Can someone please tell me how to access the Crystal Desert? There’s nothing in-game about it, no email, no notification. I asked on the Facebook page and no one answered me.
I’m there right now and I have the same bug. Now the window says there’s a new build available. Hopefully it’s to fix this stupid bug but nevertheless, we’ll have to redo the entire thing all over again. I think I’ll wait a week or so before attempting this again. Don’t want to yet be stuck at another bug at 99% progress.
I’m very curious about that as well. Did the implementation of that armor been accidently swept into the dustbin???

It goes without saying that having the opportunity to put our own music in the game is very interesting option. Like many other games I play, I like the music to fit with the environment I play in. As it is, we have 9 playlists associated with environments; Ambient, Battle, Boss Battle, City, Defeated, Main Menu, Night Time, Underwater and Victory.
As great as this option is, I was wondering if there would be a possibility to have more variety in the soundtracks that play, or, if you prefer, better localized music. Let me explain. Ambient for example, is great, but Ambient plays everywhere in Tyria; in the Maguuma Jungle, the Shiverpeaks or in the devastated lands of Orr.
As such, Ambient music should be different given the area you’re in. The Shiverpeaks we could could use Nordic music, in the Maguuma we could have jungle-like beats, Orr could have a bleak tone of the player’s choice (think STALKER). Other areas could benefit from more localized soundtrack options like the main cities; Charr, Asura, Norn and such. For instance:
Ambient Maguuma
Ambient Orr
Ambient Shiverpeaks
Ambient Ascalon
Ambient Kryta
I just wonder.

I was able to log back in no long after the first major crash. After that the DC’s occurred more and more frequently until they happened every two minutes or so. Now I can’t even log back in. Wish Anet would give us an update on things.
Seems to be happening to all servers so it might be a DDoS attack.
If it’s worldwide then something major happened. DDoS maybe?
Locked out as well.
Does Anet remember how to reboot the Commodore 64 server?
This is an idea that came to me while I was checking my wallet. I noticed that I had bits of dungeon tokens in each of them, some more, some less. I know that I won’t use a lot of them so they’re just sitting there getting all dusty. Perhaps it would be interesting if we could have an Exchange Officer (or something of the like) where we could exchange unused dungeon tokens of one kind to another.
I concur. I got stuck at the same place going solo but what really bugged me is Rytlock and Marjorie standing there doing nothing. Very solo-unfriendly indeed.
It would be nice to have both the Glowing Crimson Mask and the Glowing Green mask again on the Gem Store.
I heard that they were just going to add another three layers above each of the HoT maps accessible only by an infernally difficult jumping puzzle and gated by a new adventure where you have to shoot invisible sparks with a bent rifle whilst standing on a greased branch in a negative gravity sandstorm.
I might be wrong though.
This is GOLD!! GOLD I tell you!!
And please don’t forget the plethora of Veterans and Champions all standing everywhere, all gunning for you and only slightly vulnerable for a half second per minute. ANet don’t let us down!! Make it insanely hard, make sure there’s a booby trap right next to the end chest that forces us to restart from the very beginning!!
I have a question…
Since legendaries are no longer a priority for arenanet….
What is there to do in GW2 these days that keep you progressing your character? What drives you to continue to log in, farm events, etc etc. Is it masteries or something?
(serious legit question…havent played for more than 20 minutes in 1.5 yrs)
Not much. It’s not only the legendary thing but also the abysmal RNG that made me pretty much loose interest. I only log in to get the daily candy, open it and log off. I spend most of my gaming time playing more rewarding games.
Halt the presses, cease the hostilities everyone and rejoice instead because there’s a new glider and outfit in the gemstore!!!!!!! /sarcasm
I really don’t understand what’s ANet’s problem with content production, especially with the full-time staff of devs they have. Just take a look at the Skyrim Nexus. There are thousands of high quality mods (46k last I checked) made by ordinary folks during their free time. There are abodes, armors, followers, weapons, monsters, new zones, you name it! And that’s just Skyrim. Many games have mods that rival and even surpass original content in quality. Now how can a full-time pro team such as the one at ANet struggle so much after all this time?
Before you guys jump in to say again that if they drop more often, then they lose their value, then so be it! Introduce more loot after that that are valuable when the current batch of valuables lose their value!
Loot doesn’t need to remain valuable forever! they can be replaced with newer equally valuable items after they lose their value!
The important thing is to let PvE players feel the exhilaration from finding a VALUABLE item!Solid point.
This is how GW1 handled it. Worked for me.
