Looking for a guild or a group of people that commonly use TS3 to level with. Me and a friend are currently around level 20 and have just started the game (myself being a returning player) and was looking for more people to possibly play with us to further improve our experience.

Toughness in sPvP

Nemesis.1948

I’ve got around 2.5k toughness on my spec for sPVP but how much exactly does toughness even help?

I’ve tried searching around but couldn’t find it. It it like 1000 toughness = 10% reduced damage or something?

Summon some sort of angel of healing or something that watches over us and our allies giving across nice buffs.

My imagination is pretty limited lol
I like SuperLuigi’s idea very well though.

Signet of Resolve a must :/

Overall is PVP I’ve simply been using the signet due to it having the largest heal and also the fact that it removes conditions every 10 seconds. Condition removal is a must have for PVP imo.

Guardian or Ranger

As you may know currently Guardians have pretty limited damaging range skills atm. This could be fixed in the possible future. I also feel that Guardians are quite versatile as even for example with my dps pvp build, I am still able to support pretty well.

In dungeons I have found that most people simply go ranged and just dish out damage from afar. Me playing Guardian means that I am pretty much usually up pretty close to the mobs and this does mean that I often get hit hard.

Both classes can burst pretty well and Rangers can support with a few of their awesome Warhorn skills that I’ve seen around. I don’t really know much about Rangers but from a pvp poi, I know that when played right, they can burst very well while staying afar from targets while their pretty awesome pets tank off.

Guardians on the other hand can also gain great burst, at least with the build I have, and I do seem to do quite viable damage in PVP. Support wise you have many skills that can mostly block attacks, stop enemies from advancing towards you and a lot of heals and hp regen.

Personally I’ve never really been a fan of having pets nor am I really a Ranger kind of person and out of the two I would choose a Guardian. I’ve always been more of a Pally kinda player anyways.

Both classes perform pretty well do and I guess for soloing, both classes are completely doable. My Guardian is 80 and it seems to be doing quite nicely in the world of Tyria

Concluding, I guess from my point of view, if you’re more into support though you can still do decent damge, defin go the Guardian route. If however you are more centered towards doing damage with minor support having pets, Ranger is your way.
I hoped I helped a little.

Yeah I have also noticed that often the shots will miss even at people close to you. One thing I have to ask though is that does moving around affect the skill at all? It seems that when you move while the skill is in progress all of the shots seem to miss. Can anyone clarify?

Idea: Gaurdian trait or special that state an ally in need?

Yeah the skill has proved somewhat lesser useful for me as it doesn’t seem to work that well. What the OP is trying to say I think is that certain skills should indicate when allies need heals or something like that?

We only need a medium amount of HP close to Rangers and Mesmers in PVE only. I recon that would fix things nicely.

Well I personally use the Knight’s Amulet along with the Beserker Jewel giving me a total of nearly 20k hp. I also mainly use the GS and Sword/Shield combo.

One of the master traits that you can get with 30 trait points into the line grants you +15% crit chance with 1 handed weapons. This is unbelievably awesome! This then gives me a total of nearly 85% crit chance when I use my Sword. My damage with the Sword does seem slightly better than the GS though when using the 3 abilty as I seem to crit more. That’s mainly probably why, due to more crits. With the GS on the other hand, the versatilty that you have with the 4th and 5th skill is just great.

Being honest the amount of damage that a Warrior can dish out in comparison to their HP pool is crazy.

I do feel like I am doing quite decent damage currently with my Guardian in PVP with my just under 20k hp, but then again the amount of damage that a Warrior can do is crazy.

Not being like a kid or anything but this kinda calls for a damage nerf for Warriors.

Why is Warriors HP > Guardian HP

Nemesis.1948

There is clearly not much of an issue in terms of sPVP. I’m doing completely fine right now with just under 20k hp doing quite decent damage in sPVP. The main area at which this problem lies is within PVE and to some extent WvWvW due to the lack of similar amulets like the ones available in PVE.

