Would love to get some feedback on this as well, so commenting so I can find this again later on.

In the beta now I did try to play around with daredevil P/P and Short bow. But my degree of success was varied… And some can probably be attributed to new players in spvp and some yet again can be to people trying out new stuff and being equally semi successful…

So yeah really want to have some insight into an updated p/p build….

There really shouldn’t be a “this Rune is fine but this one isn’t” philosophy when it comes to spvp. If something needs tuning one way or the other, then just have it done and make ALL runes a possibility. Would create more build diversity and that can’t be a bad thing right?

What got me a little ticked off is the term big game Hunter. As someone who really feels strongly against any type of hunting for sport in real life I absolutely hate this term being used so excessively, since all it does is invoke images of poachers and the like posting kittened up selfies with their kills on Facebook and instagram…
Maybe that’s just me. But that and the name dragon Hunter being so distanced from the concept of a guardian really makes me never want to touch a guardian again…

It just doesn’t fit, and I understand the reasoning by Jon Peters, but it really should be reworked.. It’s still beta isn’kitten Everything is subject to change after all… Right?

I dont particularly have any ideas on what this would be

Thieves are supposed to be a finesse fighter, at least for looks. Holding let alone using an offhand sword would be terribly awkward, unbalancing, etc. Might as well ask why Thieves don’t get a big 2H hammer as well.

I suppose there is probably some anime or something you guys are basing this duel wielding sword shenanigans off of, but that shouldn’t be a factor.

Unbalanced and awkward? Give us short swords then..?

ive spent atleast 5 hours a day farming for coffers. and not getting rewarded for it.
all i have gotten is TONS of candy some food and 2 stinking minis that i dont even care about.

If its going to be this hard to get a ticket it should be sellable since MANY people like me dont get any tickets but really want one or 2 but cant get them…

stop the RNG BS and make the skin tickets easier to get so that people can get the skins they want.

to be honest, no one cares if another player looks the same as you….

Let's talk about Fire grab

in Elementalist

Posted by: Nexrex.8273

Nexrex.8273

Absolutely see your concern, Tbh the only build I actually actively use fire grab is one where it involves changing to water atonement half way through the fire grab animation for extra dmg vs vulnerable targets while in water. In those cases I’ve hit near 10k with it on low HP targets.

That’s in pve however, in pvp it’s a waste of space to even attempt to hit someone with it, especially with timing like in pve.

Bought the wrong item by mistake (karma/dungeon tokens)

in Suggestions

Nexrex.8273

Every MMO I’ve touched and oh my its been a few over the years has as of now, implemented some sort of fair trade sell back system.
There is no reason whatsoever for this not to be in the game.
Especially so when support apparently is helpless in providing support on a game they created themselves…(yeah I’m a little surprised this is as it seems “impossible” for support to assisst on. How can they not have a way of fixing this??)

Bought the wrong item by mistake (karma/dungeon tokens)

in Suggestions

Posted by: Nexrex.8273

Nexrex.8273

It has become apparent that due to whatever kind of mistake may have cause people to wrongfully spend their in-game tokens or karma on the wrong item (misclick or lag or whatever), there has to be a way for people to rectify their mistakenly purchased items.

Let it be a timer on the transaction that if you do not alter the item (transmute, gem it etc.) it can be sold back to the vendor it came from for the amount you spent, within lets say a 30 min window or so. Easy fix, problem solved, happy customers.

Say you buy, by mistake, an axe for dungeon tokens, and you meant to click to buy a dagger, then simply sell your item back to the vendor and be re-imbursed the tokens you spent.

As it stands now, this is the kind of reply you get from support when bringing issues like this to their attention:

“While I would like to replace your items, the Guild Wars Support Team is unable to replace individual items.”

This is simply not good enough. Either you let players re-imburse their items on their own under said premise, or support has to be able to go in and help out, rather than simply brushing off the request with “we cant do anything…”

So please Arenanet, fix this fast, cause we were promised a game with close to no grief, and this is something that needs to be rectified!

“ArenaNetBraeden, ArenaNet Programmer
We’ve heard players loud and clear on this one. But we’re not prepared to answer yet because we just convened a team to investigate, on Monday in fact, and we want to give them time to investigate. For example, there may be a bug affecting FoV calculations in widescreen resolutions. We want to know what’s a bug and what’s by design before we change the design.”

