Guess by your standards Warriors Adrenaline isnt a class mechanic, guardian virtues? Pffff aint nuthin but a g-thang, engineer turrets whut?
NONE of those are mentioned (and more) either newbsauce, only certain parts of each class get mentioned, it wasn’t a thorough goings over of each class and their dynamics…good luck next time.

If i somehow end up in a dungeon ANet will hire me to be a boss. Not a 1 shot bunny mob like the engineer, but a BOSS. They;‘ll have to bring in a 25man WoW class raid to pwn me. Why? Bcoz I’ll be an OP GW2 Warrior!

Necros get a poopload of pets, they all have different things to do, one of their elites is a pet, and it’s not a class mechanic? DANG!! That must be the same as saying tires aren’t needed to make a car viable! WOOT I can save $700 come next spring on All Seasons!!!!!!

Minions
Necromancers summon undead minions to attack foes and do their bidding. Whenever they wish, necromancers can sacrifice their minions for a powerful spell effect. For instance, necromancers can use the skill Summon Blood Fiend to create a minion that heals them while they attack, then use the skill Taste of Death to destroy the minion and receive a large amount of health_
I am certainly glad that pets aren’t part of the class mechanics for Necros, you should let ANet know so they can clear up their class description page. While you’re furiously typing that email, don’t forget to let them know that Engineers turrets aren’t needed, ranger pets pffffttt, mesmer ghosts?lulz

I haven’t played with the bombs much at all, they whoomp out big numbers which make my pants stiffen, but maaaannn…we should get an ability to make them STICKY BOMBS for 30 seconds or something. omg that would be omg.

I tried to play my necro again today. When I jumped onto my character I was liek “omg maybe I’ll have some fun today!” then I had some pie. The pie was fun. Necro? May as well as ate gravel then had a poo.
I tried minion spec…it was awesome to have my own party, but they were way to out of it. One of my kittenats was attacking, the other idiots were standing there waiting for the Boxing Day sales. I decided to nuke the bugger…and the one standing around eating cheese went up in flames.
So I died.
Then ran back out, got attacked by a thief and was “omg, new pants time” and omg my pets attacked him…I pranced about with my staff doing staff things on the ground (sparkly pretty) and killed a thief! Then an engineer got me…my pets had enough of that fighting BS, laughed at me and went to grab a beer.
This class DEMANDS a pet control bar with all pets linked to it. Screw AI…in GW2 I called it Artificial Idiocy…pet bar would go a LONG way to help Necros out. So would better pet pathing…sigh.
Poor necros…right there with Engineer with the most horrible pets in town (turrets are a bit better, but then again Engineers have Turrets Syndrome, a different problem).
Oxstar, it’s alright to disagree, but just an fyi : my opinions are always correct.
I still wonder why in the fluffykitten weapon DPS doesn’t affect our sweet kits…zomg I’d love to scorch that earth Vietnam style and be able to kill something besides the random rabbit that jumped into the flame (even that’s iffy, sometimes they run away Q_Q ).
It’s pretty snazzy that sigils and crap have an affect now, nothing like prancing around with the elixer gun pewpewpew’ing away with full stacks of w00tdition damage making things bleed like a vampire victim. Even better in pvp when people look, laugh and stop playing because they are having a seizure…I nearly win 18% of the time!!

