My 2nd 50/50 GWAMM, which I got last year on a brand new account, starting from scratch with nothing.
They dumbed down the game so much in the later years that it ruined the game and made it too easy. Look at a HoM guide online and you should have no problems.
Regarding my OP, I am mostly annoyed that they put the price of the reward at 60s and then changed it to 3s. Had it been 3s from the start I wouldn’t care. But stuff like this has happened several times now. Stuff like this just makes their relationship with many players negative. I’m sure a lot of people feel the same as demonstrated in this thread, but alas blind fanboys (also demonstrated here) will keep pumping the gemstore with money. Such a shame because this game had lots of potential, but is run extremely poorly.
So it was 60s and now after the patch it’s 3s. Soulbound on acquire and not salvageable. I just came back from a very long break and it’s stupid decisions like this that make me not give a single penny to the gem store and also stop playing, just saying.
I went on TC for a bit just to “experience” RPers for the first time. I was in wayfarer foothills leveling my mesmer, I see in chat “_ sits.” “_ sits.” So I thought I was gonna encounter roleplayers, I finally find them sitting in a little lake naked, female, blond, big breasts, you name it. They were talking about regrets in their life and how the warm water is getting them relaxed, they continue on to do the “emote” chat and touch each other. That’s when I logged off TC and went back to BG. No matter how much you guys say people are missing out on the immersion GW2 RPers bring…I can’t stand RPers. I felt that they just pretend to be girls all day and cyber each other. Yep….I was right.
So why do you guys get trolled? Everyone gets trolled? You are taking the game too seriously, if someone is trolling you, zone into LA/ heart of the mists, w/e and go offline. I guess that’s too immersion breaking for you.
See, that story I just don’t believe…
So you logged onto TC after spending the money, and spent more to jump back…
and if you are going to say it was BEFORE the charge for server change it still wrong. Before charging for server change it took a week to change servers to hinder WvW server bandwagon problems.
It’s called guesting…look it up
Name your friend on TC…
Lol. I love how you call BS on what seems a legit post just because you want your own way.
Btw, you don’t need a friend to guest.
This thread is just a roleplayer seeking priorities over normal players, which is one of many reasons people dislike them. The ironic superiority complex.
Goodnight buddies.

Agree 100% and stuff like this happens 24/7 with RP’ers. They don’t get my sympathy. I personally put all role players on ignore.
Because Guild wars, was named after a major event that had happened many many years before the first one, That too did not have GvG, until faction wars expansion
Where are you getting all this wrong information from?
Prophecies had GvG and (faction wars?) Factions was a campaign not an expansion.
GW2 won’t have GvG because there isn’t enough skill diversity. (Or healers.)
In terms of MMO popularity and player base I am going to compare the top 5. Big names only really…
World of Warcraft
Rift
Tera
SWTOR
Guild Wars 2In comparison, Guild Wars 2 outshines all of these games excent one or two niché areas in specific games.
“Popularity and player base” Those games popularity and player base is out of GW2’s league. Sorry. (Except Tera.)
Numbers don’t lie.
So it’s kind of a bad comparison.
It’s your favourite MMO on the market. Not the best. Not even close.
Mists of Pandaria, an expansion to an 8 year old game, sold copies more in a week than GW2 has to this date.
Also, WoW has over 10m susbscribers currently, while GW2 only has a few thousand active players.
So, yeah. You’d be in the extreme minority if you say GW2 is the best MMO.
actually GW2 outsold Mists of Pandaria
http://www.vgchartz.com/game/37350/guild-wars-2/Global/
http://www.vgchartz.com/game/65124/world-of-warcraft-mists-of-pandaria/Global/
That site is completely wrong. Those numbers are false. Anet even announced they sold over 2m copies ages ago. Blizzard announced they sold 2.7m copies of MoP in its first week. Next.
