Anvil Rock managed to Queue three maps last night. I am sure FC and DR had a couple of queues as well. We are all the way down in T7. NA bronze is going to be a close race.
Server like fighting us. Are you MAN or woMAN enough to strike while the MANvil is rocking? Join us today if you want a challenge.
MANvil Rock solid here! I have seen wvw refugee’s and a few new guilds here as well.
If I could make an argument for a Bronze league server…AR was left for dead at the start of season 1. By utilizing a server wide TS and playing tenacious defense, we managed to place 5th in Bronze league. Now we face the same uphill battle as before except servers will not underestimate of us at the start of season 2.
For a Bronze league server we do have a strong OCX/SEA presence yet NA mornings your guild will have their hands full. NA prime during resets can be rough but steady after that. Bronze isn’t the ghost town it is perceived to be and AR would appreciate the help at those times.

The general AR wvw community has to have some roaming skills. Guild runs don’t exceed anything more than 30 people unless pugs follow our guild drivers. Only one guild can manage around 30 players on a good night. The other impact wvw guilds can average around 15 the majority of the week but not throughout all hours of the day. An eight person squad that can occupy a force of 20+ is a huge help in my honest opinion.
Season 1 brought the best out of AR after we crashed and burned to T8. In order for AR to compete with servers like FC/SF/DH/DR AR would need to gain guilds that can field a consistent 15+ in the following time slots:
2+ NA guilds-Any AR player knows how rough reset can be. Of the T6/7 servers we probably have the weakest NA in terms of guild/zerg fighting groups.
and/or
1+ EU guild-I would say this is when we bleed the most points. Usually it’s Oceanic/SEA players that stayed up late or NA players that play early, either way we don’t have enough against servers like DH/FC/ET. Then again what NA server doesn’t need EU guilds?
and/or
1+ Oceanic/SEA guild-Now everyone and their quaggin cousin knows that AR has a good overnight crew. Credit towards the NA players that stay-up during this time slot to help with defense and pvd. An extra guild would help inflate our ppt so the NA morning wouldn’t be so rough.
We place an emphasis on defense and use guerrilla tactics to get things done when our population can’t match those of our opposition. Pug commanders coming here must realize they can go from a havoc squad to a full on zerg hour to hour. Guile and gusto are the MANvil Rock way!

Rebuild with defense. Take what you have and don’t over extend what you can’t defend. Know when servers are weak and when to ride the coat tails of another dominate server. The most important thing is getting the puggies into the server TS. Ebay’s numbers atm, according to mos, look as if it would be a close match between ET and Kain.
IMO Anet should axe T8/9 in EU and T8 in NA. Give those players a free transfer up T5/6.
No complaints coming from the bottom servers. From rank 13 (HoD) on down the tiers are scrabbled up every week. In the last four weeks AR has fought 7 different servers (Kain, DR, NSP, FC, DH, ET, SF).
I propose Anet should just make world rankings. To be in T1/T2 NA/EU you need “enough” 24/7 coverage to be in that high of a tier. There is already coverage discrepancies in T3 NA/EU and below so playing outnumbered outside of server primetime isn’t something new . Also it would promote more balance given a couple of months because more NA players would look to play on EU and EU on NA servers. A drastic solution would be just to get rid of Tier 8 altogether but that would cause people to flat out quit the game. Instead the last 3 servers in bronze league after Season 2 should get kicked off the island. Those players can get a free transfer to any server of their choosing.
Anet needs to do something before ESO comes out. Elderscroll games are glitchy upon release and I can only imagine how bugged out an online version would be but that is not going to stop GW 2 players from checking it out.
You didn’t see T7 until Warmachine and a boatload of transfers got you out of T8. Enough to get kaineig to T2. Kudos on bringing back some smack talk. I personally wanted to see gif wars but we will feed you.
It is a running joke in TS about numbers we get in transfers. Really no one knows and we haven’t gotten that big wvw guild to “carry” our server. We are getting the refugees of wvw. A few people here and a few people there. Anyone that comes over to AR will understand our defensive priority. ET and DR were class acts when they lost to us and GoM thought we got huge numbers because…we beat ET and DR. Come on man! Bob you really think people transferred over by the truck load after beating those servers (no disrespect to ET and DR). Again refer back to our match ups and you can see steady improvement. We have never denied transfers, we just don’t know how many we have. Why can’t people admit that we stepped up our game? In that regard yes everything has changed. Our attitude, our coverage, our TS usage, our zerg busting, our defense, our offense, our reset nights etc…have all changed since we last fought SF. Just admit it…or maybe you can transfer over here and we can teach you guys how to play in wvw (lol I just kidding but sounds familiar right).