So I started GW2 wanting to play a necro realllllyyy bad. Then I tried it, and it felt wrong, like eyeing up a nun, or getting in a fistfight at the special olympics.
That led me to trying some other classes. I went to the mesmer. Not a bad class, but it felt like a Rainbow parade with all the trimmings. Sparkles, pretty sounds, acrobatics and ghost friends. Then I had enough with that.
I settled on Engineer. Seriously, what sounds more like a sweet cup of pwn than running around as a 2 foot tall bomb toting, flamethrowing, floppy eared miscreant? Maybe a hobo millionaire, but since that’s not in the picture Engineer w00t w00t.
Been playing her a while, a lot of fun, versatility and nifty to look at. However, like everyone else that’s played an MMO I do have a few beefs.
When you think of an engineer you think “blow stuff up, make cool inventions, blow more stuff up, build something, blow stuff up”. Engineers have all of this…but it’s implementation is rather…meh.
Turrets for example. Fun to use, can have a HUGE impact in a battle, but they are like an Asus tablet, if it gets touched it dies. They are so weak it’s a shame. Any AoE using class can demolish my beloved turretsies, it’s ridiculous. I know that we can lay 3 at a time, but seriously? They go down faster than a politician’s career after getting caught kitten a prostitute. Add their s l o w fire time, and immobility, and well…it kind of makes them a lame duck. I call this issue Turrets Syndrome.
And easy fix to this would be to make our toolkit make them mobile when they are out, not blow them up. And assist on our target and defend only, not go off like a crazed jealous ex-gf in a bar and start assaulting everything in site. I’d rather a longer recast timer that started once they were laid out (20-30secs) and have to pick them back up to shorten the timer (like now, but with a much longer bonus to recast, and a bit shorter life – work it out, you’re the devs).
Another problem I have is we are a ranged class. Sa-weeeet! But warriors giggle as they chase us down with BETTER range and pewpew us in the dirt with much more powerful attacks. (sadpandafacehere). Wtf is up with that? And don’t have any of this “but your not ranged” because we certainly ARE. We can only equip ranged weapons (besides the tool kit for prybar entertainment). Why in the living hell are our attacks subpar? Medium range? lulzzzz no. Rifle/pistol need 1200 range, or keep the current and up our damage with abilities, especially our pistol #2 that misses everything in town (just got done a fight where a warrior I think was afk was missed by every shot and still I died). Srs? A shot. That misses anything and everything….are Engineers = Helen Keller??? I KNOW at character creation they have eyes…I specced mine extra large with big irises and they are RED!! like I am stoned!
Elixirs and the Elixir gun…kind of not engineer-y. That’s more alchemist (should be another class put in the game, just sayin). They work.
Bomb kit? Wtf is that? Junk I say, JUNK! I laid out the Big kitten bomb from my tool kit and it blew up in a crowd in sPvP and never did squat. I may as well have farted. I haven’t much messed around with it, but to me it’s junk. Grenades seem to do similar and you can toss them. Remove the bomb kit, add something else like a kitten kit so we can take care of other engineers when they get it hard by the opposite team in PvP.
Grenades. Good to play with…like my wiener when I’m alone. Blow all over the place, aimable, sexy.
Tool kit. Interesting. Pry bar kitty meow meow whatever that spec is. Hits hard but slow, like those kids that eat glue in the class for “speshul” students. Speed up the smacks (all abilities for that matter, feels like my toon is having an internal debate before she attacks., make the gear shield a shield instead of something that pops up…would be a nice engineer tank line (make Juggernaut affect this also…I’m the Juggernaut b**ch).
Not asking for Warrior DPS, or Guardian damage mitigation, but we have a lot of unique abilities, to the point that it dilutes what we are. I feel like a Jurassic Park sequel…grand scheme, great ideas, shines once in a while but is tepid…a few changes would have made this class (and Jurassic Park 2+3) quite good.
So for the TL;DR lazy bums :
Fix turrets. Make them move, shoot faster, kittens to the homeless.
Bomb kit is useless, they are like lazy grenades.
Further range on guns, more damage, pistol ability#2 shouldn’t miss.
P.S. – I like my mobile turret idea instead of blowing them up.