1. It’s still selling 30 000 units weekly (growth)
2. New servers are being opened to deal with population growth
And again, you’re making stuff up. None of this is true.

Combat may be ‘fun’ or rather, active but it IS boring with extremely limited skills.. can’t deny that.
I do not agree on the premise that I actually use all 10 skills on my bar plus profession mechanic skills, alternate weapon kit, forms and the like. All of those skills have a use in the correct situation.
Compare to any other MMO where you just spam fireball. Oh yea there’s an optimal routine, but just spamming fireball gets you everywhere. WoW fans called GW1 the 8-skill game. The sad fact being that WoW is pretty much a 1-skill game regardless of how cluttered your screen is.
WoW may be effectively be more simplistic (ie: death knights have many skills that effectively do the same thing on different timers), but GW2’s skill selection is way worst than GW1. Just the fact that 5 of your skills (ie: the weapon skills) are effectively locked (although weaponswaps/attunements/kits helps mitigate that), your 6th skill is locked into “healing”, your 7th – 9th into "utility, and 10th into “elite” doesn’t really add as much build diversity as GW1. (well, that and the not having a 2nd class thing). I understand why the game was designed this way (ie: helps with balance issues), but I still miss the flexibility GW1 gave you in skill/build selection.
Except most of GW1’s skills came from future expansions. There wasn’t so many options when GW1 was released. We had about the same amount of options.
You could change your skills in GW1 and have secondary professions. You are stuck with the same skills in GW2. (Don’t even bother mentioning utility skills.) Don’t see your point or how you think you could even compare GW1 skill variety to GW2. Doubt you played GW1.
GW1 since ‘05. I have several GWAMM’s and my GW1 friends also all have GWAMMs’. None of them play GW2 any more, including myself.
All the GW1 people I know find GW2 boring. One of many reasons is that GW2 is nothing like GW1, in any way, at all. (Yes, it’s a sequel, it’s supposed to feel like its predecessor.) And of course, no variation in builds and lack of content – probably the #1 reason.
However, even though it’s not like GW1, it’s still just boring in general.
I went back to GW1 months ago. Of course I tried GW2, it’s just horrible imo. GW1 is rapidly becoming a lot more active, seems a lot of people are going back.
In my opinion, the only improvement in GW2 was that you can scroll on the world map.
You should’ve expected the white knight brigade, OP.
Anyway, you are using the word blasphemy correctly, and you have every reason to be annoyed.
You’re not paying attention.
- Do you have all your skill slots unlocked?
- Do you have your skills unlocked, too?
- Have you been spending your trait points?
- Have you seen the level-80 dungeon armor? (Go to Fort Marriner in Lion’s Arch.)
In addition to access to more content, level 80 gives you more tools to work with than level 10, and many more options for playing dress-up (you still get all the low-level stuff, too, thanks to transmutation stones).
Also, a downscaled level-80 character doesn’t play like a level-10 character. She carves her way through low-level crap without a second thought.
Why do you have to defend this game to the death with no valid point relevant to the OP? Anyway, there isn’t any endgame content. You can do dungeons and world completion but that’s about it and there’s not much reward.
Haha I’m the one that seems mad
?
Yes. You seem way too attached to GW2.
I’m sure no major gaming company with high standards would celebrate winning GameSpot PC game of the year beating the likes of Dishonoured, Mass Effect, The Walking Dead and Xcom.
What happened to the cosmetics from GW1? THAT was what people went after. A new weapon skin, new armor skins, nothing.
subjective is subjective…
I see a vendor with all manner of skins, I see more on the gem store, and yet more attainable through other means.
The game is only 3 Months Old , it’s not going to have the same number of skins as one 6 years old.
Patience is something generation y needs to learn.
The population isn’t increasing for a reason. I didn’t buy gw2 to wait for over 3 months to find the real game. That’s what development is for and it clearly didn’t go to well.
