I’ve seen the list of locations (basically, the waypoints). I’ve been to each, talked to representatives at each…yet from my progress bar I seem stuck at 5/6.
Anyone know what specific action you have to take at these locations to get credit?
First off, I’m starting to enjoy the living story concept. It seems to have a lot of promise going forward as a way to keep a steady stream of new content, and the one dungeon we’ve seen so far is refreshingly different from the standard fare.
I don’t get the timing though. The best part of this update lasts only 2 weeks, when the first rather tedious installments lasted 4-5. Why did we have 4 weeks with nothing to do but set up signs and find mementos, now we get cool content but its gone in the blink of an eye?
Going forward, could we possibly reverse this?
1) Once youve been through the cutscene once, it doesn’t play again on re-entering unless you interact with an NPC and tell him to replay the scene.
2) Because of point 1, your character can access the PoI by watching the cutscene then going out and reentering the instance.
Well I found a Audio Log Collector. And he took them from me. All 12. But he didn’t give me anything back. And my progress hasn’t moved.
If you’re finding audio logs, that’s something different entirely. Those come from sonic periscope wreckage. You are looking for “mysterious device” ground spawns for the secret contact. They don’t drop any item into your inventory, its just a dialogue screen to click through for each one. The dialogue is automatically available if you have the translator in your inventory. You get the translator from the npc in Black Citadel.
I did not note what achievements were open at the time, but I’ve had this happen. For two days now, I did not receive the new dailies until I logged to the character select screen and back. In both instances, I had the achievement tracker up, having manually selected certain achievements from the monthly tab, and also some achievements from other tabs (probably explorer and maybe slayer).
Hope this helps.
As long as we’re stuck with random acquisition for account bound holiday stuff, perhaps a gift exchange could be added to allow duplicate items to be traded in for other items?
And while there are at it, i would like to know if i still need candy meter and cove map(and 2 other items from Lost Shores).
You can use toy frames to make endless tonic of toy the frame comes from.
One of the dev/cs reps said after the Karka event that the cove map and such could be safely disposed of. Assuming you believe that they won’t go back later and change their plans, I’d go with that.
Didn’t see anything about the candy meter. I’ve been keeping it and trying it in various dungeons looking for easter eggs. (Or the halloween version of them anyway.)
Please keep in mine:
The 4-1 Spark thing shouldn’t be taken as a typical way to defeat her as it sounds more like an exploit of the script then intended design.
I agree. But if not using this, how do you get past the auto-heal at 50%?
Had a group that got past that using the 4-1, but then hit a similar plateau where she would go stealth at 25%, and 4-1 was not an option. (Yeah – not enough dps to burn her in one shot.)
I’d love to know how to do this the ‘right’ way without her automatically going back into stealth heal at 50%.
Any tips?
What I keep seeing, maybe it’s a bug, is that she goes invisible at exactly the same point on her health bar every time, whether we dps fast or slow. And that point is right around 50% health.
Which means, even with a good spark run, she’s healed notably over 50%. Granted she may have only 60-65% of her bar, but she’ll still go invisible right at the 50% mark again.
Is this normal behavior, or did we find a glitch in the encounter? I timed the cycles between her invisibile phases, and it could be anywhere from 45 sec to over 3 minutes, but she’d still enter the phase at exactly 50%, just like the first time she is encountered.
Did anyone happen to get screenshots of the airship over the various cities? I tried in the Grove to find a good vantage spot for photos and couldn’t. Forgot to look in Divinity’s Reach.
Target the gift by clicking on it before you use your F key, for some reason it gives priority for picking up the gift.
That’s the problem though. For me and others, it is NOT giving priority to the gift, it’s prioritizing the revive, making it impossible to pick up the gift.
Not all players are experiencing this though, so perhaps it’s something in the settings? Or the particular class/race combo? Don’t know.
2 nights in a row of having an ongoing fractal run disrupted by “30 minutes till maintenance that may affect connectivity” messages. Connectivity isn’t really something to take lightly in dungeons that can take 60-90 minutes to complete with a good group, much less a struggling one.
Why can’t we get the same 3 hours of warning we got before the recent patches? Or is fractals considered somehow less important than the other dungeons that are apparently still getting 3 hours of notice?
I get that you don’t have to talk to the NPC. But on Blackgate server the event that leads up to this is broken/bugged, making the vista uncompletable.