There’s a guy that used to live around my place, used to peek in people’s windows, steal change from cars, stand outside restaurants and stare at people eating.
That is exactly how Necro pets work at the moment.
Necros need a fixin’ , that’s for sure.
On paper they’re so kitten, then you play them….when I gaze at their pets I wonder what I did to humanity to have to see such travesties.
Today my account was suspended for the name Smashed Azzhole…wasn’t warned, just suspended for 71hours.
This is way too heavy handed, should be made to change the name instead.
Flamethrower looks to have a tankish build, with the +200 toughness in the Inventions line under Juggernaut…regens and stacks Might too. with a constant regen. The Gear Shield doesn’t look near as good IMO.
In Alchemy you have Backpack Regenerator for kit use.
Get Elixir H, Elixir B, and whatever else…might work. I’d use pistol and shield as well, 5% crit and the Earth bleed.
Something like 10(V)/30(V/VIII,XI)/0/30(II/VIII,IX)/0 might work
So I usually play my Engineer, but when I started the game I wanted to play and enjoy the Necromancer soooo bad. I looked at the class online, read the description and was “holy shiznit, that’s the class for me!!”
I’m not new to MMO’s, played MUD’s back in the day, a bit of Uo/EQ then jumped into DAoC, then WoW (like everyone else) and a lot of others in between. I’ve a fairly broad background.
In GW2 necro feels like that 3rd cousin who lives in the hills and has intimate moments with whatever farm animal he happens to have locked up beside his outhouse.
Here’s my nitpicks :
Pets :
What in the living HELL were they thinking? The bone minions suck…remind me of homely gerbils, then there’s the wtfcrap “healer” pet that goes down faster than a heroin hooker for $5 and a needle.The elite pet looks like it has kittens for hands and a head…I guess it IS named Flesh Reaver. The scorpion one is decent looking (again, looks like a hunter pet) and the shade one is nice.
In the end it doesn’t matter what they look like (yes it does) but their AI is horrendous. And absolutely NO player control of it. They should have the pet bar, and all pets linked to it so there can be a modicum of control instead of them standing there watching a house burn. I don’t know how many PvP battles I’ve been in and there they are, standing there like they’re out window shopping for shoes.
Pathing? Wow…all pets in this game are bad. It’s a give and take situation…either they follow you down the hill, or decide to run around the walls on a sight-seeing tour de force while I’m having my anus stomped by some Norn warrior. I really love when the pets run ahead of me and aggro mobs. What in the hell is that?
Why can’t we have a pet bar, pets that attack when we do, and follow a bit behind us WHERE we go, not where we might go? And why does the blood fiend not heal when he’s killed?
Abilities :
Some are good, some are bad, but all are meh. They trait lines feel garbled a bit. Seems like the pets, shroud form, etc are scattered between several lines. I understand we can go into each, but for pity sake, clean them up a bit. Absolutely nothing in the trait lines (imo) gives any real “OMG gotta get it omgomgomg” like some other classes traits. They feel…tepid. I know other classes have lines that are affected in the same way but the Necro seems to have been kicked in the junk sideways and laughed at as they pushed the class into the game.
Spite has pet, shroud, signets, then for other goodies for pets/shroud you have to dip into other lines. The weapons seem to be fine, but clean up the lines a tad. Make them more definitive.
Well..that about ends my rant. I’ve tried playing the necro for several weeks, but the issues are just too glaring. Pets that look like the leftovers handicapped dog molesters, horrid AI that makes the NPC’s in Super Mario look like they have a Cray supercomputer behind them, and more. Did ArenaNet look at the game in the last month or 2 of development, look at what no other class had and take a hot steamer on a homeless man to make this class?
Not to highjack, but UO started in 1997…15 years of MMO’s :P
But yeah, the GW2 necromancer is seriously lacking. In 1v1 I never lose to them, and when I play mine I usually only win if they are afk or I’m running with a group.
Battering Ram in PvP for me is essential. Keeps DPS at range which is invaluable.
My preferred turret changes would be :
-Damage turrets target only what you have targetted, and only attack when you are attacking or down/stunned/incapacitated in some form.
-Damage/HP scales with player damage/HP (or condition damage).
- Decrease the time between turret attacks. Right now it feels pretty sad in combat. Perhaps increase the firing time by 25%.
-If you pick the turret up, the time left on the turret should be subtracted from the cooldown time, so if I picked it up immediately after laying it (which happens quite often) I could lay it back down immediately. If I picked it up 1/2 way through it’s life, my cd is 50% left. The current way it works is ridiculous.
- Give us a mobile turret to lug around behind us, or the option in one of our trees to make our turrets mobile (I find the ground target ability option more than useless especially in a heated fight)
The engineer is a very fun class, but compared to others it has it’s problems. A slew of bugs affect us, all of our class defining abilities are rather weak.
