Issue Reports: Heart of Thorns [Merged]

Our guild can’t enter our Gilded Hollow guild hall, or rather, we can enter then about 10 seconds later we all get a message saying “The instance owner has left, you will be kicked to ….” and then we get kicked. While we are in there, all of the map markers are missing, and so is the treasury npc next to the wp.

We couldn’t do guild missions tonight properly either because people who should have gotten rewards from the bounty didn’t get any. Then we did the new guild race we just unlocked earlier today and again no personal rewards except for 1-2 people, even though we successfly completed it 15/15. At least we got favor for the race though. (On the topic of favor, how come the weekly favor cap reset to 0/2000 but the eligibility of each mission favor rewards haven’t?) Also, some of the wolves had to run across the finish line several times before they got untransformed (and no, they were not missing any previous flags either).

Guild bank is also broken, anything we deposit into it just disappears. I hope those items are just invisible for some reason and for now we have stopped putting things in there but please fix this.

Guild Missions

Same things happened to my guild. We did bounty first and people who should have gotten rewards from that never got any. We didn’t even get any favor and this might be because we already did bounty on wednesday but then why does the weekly favor cap show as 0/2000 (having clearly reset since wednesday) but we can’t get favor again?

We then did rush which we literally just unlocked today. From this we actually managed to get favor but only 1-2 of our guildies got personal rewards from it. And as others have described above, sometimes the wolves running the rush had to cross the finish line several times before they got untransformed.

The third issue, and I know this isn’t particularly guild mission related, but none of us could enter our Gilded Hollow guild hall. Those of us that managed to enter it could only stay in there for about 10 seconds before a message showed up saying “The owner of this instance has left, you will be kicked to ….” and then you get kicked out. We were really hoping we could use our new guild portal to do our guild missions tonight but because of all these bugs we couldn’t really do anything.

EDIT: forgot to mention another bug where if we tried to deposit anything into our guild banks the items just disappeared…. I really really hope that those items are still there and are just invisible. As a warning to all of you though, don’t use your guild banks until this gets sorted out just in case it really does eat all your items.

found a fix!

choose 13….then re-choose 14….char select…log out….log in

I would like to add that this fix didn’t work for me and guildies UNTIL we entered tangled depths/auric basin and tried it there. If you try this fix in a core tyrian map it will not work but I think if you try it in a hot map it should work. Hope that helps

"Treasure Hunter" impossible due to Dobbs bug

I’d like to add to this list of bugs that make this collection impossible. So… even overlooking the fact that some items are ridiculously expensive because the event chains they drop from have been bugged for ages (cough cough Sam), this collection is actually impossible to complete for me even with the “workarounds.”

For one, I also have had the same issue with Scholar Breandan as previously mentioned where the workaround does not work for me. Another issue I’ve had is with the Enchanted Key… I have the map, I have followed its instructions and went all over the place, I even looked it up on dulfy and wiki, I have walked all over the rock on where it is supposed to spawn and still nothing. I saw on wiki that it can be bugged where you might need to relog into the map to get the key but I have now switched maps several times and it is still not there. I even used /ip and guesting to make sure I was getting on different LA maps and I have been trying to do this every day I play and still nothing…

And I’m not even going to start talking about all the other collections that are bugged and cannot even be unlocked to begin with (fractal skins, champ bags etc). Doing these collections would be really great in keeping me and others I’m sure playing the game in this current content drought. Therefore I really don’t understand why these are not getting some priority or acknowledgement that they are at least working on a fix.

I also got the open glider F prompt while fighting enemies, wasn’t even jumping, and it stayed there until I hit space. Though this only happened in one specific area to the very west of the map.

Actually this happened to me in multiple areas during fights, both when I was doing the south ruins event chain and when I was fighting the wyvern in the north itzel event chain.

Yep, I’m usually good at figuring things out fast in games but activating a mastery track took me a while. My boyfriend actually had to explain to me where to click because I couldn’t find it myself. After you figure it out it’s all fine and dandy but still… Making it more like the pvp tracks would be a lot better because that way these similar systems will actually work in a similar fashion which is what you would expect intuitively.

Yes please to the fortifications. I think the reasons I personally was so disappointed in the night events was:

1. Compared to the amazing day event chains it was just such a big difference in variability. They did not engage me, I did not feel like I was working towards something bigger, unlike in the day events.

2. The fact that these night events were supposed be to be super hard and challenging because all heck breaks loose as night comes etc etc… ehhhh… Pretty much all of the day events I encountered were both more challenging and required more coordination from players than any of the night events. One day event required two groups of players to coordinate from 2 different positions on the map to take down this one boss and man was it awesome how we had to figure out the mechanics and it took us at least half an hour to suceed but it felt so good when we finally did. Night events: stand here for 2min spamming 1 until things die… as long as there were enough people at the rally points no coordination whatsoever was needed because the events were going to succeed due to their very simplistic design.

As it stands, day events are way more epic than the night events, which from what they were advertising were actually supposed to be the challenging ones.

So far I have done the iztel event chain in the 1st beta block then the south ruins event chain in the 2nd beta block and I gotta say I absolutely loved both of these day events. I am just disappointed at how bad and uninteresting the night events feel compared to these

The Masteries panel just astounded me. It was remarkably confusing to use considering the NPE where Anet was convinced that if we had 2 skills to use in the intro, we’d be so overwhelmed, we’d quit the game….