Imagine if parenting were like this …. “i’m giving my child up for adoption, it wasn’t born at 22 years old with an undergrad degree”
What does parenting have to do with a video game feeling like a beta 3 months into release?

please explain to me how gw2 emulates wow at all.
I’m just not seeing it.
I’m seeing a game combat system and content that is focused on players’ overall skill rather than their ability to mash a dps rotation. I’m seeing pvp that’s competitive and not based around out-gearing your opponents.
I’m seeing a very well implemented game with more available content than WoW had 3 months after its launch, and more content coming out at a faster rate than Blizzard ever maintained.
People who bash this game as being “like wow” have some real blindfolds on.
Their only real balance failure thus far is the in-game economy, but I have enough patience to wait that out.
Are you playing GW2? Or a different game
Grats, now try and get another but without gemstore
The game has many flaws that s made loads of players already leave, such as combat system, holy trinity etc.
Combat system is great.
The holy trinity? LOL…they have that in here…its called control, support, damage.
Can’t help most of you just run pure damage and don’t understand the other 2 roles. They do exist and you can spec/gear to be very strong at them. The problem is most don’t know how to.
WoW combat is so boring and mundane. Hey look…the tank grabbed agro. DPS run your rotation. Healer play whack-a-mole…90% of the combat in WoW is that.
Your imaginary version of the holy trinity pretty much sums up the white knights in this game.
Btw you are comparing WoW to a game that has sold a mere 2m copies. J/S.
You will be back to GW2 very quickly.
GW2’s graphics, gameplay, awesome PVP and WvW, being able to dodge etc – just destroys other MMOs, as you will quickly discover.
That did make me laugh.
Answer to thread: The game was overhyped and is a huge fail. I stopped playing way before these grind additions.
Haha. I seriously doubt it.
Why is there a title for running around carving pumpkins, but none for the clocktower?
Posted by: Nayru.3947
The clocktower actually takes skill, and some people hours and hours to complete, yet there is no title. The pumpkin carving just requires you to run around mindlessly pressing F near pumpkins, and req’s absolutely NO SKILL. Why would someone want a title that shows off nothing?
No titles I have seen in GW2 require skill. What’s your point? Also I facepalmed when I read this thread.
People are missing the point. Anet could make everybody BUT you a skeleton. Or better yet plastic spider. Then you could always tell where you are.
At this point, I don’t think there is a point. Game constantly reaching critical mass in the complaint department, where every idea is better than the one Anet had. I should be enjoying the game that I couldn’t get enough of, the one that had the “GW2 effect” on me, the one I should be playing right now…
More I think about it, I think GW2 was supposed to be for consoles, I really do and the only reason it was ported to PC is because of limitations of either xbox 360, or the PS3. It feels like a console game, it’s limited like a console game, it has the replay value of a console game……/rant – sorries.
So, so true.
@OP
In case you didn’t notice by this whole halloween event, ANet run this game to make profit from the gem store. That’s why you never get exotics. They want you to buy gems. Hence when the Mad Kings Labyrinth started giving many people exotics, they nerfed it.
Terrible idea. People are complaining because their pixels are blocked, and you want everyone to look the same? The bottom line is it should be a personal instance.
Why do you feel entitled to have everything that’s available? Do you go to a casino and expect to come out with a return? Do you feel you are required to buy gems for something that’s completely optional?
Get over it. They are rare skins for a reason. You can’t always have everything. I want the shield skin badly but I don’t feel like I’m entitled to have it.
Casinos have laws for “fairness”, and in fact have a base return and not only that but a visible display of that the return is. Even lotto tickets have this. It is utterly optional but if I played 100 $1 tickets I can guarantee one of them is going to be a winner especially when the return on the ticket says 1:5 is a winner.
I’m also not talking about entitlement, I’m talking about FAIR value.
You are talking about entitlement. You think because you spend money on gems you are entitled to get what you want. The fact of the matter is, you knew that it’s a RNG game when you bought the keys. Anet is not trying to rip anyone off. They put the mad king chest in for that same reason.
