Planned on returning to the game after a year and half break. Have been playing since the beginning of Guild wars 2 Launch. I have vast amount of knowledge in game in Pvp, PvE and WvW although i spent a lot of my time in WvW.

I’m looking for a Active guild, especially during EU Timezone as i’m an EU Player just on NA servers. Having a close community that uses a voice communication or teamspeak is a plus, i like to socialize and enjoy the game. I’d also really like to learn raids and gain more experience in fractals.

Thanks for your time!

Literally stuck on the Blighted Pale tree. I understand the mechanics off the boss but it’s bugging out. I can get her to 0 HP before she instantly regains 25% HP back, and then starts consuming the Servants so Quickly that i cannot kill them Quick enough to stop her stacking her damage.

Not only that but, in one instance i got her health down to 0, 3 times and instantly gets back 25% HP. So frustrating

HoT Story: Sign Cutting

Obsidian angel.9863

I reached this Part of the HoT story(Chap. 14) and it required level 4 mastery for itzel which is Itzel poison.

Recently there was an Update that removed Itzel lore from the Story. However, i’ve done the updated, but it still telling me to train for itzel poison. I tried quitting the chapter and re-starting and nothing happened. Went back to chapter 13, played through it and got back to “Sign cutting” and still telling me to train Itzel poison.

Anybody have a solution on how to fix this? Or do i need to wait for a dev to reply?

The problem i have with Bombkit is the Radius. Fighting somebody whos Kiting in terms of Moving/strafing the bombs don’t hit. Even when traited for 1sec Detonation, 1 second is more then enough time for them to get out the bombs. We used to have a trait to increase explosive radius which made bombkit more viable for roaming.

I hope bombkit does get worked, especially in terms of radius.

You can use your account from anywhere in the world. The only thing region-specific is currency used in the Gem Store (it is tied to the region the game was registered for).

Good luck.

Yea but here’s what i’m trying to say. I bought the game from England and when i made my account locked in on NA Servers. If i went to america, Purchased HoT with dollars, Will i be able to actually add that expansion to my account or will it be denied because the Original GW2 i purchased is from England and HoT from America.

Well doesn’t sound much different from GW2.
-its either Zerker or Gtfo
-Events are pretty much Zerg,zerg,zerg.
-Everything is to easy
-Theres people that sit there and don’t even play the game how its intended and flip the trading post-Still achieve anything they want.
Also, GW1 pvp actually took skill. Go watch some GvG videos that have a Ventrilo/teamspeak recording too.

What does “Zerker only” have to do with “go afk and let your heroes kill everything?” At least those “zerkers” you appear to hate have to touch their keyboards and play.

I agree with events… the greatest line of a commander in GW2 when their team can’t beat an event: “we need more people”. It’s funny how this is the ONLY excuse I ever hear when an event fails…

In both games, heck in most online games with player trading, you can bypass the game content and get what you want by playing the market, sad but true.

I don’t know, have you ever seen a video of a top PvP GW2 match (for example for the Tournament of Glory) with Teamspeak/Ventrilo recording?

Zerkers have to touch their keyboard to play? So events like champ farming really requires much effort to touch a keyboard? one second while i target the champion with a ranged weapon and just wait for it to slowly die. In the mean time i can watch a series.

But anyway, Yes i have watched top Pvp tournaments. Not with the teamspeak. But GW1 mechanics are more Complex in terms of “Skill” compared to GW2. Heres an example: Warriors in Guild wars 1 could only use 1 stance a time. Meaning if a warrior wanted to spike he’d have to pop Frenzy, make the spike and if he gets focused(Of course double damage) he better make sure he has another Stance ready or expect trash talk from your team mates from dying In frenzy. What does Guild wars 2 do with stances? Oh you can Pop them all at once, Long cool downs but its okay. You’re a warrior so you’re likely to win 1vX.

Not good enough? Alright here’s another example. Speaking GvG wise in Guild wars 1. We had Domination mesmers and Rangers. They don’t just spam their skills like a No brainer. You had a role(So lets speak about ranger role). Interupting key skills. It takes skill to watch the field and pay attention to animations and making sure you’re not wasting time on a crap skill and not on an Elite. You push, chase and snare. You harrass the flagger. You do that.

What does GW2 have in terms of Pvp? Nothing compared to that at all. 9/10 Tpvp games are bunker meta. 2 bunkers and rest damage/condi. That pretty much shows that all you have to do is rotate, make a call and focus a target. Not necessarily “Spam” their skills but in some what way, they are.

