Permanent Harvesting tools in shared slots?

Can permanent resource harvesting tools be used from a shared slot or do they need to be equipped and then returned to the shared slots for use on alts?

I love having the permanent airship pass in a shared inventory slot. It is especially helpful for levelling craft skills, but having everything at your fingertips is also very nice IMO.

I probably should have looked at all of the necessary components before deciding to craft full minstrel gear for my WvW Tempest.

7 gold each X 3 Pearls per Minstrel’s Intricate Gossamer Insignia X 6 items=126gp=sad panda.

I’m guessing there is not an efficient way to farm the pearls if I was not overly keen on plunking down the cash to craft immediately? What would be the “nearly as good as minstrel’s for a fraction of the cost” alternative for a tanky zerg healer?

Looking for someone to point me to a decent starting point for full minstrel tempest. Looking to run healbot at the front of a zerg primarily with auras/damage being secondary consideration.

Thanks

Guardian and tempest is what you’re looking for.
Tempest is better if you wanna be a dedicated support, focusing on actively supporting before anything else, while guardian would be more like if you wanna play “normal” but doing a buttload of support naturally without much effort.

Great thanks, I actually have an 80 guardian and Elementalist so I will just farm up PoH’s so I can spec out tempest and give it a try. thanks again.

Probably more geared toward full zerg primarily and small squads secondarily

Looking for the best options if I enjoy playing more of a support/healing/buffing/cc role in a squad. I have a druid now that I enjoy quite a bit and that my be what I stick with, if I wanted to level up a secondary character what would be good choices to fill that role?

Thanks

Finishing off Hero Points for Elite spec

in Players Helping Players

Neurik.1624

New player alert here, I am casually trying to work on gathering the necessary hero points to wrap up my elite specs so I can switch to Druid on my Ranger to make her more appealing to fractal groups. I mainly play solo and have found it to be a huge pain in the rear trying to find (and then complete) some of the hero challenges.

Just simply getting to many of the points has proven to be a challenge and then to end up back at a WP from a solo wipe is exceedingly frustrating. Is there a good resource someone can point me to to help bang out the remaining points I need to wrap this up?

thanks

Thank you all for the replies, I was able to get my leatherworking to 400+ and craft viper gear for my Ranger. Man, that was an expensive venture even with having a decent chunk of the mats. Not sure it was worth it economically speaking but it was fun. Thanks again

I do not see any lvl 80 gear on the TP that contains the expertise prefix. How does one go about acquiring Viper gear?

Also, are price differences between gear with similar stats merely due to cosmetics? If I don’t really care about gear looks is it safe to assume it will be cheaper to gear out future toons?

It is actually on that page, at the bottom of “Fractals” but yes I realize it is a selfish build but I have also not been doing any 5-10 man content. I have not finished my elite specs and would more than likely swap to one of the druid builds for utility at that time (although that would depend on whether or not I was looking to find groups to play with). I actually do not mind playing a supporting role and tend to gravitate toward that role in most of the recent games I have played. I suppose I should just buckle down and gather the remaining hero points but I find it annoying to navigate in the heart of Maguma, probably because I am lacking a lot of the comfort and convenient masteries.

I have been playing the GW2 now for about 2 months casually, but more or less daily. Often times it is just a quick log in for the pve dailies and maybe a few quick global events and then call it a night. So far I have played an elementalist to 80 and now a ranger to 80 and my insta-boost 80 was a guardian that has been on the shelf and unplayed.

For the most part I play solo and I seem to rotate between completing dailies, global boss chain (again solo) and kittening around in Silverwastes or Drytop to casually farm crests and geodes. I have spent a grand total of 20 minutes in the WvW instance and would certainly consider going back and looking for a zerg to join (seems tough to play WvW solo?) and I have done a small handful of fractals and dungeons but nothing consistently and always with PUGs.

Finally I did manage to get my cooking and artificing on my Ranger “main” to 400. All my Ranger/Ele/Guardian gear are exotics and I have bought a few ascended trinkets with the laurel login rewards. For the most part I have salvaged and sold everything I could get my hands on to build up some gold, and then played the TP arbitrage game (always had a bit of merchant in me) to build up a small nest egg of coin.

While I still enjoy the game, my pattern has gotten a bit stale so I am looking for thoughts on what I might try now that I have a little more experience with the game mechanics in general and my characters in particular. Honestly I hate the idea of PUGing as I am terrified of being the reason for a wipe or failure. While I am willing to group, guess I just prefer the thought of being able to simply walk away and not having it adversely affect anyone else.

Finally, the ranger that I have gravitated to is a full condition damage build mostly modeled off of this guy’s idea.

http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Ranger-_Full_condition_damage

I have no basis for comparison and it is hard to judge individual performance in a world boss global zerg so maybe it totally sucks. Just messing around solo it “feels” like I mow through trash mobs with simultaneous bleeding/poisoning/burning combined with pets and traps, it feels like stuff is just dying around me while I run around harvesting resource nodes. The lacerating slash on a 6 second CD for the Hawk and Eagle really stacks the bleeds FAST too.

So there you have my background and my two simple questions are:

1. how terrible is that build compared to something I could be playing (yes I realize I could play ANYTHING and still complete world boss events)

2. Throw me a few suggestions for shaking up my routine.

Thank you for your time, totally impressed with the GW2 community at large

It appears that there is not much in the way of margin if you are trying to cook for a profit? Other than the achievements and desire to mix things up in game, is there even a reason to craft my own food now that I have hit 400 cooking?

I am guessing that if gold generation is my objective there are better ways to be spending my time than toiling at the ovens in Lion’s Arch?

What do I do with my dragonite ore?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Neurik.1624

Neurik.1624

As a new player I have taken the path of collecting and selling (vs training a craft) most resources I have found to build up a little scratch and outfit new characters. From consistently completing world events I have now built up multiple stacks of account bound dragonite ore. I am assuming that it would be dumb to just destroy it? What craft should I work up to most effectively use/monetize it?

thanks

So I have been playing GW2 for about a month now and just finished hitting 80 on my second character (rolled an Elementalist and a Ranger). They were both enjoyable to play but I would have to say I prefer the Ranger of the two. For the most part I have spent my time leveling and participating in the large scale world boss events to build up some coin.

Given that I enjoyed playing both classes I have played to date, what would people recommend I use my level 80 upgrade token on? I am intrigued at the thought of playing a tank (Sentinel?) or possibly a thief. Let me hear your suggestions and logic, thanks.
