I think someone along the way forgot about the shield as an offhand weapon for the Engineer. So now it’s uselessly stuck in the past. With a 40 second CD (on a weapon skill!!) and limited utility it just does not compare to anything anymore in what it does and is outdated.
Show the shield some love.
Imo they killed ventari with the raised cooldown of 4 instead of 2 seconds, which was the only point that made him viable. Nothing improved except a little more healing on one skill. Those no more small delays are nothing. And their goal for this quartely update was to improve ventari. Great way to waste a quarter year.
So these quarterly big balance changes come at the end of the season so the new season will be fresh. But the ProLeague continues (finals coming up now).
Is this your intention? That they have to adapt mid-league to a new balancing and metagame or even shortly before the finals?
If this topic gets enough pages of positive discussion we might get an automated post from gaile saying they appreciate our feedback, and like the ideas

And with all those new things and features in the next update, this should be among them. Actually this should’ve been here 2 years ago. Still no response to the whole visual nerf thing, 5 gemstore inventory slot for the price of a whole new expansion, boring pvp meta, a weird league system, a new gamemode with one single map. But this is far worse. You have created this fancy new specialization feature, now make it comfortable to use before you add more and more to it.
How is this not one of the top priorities?

Thanks for posting those screenshots so people who still think any kind of visual nerf is actually making visibility better can see that it doesn’t change a thing when things get cluttered. Which they do. It only makes everything look worse when you are actually able to see things.
Also this makes the falldmg trait worthless and they can finally replace it with something good for pvp.

I don’t remember the effects for “Procession of Blades” and “Fragments of Faith” from before the patch but all other traps had their effects nerfed. LB 5 was nerfed as well.
PoB had larger swords, flashier start effect and some kind of magical mist/fire effect while circling faster. Pretty big let down.
Guess im gonna play some witcher 3 or mgs 5 meanwhile.

It’s pure rng. A friend of mine started on gw2, beat tequatl for the very first time with me and got the hoard. Or maybe some accounts are just favored by rng. Or maybe he did participate like a madman and i didn’t. Or maybe just spoon.
We only got black and white feather wings, wings of zhe sunless, shatterer wings, holographic wings, dwayna and lyssa basically are wings, glittering wings, butterfly wings, spinal blade wings, bat wings, two legendary wings, raid wings….need more wings!
Seriously though, i couldn’t care less for wing backpacks.
Did you really have to make BOTH legendary backpacks wings? Really?
You did a great job on those season 2 backpacks. I don’t care what the legendary bp is, but make something else that wings. Make it a turtle shell, make it a tank cannon, a parrot sitting on your shoulder, a demon who emerges in battle, a timemachine, a black hole, bigfoots foot, a backpack i don’t care. Just stop with the wings.

I also commented basically the same thing in another thread and agree. Teams should be exclusively put against teams in a team-league.
Gosh, it’s called a Legendary division for a thing. If your win rate is less than 80%, why don’t you just accept that you gonna be in a lower divisions? Or just play a lot more to make up for that.
You didn’t really get the point at all but looking at this 80% you took (i know, i stopped at 70, sorry) if you take a look at the leaderboards of the last 3 and a half years you will realize that a winning rate over 55 or even 60% is hardly ever achieved. With a reason because our fellow mmr will match you with ever stronger opponents if you win to make you lose. It was also said on numerous occasions that anet strived for a 50/50 with their mm.

i think the idea that it takes that long is fine.. but with that timelimit.. its kinda not doable for people who would otherwise have that high win rate, but just dont have time to play pvp all day..
Yea, even if you manage to get up there in time, it’ll be a matter of days until the reset.
You know the solution would be so simple. Just look at whatever, for example Heroes of the Storm.
2 ranked queues, one for full premade teams, the team league. One for Solo q’ing with up to one friend.
That’s exactly what we should have here. One queue to play solo or with a friend and one to go in with a whole team.
The two will never collide.

