Mounted Combat

Hello, I am asking Anet for a form of mounted combat that is weaker than dismounted combat.

We know that this is already the case since mounts have less health. Perhaps it might be worth it to allow us to cast our weapon skills while mounted, or let us sue our underwater weapons while mounted, but block our utility skills. Or give our mount combat options while remaining mounted. The reason I ask this is because it is quite annoying to have to dismount to deal with weak mobs. I don’t this would be a game changing function because of the mention points, where unmounted combat is far stronger than mounted combat.

Finally, For those who are thinking about this, please keep the PoF loading screen, with the armor character riding a raptor while wielding a spear. in mind. Thanks again.

There are some people who do not fear the darkness. Instead we bathe in it, we writhe in it, we become reborn as terror incarnate. Guild Wars 2 only fed our cravings of darkness, and yet, Wooden potatoes said that the spider mount has been abandoned because it is too creepy and may be hard for arachnophobes to deal with.

We ask of you Anet, please include the spider mount in all its creepiness and wall scaling abilities. it is a glorious thing, and it would be terrible to deny us it. Make it large, and creepy, and terrifying. Its not like there isn’t already spider mobs everywhere.

To other players: please rally around this, make as many posts as you can begging for the spider mount in all its horrific glory. I have yet to hear from even one person against the spider mount, i have even found arachnaphobes in support of it.

I had a question, will we be seeing any form of mounted combat? Perhaps either the mounts have a few skills themselves or allows us to use our underwater weapons as mounted weapons, though with different skills. Would encourage us to show them off more and perhaps add emphasis to underwater legendaries.

A warning has been issued by both the Lionguard and Seraph, be on the lookout for a mischievous and notorious witch! She has been named The Nightmare Witch, she toys with travelers, and takes glee in persuading people to jump to their death. If you see her, inform the nearest authority immediately! DO NOT ENGAGE!! SHE IS DANGEROUS.

Height: About six feet

Weight: Was too scared to ask

Race: Unknown

Appearance: She is known to travel in a Mad King’s outfit, dyed shadow violet. It is unknown why she wears this. She has been known to use tonics to evade authorities…. if she doesn’t kill them outright.

Location: While sightings have been reported all throughout Tyria, many of them focus around Queensdale. Residents should be extra alert!!

Note: The Seraph are offering a reward of ten gold for any reports that lead to her capture

there already exists some forms of mounts. I.e magic broom, magic carpet etc. They could expand on this and maybe just drop a flat speed boost for mounted characters.

Hello, I had an idea for a duel system in the PvE world. The way it would work is as follows.

a player clicks on another player. From the same menu that lets you add a friend or send emails, you can challenge that person to a duel as long as the two people are within 1200 range. When that happens the other person can either decline or accept it. Upon accepting it a small but reasonable barrier is formed around the two people, they will fight to the death in this ring. The ring will act as a boundary, so no one else can interfere. In the same time the other person can’t run away. The two people fight to the death. When one person dies the duel is completed, a little victory animation is shown. Then the dead person can be resurrected by his opponent or by sympathetic spectators. (can also, of course use a WP). One of the reasons I’d really like this system is because as of right now the only way you can duel is to meet in a corner area of the mists or WvW. . I especially wished for this when someone insulted Grenth on the farms of Queensdale, I wanted to, then and there, in front of everyone demonstrate his power. But alas, such a system does not yet exist. Please think on it Arena net and implement it if you can. Thanks as always.

Edit: Someone suggested certain areas where dueling is disabled. Also a good idea for where Anet feels it should not occur. Similar to disabling of gliding.

The ring can be substituted with some other form, this is preferable but might be more difficult for anet to do.

Ok, so basically, right now in GW2 there is a major disappointment.
in HoT Anet hit the sweet spot with the dragon’s stand Meta followed by the final chapter of the HoT story. However, the Arah story still remains unattended. I understand it isn’t worth it to do a complete redo of Zhaitan in an old dungeon. However the addition of raids brings a chance to fix that. It can be released later down the line, but a raid where Zhaitan returns and the pact puts him down for good.

B) raid: Return of Zhaitan

Zhaitan was not defeated, but sent into a cocooned state. Foolish is the pact for not verifying his death.
for this raid, there are two options, either Zhaitan regrows his awesome form, this is easier, or he learns from his mistakes and takes on a sleeker form to evade anti-elder dragon cannons. For the fight, it could be the players either themselves become the pact airship, using water movement mechanism, or the players are fighting Zhaitan but this time, make it much more active, much cooler, more involved, let their actually be this feeling that you are fighting an elder dragon, and there is only but a sliver of hope.
This is my idea to get it right. They don’t even have to release this with the initial raids, it can be added in later. Many ideas Anet can toy with, I just want the fight befitting of an elder dragon.