GW is a game of substance, of innovation done right, of ingenuity in its finest form, all of which helped create an unprecedented game experience few games can hold a candle to.

GW2, on the other hand, is but a game of fluff – an empty shell pretending to be something, while miserably sinking in the quagmire of superficiality together with the rest of the average, the mediocre, and the bad.

Here’s also one of my past posts which expresses my sentiments a little bit more precisely:

That special feel to the game, the emphasis on team work, competition, drama, game modes that make fun, a sense of belonging, guild halls, observer mode, variety, skills that do something, clear animations, no ugly redunant character races, beautiful character designs, armor/weapons that look great and got style, a pvp and pve that are/were worth while, a concept of pvp so kitten good yet so elusive that it apparently will never be captured again, the simplicity of it all and the depth hidden within, the epic music and pve story …

But ok, fine, the original doesn’t have dodging and stealthing… instead, it has body blocking, protection monks, domination mesmers, actual rangers, prekiting, less spam and more brain, no perma anything (in pvp, but pve should have followed suit) …

Guild Wars 1 was a game of builds which you could look up online and copy. You could have heroes run most of the game for you, even in hard mode, with a few elite content exceptions.

I could literally afk with premade builds, not play at all, and kill almost anything that wasn’t in an elite instance.

There was definitely depth for theory crafters, but you could get by on the tiniest bit of skill.

There was a guy I knew who did almost nothing but farm feathers on Shing Jea Island. He farmed feathers and bought runs through everything he wanted.

Definitely a lot of depth there.

Well doesn’t sound much different from GW2.

Daily Challenges/Tasks.

Welcome! As a Long time Gw1 player since prophecies I really feel there are some systems that GW1 had that could be Viable in GW2. Down below are a few things that really GW2 could have to improve gaming experience.

Daily Bounties/Hunter/Challenges ect
In guild wars 1, We had Zaishen quests which was Missions/Bounty and Pvp. Upon completing these you would receive bronze Coins. Get enough bronze and convert it to silver and so forth for gold. If you stacked up these golds you could get Better rewards. I believe you could pick up the bounty per character and they were repeatable after completion until reset. Yes we have Guild missions and Dailies and Monthlies but lets be honest. Dailies take a few minutes-Monthly a day or so. Guild Missions only happen once a week (You get rewarded once a week.) and its maybe 2 hours ish?

I would really love to see this In Guild wars 2. Make some of these Instances so its not just Zerg/faceroll. A Slight change was to make this only repeatable x amount of times per character. However a good thing about this was if you had a bounty from Yesterday that you didn’t complete, you wouldn’t lose it upon reset AND you could still get another bounty(You could have upto 3-4 i think MAX) so you could do yesterdays and todays. I think this would make maps more Engaging, And yes it could be argued that it would just end up being a Zerg-Fest for things such as champions (Not like Frostmaw but like little champs).

Example:
Have daily Bounties/Tasks/Challenges/Hunt/ect-Go out and kill a specific champion in this Location. Or hunt several Champions in several map location. Some champions require an event to spawn.

Challenge Areas
There was a few of these in Guild wars 1 which i found rather fun and Rewarding. It would be like Defending horde waves for as long as possible or Kill x amount of horde waves in the Quickest time Possible. And of course, We could only have a party of 8. It was some what rewarding as we could kill mobs for drops and complete the challenge and be rewarded for it. There were several like Elona and Eotn had ones that gave you hero Armour tokens i guess, to give to a vendor for HoM Points once acquire it.

A well known one was the Defending Glint in Eye of the North. You would defend glint and kill waves off Destroyers and Boss’s. Get loot-And this loot you could turn into a vendor and get Gloves (Destroyer gloves for destroyer cores) and upon completion reward. (Yes this was also a well known farm spot for most part)

We could have this in Guild wars 2. Make it party size 5-10. Make it an Instance like a Mini raid or Dungeon and make it worth while. Give us drops from mobs, few champions, Puzzle rooms. Complete this Challenge before X amount of time and you get A reward. Complete it before Y amount of time and get A+B Reward ect.

So far, these are two things i really think would help give players something to do. Especially the whole bounty/Challenge thing. Most people log on, do dailies, odd few dungeons and log off. Thoughts and Suggestions on this?