StaR gg on the Garrison cap last night. If we didn’t have SF inner garrison down to 15% maybe more people would of came back to stop you. After the garrison race we managed to cap OL. I thought maybe you guys would come for it but whatever. Cheers to the rest of the week!
As a third wheel in a match like HoD/DH or HoD/FC it would be tough to get 2nd let alone trying to get 1st. The difference is we just don’t have that consistent 20+ zerg fighting wvw/pvx guild. We have a few guilds that can just not on a day to day basis. Most zerg vs zerg fighting comes from our TS militia squad.
A DH/FC match would be still be a tough match but a little more in our favor. Maybe even an AR/SF/GoM match because both servers would be out for blood. If it does happen I am going to already claim double team haha! We all want to see a HoD/IoJ/NSP match. So we can get an idea of how HoD really stacks up in silver had they made the cut.
SF beats us in prime time NA no doubt. Too bad wvw doesn’t cater to prime time numbers. AR has kept both kain and SF keeps in their bl away from upgrades this entire reset weekend. Every night when our NA players stay up late to help our oceanic players out, we have kept our T3 keeps/towers. So it minimizes our overall coverage. AR is a server of opportunity. The score will only get more inflated once the weekdays arrives because like we have said….AR gets better as the weekdays come. Regardless of the pvd talk, in theory we at AR believe that we can attract more wvw people by not losing our ptt to night capping. A lot of our NA players understand SF coverage gap and take advantage anytime we get. So after all the SF smack talk in week 2 of season 1, we at AR are hungry to show we can compete against servers in an overall wvw fashion. When we night cap SF/kain it is due to server determination…not 100% oceanics transfers.
@El Cid….you had multiple people from AR telling you to join our server TS last night. I was the TS eternal commander and tagged down so our numbers weren’t split to follow you. I heard we had 122 people in TS in multiple channels last night. We even offered TBT their own channel. Most of the commanders were in TS during reset. Telling you to get in TS was about the most drama we had. Overall AR had a good reset night and El Cid did do a good job commanding in eternal. He knows how to command and we just wanted to improve our TS play with commanders that know their stuff.
Another server that fell and then still got transfers….Love this game, love the people that play it….
How many transfers do you think we got? A lot of our NA players stayed up way past their bedtime to see if the SF rumors were true. I am sure we got transfers. But we haven’t got any huge wvw or even pvx guilds to transfer here. So if our play seems like we got OMFG numbers than I guess that is a compliment.
SF your zergs move fast. Nice back-cap at kain keep in eternal.
Go job this season MANvil Rock!!
Week 1: GOM, DR, AR
GOM: 282,062
DR:207,285
AR: 164,332
Week7 GOM, DR, AR (this is with a day left of season 1 let to go)
GOM: 173,008
DR:184,413
AR: 214,786
Way to play AR! All the other servers had us last in bronze. Now we have 6th on lock and finished the season stronger than I could have imagined.
Week 1: GoM won with 282k points, DR 2nd place with 207k, AR 3rd place with 164k.
Week 3: A few commanders and myself decided it was time to “practice movement” as a pug zerg since we didn’t have a guild that could bring 20+ on a regular day to day basis (and still don’t). This was also the time when we made it known we can’t let let servers farm our wooden towers/keeps and placed more emphasis on D.
Week 4: AR got 2nd over ET by 1.2k points. Grapes and I easily commanded over 30+ hours that week and TFH played defense in our BL 90% of time. We didn’t lose garrison once and didn’t let bay AND hills be captured in the same day.
Week 5: AR got 2nd over ET again but this time by 22k points. GoM got 1st but only by 30k. We just did what we did in week 4 but now our response time was quicker on defense and we kept improving in open field as a zerg. Again we still didn’t have a large guild it was mostly with non-affiliated people in TS. Also due to ET and FC making golems every chance they could get it stepped our scouting game. We now send our scouts to camps to see if they are building/waypointing golems. Garrison stood uncapped for 2 weeks so far.
