Essentially, my only complaint is that the small chested options all have boy hips. I think they should unlink the chest from the body type.

Notes: I was only able to log in a little bit during phases 1&2, but played plenty during phases 3&4.

I felt there were a couple missed opportunities with the event in the case of the costumes and weapon skins. Having them on the store was seen a cheap money grab and most of the weapon skins were astronomically hard to get, especially for alts.

- Increase costumes/town cloths including scarecrows, ghosts, etc instead of only having them as potions.

- Have PERMANENT skins of every weapon type that we can purchase with candy corn or tokens from doing halloween events. Essentially, if you complete most all of the events you should have enough tokens to get a weapon skin and maybe a costume piece. Then have those same skins through the item store and random chance from Mad King chests.

- You absolutely have to keep the Mad King’s clocktower. I loved almost everything about it. The sprocket that everyone clumps up on before the tower side breaks out is the only thing I would change. The debris there makes way too many issues with pathing and camera movement. That combined with a clump of players is just WAY too much game structure interfering with otherwise awesome and tough jumping puzzle.

The Labyrinth was absolutely a blast. I loved the Risen VS Villagers game. The regular labyrinth was really fun too. I would say maybe add a meta dynamic event to it every few hours or so. The other games were really fun to try out also. I think the pumpkin pvp match was a blast.

Overall I had a blast and really enjoyed it as an event. I just felt a bit slighted about the way the skins were mishandled. There were several weapon types that weren’t really represented, and the ones that were, were a mixed bag of near impossible to get or only temporary.

I loved the tower, but think the part in the beginning where everyone clumps up should have been redone. The debris blocks characters and messes with the camera too much when all those players are overlapping each other. Other than that, it was incredible.

Edit: No speed boosts on any of them.

I did the jumping puzzle on 4 characters and my friends character. He couldn’t do it because of work and time constraints. I loved the tower, but I think some of the debris and the camera in the beginning when the tower side breaks out are the real reason so many people are having issues. Once you get passed that it is tough, but not frustratingly so.

I don’t know where you come from but the largest human female body size is pretty bloated looking. She looks overweight by about 40 lbs, which is a lot. that is not skinny.

Maybe what you are asking is to have the option to make a severely obese woman.

Excuse me, but this comment is not only offensive in the extreme, it is totally false. The heaviest human woman looks like an ordianry, slender female. The rest look unnatural or near to it.
The attached screenshot is a picture of the heaviest human body type in-game. Does this look 40 pounds overweight to you?

And that goes to all the rest of you who are saying “Oh, but there ARE fat women in-game. Look at the heavy option” No. If you’re looking at the skinny option, and then click to the larger option, then the difference might make you automatically say “EW, FAT!”
Stop and actually LOOK at it. It isn’t fat in the least.

I wouldn’t say 40lbs, but she is pretty thick. There are some people in here asking for fat and obese options. I would say the largest body type should fit anyone who doesn’t like the model ideal and wants to be fuller without tipping into fat.

Edit: They have some fairly fat Sylvari and other races though.

One – the legs are too skinny. The muscle bulk and definition on the upper torso is decent in many of the human and norn models, but their legs are like chopsticks in comparison. Yes, a few female athletes have skinny legs, but many have much leaner and muscular legs. And the calf definition is terrible. Anyone doing a lot of the acrobatic style combat most of our characters do need better defined calves.

Two – allow breast size selection. Breast sliders generally don’t work out well. What Anet needs to do is have a cup size selector (because different sized breasts don’t usually have the same shape – thus breast sliders tend to look weird outside of a narrow range)

I don’t think the calves are as much an issue as to need developer attention. You can make the argument about the legs thing, but even that is asking for a minute change.

I whole heartedly agree with the breast cup slider. I mostly make my female characters very small chested, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the waist and hips on the body type with the small chest.

There is a whole lot of skinny hate in here. I am a skinny guy in RL @ 6’ and 125lbs. I have less than 5% body fat and don’t understand why someone has to be obese, ugly, or disfigured to have character/personality.

I agree that overweight people aren’t largely represented in this game. I think they should always have a fat option, but I can see why they didn’t add one from the beginning. It doesn’t make any logical sense as to why your hero would be fat after the adventures they go on.

I am a firm believer that more options is always better. I like making tall, skinny and gangly characters like myself, but then sometimes I like making a character to fit an archetype.

