I don’t see the problem. Money talks.
So many people (in 2012…almost 2013) with an idealistic view of a company whose main raison d’être is to make money. And I thought I was naïve. Sheesh.

@Apathy
“Waahhh, my blues aren’t super cool looking.

There’s plenty of fancy looking armors in the game."

And this is a prime example of why this community is so horrible. OP has a legit complaint and the fanboi posts that. Simply amazing. “Oh noes a negative comment about my game I love. I better flame him.”

The armor is horrible looking and so plain. The look of armor is actually really important in a game and important to a lot of people. People want to look kitten for the effort in getting higher items. Not saying all items should rock, but the higher level and better gear you get should start to look better.

Might I add, even more so in a Barbie MMO such as GW2? Where the “end game”, or at least the biggest part of it, is how one looks?

I've come to dislike waypoints.

Stop wasting your time. This is what the BWEs were for. To bring up sh-t like this instead of blowing smoke up ANet’s -ss.
I was wary of them the minute I experienced them in-game.
I’ve made it a point not to use the waypoints unless I’m in a city (it’s free, and nothing new to see in the cities) or when I die.
It makes me think of Skyrim. I did the same in that game.

Oh, and I don’t like being forced to pay after a death…

And what’s the logic behind the waypoints becoming more expensive as you level up? Your -ss is more blinged out so it’s more expensive to teleport you? Why doesn’t it cost karma?

The zones don’t feel like the small boxes that they are as much anymore. I get to see more stuff happening randomly. I may pick up more rare loot along the way I may have missed otherwise (in particular dyes).

Welcome to the minority.

Nope. I haven’t seen this same topic and replies (on both sides) before in previous MMORPGs.

who are people kidding themselves with 50% retention.
that is still an awful statistic

If memory serves me well, the 900 pound gorilla boasts a retention rate of 30%. For any game that would mean great numbers.
Any other title in recent memory has had wayyy less than 30%.

How do you quit Guild Wars 2? Give away your account? You already bought the game.

Same as when you quit anything else in life. You STOP doing it. You abandon or put it aside. You cease or discontinue to do something…

I would love to know how some of the designs got past the go/no go. I mean, what the process of this is.

Of course taste is subjective. But there is also such a thing as unanimity, when it comes to what’s beautiful and what’s not.

How can a majority pinpoint the good looking pieces out of the bunch, while internally the developers can’t?

Has Guild Wars 2 been worth your $60.00?

“Has Guild Wars 2 been worth your $60.00?”
Honestly I can’t say so at this point in time. I’ll think about this question two months or three from now.
I’m still playing, so that’s good, at least.
When it comes to MMOs I judge them as a whole, and I can only do so 3+ months after I’ve played it enough. It may all fall apart once I hit 80, making me change my stance on the levelling experience.
MMOs != single player games.

On Botting and What We’re Doing About It

They do give warnings if you give locations to where these bots are. I had one screenshot showing where they were and another showing the bots themselves. That got me a warning. Seriously, FK you.
How about doing something useful instead of handing out stupid warnings: have those useless moderators log into the game, roll up their sleeves and actually do something about the bot trains?

It seems to me they’d rather keep the customer service part underfunded. More $$$ for them.

I think beta players owe the rest of us an apology...

If anyone owes anyone an apology, I think all the people raining down negativity owe the rest of the GW2 community an apology. It’s one thing to complain, but when every forum thread is repeated negativity or every good thread is hijacked, it makes coming to the forums a real pain to deal with.

You cannot even start a thread about enjoying the game without someone trying to turn it around on you. It’s getting quite tiresome.

not to be rude but well done, except, now you know what its been like for every other mmo forum in the lead up to gw2. EVERY mmo forum had to put up with this mercenary ‘your mmo sucks gw2 will kill it’ group. THAT grew tiresome. and when i see people complaining about negativity, well, karma is the word id use.

Where does it end? You can start the revolution and walk away.

revolution? you mean the gw2 community cant man up, apologise for being total kittens to other gamers simply because their kitten wannbe wow killer game was all they cared for?

god, not even totalbiscuit who went all squealy for gw2 gives two kitten about it now.

I’ve noticed the same. Funny, ain’t it? It makes you wonder.

Who here thinks the medium armor appearances are mediocre to poor?

The majority of medium armor is plain ugly and Anet knows it. There are tons of post and people everywhere complaining. The big question, what is Anet going to do about it? Probably nothing sadly.

But weren’t many of the looks revealed little by little as the release date drew closer? Weren’t the fans blowing up smoke up ANet’s kitten how everything was zomgcool etc.? And now many are complaining?
Give it up.

“The armor problem has come up before… two words: “Mage Tanks”… everyone ends up playing wizards dressed as knights… why wouldn’t you?”
I don’t think it would be implemented as easily.
I can imagine there being a penalty for wearing something heavy while trying to cast. Or what about wearing something heavy while trying to be nimble?
I think Dragon Age handled this pretty well, for the mechanics that they had.

No mounts - I simply don't understand...

When ingame populations begin to fall mounts will come. Some sort of expansion or update that you will have to pay for, its such an easy way to claim they are adding new content while not being particularly difficult to implement. Should make them a few $$$ as well.

Get outta my head! ;-)

There are plenty of games out there that have mounts. Why not play them instead of complaining this game doesn’t have mounts. And if all else fails try three free programs kitten, blender, unity make a game that you want to play.

Careful what you wish for.
