It’s too late for redesigns after something like this has come out. People who bought it, bought it because they liked the way it looked. Changing the look after release should only be done because there’s a problem as it invalidates the prior purchases.
I disagree, In fact stated on Reddit before, I believe the Plasma Great Sword should actually look similar to the Plasma shield.
For better reference see attached.
I think you did a wonderful job on that! It looks much, much better than the original IMO. I would definitely want it (for my Reaper) if it looked like your version.
It’s interesting to see how such a “subtle” change can make such a big difference in the aesthetics.
Just wanted to correct my previous post… the shoulders can also be hidden. Sorry about that! I don’t know how I forgot about that. Must have been having a senior moment… :P
There’s nothing wrong with ArenaNet advertising their gem/gold services.
However, doing so right after the backlash about the Bandit Raider Pack wasn’t too bright. It’s like a slap in the face, rubbing salt in the wound, etc., and feels very much like a subtle “kitten you” to all their customers who are unhappy about the Bandit Raider Pack (and bundle-only items in general).
These questionable decisions in the Gem Store (and the general feeling of “greed”, “money grubbing”, “cash-grabs” that it’s promoting) have caused a lot of ill-will, which is obviously going to bleed over into other things, especially if they’re Gem Store related.
Unless ArenaNet actually addresses the problem (or at the very least, acknowledges it), it’s not just going to “go away with time”. It’s only going to slowly fester and grow.
So even though you’ve put the chest in the mini wardrobe you can still do the quest and get the other mini?.. or you cannot?
Yep. Add the Chest to your Wardrobe, do the quest, and then you’ll have BOTH of the minis.
Your only option (if you want to keep your heavy armor char) is to buy “Outfits” from the Gem Store. They can be worn by any armor/weight class. But keep in mind that you cannot mix-and-match when wearing Outfits. The only “customization” options with Outfits is the ability to hide the headgear and hands.
Can you hide the shoulders as well?
I’d rather not go for outfits because i’d have to get stupid amounts of gold to exchange for gems… sadly 10 usd is a LOT of money in my 3rd world country and I just can’t.
I already bought the core game to not be a freeloader, but that is my limit… so getting the gold is my only option.
That said… both the Arcane and scientist ones looks good. Something to aim for long term I guess!
Thanks for all the replies, sorry for my bad english.
Currently, headgear and hands are the only ones that can be hidden. (I’ve seen something about “invisible shoes” recently, but I’m assuming that would be a separate piece of gear, which you wouldn’t be able to use with Outfits).
The Mad Scientist Outfit is awesome. I just purchased that one myself, and I’m very happy with it.
When you’re first starting out, gold is very hard to make. But once you hit level 80, it comes a lot easier. And you’ll hit level 80 very quickly. I’m a casual player, and I hit 80 in just under a month. leveling in this game is crazy-fast!
Good luck to you, and welcome to the game!

I’d like to have the outfit, but have absolutely no interest in any of the other items in the bundle. Am I going to pay $25.00 for that 1 item I want? Absolutely not.
What should have been done, is to release them as individual purchases, with the option to buy the bundle at a small discount.
But what will most likely happen is, they’ll try to squeeze $25.00 out of as many people as possible, and when sales start to significantly decline, they’ll then release everything individually for all the hold-outs. More money that way (possibly), but is it really worth it in the long run to kitten-off and alienate your players/customers?
Blatant greed and slimy/shady business practices are why I left ArchAge and will never-ever touch another product again that has TRION’s name attached to it. I really hope that doesn’t happen with GW2. I love this game, but if if I start feeling like ArenaNet only views their players/customers as ignorant walking-talking ATM machines, I’m gone.
Don’t get me wrong… I understand they have to make money, and I fully support the Gem Store as a means to do that. But please do it the right way. Happy, satisfied customers will have no problem throwing money your way (I’ve already spent hundreds of dollars in just under 2 months). Angry, dissatisfied customers will walk away and find a different game/company to give their money to, as well as litter the official forums (and other GW2-related forums) with angry posts/threads (which is very bad for hooking potential new players/customers).
Im hearing reports of the 64bit client still having issues. Can you report back if you still get crashes?
I’m using the 64-bit client, and I’ve crashed after each of the two most recent patches (not including the one today, which I’m downloading right now.)