I don’t care what your preference is, the character models in the game look great. They do need to add more variety to the choices, but everyone in here complaining about anorexic, barbies, meat heads, etc need to realize that just because it isn’t your ideal doesn’t mean it isn’t someone else’s.

Ask for variety and options instead of bashing the ideals in the game you don’t agree with.

Signet of Illusions takes about 4-5 seconds to apply to the illusions. Start off combat with a clone to take the hit for the phantasm to survive. Also, use other CC to give the phantasm breathing room.

So it is bugged then. It should take effect immediately when they are summoned.

Interestingly enough this pages was bugged when I first loaded it lol.

I was wondering if anyone was having any issues with Signet of Illusions and Persisting Images? I have both and my phantasms can only take barely two hits from mobs that are my level and lower, even if I’m deleveled for that area. The first hit almost kills them and the second hit does them in for sure.

It may be working as intended, but I would think that stacking HP for phantasms would make them at least noticeably tougher.

Greatsword or Sword & Gun?

Armor Trinity - Why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Netfools.3640

Netfools.3640

I have never been one to buy the idea that certain classes should wear certain armor types because of PvP. It doesn’t take but a mere second to find out what class you are fighting against because their abilities are completely obvious. With that being said, my belief only works in a game where armor value disparities are not large. Guild Wars 2 seems to have little difference between armor types when it comes to pure survivability, so I don’t see why there is a point to limiting armor types, especially for transmutation purposes. That is just my opinion though.

General concerns about the Mesmer profession

in Mesmer

Posted by: Netfools.3640

Netfools.3640

While I agree with most of your post there are some places that we differ. I honestly still believe that the illusion/shattering mechanics of our class have some serious reworking that need to be done. Ranged illusions requiring melee range to shatter and having next to no HP to make it there is a constant issue. That being said, some of the utility shatters are pretty weak in my opinion.

I too hate being forced into using the staff for events and wvw. I also agree that GS #3 Mind Stab is pretty useless in its current state, animation time and area size. I also have problems with it not starting up my auto attack after using it. I have to manually start using auto attack each time I use it.

I have heard a few people complain about Moa on some curse PvP forums, but fighting against mesmers as my guardian and such has never been an issue. I wreck bad players and have a tough time against good players. I win some and lose some.

I would honestly like a ranged main hand option that doesn’t create clones on the attack chain. They could use pistol or something, but other than that I’m digging it.

We are purple, not pink btw.

I heard it was best to trait for getting illusions to cause stacking bleeds from their crits for much higher dmg, can anyone confirm this? Does this apply to clones as well?

Best is subjective. Many people can make a solid argument that shatter builds are better, or non-condition power phantasm builds are better. It does apply to clones though as well. At least the bleed on crit part.

I wanted to point out that I actually love my mesmer even though I post about all its faults. I felt the same way about my retribution paladin in the original release of a game that shall not be named here.

With that being said, I have not found a single playstyle/setup here that I haven’t already tried. All the tactics presented I have at least tried while leveling, most I have tried at max level in the mists.

There are truly some class mechanics that need to be tweaked for make the class feel fluid and usable. Right now, we still feel like a beta build in my opinion. I’m going to stick with the class to max PvE level because I love everything else about the class, but it gets harder and harder for me not to switch to my guardian or try other classes at higher levels.

Intended or Bug? Losing target/auto attack after using ground targeted ability

I have been noticing that when I have an enemy targeted I can use my ground targeting abilities (AoE) but I lose my original target and also stop auto attacking.

I don’t know if this is a bug or an intended game design. It feels really awkward and really messes with PvP more than PvE, but is an issue for me in both.

Anyone having the same issue?

Netfools.3640

I wanted to bring up a mechanic of the mesmer that I really disagree with, but forgot. I would have edited my other post, but it deserves its own post in my opinion.

I cannot understand phantasms disappearing when the target dies. They don’t even shatter, they just die and show the shatter animation. No debuffs/triggers, nothing.

I really believe that mechanic needs some tweaking. I propose a few ways of changing it and would like your feedback.

- Clones shatter when target dies, nothing happens, but phatasms stay alive until you leave combat for 2-3 seconds. Then they harmlessly shatter.

- Clones & Phantasms shatter upon target death, but damage every enemy around them as if using the shatter ability, but only dealing 75% damage. (This would help with our AoE situation quite a bit)

- Clones and Phantasms shatter after 2-3 seconds of being out of combat.