And this how other games work as well; Titan Quest, Torchlight, Diablo 3…
Here’s something interesting I dug up from the forum, dating two years back:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Low-FPS-and-nVidia-employee-response
All the people who get “worthless” greens and blues, you can send them to me. I’m willing to take them off your hands, seeing as they’re worthless and all. It’s a hardship for me to do so, but I’m willing to do it to help others out.
Nice try, but I’ll keep those precious coppers I make.
On another note I’m not asking that we get continuous awesome drops like Torchlight or Diablo 3, but at least take a look at your RNG so that it may distribute something worthy once in a while…
Hate to say it, you got a precursor, you won GW2. There are tons of us in this game who have never gotten one, 5k hours here and i have never seen one. Aside from that i agree with you wholeheartedly, the loot in this game sucks. I just despise how it’s manipulated, nerfed and adjusted, and how we get less and less for our time as we go along. Don’t get me going on the DR aspect either, i just want to spit on whoever came up with this idea. Straight from the hip there…
QFT!
I’m well into 4,5k hours plunked into this game and I don’t even know what a kitten precursor looks like. I have 19 toons which I use to rotate on world bosses in Core and HoT and I can even count on one hand the exotics I’ve had as drops. All I ever get is worthless greens and blues… You know what they say about a thousand monkeys at a thousand typewriters being able to write the works of Shakespeare? Well I think they’re the same ones who wrote the abysmal RNG of this game.
(edited by Noa.7490)
Been playing since the launch in 2012 with 4500 hours of playing all modes and all I can say is that as far as drops go, I’m basically a junk mega magnet. Nothing but useless greens, blues and whites as far as the eye can see. Good job RNG!
Nope. Same size. Check this comparative map.
That one doesn’t show map areas on my iPad. Here’s another, same source.
That one is even better.
Nope. Same size. Check this comparative map.
There was a time when Anet had a passion to create and develop. Just wind back up the clock a bit and look at the original game which came out in 2005. Observe how quickly we always got updates and new contents. In a short period of time we got Factions and Nightfall, both bringing 4 new classes, tons of new armors, regular updates and new features. It closed down with EoTN.
When GW2 launched we got a smaller explorable world than the original game and had to wait 3 years before getting an expansion. But the word “expansion” in ANet’s dictionary had a different meaning in GW2 compared to what it meant in the original game. We didn’t get a new continent but 4 small maps, one of which only fully opens during a meta. The other 3 are vertical in a design that’s far from being popular. We got lots of unfulfilled promises and quite a few unhappy players. In another thread I joked that ANet had becomed “Valved”; from the company that used to make incredible games but now just makes money. What’s missing is a clear layout, a precise blueprint to create what lays ahead. Ressources seem to be horribly mis-distributed and there’s definitly a lack of guidance. If Anet has trouble getting its stuff together than perhaps they should explore a method of production called the Critical Path method (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_path_method).
And said wise man ended up on a funeral pyre only to have it’s burnt head worshipped by his emo grandson. But that’s another story.
My first thought was that it looked like the love child between a Warhammer marine armor and Robbie the robot.
Overhyped, overpriced, grindfest that underdelivers. That’s why.
You forgot to drop the microphone.
Glint’s Gaze Mask and that’s about all I’m going to spend unless the bunny ears happen to be on GS, which means of course, never.

I’m not getting my hopes too high. So far this gemstore sale has been quite lukewarm at best.
Did all storylines with multiple characters and I’m short of many mastery points. It’s really a big mess and I think Anet should recognize the problem and step up to the plate to fix this.
Still no mention about fixing the horrid masteries system in Core.
For starters it would be nice to have new areas to explore. There are many within Tyria we visited in the first game that are inaccessible in GW2.
Perhaps also, a slight improvement on the skyboxes would be nice. The flat cloud texture rolling about was nice fifteen years ago but I think it’s time for something more convincing.
Another thing I’d like to see improved a bit is the custom music allocation. It would be nice to be capable of having different types of music that reflect the region where you are; Shiverpeaks, Kryta, Orr, Maguuma and such.
Of course, like a lot of people, I’d like new armor sets. Not outfits but armors we mix ’n match.
Why couldn’t they just make Core Masteries just like HoT? Or even just tie progression to XP’s???
I concur. MP in Tyria isn’t fun nor easy. It is in fact poorly implemented. It would have been far better to have said masteries tied to XP progression but let’s be honest, ANet won’t do anything about it no matter what.
(edited by Noa.7490)
Even if the majority here don’t exactly like the Mastery points, let’s be honest; it’s not like ANet will take notice, realize their error and do something about it.
I hate the current mastery system as well but let’s be honest here, we all know Anet won’t do anything about it.
Quaggans are the Ewoks of Guild Wars 2 but with the annoyance level of Jar Jar.