Another idea for Guild hall, if at least 50% of the party in a raid is of your guild, then when you complete it the following occurs: upon completion of an elder dragon raid, the dead body of the dragon is transported to your guild hall, where you can see its dead body, this is to ensure it remains dead, whilst there it can have additional effects if Anet desires this, but other than that. NPC guild hall members are guarding the dead dragon’s body , maybe pact choppers dropped the body in the guild hall instance, so Zhaitan’s body is half dangling off the cliff, pact soldiers left it there and NPC guards simply guard the body where it lays, etc. This way you are always reminded of the elder dragons, everyone can see your guild’s accomplishments and it looks cool xD.

p.s: removed Mordremoth idea because final story + Dragon stand meta is awesome and fulfilling, Zhaitan remains unattented.

Hi, So I just finished beating the Zhaitan story yet again with a new friend. Something that always gets me is how Zhaitan has such an amazing appearance but throughout the entire fight he never attacks you. Tequatl is far harder.

I suggest that Arena net actually update it so that it is an actual boss fight. or change it to a raid when HoT is released.
Also honestly, I miss Zhaitan and that feeling of the risen creeping towards your race’s capitol etc. Just because he is dead he shouldn’t be taken out of the dialogue. Some honorable mentions of him would be nice, or stress minor importance to clearing out the rest of his minions. Maybe somehow in the end when the elder dragons are slain they become good? Free of some stronger being’s influence and turn on that creator/ruler? Just some suggestions, but at the very least please give us a Zhaitan boss fight.

1. Braham’s heavy armor is sweet, but i feel that white sash on the chest takes away from it. What if GW2 put a hide/unhide option for brahams chest plate that would hide the white sash or reveal it respectively. For the legging hide/unhide would remove the skirt/robe part of the legging. No one would loose out from this, only benefit. It increases the amount of customization we have as players and might increase gem sales of this armor. No one looses out from this, it only increases gem sales and allows for more customization.

2. I noticed that for gloves, shoulder, and helm you have the hide/unhide option, and i love this very much. But i am hoping that GW2 will add this for boots too. I have a very nice armor set, but my boots take away from the aesthetic, i would appreciate it if we had the hide/unhide option for the boots.

people were not ready for gw2, you want to play the game in this manifesto? i will tell you how. the legendaries etc. are purely cosmetic, the stats are easy to obtain. now, close your map, dont open it, you do not know where you are, you are in a brand new world, explore, what do you find. that is how you play, ignore the map, we are so used to grinding that even in gw2 we wish to grind to look cool, we dont care at all about fun when we started gw2, we kept the map closed, then we saw someone looking awesome, and we began the grind, we broke our promise, gw2 did not break theirs

um actually i can go in first person, take your mouse wheel and zoom in all the way. hold the right mouse button and move it around to adjust your angle, and bam! you have first person essentially plus you get to see your armor

Dynamic: GW2 did everything it promised, bear with me. can we have bosses that can go into other maps as part of the dynamic? no. why? because low population servers or low player areas, or during the sleep time of that group can cause an enclosed and highly damaged world that would take hours to repair, just for going to sleep. are event dynamic now? yes. events depending on the type, can close off areas, create other events, bolster near by areas etc. for example tequatl, if you fail him, the shore is corrupted, effectively being closed off until you decide to do something about it. additionally extra risen flock to the surrounding areas. or failing to stop the bunnies from eating the watermelons can cause local vendors to loose supplies. not gathering certain ingredients can cause different effects. either a dead group or a poisoned unit of lionguard. you choosing to help or ignore has actively shaped your world. the bi weekly living story updates makes tyria real, alive.
Grinding: there is no need to grind, everyone just wants to look cool, stat wise max stats are easy to obtain, only cosmetics are difficult. we are so used to farming that when gw2 offers us a new world, we said great! wheres the next POI i need 100% map completion for legendary. what about closing your map. pretend you are in a new world. your map does not function; what is going on this world? am i alone here? are there other of my kind (humans, asura etc.) pretend you are a first born sylvari. what is that cluster of trees let me investigate. why are their centaurs here? oh look a cave! a run in it and i find a giant, when we first started gw2, before we cared about the grind and more about the fun, we were excited when we found a giant hiding in a cave. because we knew we would have never found it unless we explored. you might say “well all that is gone anet does not have it” oh, but they do, a few days ago i did investigate a cluster of trees only to find a jumping puzzle. and i only found this because for a moment i forgot about POI’s and map completion. close your map, look around you, what is in that cave? that tree? explore !!!!!!!HAVE FUN!!!!other than that anet is doing and plans to do all it promised