I don’t think any of them would bend numbers or imbalance anything in our favor. Seeing as we are always limited to 3 illusions at any given time.

Thoughts?

Malakree is hitting the best/most fun mesmer builds I know of and have seen.

I jumped into GW2 super excited about the mesmer class. It seemed to me to be a super fun idea and I knew I could make it hurt people bad with some tweaking. Then I played the betas… It was incredibly clunky, weak as can be, weapons/skills completely contradicted each other, etc. I felt all this because I came at the class and the trait trees the wrong way.

I came in expecting to be a greatsword mesmer pumping out illusions and wrecking people in melee with spells and trickery. Turns out it takes a lot more fine tuning than that. Luckily I found the phantasm build/playstyle and have fell back in love with the mesmer.

Tips/comments from my experiences:

-Clones in their current state are completely useless.
– No damage ( I literally mean 0)
– No HP
– Don’t behave like the player and will really fool nobody in PvP, plus AoE wipes them out instantly.
– Can’t tank in PvE and get killed faster than you can pump them out w/o burning CD specifically for them.
– Can’t hold aggro

I wouldn’t bother with regular clones unless you are trying to go with a shatter build. There are some serious problems with shatter builds though and most have to do with unreliable numbers and terrible AI problems. Clones are ranged so shatter abilities aren’t on-demand. They are delayed by a few seconds if not more sometimes if the AI can’t find good pathing, and all they do is auto attack. They also don’t have your offhand equipped.

I like Scepter/pistol & Greatsword for PvE, and Sword/pistol & Greatsword for PvP. I sack a little group utility for more single utility and damage. The scepter for PvE is because mobs WILL go after your phantasms and the scepter will give you some damage and clones while kiting. This is just a bit more useful to me than sword/pistol for leveling, but they are pretty interchangeable.

Where I differ a bit from Malakree is that I really like Bleed builds. Its pretty much the same exact spec and playstyle, you just gem out for condition damage and use the signet for increased condition damage and a stun. Also, from my understanding bleed ignores toughness, I could be wrong though.

The downside to bleed build is that it takes a good bit of leveling for the traits to make it shine. I’m leveling with that build though and have no issues killing/surviving while I get enough traits to make it shine.

Here is a link to a youtube video if you need a guideline on the basic concepts of the build and similar ones like it. *Don’t know if links are allowed so I removed the tt in the protocol.

hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBGIThvhfho&hd=1

Another interesting playstyle/spec is Greatsword & Sword/pistol going with a Mantra build. I liked the burst damage of this spec, but it is obviously limiting in AoE (All mesmer specs lack decent AoE though)

Here is a link to a build for Mantra burst. I would recommend swapping Mantra of Resolve for Mantra of Pain, but you get the jist.

hxxp://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fgAQNAR8alwzCpnRTlGZ9ICqCYHpHqWqtalegbXosB;TwAg0CnowxgjAHLOOck4sKYQxmgJBA

I haven’t done as much testing with the Mantra build, but it was a blast in the Mists and while leveling for a little while.

Ultimately, I really like the phantasm build. It feels like how the whole class should have been designed to feel. Its got enough power to hurt people, VERY useful illusions, consequences for players attacking your clones instead of you, consequences for players attacking you instead of your phantasms, decent survivability, and overall just fun to play.

Get used to swapping weapons.
Get used to kiting.
And most of all, get used to toying with players minds.

How have you build your guardian?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Netfools.3640

Netfools.3640

I absolutely love my guardian. I’m Greatsword/Hammer set because I like doing damage with two handers while still having some healing/defensive utility. As for my traits I am only high enough to still be dumping them into Zeal. There is just too much good stuff for leveling and damage in there to not fill it up first. For my heal I use the signet mainly, but swap to healing breeze when I know I will be with other players. Utility skills I use are Purging Flames (AoE burns and removes conditions), Judge’s Intervention (To stay on enemies and have more battlefield mobility on top of AoE burn damage), and “Save yourself” (Probably the best guardian ability for PvE specs). I use “save yourself” mostly offensively to get some boons before bursting, but it works wonders if you use it in a group then heal yourself.

There are some really nice sword/torch and sword/shield burst damage specs that are worth looking into, but I myself love 2hers.