That is a bit funny. Especially when they have mentioned time and time again, that their goal was to simplify the process, as they felt that their “tack it on” approach up to this point felt clunky and unintuitive. As it is, I’m sure most people would prefer an older clunky system that they already know to a new clunky system that is even worse

on the comment about night/day events, that is a cool addition. adding a little more variety to your play, and making things a bit more realistic at the same time. Question: are these events similar to current events, like on timers that you can always come back 15-25 minutes later and repeat? or are they part of larger scripted events like we currently have in Silverwastes? I’m trying to get a feel of the options for play they are providing us in the expansion.

The day events seemed to be more similar to the way silverwastes works. As in, you need to do this event, then when it succeeds, this next event begins and so on and so forth. So you had to capture a certain area before events there began if that makes any sense (much like having to capture red rock before you can get the event to defend it and begin escorting supplies from it). So pretty much they were event chains kinda, I think.

As for the night cycle… as I mentioned before it was the same 2 events for all rally points. If a rally point was not owned: capture rally point from mordrem. If a rally point was owned then 2 events (could be occuring at same time): escort a pact soldier to it from somewhere else, and defend the rally point for x amount of time against endless waves of mordrem. Those 3 very generic “stand here and kill,” “escort this person and kill,” “kill &capture” events over the entire available map…

Also, it seems like a day cycle lasts 75min and a night cycle lasts 45min.

Thanks for the feedback. Is there any relationship at all between the day and the night events? I.e. does the difficulty of the night event change depending on the success of the events during the day?

Hey, in a way yes, but nothing that seemed too significant. It seemed that the better we did during the day cycle, the more rally points we started off with when the night cycle began (so therefore the less rally points we had to capture to begin with). However, the rally points were lost really easily since a lot of people (especially in this second block) just completely tuned out and stopped bothering with the night events. They could also be captured back just as easily though which makes the whole efforts during the day cycle seem a little insignificant :/ But maybe that was just me.

For my feedback I would like to say that I absolutely love the map and how it works. I love how it looks visually, how it is layered, how it takes actual exploring to find new paths, new ways through the jungle. I definitely think it is a nice change from more straight forwards maps we are used to in the base game.

I also don’t think that it is such a bad thing that navigating the map can be confusing. I LOVE how I sometimes take the wrong path and need to look for a work around but because I took the wrong path I got to see something cool. Besides, I think people need to realize that as we unlock the gliding and mushroom masteries, exploring will come easier and with less falling deaths

As for the events, I absolutely loved the day events (my favorite was the one where I had to throw food at a priest to disrupt the ceremony). The day events were varied and interesting.

Now for the part I didn’t like: the night events. I’m sure some people mentioned this before, but it seemed like there were only 2 types of night events: escort a pact soldier somewhere, then protect said location for certain amount of time. This contrasted so much with how much more varied and interesting the day events were.

Please reconsider these night events, either add more interesting ones or make the night cycle shorter. Maybe the point is that as a reward for doing these repetitive night events we get better loot than for the day events (can’t know this for sure yet obviously since we haven’t gotten any rewards yet really). But I think this is also bad because yet again people will be forced to do very repetitive content to maximize their profit (=grind).

2 more things I feel like could use work: mastery system, and adventures. The mastery panel, though easy to find and open, was quite confusing to navigate and it took me ages to realize I needed to click that checkmark to activate it. Please consider making it more intuitive to use, such as the pvp reward tracks.

I only found one adventure, the one where you had to pick up salvage material in a pit. However, my boyfriend and I had absolutely no idea what to do. We both just ran around in circles, picked up the salvage but did not see any dropoff area for said salvage. I even went back up to the npc to see if he offered a better description of what to do but alas I still had no idea what the goal was or how to achieve it. So a bit more description in these situations could be nice.

You say like there is some special secret to this bug. Any new player, altoholic, keyrunner, grandma can do this without even knowing what is hom points or ap.
Do a barrel roll rollback while it is not too late. Or in 1-2 days we will have a whole bunch of gods running amongst mere mortals.

Ummm yeah, this just happened to me as I was creating my usual keyrun character. Since it is quite late at night I wasnt sure at first what caused my to get my achievement chest so I admit I opened it without further examination. It was only after I did so, that I went into my achievements panel and saw what happened :/
I definitely don’t deserve that title so I’m all for a rollback but I’m not sure how they would do that considering that this seemed to have given many players including me achievement chests.

I am with Virgin, so is my bf and his brother. So no, it seems like something on their end and nothing to do with the service providers here. For now we have decided to just close the client as that one last file was approaching 300mb in size which is just ridiculous. We have given up for today, and have decided to play some other games instead as we no longer have much hope of this being fixed today.

Same here, and with my bf and his brother living miles away. I have posted about this on their facebook. So far, the only common denominator we have been able to figure out is that we are all in the UK. We are currently on ts with some guildies from the rest of Europe and they have been ingame for a while now. One of them asked in map chat of LA if anyone else from the UK managed to make it ingame and did not receive any responses.

Bottom line is, I have been trying to download the patch since it hit, have restarted it twice in hopes of fixing it (did not work obviously), and it is still on one remaining file that is so far 154mb in size. My download speed on the client is not even close to what my actual internet speed is. I just would like some sort of recognition of this problem, or should I and others like me in the UK just give up entirely for today?

Please make Fossilised Insects tradeable.

I did not want to make an ambrite weapon to begin with but since I got one of these as a drop I now feel like I have to, like many people said before me. However, since then I got 2 more drops whereas people in my guild have been farming for these without luck.
I would love to either give them these or sell it on trading post. But if we can’t do either, can anet at least put an option into the fossilized merchant to exchange extra unidentified fossiziled insects for some geodes so I don’t have to grind these events so tediously to make even one weapon…