Week 6: We finally lost a T3 upgraded garrison but it was on the last day of the server week to DH. So Garrison stood for solid 20 days.
Week 7: AR is 1st with a 40k lead, DR in 2nd with a 10k lead over GoM and Garrison still stands.
To command on AR is really hectic. We push out on a BL but always have an eye on keeps in our own bl. If an X gets tossed up on a waypoint while we are away in another BL we send a scout that is TS to check it out. If it is a threat, either they have outer down or an orange X is up on outer, we drop what we are doing and head back to defend. If we need to we will pull people from eternal but that is if things are really bad. Our big TS zerg is usually regulated to 1 map for offense and defense.
Again we haven’t gotten too many transfers and they probably make up about 5% of our core wvw community that is already here. We didn’t get any large wvw or pvx guilds here either. To say we have spies on GoM or any other server we have faced is absurd. We need all the people we can get atm and welcome anyone or any guild that wants to help us out!

We got where we are with solid Defense and knowing when we have the population advantage to go on offense . We have constant scouting in our bl and will send one if an X gets toss up on a keep or north towers. We place an emphasis on defense because you can defend a fortified tower/keep 10vs30 easily. Not saying “wipe” but for 10 people to fend off a zerg is better than having to call for reinforcements from eternal. Speaking of which our people in eternal know when to help out AR BL and we have non-commander personnel just as concerned about our home bl as our commanders.
On reset you probably faced about 90% of our wvw community which is the same people you will see all week at various times in the day. We are consistent. We bleed you of points by keeping your keeps wood. It’s like a game of keep away which allows us quicker response time when you’re banging your heads on our fully upgraded keeps. Think about it…it takes about 2 hours to get gates/walls done on a keep and that’s if it gets yaks steadily. To get a waypoint it can take up to 4 to 5 hours. Waypoints are key to having a solid defense. To cap a keep with wooden gates can be done in less than 10 minutes with 20 people. So when you finally get rams built on the door, our zerg is finishing building rams on inner. When your zerg gets stalled by 3 guys on AC’s with the door at 80%, our zerg has capped your keep and on the way to defend whatever you are trying to hit. After we wipe you we head back to our progress. Now if you decide to hit the same keep or even if you flip back the one we capped. We can easily go back to it or hit elsewhere in your bl turning another tower/keep into wood.
TY Dov for that taste of humble pie. Yea it has been a while since AR got 1st so keep it classy MANvil!
Again TFH is one our stronger guilds. They are an old AR guild and have always been oceanic. They can field up to 10+ on most nights. Shhh is a roaming guild from what I know which is anywhere from 5-10. Zero is an oceanic guild that originated on AR. I checked TS to see who was still on and we still have our NA players still playing. So yea we have gotten transfers but not as many as you think. I’m thinking our TS zerg was on a roll considering we have been keeping most of your real estate “wooden” throughout the day. There is a big difference between our 4 fortified keeps and your 4 wooden ones. Our NA players will put in a long night if we have a chance at placing better. The “carrot on the stick” if you will. 30+ players in TS at this hour isn’t a bad thing, but a lot of them I recognize as core wvw folk that play various hours of the day. Minimizing our success by stating we are winning due to transfers is a little insulting. It’s more like…overall server coordination, not to lose our keeps throughout the day so we can have an easier prime time which ultimately leads to easy night capping. Offense is all about timing. Fortified keeps take a long time to capture if said keep is also full on supply. If you have wooden gates going into the night that is bad news because a group of 10 can get to inner easily.
Closest match up all season between all 3 servers. This is the kind of match up that people want but only we can play in.
One of our strongest and oldest wvw guilds is an oceanic guild. We also got [Zero] back after a tour on BG, they too are also oceanic but originated on AR. Not saying we didn’t get transfers but we have managed to keep waypoints out of your keeps making defense that much harder to play.
Great match up so far. An awesome way to end the season!