Hello there. Sit down, take a sip, have a chat, make yourself comfortable.
Today i have two points to talk about here: The league system and the league system.
1. Receiving and losing pips.
Basically win=1pip, lose=-1pip. However it was said that if you are outmatched in a match you don’t even have to win, you only need to achieve a certain amount of points to gain 1 pip even if you lose. This needs further disclosure. When exactly does this happen? An example of a recent ranked match:
We were missing one guy for half the match and were 4vs5. Our team was made of purely random people, while the other team had a group of 3 and 2 randoms. It was on Forest of Niflhel, so missing one guy is even more crucial since they can easily spend one on the Npcs and still match us. The end score was 339-500.
We didn’t receive pips. So i guess either being 4vs5 half time and against a premade wasn’t enough outmatchedness or we didn’t achieve enough points. THIS NEEDS SOME INFO (like telling the team how much points they need to score) because
2.League system in general
Let me quickly give you the maths:
To fill all the pips and knock on the legendary division (not getting into it) you need 130 pips. That’s 130 matches if you win everything. Counting ~8min per match (which is quick) it takes you 17h and 20min of purely playing pvp, count in an approx. queue time of 2.5min (which is quick) and you are at another 5h and 30min of just waiting.
You only achieve this by having a pure winning streak and never lose (which you don’t), still takes you at least 23 hours of pvp.
Now the problem. This time gets EXTENSIVELY prolonged by the fact that if you lose, you lose 1 pip. Basically you just negated that win you had before, so you spend over 20min for just nothing. And this will happen often enough since you will lose several times on your journey, due to the randomness of the teams (or not if you play in a team) and the increased opponent skill when you will be battling others of the same higher and higher league.
A win ratio of 50% gets you nowhere, 60% gets you nowhere, 70% still takes ages.
If it would be something like; win=2pips, lose=-1pip, it would be a lot friendlier OR if you would just be clear about those outmatched specifics.
Keep in mind that you have to complete these 100+ hours of pvp within 8 weeks, because in Season 2 everything will be reset.
Even then the higher divisions will be exclusively for premade teams and even they will have a hard time since they will (hopefully) battle each other. And those upper divisions are the longest ones.
Oh one more thing:
3. What’s the point?
Really though, what’s the point of reaching any of the higher leagues? The rank will be reset after the season (8 weeks). The guild challenger league is reserved for the very few best (or should i say, who spend the most time playing) and if you really want that new pvp backpack it’s probably not worth the effort of trying to go so high for those few league tickets. Just wait for the next season and start over.
Since we all know Anet doesn’t want to read or comment in their own official forums (they rather rarely sew vague information on other platforms) i welcome your opinions of these matters and PvP in general.
Wrong, the visual nerfs aren’t for PvP players benefit but for the E-sports viewers. Have you tried to watch the matches without a profound knowledge of skills and class mechanics? It is a kitten mess, can’t see what is going on, much less understand.
And that doesn’t change now at all. People who have no profound knowledge of skills will still not understand what’s going on.
As long as this trait of the berserker elite spec. doesn’t work, warriors are missing a lot of damage they are supposed to have. Fix it.
I’ve been playing Heroes of the Storm mostly, and having a blast with it too!
I sincerely hope that Anet rethinks what they’re doing with Guild Wars, because this ain’t working out.
I, too, have moved to playing more HotS than Gw lately.
next time on gw2 patch:
reduced particle effects on all legendary weapons to reduce clutter.
removed all animations from characters to reduce clutter.
removed all back piece particle effects to reduce clutter.
removed all skill animations to reduce clutter.
remove environment to reduce clutter.
remove all players to reduce clutter.
remove the game to reduce clutter.in case youre wondering anet. im basically telling you to go kitten yourself.

Just had a look at those auras and i wonder, if you make all these changes for PvP, then why do you create auras which can hardly be seen, especially in the heat of battle.
Just try to spot someone with magnetic aura, which is one of the most dangerous, during a team fight in pvp, i dare you.
You know what’s funny? While the air overload channeling effect is hardly seeable, the lightning coming down is still huge. PLS FIX!

Regarding the update just released:
Dear Anet, don’t you have anything better to do than further shrink down all the effects and call it due to visual noise? Especially since this thread has been here unanswered for two weeks already.
Like a BUILD SAVING FEATURE?

Can we please have a slider for the effect settings? That would be great and everyone could play as it suits him!

I’d like to add that many people really wanted to see all the new skilleffects when they were released in the beta weekends or beginning HoT. They often asked to see all the dragonhunter traps or the mesmer wells and so on because they wanted to see how awesome they look and got excited. Now all these effects are toned down, imagine how it would have been if they were like that from the beginning. People would be ok with it because it was never different but overall just “meh”, nothing special.
I do feel bad for all the fx people who created the great effects. But i feel even worse for the players.
Btw one of my favorite skills was 5 (Judgement?) of Tome of Wrath. That thing came up so rarely but when it hit…oh boy.