In general, I still crash with the 64-bit, but it seems to be a bit less frequently than with the 32-bit.
I’ve been playing for just a little over a month now, and I’ve had zero whispers or mail from Goldsellers. And I’ve only seen one once in chat, which I immediately reported.
In my17 years of MMO gaming, that is definitely a record, and incredibly nice/refreshing to see… or rather, not to see. :P
There’s also a strange (and sad) lack of fish/seafood recipes, and the ability to actually go fishing (rod and reel, not underwater “spearfishing”) for cooking mats, and just for the fun/relaxation of it. It really hurts my heart that there’s no fishing in this game. But that’s a topic for another thread… :P
I remember reading a dev post about that. They said at one point they were/are thinking of adding fishing but had not yet and when the fishing is added they said they have some of the recipes for cooking with fish all ready to go. Not sure where that post is now or if it was on a twitch stream but if I remember right it was Colin that said it.
Thanks so much for letting me know! I was completely unaware of that. (I’ll have to see if I can hunt it down, or please drop a link if you happen to find it!) That really gives me hope that fishing (and fishing-related cooking) might actually make it into the game one day.
I was chatting with my guild while looking at cooking ingredients and i commented that it would be nice if we could make coffee with them ( vanilla bean coffee ). So can we get coffee beans to use to make various coffee types with cooking?
Examples:
Mocha- chocolate bars, coffee bean, sugar, Whipped cream(hasn’t been added yet)
Caramel- coffee bean, caramel, Whipped cream, sugar
If this were to be added, then all of us coffee addicts would be able to continue our coffee addiction in-game as well.
I’m all for anything that adds to the Chef profession, and as a coffee lover, I definitely support this suggestion!
It’s obvious that a lot of love went into Chef (the amount of recipes is a bit mind-boggling!) but I wonder why no drinks were included? (Chocolate-Omnomberry flavoured coffee, anyone? :P )

Anyway, +1 to your suggestion! I would love to see coffee/coffee-bean recipes added.
The Fire Elemental is another one that goes down insanely fast. It’s such a pity, really. A Boss fight should not be over so quickly.
If I’m on a Boss train I’ll do those two, just for the loot. But I personally find them to be really anticlimactic, and not much fun at all.
Hopefully the Devs might consider at least adding some more HPs to them…
I’ve got a matching set (all 3 are “Molten”) and I love them. A bit pricey, yes, but totally worth it for me since I spend countless hours hunting for nodes (one of my favourite things to do in all the MMOs I’ve played, including this one).
And I don’t care at all about them paying for themselves. I wanted them solely for the effects, and the convenience of never running out, or worrying about if I have the right type/quality.
They’re definitely my favourite (and most-used) Gem Store purchases.
I would love to see many more Outfits added to the Gem Store. Specifically, an “Adventurer” or “Explorer” line of clothing, tailored for the various climates/landscapes found throughout Tyria.
I realize there are already a few that would fall under this theme, like the Pirate Captain’s Outfit (which I already own), and the Arctic Explorer Outfit and Jungle Explorer Outfit (both of which I plan to get when they’re available again). But why not expand on this?
I’m not an RPer, but I’m finding that I have an irresistible urge to “dress for the occasion” while exploring the world. And nothing makes me open my wallet faster than clothing choices. Backpacks for each theme would be most welcome as well, either bundled with the Outfit or sold separately.
Also, it would be fantastic if we could have more than one choice per climate/landscape theme. And they could be rotated in and out of the Gem Store (limited-time availability) throughout the year. Don’t like the Spelunking Outfit that’s available right now? Wait a few months until an alternate design for that theme rolls around.
Examples of climates/landscapes that I’d like to see Adventurer/Explorer clothing tailored for:
Desert/Desolate/Arid
Jungle/Rainforest (currently 1 choice: Jungle Explorer Outfit)
Plains/Prairie
Spelunking – General
Spelunking – Winter/Ice
Tropical/Coastal/Oceanic (currently 1 choice: Pirate Captain’s Outfit)
Wetlands/Swamp/Marsh
Woodlands/Forest
Mountain Range
Winter – General/Snowy
Winter – Frozen/Tundra/Glacial (currently 1 choice: Arctic Explorer Outfit)
Volcanic/Lava
Don’t think so – or I have not discovered it so far
Okay, thanks.
