which might I add we often need to be ported into anyway a good deal of the time. (Though I can admit to understanding the PvE reasonings behind this change)
Aside from the dyes becoming account bound and the Wardrobe System there really have been no changes to this game that have done anything but Hurt the RP community. And now this.
So yes, I am being repetative and long winded, but I would really like the answer. In what way was using this game breaking? And if there is a reason it is Game breaking, why can’t you just open a door to the buildings we are using so that they are not lost to us?
tl;dr thank you for once again giving the RP community the shaft and please look at giving us access ‘properly’ to those areas we love.
(To Clarify I am not speaking on anything past accessing the buildings that are there and unused. Anything else that can affect the gameplay of others I agree with being blocked. Dungeon exploits etc)
Thank you for the link. I did listen through and it didn’t really touch much on what I was hoping for. But again thank you for the effort.
As an avid Role player the question of what laws are what often comes into play. So I was curious. What culture/time period is Krytan law based upon. It would really clear up a lot of confusion and back and forth with speculation. Further to that, is it an environment, where any person, military/citizen/or visitor would be able to be charged for a crime without a hearing? Any answers to such questions would be phenomenal as it would be great to get the community on the same page.
We’re not going to get an official acknowledgement. They’ve responded to threads with far less replies and this one is still sitting here with nothing. They see it as an RP complaint and as we all know satisfying the RPers is the low rung on the ladder.
Just giving a little niggle as I would hate so see this issue fall through the cracks
One can only hope. You know, with the launch of Archage in a few days, they chose a really bad time to be ignoring outcry about such matters. Just food for thought Anet.
(edited by Morsheira.6102)
I really think the Devs need to go play a couple other MMO’s before making changes like this. Ensure they are at least staying on Par with how the competition is functioning.
This. Just all of this. I applaud you for how well you have worded and conveyed every sentiment I feel about the situation. So please Anet, pay attention. We are begging you not to forget the RPer community.
Morsheira.6102: Morsheira.6102 asks you to please take a look at how this truly appears.
Oh I am in no way stating we are asking too much, infact we rarely ask for anything in this game. However it seems to be the simple fact that in RPer requests being ignored on such a frequent basis, if we keep asking for a variety of things we’ll never get them. Because you know, RPers most certainly don’t over-spend at the gem store just for pretty things for their characters. No. Never Player A: Player A is being sarcastic.
Perhaps if we wish to be heard we need to keep the wishlist simple. This time around, just fix the whole custom emote whatever they thing they did so we can at least not break our immersion with every post we try to read. Really it is an assault on the visuals.
Again, us RPers are often laughed away but it is immersion breaking and as RP is one of the ways the game can be enjoyed, I feel as if such a simple matter to fix shouldn’t be neglected. Especially as it will make a lot of people rather happy.
Sadly if you ask for too much at once you aren’t likely to get anything. So for the moment lets just stick with the issues of Player A: Player A is getting sick of the cluttered coding.
Morsheira.6102: Morsheira.6102 continues to dance around waiving flag. This truly needs to be fixed!
Player A: Player A needs to think someone from the team needs to take a good long look at how this appears. Lets play spot the redundancy. If this was a school project, they’d have failed. Just saying.
Aye, we need this changed back. As well if people post on their sentiments on their facebook and twitter feeds it may get our voices heard faster. Clearly there are very few happy with this change and the only way corporations listen is if they don’t get any peace about a matter.
If you ask me this is more confusing than the old way. Really it’s just tacky looking, there’s nothing else to it.
This Player: This Player thinks that this new custom emote system makes no sense.
Because I am strongly believe Devs only listen to the squeaky wheels and I truly wish to see this fixed. I am bumping to keep on the front page. Afterall, such a sub par system should not exist in an MMO in 2014
Going to just give this a little nudge back to front an centre. Apologies for the annoyance to anyone reading the whole way down.
Every other MMO I have played has had /e blockable but hasn’t had such a redundant and sloppy looking format. Visually this just appears to be lazy coding.
A lot of people are unhappy about it. As I said before no other MMO has such a clumsy and awkward system. It seems almost as if they no longer wish to compete with the industry and are happy being a subpar product.
The emote system needs to go back to what it was if not the /say format of NAME: Emote
There are several areas where this game is lacking in comparison to others. The unusable furniture, huge distances between your character and inanimate objects, the armor clipping… the list goes on. But really the text thing, being so basic and simple, I just cannot understand why it is an issue and nowhere near comparable to other MMO’s. Don’t get me wrong, Anet has done many amazing things with this game, but many things really seem rudimentary that have been completely overlooked.
And with the constant additions to MMO selection, to remain even a viable play option, they need to strive to remain at least on par.
So Dev team, listen up, Fix this text. You’ll only be benefiting yourselves.
They really need to look at the amount of redundancy in this. Any other MMO I’ve played I’ve been able to block other players without having such redundancy as displayed here. It makes it look like a sub par MMO as opposed to a comparable and recent game. Heck older games with less put together systems have succeeded with this one thing
While we’re at it perhaps we can get them to change the inactivity timer to be disabled by text as well winks May as well throw that request in there while we’re waiving our arms crying “RPers Exist! Please Help Us!”
But in all seriousness, there is no reason that the custom emote system needs to be so redundant.
(edited by Morsheira.6102)
I fear it will be brushed under the rug. The devs will likely just sit there and give a generic ‘works as intended’ response and ignore the rest of us. RPers sadly are in this MMO and many others treated as second class players and though that comment will likely be met with some amount of outcry it is true. We are a smaller base than the PvEers or the PvPers but we are still a decent sized base. However that is digression into another issue. Point is if it were something that caused the large PvP base to complain or those in dungeons it would be acted upon immediately, but as it only affects RPers…. eh they’ll ignore it.
I agree as well. I would much rather see the custom emote in /say format than having to deal with the name twice. Other large MMO’s have made it possible to both ignore people and not clutter up the chat with double naming, why can we not have that here? Please find some way to fix this, the RP community is begging for this one.