6. Necromancer is a well designed class but it is not fun because enemy units focus target the minions, leaving you with no dodging, is this bad? Not necessarily, but maybe we can take some necromancers and change the visuals to make them more terrifying, (balance on spells is not being discussed here) for instance, dark energy swirls around the necromancer, the shadow fiend now looks like a human with blades attached to his arms, but he floats around slicing people, wells are now mini graveyards (an example)

7. GW2 has some awesome designs, btu when you are lvl 80 you want to feel epic, remember the Halloween town clothers? WHY CANT WE HAVE ARMOR LIKE THAT T_T, we want awesome looking weapons and armor (there are great armor and weapons in the game, but a little bit more “WOW” looks would be much appreciated)

8. When getting awesome armor etc. like legendaries, gw2 said it is not about grinding, but an epic adventure, many items in gw2 require farming, such as crafting or legendaries, my idea? Secret tunnels or caves throughout tyria that constantly shift, upon finding one you go through an epic quest and if you succeed, you find a light shining on a slab with the legendary weapon, and now it’s yours (NOTE: IF YOU DISCONNECT YOU START IN THE EXACT SAME POSITION AS YOU WERE WHEN YOU DISCONNECTED) this way its not “he has much time, but now “he has much skill”

9. I truly hope this can be implemented, gw2 is such a great game and these changes can make it more alive, and live up to its hype, arena net has so far done an unparalleled job and I hope they will take it even further with these changes

Guild Wars 2 is an innovative Game, addicting, did GW2 live up to hype? No, is it the best game yet? Yes.
But what if guild wars 2 could live up to hype? :O note: I understand perhaps not all changes can or will be implemented, however as many as possible would be great
1. Level of dynamic, When GW2 was in beta, fro mthe hype and the manifesto I expected that I would never be able to say “in 60 mins the boss will be in sparkfly” world bosses go uncompleted with minimal consequences, this is what I expected, im walking about in queensdale, hunting rabbits, suddenly, dark/ghoulish phenomenon occur, dark grass, dark sky, and minions from the godlost swamp to start attacking the small towns, and behind him is the shadow behemoth, but why? Because no one killed him, eventually if no one stops him he will take over queensdale, and no one can access shop keepers or complete hearts, because they are dead or fled(you can substitute the shopkeepers place with dead or rotting corpses) and if people still fail to stop the shadow behemoth, he will go to other maps, and everyone on the map he is in will be able to see the giant boss marker on their map, when the shadow behemoth spawns, skies should darken and people all around queensdale should be able to hear its roars, and if no one deals with it, its minions and it will move about tearing through the land, then eventually other maps, this is a world event, with these effects and the roaming of the boss and its minions, its consequences, people will be more involved, a truly living experience, I could be running about killing elementals, but the dragon and its minions near and tear through the farm fields and its village, people from queens dale come to save their precious town, if they fail queensdale will be taken over, the boss will go to other maps aiding other minions of zhaitan, while the shadow behemoths minions hold queensdale, this will have people truly doing dynamic events, (note: shadow behemoth Is an example) the situations of bosses going to other maps is likely to not occur as players will face the bosses sooner to avoid those consequences, and if the boss gets out of hand in queensdale, perhaps some reinforcements from divinitys reach or logan thackery will come and help you fight the dragon but lets say the dragon tears down the villages, then he is stopped, the village is still ruined, now you must protect construction workers (divinitys reach will also send a few warriors to protect the workers) from smaller groups trying to take advantage of the weak state of queensdale, say bandits and centaurs, and things will be normal once it is rebuilt, then you could get an event to help strengthen fortifications in preparation for a next attack. Or some wild beasts destroyed homes (as in when the wild beasts run amok in the norn starter area) and after you defeat the wild beasts you must rebuild the homes, or if you don’t stop the beasts in time you have to find children kidnapped by skrit and leave them back, where the skrit have set ambushes and traps which get harder and new toys come out for both sides as more people join. This is the level of dynamic expected from gw2 during the hype, if this is at all possible

2. Invisible walls, when scaling a mountain, perhaps as a fun short cut or looking for a vantage point, you are hindered by invisible walls, please remove these walls to make gw2 a more fun game that is truly alive, this way anyone can scale mountains and find great advantage point or when there is an elevated platform and I want to jump off and die, I’m unable to due to invisible walls