I’ve been scrimping and scrounging for every copper I can, listing absolutely everything I can’t use for my character or her crafting, and it’s… a LOT. I’ve never played an MMO before, that allowed you to list so many items (and with no indication of a limit), and it’s got me very curious.
Is there a limit to how many items you can list on the TP? I asked about this in-game, but no one seemed to know for sure…
This is my little devil/demon.
Headgear: Devil Horns
Shoulders: Masquerade Mantle
Chest: Winged Tunic
Gloves: Winged Gloves
Leggings: Winged Pants
Boots: Masquerade Boots
Back: Bat Wings Backpack
There isn’t a single, logical reason why it would be a bannable offense. All it is is a post-processor.
Thank you! I wasn’t looking down at my skills bar! I didn’t realize it gets “equipped” there (like the items you can pick up in the world). I’ve got it working (and “un-equipped”) now.
Thanks again!
I just purchased the Riding Broom from the gem store and can’t get it to work. I double-clicked it in my inventory and my character is now holding it, but I can’t ride it. She just runs around holding it. Am I missing something, or is this a bug?
Also, I can’t figure out how to get rid of it (stop holding it).
Help, please!
I have 1 character, and will only have 1 for my entire “lifetime” in this game, even if I end up playing for years.
I’ve never enjoyed playing multiple characters. Plus, I only have 1 specific “type” of class that I like to play, so I’ve never felt the need to play multiple ones. The only time I’ve ever made alts is for mule-ing, in games with poor storage mechanics/options. Thankfully, that’s not an issue with this game.
So, yeah… just 1.
I actually enjoy opening bags (that feeling of “I wonder what’s going to be in here!?”), and, as others have already said, you’re not constantly having to sort through your inventory, trips to the bank, etc., to free up space.
On a side note, though, this Halloween event (opening hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of ToT bags, along with all the general combat/zerging in the Labyrinth, and sending crafting mats to the bank, etc.), completely destroyed my mouse. I’m actually ordering a new one today. Anet, can I send you the bill? :P
You’re definitely not the only one. I just started playing GW2 about a month ago, and I had a few crashes in the beginning. But I’ve noticed that it’s become much more frequent since HoT/Halloween, and now I usually crash at least 2 times each play session.
Sometimes it your basic “crash to desktop” and a window pops up, prompting me to send a report (which I do). But most of the time the game just locks up and I can’t get back to my desktop, or I crash to desktop but still have the game’s cursor instead of my normal computer cursor. And in both of those cases Ctrl+Alt+Delete (to “End Process”) won’t work, and I end up having to reboot my comp.

This was my first Halloween in GW2 and it was a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to seeing what Wintersday is like. You want engaging? Try surviving in the labyrinth by yourself for two hours with the horror chasing you all the way. Talk is cheap.
Ditto that.
This was also my first Halloween in GW2 (played/bought the game just before it started) and I had a blast. I loved the decorations in LA, and the atmosphere there in general. I practically lived in the Labyrinth for the whole event, played Mad Kings Says every chance I could, got tons of ToT bags (and several special drops from them), tons of Candy Corn, and just barely managed to get all the things I had wanted (skins, recipes, etc.).
I also had a similar experience to Zoltar MacRoth. I was all alone in the Labyrinth one day (scary!!!!), but decided to stay and see if I could survive alone. Everything was going well for about the first 10 mins, and then the Horror showed up, and for the next hour or so I spent 90% of the time running from it. Lots of expletives, and lots of laughs!! My husband was sitting at his computer, watching over my shoulder the whole time, and just laughing his kitten off.
I’ve been playing MMOs for about 17 years and this was, by far, the best holiday event I’ve experienced. And I didn’t even do the Dungeon, and totally failed at the Clock Tower… after about 10 attempts I decided to spare myself the aggravation (jumping puzzles are my bane).
I’m going to miss the hell out of the Labyrinth (especially the Horror and the Viscount!) and Mad Kings Says (the voice actor for him is fantastic!), but now I’m really, really looking forward to Wintersday, especially since I’ve heard so many good things about it.