This has nothing to do with being fair. Its entitlement. The way it is now is already fair. Everyone has the same odds. You just feel yours should be better than everyone else.
It comes under ripping off when the advertised items are next to impossible when it comes to odds of getting them. It’s a scam in my eyes and many others.
But if anyone needs to get over it, you do. You seem to be the most irritated one here. Guess you wasted all your gems.
OMFG another QQ thread… You knew that you where taking a CHANCE to get a skin by opening a BLC. No one put a kitten gun to your head and made you spend your paycheck on them keys.
Ever play GW1? If you have you would know how hard to was to get something out of the Gift of the Traveler and most people would just sell them for 5p each rather then open them. Here you can even go look at the drop rates. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Gift_of_the_Traveler/Drop_rate
I put 20$ towards the lotto once a year not because I know I will get them millions but because just maybe one year I might. 20$ a year is all I’m willing to spend.
Now stop your kitten whining.
There are more posts on the forum saying “OMG QQ THREAD!!!! STOP CRYING!!!” than people actually complaining – and they usually have good reason to. GW2 community has a bad population of fans that jump down peoples throats whenever 1 bad word is spoken of ANet or GW2. People are entitled to their own opinions. Not everyone has to kiss kitten like you. If anyone looks like an agitated baby, it’s you people.
Now go do something constructive.
Here’s what I guess will happen The Mad King will show up, do some fancy pantsy dance or whatever, kill everyone a bunch of times, does some epic dialogue
No way they’ll include something like a pumpkin hat reward or whatever to a one time event where most of the people from the timezones of asia probably won’t even show up, that would make no sense
so chill plz it’s just gonna be some fancy shmancy, the act itself will still be doable by everyone later the day and untill the end of halloween. you’ll be missing nothing if you just watch it later on youtube.
Yeah, I’m sure you’d be saying that if it was your time zone that couldn’t make it. Besides, what you’re saying is not the point. Everyone deserves to be there if they want to. Not everyone wants to go for a reward. People with time zones where the event is starting at 3am or 8am deserve to complain, it’s a completely ludicrous decision by ArenaNet to have only one time. It really shows what they think of their player base. What you’re saying is extremely ignorant.
Well this game is very casual
Some of the game is casual. The things that don’t take long. Like the storyline. Play 5 hours a week and get a legendary, then tell everyone it’s “very casual.”
it seems most of the casual players are just too bad at puzzles and come on the forums to complain about it not being easy.
What do you base this on? Nothing – it’s garbage. All types of players have been complaining about it for valid reasons, it has nothing to do with how often someone plays, or how good they are. It’s a flawed design. Holiday events should be simple, fun and enjoyable. The clocktower clearly ticks none of those to the majority of the community.
If it was easy, we wouldn’t get a free exotic.
I’ve gotten 3 exotics from the Mad Kings Labyrinth. It was extremely easy.
Bottom line: People that come on the forum to try and act supreme and whine about “whiners” should stop, it’s boring and you’re embarassing yourself by being so hypocritical.
@OP No, you are not the only one. The gem prices are ridiculous. Plus, the fact that the items on the gem store either run out in 1 hour, are useless or you don’t know what you’ll get have made me sure that I won’t be wasting a penny on them.
Attempted it 3 times, wasn’t fun, left, never went back.
It wasn’t an exploit.
My answer is: No. Go outside now and then.
The professions are balanced, and:
Update Notes October-11-2012
General
Fixed a recently introduced issue that could cause some players to getting stuck in loading screens primarily during PVP matches
Fixed a recently introduced issue that could cause some players to not see other characters models
Restored Asuran head sizes to the size selected during character creation
Fixed a bug with the Asuran character creation head size slider
Sadly, this nerf doesn’t surprise me. I played GW1 since 2005; so I don’t expect an update.