Hopefully they get this fixed. There’s no joy in having to wait for a server reset in order to race to a location in hopes of catching it before it breaks again.
Does phase 3 of the event start in Lion’s Arch, like the other two phases, or does it start at Captain’s Retreat on Southsun Cove where the phase 2 event chain ended?
Haven’t seen where this has been indicated yet.
Because the game is not localized to the US.
The daily updates occur on Greenwich Mean Time (Universal Time), which is something of a “standard” time internationally, being linked to the astronomical day.
Short version: I’m looking for a group of active dungeoneers, who run most of the dungeon paths in this game reasonably frequently. I enjoy dungeons, and like to run as many different paths/zones as practical, rather than farming the same ones every day.
Details: I really like the dungeons in this game. Never mind the frequent deaths, or the allegedly poor rewards, I usually manage to come out ahead and have a good time.
Regrettably, most of the friends and guild mates I have at present only want to go near a dungeon if they need to farm some gear, and then its the same ones over and over. I start to feel bad twisting arms and dragging them into ones I want to see.
On the other hand, I enjoy the process of figuring out how to ‘beat’ a dungeon. Getting by on exploits isn’t something I find fun – I’d like to do things the proper way.
I want to find a guild of similar-minded players, that I could run dungeons with, and work through Arah’s explorable zones as well.
I have a warrior and a ranger “dungeon-ready” at the moment.
Drop me a PM on the forums or in game.
I’m wondering whether I’m going to run into problems with this, and how I would know when/if I can be sure it’s safely fixed.
A week or two ago (not sure if it was before or after the 10/1 update), I did the quest with a friend in which the characters pick a greatest fear. The instance belonged to my friend, but I was given the choice to accept the progress for my own story too.
Since I didn’t particularly enjoy that quest, and would have selected the same fear as my friend did, I chose to accept the progress, and am now on the next step in my story.
Is this going to lead to bugs or rollbacks when I get to the point of the story where the greatest fear comes into play? Or will I just be assigned to the same choice as my friend made?
I did not discover this issue until after taking the actions described, and am now hesitant to continue with the story on that character.
Having these issues on the Blackgate server. My wife is on the level 45-50 story quests involving assisting the hylek. I’m on the ones involving assisting the skritt. (Sorry, dont recall the exact names.)
She can join all of my story instances, I can’t join any of hers. She just goes right in without an invite to me, even if I’m standing right next to her. We were able to play these together before.
Also having issues with the ‘blue dot’ on the map that indicates a party member’s location isn’t showing up in the right place. Sometimes it is, sometimes it’s mysteriously halfway across the map.
Why is it that every patch, more grouping issues get broken…getting very frustrating.
Had/have the same issue. I’ve checked off every hint but one, the PvP one about using a trebuchet. Used it repeatedly, never got the hint. (Any idea how to get that one?)
Like you, I go the mail hint update without ever seeing the hint message itself. Also like you, I am sitting at 70/82, without knowing what the extra hints were. I’ll have to mess more with the trebuchets and see if mine also jumps to 82/82. I’ll update when/if I figure out how to get that one.
I finished the monthly for September about a week ago. Today I find that it’s reset back to 0, and only what I’ve done today has been credited.
Seems to be a not uncommon occurrence. Not that I mind getting to earn the pointless reward again if I so desire.
Since this sort of thing has apparently been going on for days, and this thread seems to have been posted and forgotten, judging by the lack of any indication in state of the game updates, or replies here that Arenanet is even aware of the extent of this problem…I guess I’ll add my account to the growing pile hoping it reaches the tipping point soon.
Personally, I tried a Twilight Arbor group Tuesday night. Got 5 people easily enough from guild, but several folks in map chat were telling me it was bugged. Sure enough, only one of us could get in at any time, and the rest of us weren’t able to access the dungeon at all. Click the enter button, nothing happens. We tried various iterations of relogging, made sure we were all on the same non-overflow server, etc.
Heard from others in the group that they hadn’t been able to get into dungeons for several days. Heard from map chat that no one seemed able to enter.
Seems like a widespread problem, even though I have only the one personal experience for direct evidence.
We spent three hours working our way up to the final fight of an explorable dungeon, and one person had to leave. We had a replacement lined up, but as soon as that person left, the whole party was dumped out of the dungeon back to the map we entered from and all progress was lost!
I don’t see why this would be designed this way, or what purpose it serves. Surely the other 4 of us should be able to continue and finish what we started?