All of my short life, I’ve mostly been playing both support and tanky classes in literally every single MMO that I’ve got my hands on. This has also been one of the main reasons to why I chose to main a Guardian. Just like many other people, I came to the assumption that the Guardian was a very tankey class out of the 8 and that naturally it would fit those people who prefer to play classes with a lot of tankiness in them. Some people including myself just love to have massive amounts of HP. Welcome to my HP fetish!

Putting that aside, though the “holy trinity” has been so called removed, you guys have made is seem that the game still pretty much relies on Guardians to mitigate damage for parties in areas such as Dungeons as you guys have claimed they can do very well. A lot of the people prior to my post have been going on about how the Guardian has a lot of damage mitigating skills that make them avoid damage altogether. While this is completely true as Guardians do in fact have a largish array of such skills, it’s near impossible to pull off most of the time as a lot of these skills have quite long cool downs compared to other skills. An example of this is with the skill “Shield of Judgment” which grants the user a 5 second burst of Retaliation which gives the user a 33% reduction in damage taken. While this does sound great, it does have a 30 second CD meaning that it cannot be maintained a lot of the time. Adding onto this, having a lower HP pool means that the amount of total damage taken is less than a Warrior for example having a large HP pool even under the effects of this skill.

Adding even more onto the case of Warriors, Guardians who wish to do around the same damage as a Warrior have to sacrifice a lot of defensive traits and stats in order to do the same. The idea of this game is to have every class being able to do anything yet this completely breaks that as Warriors are able to pull of X while Guardians can pull X off however with the loss of Y. – Though I am not saying that HP increase is needed for PVP, the amount of burst damage that a Warrior can do in comparison to their HP is absurd when put aside other professions such as the Guardian.

There are also a large array of different heals at a Guardians disposal but once again, these can only be used once every so often due to CDs. Dodging is also another thing similar to this. You can pretty much only dodge twice every roughly 10 seconds or so (not sure exactly) meaning that once again the player is left open to damage. Warriors do also have a HP regen signet which as some people have claimed, apparently heals more than the virtue available to the Guardian.

I’ve probably made a complete mess of my point as I genuinely suck at putting my points across but all I’m trying to say is that at least in PVE, Guardians need to have a slight HP increase. While they have heavy armor like Warriors, they might not need HP on the same level as Warriors, but maybe perhaps in at least the mid range of HP pools along side Rangers and Mesmers.

I understand that a lot of people have been saying that a HP increase isn’t needed for the Guardian due to their extensive damage mitigating skills, however this isn’t always the case as just like other skills these skills do have long CDs and cannot even be used for the majority of the time.

Thanks – A little kid who wants a HP increase (PVE only really) OR Nerf other class damage slightly perhaps?

Race/Sex Changing

While race changing would be a nice feature, yet troublesome feature to have, a way to perhaps fix the issue with personal stories is that you may only change race once you reach level 80 and finish your personal story. This would then mean that there wouldn’t be any complications with your personal quests.

Numerical figures on HP bars is a must have, this would be ever so much more helpful. For those who don’t prefer it, it should be optional to use.

Duels and Trading is also a must for any MMO imo. Guild v Guild would also be very nice to have.

Update – The ability to view other players gear would be really ideal. Something like an “Inspect” option.

Rewards from sharing other peoples personal story.

Nemesis.1948

Hi guys, for those who don’t yet know, other players are able to help you out and play through the quests with you in your own personal story. While I think that this is awesome and a really good thing to have implemented, one thing that I would like to note is that the other people who do the quest with you don’t receive any rewards in terms of XP and loot at which you would usually receive at the end of a personal story quest.

I’m not sure if it’s bugged or intended this way and if it is, don’t you peeps think that everyone who participated should get rewards.

As of this, the only real reason to help your mates out in their personal quests is if you’re interested in the story line and not bothered about rewards.

Many thanks, Nemey.