Or they release a new mastery requiring 20 mastery points each Maguuma and Kryta to unlock the “skill remembering” mastery.

Just bumping this one more time. Skills that don’t work should really not be in this game a month after release.
To be fair, players from all modes have asked (loudly) for the sparklies to be toned down a bit (read: lot). People often post pictures on here of the mass of shinies when trying to fight bosses, complaining they can’t even see them, and as such can’t see the tells that they need to dodge.
And i’ll be able to see so much more with the 50 adjusted smaller effects happening at the same time
Srsly though that is not a problem of the effects as they are but more of the scaling. They could just stay the way they are to counter this instead of upscaling them to the size of the boss.
Finally put the skin on and then this. Would appreciate a fix for the chains, too, otherwise this skin in really nothing except wasted cobs.
I do hope that it’s at the top, since that’s quite a lot of damage missing from the berserker specialization…
I do get the Always Angry buff when i enter berserker mode but all the damage values as well as my condition damage value stay the same. I guess it doesn’t work then since all other modifiers to stats or dmg are shown.

I got HoT but when i logged in a realized i am missing the build saving feature.
Daily reminder that this still isn’t in the game. It was even announced one time on reddit that it’s on the table, just buried in other things. Those other things are out of the way now and this is one of the most important thing before releasing anything else new, reducing more effects or nerf more classes.
The problem really is that there is no solution in group battles larger than 10 or 15 players. No matter how small the effects are, you wont be able to fully tell what’s going on.
I’d rather see the stuff and don’t know than not seeing it and don’t know either what’s happening. This might even become a problem for pvp. As soon as the effects are too small or barely visible, i can’t even tell they are happening and can’t see my enemies use them. See what happened to F5 mortar. Or the F3 overload of the ele.
Thanks for trying to handle the visual clutter of the combat and general visibility of what’s going on. But there must be some middle ground between visibility and looking awesome. There is no solution if there are more than 10 people anyway and if you reduce all the effects for pvp, i hope we’re not gonna end up with all the skills have a barely recognizable mini-effect.
I think this is quite a difficult task. After all i want the game and my skills to look cool, too.
Can we now finally get that buildsaving feature or build templates (whatever you like to call it) for PvE and PvP? Please?
I think it’s time that this chest (login reward) also includes a chest of exotic revenant’s equipment.
The Medic Gyro doesn’t work with the Heal Resonator trait of the Inventions spec. No regeneration is applied by any skill of it.
And i don’t think it works with Cleansing Synergy (inventions, too) either.

250 is a welcome change. You’re now making progress with each or every second hero challenge, not only with every third or even more. Thanks for that!
But that would’ve been enough for me. Toning down the HC themselves (or removing the mastery requirement of some) is a wrong move, making it too easy again (for example the two removed mastery-cap points in VB are now just two more walk there, commune, done.) If something is too hard, i continue and come back later, like i (and everyone) did in every rpg as of yet.
So: thanks for the 250 change but please don’t make the HC boring. They should be fun challenges after all, is that in a special requirement, event, enemy, adventurous way to get there or just that it’s tricky to find and discover at all.

Sounds like a great idea! I guess they already plan more glider skins (the only question is if those will be gemstore onlys).
But please finally implement that build saving feature before going into more cosmetics like this
Funny how everyone put DH in the lowest tier of all elite specs after the betas and now suddenly everyone is complaining about him. Even though he was already nerfed compared to BW3.
Also a weary revenant with infuse light can easily use a trap burst to fully heal and you can’t do anything about it because once the traps are there, they are there.

While playing tempest in PvE i realized that Heat Sync (warhorn fire skill 4) doesn’t work.
It does apply boons to myself and places the Heat Sync effect on my allies but then doesn’t copy any boons. They do not get any fury or might (or anything else, but those two are intended if i’m right). I observed this both in and out of combat.
It takes some time to get used to (for me at least).
But it’s too slow. I can’t turn, look around, target players and my ground t. skills as fast as with the normal mouse view. If the camera would actually behave like a 3rd person shooter, it’d be much better.
Purification (Dragonhunter’s healing skill/trap) doesn’t work with the trait Healer’s Retribution of the Radiance specialization. No Retaliation applied.