I’ve been going mad trying to accomplish this recently. I’m speaking, of course, about the diving spot at the top of the Aetherblade secret base where you need to complete a jumping puzzled crafted by Satan himself. Only twice have I managed to get on top only to dive and splatter myself like a pizza, inched away from the water. Any player proficient willing to help me?
My XP bar is also “locked” because I don’t have enough Masteries to go forward. I’m just wondering why can’t the devs put Mastery orbs at different place in Core Tyria?
Here’s my wishlist:
- Avoid making the expansion like HoT with it’s super-difficult zones filled to the brim with champions and veterans.
- If any events, craft them more like the Silverwastes.
- Redesign the custom music utility so said music can be better tailored according to the different zones; Norn/Shiverpeaks, jungle, caves/dungeons and such.
- Make the nights feel more like night and not like early evening.
- New race (Kodan, Tengu or perhaps a brand new unheard of race).
- New sets of armor for each classes and with distinctive looks.
- Rearrange the distribution of Masteries so they can be obtained otehr than by grinding through unpopular and tiresome tiers.
- Reintroduce the option where builds can be saved, just like in GW.
- Bring back henchmen for dungeons.
- Take the opportunity to open up territories to explore such as Woodland Cascades, Blood Legion Homelands, Far Shiverpeaks and such and in the name of any deity you happen to believe in, don’t make them like HoT.
Something like that. What really new zones/content did we have in the last three years and a half? But, oh lookey, new wings in the gemstore!
New Zones: The four HoT zones, which are very large – I would say about twice the size of regular zones when you take into account their verticality – Southsun, the revamp of Lions Arch (which sort of happened twice), Dry Top, and the Silverwastes.
That’s 8ish new zones, which is quite a lot. And that’s ignoring all of the other content that occurred in existing zones and all of the story found in the new zones.
The four HoT zones, even if large are part of an expansion which cost almost as much as the original game. And what’s more, these zones aren’t exactly the most popular. Countless times if I go there I’m offered by the game to switch to a more populated map. LA’s revamp was done to accommodate LS and it could have been done elsewhere, in a new zone, without touching LA which was perfectly fine. The team unfortunately didn’t take the time to adjust the Personal Story and whenever you transit by LA you find yourself in the old one. A bit confusing for people who never knew the old version.
The original GW launched in 2005 got, a year later, Factions, which included a new continent, storyline, soundtrack and two new professions. Six months later we got Nightfall which again included a new continent, storyline, soundtrack and again, two new professions. Less than a year later we got Eye of the North, which opened up new territories and prepared us for GW2. All of that done with a smaller team and in the same time that covers the time GW2 came out and present time. Make the comparison and you’ll see what I meant originally.
Something like that. What really new zones/content did we have in the last three years and a half? But, oh lookey, new wings in the gemstore!
For once I’d like something to happen for real about what we want from the gemstore. Seems like we’ve been asking the same things time and time again. Are you listening Anet? Is this thing on?
Years ago there was a company named Valve, and they made games. Now they just make money. Has Anet caught the same virus?
No. Valve made one of the best games ever. Top 10 at least. It’s not the same virus.
“Look here, young one. I don’t care what you’ve done in the past. The Vigil needs heroes, not tale-tellers.” – Warmaster Forgal
You do realize there’s more work in GW2 maps than there ever was in GW1 maps? They need to account for jumping, creature design, potentially new weapon skins etc.
And now they’ll need to worry about gliding, potential masteries, etc.
Yes but the GW2 team is certainly more substantial than the original. and it’s been three years and a half, going on four.
Years ago there was a company named Valve, and they made games. Now they just make money. Has Anet caught the same virus? Guild Wars 2 has been launched in August 2012. It has now been 3 years and a half and what have we had since then to chew on? Living Season and a small expansion which received its fair share of critics. A lot of people vent their frustration on a lot of things; PvP, WvW, Fractals and such but what troubles me most is that after all this time there are enormous regions in Tyria still blurred and inaccessible among which are the Deldrimor Front, Blazeridge Mountains, Blood Legions Homelands, Far Shiverpeaks, Woodland Cascades and so forth. Some say that it’s a lot a work but see, in the same time frame within the original game scope we got Factions, Nightfall and Eye of The North. Core was fun but now it’s getting a bit stale if you ask me. From the looks of it we’ll get to Primordus when I’ll be in a retiring home…
So, how about getting to work Anet?
Also, you can roam in HoT well before hitting level 80 by going via the Guild Hall but truth be told, you won’t last long as the mobs will tear you apart.
Forget it all, I want to play as a Skritt.