After all these weeks SF trolled itself into a corner haha! The smack talk was good up until their coverage gap became their go to excuse. AR didn’t lose Garrison for 3 weeks, we played ET twice and never lost it to them. DH even had a hard time taking keeps from us. AR didn’t lose our entire ptt to the Brahzilians, yea we lost eternal but we kept them out of our bl. We have started doing a server “night cap” to help our skeleton crew and made it known to our server when we are weakest. Now we are 600 points ahead of GoM. If they lose to us they will place under FC. It’s called playing for something. AR plays for improvement. Just like DH is playing to beat you. I know it isn’t about ptt but ptt is what makes a community stronger. A nasty little trick Anet did but it is worth it.
There are trolls but trying to recruit our players when we played was just bad form.
GG to DH.
The Tet offensive…we get it.
Server: AR
League: Bronze
Enjoyed Season 1: Yes
Should we have season 2: Yes
Obvious coverage talk aside…AR has was at the bottom of Bronze, which would put us at the bottom of all 24 servers. We tightened up our Defense and had the closest 2nd place finish in the NA leagues (1,172 pts). Right now Bronze won’t be completely sorted out until the last week. After BG won in week one, gold league was decided and FA in silver league is a joke. Right now there are 7 servers involved in a tie with another server. Final standings won’t be figured out until the last week. There have been about 6 matches where two servers were within 20k points of each other. AR was left for dead in 9th placed and we managed to turn it around and could end up finishing 6th. Not the greatest but it pulled our server together and I think that is somewhat of a success for leagues.
AR slums down low. Defense FTW!!
The 15 or so transfers that we got play at various time during the day. With that said AR is improving our overall wvw play. Heads up to DR we beat ET by playing major defense. If you think AR got where we are by transfers than you need to rethink how your wvw community does WVW.
GoM Overlook and AR Garrison are the only keep that weren’t flipped this week.
I flipped overlook twice this week on Wednesday morning. It was around at 4 am my time.
Bronze League players had AR last in Bronze League. With a little teamspeak and defense we managed 2nd place two weeks in a row. If we can keep this momentum up for the next two weeks, I am thinking more like 6th, maybe even 5th if Kaineng can’t pull off 2nd place for the next two weeks.
This week was another improvement on AR. Our lowest point tick was at 115 and that was a few hours after reset. AR ticked over 300 on a couple overnights so we are stepping up our night capping as well. We got 2nd by playing tough defense. We still have yet to lose Garrison this week and I think we only lost Hills once. So things are looking up on our end. PTT talk is boring but when you get the majority of your server thinking PTT you get sound overall wvw play.
I have noticed we don’t overextend our coverage until we know we can. When we do the TS commander usually has an eye on the things we already hold. I know it’s hard to take criticism when you have 1st locked in but GoM is just about as stubborn on offense as we are on defense. Mostly giving up large chunks of real estate while they would spin their wheels on towers. I remember one night we had 90% of your BL green and you still wanted Aldon’s not to mention ET was doing work in your eternal sector. After about 1hr you got it but in the process had everything in your bl wooden. The trade-off was not worth it imo.
Well we will see how the scores look once the weekday hits. I doubt AR can keep up with ET during the weekday, thy have forever been in last place for a reason.
Sure showed this guys what’s up. For those that think that AR will finish last in bronze go check the schedule. DR is caught in the crossfire between HoD/SF and if we pull out another 2nd place victory, we will be set-up with another tie-breaker with DR and ET will be in last. Only burnout at this point in time will ruin our momentum.
NA gold league-Decided after week 1 when BG beat SoR/JQ
NA silver league-Decided after week 1 when FA beat SBI/DB
NA bronze league-Most competitive league in GW2
Cheers to the bottom tiers!
Any old school AR player remembers when SF could barely get out of T7. We could hang with servers like BP, NSP and SBI, you guys would get beat by DH…we smoked them by 100k+. These were after you received transfers. They weren’t kaineng like transfers but enough to get you out of T7 (see what I did there). I like that you recognize our spirit. We barely had enough then and we barely have enough now.
AR outplayed GoM and DR all day today. Yea we had a bigger zerg running around at one point during the day but it was rushing back to save the homefront. AR rampaged through both your BL’s. I feel DR and GoM continue to choose to fight us over each other. The best was when we capped SM with the outmanned buff. That was an insane 3 way but in the end we simply out fought you guys in the middle. Not to mention we were tagless right before the final push and later sweep. Good fights all around. Props to commander Grapes for pulling a marathon at the commanders chair and all those Anvil Rockers that were keeping up with all the map hopping.
60g from away from my tag…
