Need better Pistol skins.

Its funny to see all the responses about pistols being too small to be noticed, when my own personal beef is that so many weapons, especially the newer skins, are so HUGE! I don’t want a dagger that looks like a sword, I dont want a sword that looks like a kayak! I love the fact that many of the pistols are small; they let me create subtly unique characters.

New player: focus on Queen Jubilee or story?

I can say from experience that you should spend time doing both. If you play your personal story from the beginning, you will actually be able to make good use of the reward equipment you receive for completing each chapter. However, your personal story will wait for you, and still pose a fun challenge because you will scale down in level for the quest.

As for the temporary content, I didn’t take part in the Cutthroat Politics content until the last few days and I was still able to get some achievements and enjoy the new zones. Not enough to fully explore them, but I’m not an achievement hound.

So I would suggest that you at least check out the temporary content. You might just like browsing the new zone or playing a few mini-games. Or maybe you will get hooked on the story and want to dive all the way in! (oh! and you should scale up to level 80 for the temporary content, so you don’t have to worry about missing out)

Unsatisfied with Main Hand weapons

So this is purely a personal issue. Both the 1hd Sword and the Axe are powerful tools in the Rangers’ arsenal, but I am just not a fan of either of them. I don’t like the mid-range and “bounce” of the axe, and I often find myself stuck in a bush or falling off of things when I use the 1h sword (klutzy player :P)

However, I adore all 4 of the off-hand weapons! They are all fun, useful, and have interesting effects. Aside from hoping for more 1h main weapons to choose from, what suggestions do you have for making use of the off-hand weapons while suffering with the main hand??

If ANet designed a game that pleased EVERYONE, you can bet that NOBODY would be playing it. If ANet bent to the will of all commenters’ repeat complaints/criticisms we would end up with a loose pile of bland and common-place mechanics. GW2 does offer a unique take on the MMO experience and I don’t think they should be faulted for “controversial” mechanics.

This game is so much more than gear, digital currency, leader boards, and fairness. GW2 can be played and appreciated by a full spectrum of gamers because it is flexible. The game offers solid stories and cultures, beautiful environments that reward you with experience for exploring them, crafting experience that spills over to world experience, PvP and WvW, and dynamic events and extra content. You don’t have to do all of it or any of it! Just because its there, doesn’t mean you are expected to grind or “waste your time” doing it.

I appreciate the dailies because it gives me an opportunity to practice my dodges, seek out jump puzzles, and explore new regions. I’ve made 3 levels just from trying to complete a rather difficult daily. I think that this is awesome! Some see dailies as grinding for laurels, I see it as more things to try so I don’t feel like I’m level grinding.

Rainbow Jellyfish

I really appreciate that a Designer would take the time to make a post about this issue specifically with us Rangers. Very cool, so thanks Jon!

I love the jelly-pet and I use both the blue and red one and I am glad that they look different from each other. So having a third jelly-look for the rainbow would be awesome! Despite the name however, I hope that there isn’t a lot of rainbow action going with this new skin. Ranger’s already have some very flowery and flashy Legendary weapons, so the more natural and subtle looking Ranger items/pets are very much appreciated for my character aesthetic.

That being said, it might be interesting to play with some bioluminescence like others have posted about, but maybe the glow’s color could slowly cycle through a small spectrum to play off the rainbow aspect without having every color visible at the same time.

Expanded Ranger Pet Families

I love how many different pets the Ranger profession can use! But I’m feeling greedy, so here are a few ideas (hopes and dreams) for additional Ranger pets:

Another Family of Ranged Critters: With only two lines of ranged pets, it would be nice to add an additional line of pets with ranged auto-attacks. Perhaps continuing with the insectoid theme (spider and devourers being the two ranged pets) and include a “Fly” family of Firefly, Wasp, Corpse Fly. Or a “Grub” family with Scutter Larvae, Tree Parasite, and Overgrown Grub. Anything like this would give more options to Rangers that want a pet to play ranged with them.

Another Family of Aquatic Critters: The fully aquatic pets don’t stick to the 3 or 4 pets in a family rule that most of the other pets do. So while there is some species variety, there aren’t as many aquatic pets to pick from. I love the idea of having an angry Thundershrimp jetting around with me underwater, Triops would be nice, or even Hermit Crabs. I would even be happy with an additional semi-aquatic family like Skelks or Skales.

Family of Non-Predatory Critters: I will mention that not all of the pets a Ranger can access are predators, but most appear to be, or are omnivorous/scavengers. It would be nice to have a few families of herbivores available to fight along side with. Especially since most herbivores are very protective parents, and have dangerous territorial/mating rituals (pointing this out simply because herbivores don’t hunt other animals, but they are still very capable of mangling things). Elk, Longhorn Sheep, and Dolyaks would be a really awesome lineup of Ranger pets.

Ambient Creature Pets: This might be the most unlikely family of pets, but it would be neat to have Chickens, Raccoons, and Rabbits as tamable pets. Rooster talons are wicked sparring weapons, Raccoons are very vicious when cornered, and Rabbits would make very interesting support pets (haste, speed, cloaking type boons?).

In conclusion, more pets! Any pets! Even more options!