3. Music, music can make any good game great, gw2 has AMAZING MUSIC, for example, fear not this night etc. the problem? When this music comes in, music should be on a constant loop, that epic battle music, it kicks in at the end of a fight, when I start the fight I want that music, I find a new land, there is no music, 4 minutes later the music kicks in, and the music choice that plays is suited for towns, the quit sounds that give the players a sense of home, when im running through gendarran fields or Sparkfly Fen I want music that makes me feel wild, one that makes me want to fight and explore. And one that plays on time :P

4. Cutscenes bring a sense of grandeur to any world but in gw2 there are few cut scenes in the open world, perhaps I just killed the shadow behemoth id like a cutscene now showing how the swap has been enlightened and the people are cheering, as the shadows retreat or die as the sun shines with epic music playing, or after I find a new land epic music plays as a quick cut scene goes around, this coupled with vistas bring a large sense of grandeur to players

Because no one killed him, eventually if no one stops him he will take over queensdale, and no one can access shop keepers or complete hearts, because they are dead or fled(you can substitute the shopkeepers place with dead or rotting corpses) and if people still fail to stop the shadow behemoth, he will go to other maps, and everyone on the map he is in will be able to see the giant boss marker on their map, when the shadow behemoth spawns, skies should darken and people all around queensdale should be able to hear its roars, and if no one deals with it, its minions and it will move about tearing through the land, then eventually other maps, this is a world event, with these effects and the roaming of the boss and its minions, its consequences, people will be more involved, a truly living experience, I could be running about killing elementals, but the dragon and its minions near and tear through the farm fields and its village, people from queens dale come to save their precious town, if they fail queensdale will be taken over, the boss will go to other maps aiding other minions of zhaitan, while the shadow behemoths minions hold queensdale, this will have people truly doing dynamic events, (note: shadow behemoth Is an example) the situations of bosses going to other maps is likely to not occur as players will face the bosses sooner to avoid those consequences, and if the boss gets out of hand in queensdale, perhaps some reinforcements from divinitys reach or logan thackery will come and help you fight the dragon but lets say the dragon tears down the villages, then he is stopped, the village is still ruined, now you must protect construction workers (divinitys reach will also send a few warriors to protect the workers) from smaller groups trying to take advantage of the weak state of queensdale, say bandits and centaurs, and things will be normal once it is rebuilt, then you could get an event to help strengthen fortifications in preparation for a next attack. Or some wild beasts destroyed homes (as in when the wild beasts run amok in the norn starter area) and after you defeat the wild beasts you must rebuild the homes, or if you don’t stop the beasts in time you have to find children kidnapped by skrit and leave them back, where the skrit have set ambushes and traps which get harder and new toys come out for both sides as more people join. This is the level of dynamic expected from gw2 during the hype, if this is at all possible

Invisible walls, when scaling a mountain, perhaps as a fun short cut or looking for a vantage point, you are hindered by invisible walls, please remove these walls to make gw2 a more fun game that is truly alive, this way anyone can scale mountains and find great advantage point or when there is an elevated platform and I want to jump off and die, I’m unable to due to invisible walls

3. Music, music can make any good game great, gw2 has AMAZING MUSIC, for example, fear not this night etc. the problem? When this music comes in, music should be on a constant loop, that epic battle music, it kicks in at the end of a fight, when I start the fight I want that music, I find a new land, there is no music, 4 minutes later the music kicks in, and the music choice that plays is suited for towns, the quit sounds that give the players a sense of home, when im running through gendarran fields or Sparkfly Fen I want music that makes me feel wild, one that makes me want to fight and explore. And one that plays on time :P

Guild Wars 2 is an innovative Game, addicting, did GW2 live up to hype? No, is it the best game yet? Yes.
But what if guild wars 2 could live up to hype? :O note: I understand perhaps not all changes can or will be implemented, however as many as possible would be great

Level of dynamic, When GW2 was in beta, fro mthe hype and the manifesto I expected that I would never be able to say “in 60 mins the boss will be in sparkfly” world bosses go uncompleted with minimal consequences, this is what I expected, im walking about in queensdale, hunting rabbits, suddenly, dark/ghoulish phenomenon occur, dark grass, dark sky, and minions from the godlost swamp to start attacking the small towns, and behind him is the shadow behemoth, but why? Limited range, many spells have a limited range, such as simply firing an arrow, a limit of 1200, and there is a range deduction if you are on high ground, range reductions should only occur when firing at high ground targets from low ground, and perhaps a bonus range from high to low, and fix the errors where units on the lower ground can become invulnerable from units using ranged attacks from higher ground