So finally we get an answer! Hopefully they get things sorted fast

1. Makes people not feel sick while playing.
2. Lets us apreciate the beauty of the game. (Not a single person can say that seeing more is gonna make them enjoy the game less…)
and
3. All of the above + infinite loop….until its adressed and fixed.

“Most MMO’s have a max zoom setting, WoW, SWTOR i think LOTRO had a max zoom setting too. It helps because it gives you more situational awareness. Me personally i like to play with a top down view, as if i’m 50 feet above and behind my character. Some games like The Secret World have a narrow FOV and short zoom, and i think the devs say they did it for immersion reasons.”

-I dont know where you got the info on The secret worlds camera and fov, but having played it, I can honestly say its one of the best FoV and camera positions in an MMO I have ever seen, the camera I placed at the right height and the FoV is near perfectly made. Lets you see the actual gameworld rather than “grass, grass, dirt, oh a rock, grass, dirt…etc”
The secret world has a great camera and FoV, and its been praised for it alot of times.

I truly hope we can get a reply on this matter of FoV soon, cause its getting to the point where I rather not play than play, for fear of getting sick.

Its part of the game code allready. Adaptive fov when multi monitor or streching window shows that.
How much work could it actually be to manually let the gamers who suffer from bad fov change the setting with a slider in options??
I truly dont understand how this can be such a hard thing to do something about.

It truly baffles me how easy it is to ignore this issue from the developers. I would think that adding a simple physical slider for something that is already a part of the game code (try switching to windowed mode and drag the horizontal size of the window to see how flawlessly the game switches fov) would be a priority when it would affect people’s health when playing in a wastly positive way.

I also can not understand how this issue continue to get buried in the far reaches of this forum, when it is such an easy fix, and would solve so much for so many people.

Here’s hoping the developers actually take note of this and give a response soon.

Its been brought up on sites like guru, mmo-champ, beta forums, and official forums.

And the best reply we managed to get during posting on the official feedback forum for the beta testers, was something along the lines of “This is not the place to bring up this issue”

My 2 cents:

Field of view is something that has been bothering me about Guild Wars 2 since the very first Beta weekend event, along with the position of the camera relative to your character (ie its too close to the ground).
I, like many others are prone to simulation sickness as a result of a narrow field of view, and bad camera position. For me that means with Guild Wars 2, that I can stand playing in fullscreen for about 30 minutes before I have to give in to nausea and throw up. It also comes with severe headaches, disorientation and dizzyness and a feeling of claustrophobia.
Now usually I have this with games converted from console to pc without a remake of the FoV setting across platforms. A console games FoV is fine on Console, but not on a pc screen, where you are generally sitting much closer to the screen.
This is why the good pc games include a FoV slider of some kind, either in options (DeusEx:HR) or through console commands (Skyrim).
Guild Wars 2, has sadly, ever since Beta Weekend 1, made me and many others feel the effects of a narrow Field of view.
The sad thing is, besides the obvious physical limitations, you never really get to experience the full glory of the environments, because when you’re on the move, you screen real-estate will undoubtedly have around 70% ground in it … and the limited FoV will forever make you feel like you’re exploring the environment with eye-flaps on.
Just having a higher FoV (field of view – not zoom out), already solves a great deal of this problem, because not only can you see more of the environment horizontally (the wide-angle feel), but also vertically, allowing you to truly appreciate the scale of some of GW2’s architecture and environments.
Now seeing as how an adaptive field of view is already a part of the game (as seen from numerous tri-screen setups, among others, official ones use at conventions by Arenanet, and that the game will adjust its FoV naturally if in windowed mode, if you make the window smaller in height and keep the lenght as is) why can we not have a FoV slider of some kind in the settings menu?
Can I and all those who suffer in varying degree from this, have some sort of statement regarding Field of View from Arenanet? I have the utmost confidence in Arenanet’s ability to listen to their trusted fans, and so far Arenanet has not dissapointed.
All I/we need is a way to change the FoV manually ingame, so we can all enjoy the beauty of Guild Wars 2 on equal footing, without getting physically ill.
