The outstanding Hatchery Bug

This is another case of something that looks simple but is actually fairly complex. The issue is that the same day that I made the fix to this story step, some changes were made to the music system that required an update to all story steps. Unfortunately, this meant that my fixed version was no longer compatible with Live, since it had references to the new audio changes in it, but Live did not have the new changes yet. Ultimately, it was deemed too risky to rush out the new audio changes (since they would affect every story step), which is why this (seemingly minor) fix has been delayed for so long, and why it’s part of a major update, and hasn’t been pushed out with the smaller updates we’ve made since this bug was fixed.

Why wasn’t this said SO MUCH earlier. Come on ANet has built a reputation of being up front about stuff like this had you done so in this case (told us the real reason for the delay much sooner) you’d have had a lot less peed off customers. Yes it still really sucks that we are waiting so long but at least now we have a real reason, a logical reason and not some catch all excuse as to why this was delayed so long. I am really happy to hear this as most of us where left assuming that “we have to test patches” line was complete BS when your pushing out numerous other updates. We all assumed (and rightfully so given the number of holiday patches) that you were putting higher priority on temp holiday content then this bug. Thank you for finally giving a REAL answer and using keys other then Ctrl+c Ctrl+v.

Jeff:
I really appreciate what your doing on this issue. You are the only one that’s not given us cookie cutter answers on this issue and been straight up on whats going on. I’m sure you would have told us this info sooner had you been “allowed” to. My rant is not directed at you.

different teams, different priorities. You dont fix bugs, people leaves. You dont put new stuff, people don’t come/return.

There is your answer, not too much to think.

Not exactly true in this case.
The bug mentioned has been:
Identified
Confimred
Fixed (internally they have a working fix)

The only thing that hasnt been done is the QA process where they test the fix and then implement it on the live servers. The reason this has taken over a moth is the QA team is busy with the holiday content (this is of course speculation but there is no other logical explanation as to why a bug that has a working fix and is so game breaking for those effected by it would take so incredibly long to go through testing) and have put this off as a secondary priority.

This should be the highest priority right now. If the November event patch happens and this isn’t fixed then ANET needs to massively rethink their priorities.

Out of 10, what would you rate this year's GW2 Halloween Event?

[Rant]
I would rate the holiday event a 1 because they gave more importance to patching the holiday event (a small temp part of the game that is now gone) then fixing a bug in the main game that prevents players from progressing in the story line that still has yet to be fixed and was confirmed by ANET a month ago.

Putting priority on bonus temp content over a bug that completely prevents player progression is unacceptable in my book.

And before anyone brings up the diffeent teams working on different things argument it’s the QA team that has to test and approve the fix for the hatchery bug. THis same team are the ones that approved all the patches for the Halloween bugs and put them out on the live server before fixing a problem with the core story line.

[/rant]

Okay now that i got that out of the way the event wasn’t that bad and was better then most other mmo holiday events in both fun and amount of content.
My only real complaint (barring my rant) was clock tower defiantly needed more planning. Playing as anything other then char/norn was just an exercise in frustration. They should have foreseen this problem and turned everyone into skeletons or something for the clock tower.

I got so frustrated with this bug I started playing a different MMO that just came out while I wait for this patch. This isn’t a threat that I will move on I did move on. If this doesn’t go in BEFORE (or at the same time) the next holiday patch I won’t be back. There are plenty of other games out there and delaying a patch of this importance for so long is just unacceptable. I understand the need to test. This is fine but this DOES NOT TAKE AN ENTIRE MONTH. This just means you put priority on other things (holiday BS) rather then fixing a major game progression issue. Again unacceptable.

I’m normally a patient person when it comes to bugs and updates but considering this blocks progress for story and was reported over a month ago I don’t understand why this isn’t a higher priority bug. Something that completely blocks story progression I think should be patched within 48 hours considering it’s been:
A: confirmed
B: fixed internally

I understand the Halloween event has things being a bit more hectic then normal but expected fix on this is 2 weeks away still that’s just not okay.

Also to the Jeff guy thats been posting in here I want to Thank you for your effort on this. It sounds like you really are trying to push this forward and personally your side of actually finding and fixing the issue was done very quickly. So to you or your team or whoever did the actual finding and fixing I want to say again: Thank you. Now please go give the person that is holding this up a swift kick in the kitten (edit: LOL at awesome way to censor) for us so we can get your work live

Cooking - Feasts - Level Requirement

Do Tray/Feast/Pots of whatever food still retain a level requirement for people that use them?

Okay first for anyone that is not sure even though you get boosted to 80 in WvWvW you still cant use food above your level. (I think this is dumb but whatever)

My question however is if I lay down a Tray of Mango Pies
Does this still require people be (a true non-boosted) level 80 to use the feast after its set up?