There are several reasons why Guild wars 1 was so great. In my personal opinion I still happily go back to GW1 and play it for hours without getting bored compared to GW2. Here are my reasons for why:

1. Game mechanics-When I say this, I generally mean the combat. With a wide variety of builds there’s so much to do with making them for specific roles. Of course GW2 lacks in skill variation but its not just builds but how PvP actually took skill to play Builds. You can play a warrior and have to time your stances Unlike in GW2 where you can simply have Multiple stances up at once. You can’t do that in GW1 because you can only have 1 stance active a time-Like you can have frenzy and as soon as you know you get focused/bursted you switch to a different stance which cancels frenzy.

2. End game. End game is important to every MMO (Imo) Because its what people are wanting to do once they’ve done the Leveling, the story, the gear grinding, the Cosmetics they want. They wan’t to do something that will be worth while in terms of loot/game experience and Fun-Because thats what we play games for, right? But anyway GW1 Endgame was pretty fun. I mean at first we had “Tomb of the primeval kings” which was in Prophecies. It was the original Underworld if you like. Then we had the “Underworld” and “Fissure of Woe” again. Elite areas, hard, required team work and knowledge of area, Map awareness, Spawns-Not all the spawns were %100 accurate in the same spot. Then there is Domain of Anguish. So so much fun, and you are literally guaranteed to make at least a semi-decent amount of profit, if not MOAR.

3. Hardmode- Hard mode was basically making mobs stronger, their builds more affective and basically.. it was more challenging. We had Missions and if you completed the Game(Lets say factions) you could go back to Mission 1 and play it all the way up to the last in Hard mode and get rewarded with a title! Yea we have acheivements in GW2 but anyway Hardmode was what made GW1 interesting. Vanquishing(Killing every mob in the area-Sometimes theres upto 450+). Just general harder and challenging mobs to fight.

4. Farming-I’d say coming from a beta prophecies player to a GW2 player. Farming was never a problem in GW1. There were so many farming locations solo or Team that you could grind and actually Enjoy it. Veattir Farming anybody? Maybe Voltiac spear farming? Either way, we were able to farm different locations if we get bored-Meaning we didn’t feel braindead compared to gw2 pushing 1,1,1,6,7,2,1,1,1. And repeat.

5. It seems weird but Questing? I always found GW1 Quests Interesting. Sometimes they are tied up with lore and other times not so much. But it made you go out and Explore maps and areas more. I think we need something like Daily tasks in GW2 (Not dailies but tasks) I mean we had Zaishen bounties. You get a Pvp, A challenge and Quest. Completing these gave you tokens, which you could save and convert to Bronze→Silver and then eventually to gold. The rewards got better depending your coin (Bronze,Silver,Gold).

(TC) Player here. Really Enjoyed the match ups we’ve had against those servers we’ve played. We’ve had some great fights, Open field and Within keeps/towers ect. Also @ William c.6195 i think you’ll find that 9/10 BG outman TC and JQ throughout mostly all hours of the day. And i think you’re ratio is a bit wrong, 3:1? I think it was more like 1:3 on BG side. I’m pretty certain JQ will agree too. Although its nice to see you’re still learning how to count, just try not to double how many there actually is.

Either way all Deserve a round of Applause especially servers that are not Tier 1, you put up a hell of a good fight.

So called GvG

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Obsidian angel.9863

Alright so the topic is based on what guild wars 2 has for so called “Guild vs Guild”.

Baring in mind i am a guild wars 1 player right from beta and GvG was Based on One guild VS another. The objective of the game was to Kill each others Lord on each side of the map in like a fortress with a Body guard and stand alone archers+ Warriors. Sometimes their was traps/Seige like Cata. In between we had what we called “Flag stand” to gain a moral or a Benefit if you like over the opposing team and to clear Death penalty or to increase health pool and Energy pool by the slightest. So teams were based off 8v8 on 1 Map fighting to kill the lord, Do the most damage to the lord before the time runs out. And of course the maps had separate paths where you could “Split” a member or a team to another base while the fight goes on between the rest of the team.

Now here is my Question. Why do Guilds GvG in Obsidian Sanctum? I Mean the way i see it is:
-You have an Organised group of people maybe a balance or mix of support and damage
-Theres no objectives other then kill the opposing team
-To me it seems like "Drop as much Crowd control as possible, Then force push as much damage on those that made a mistake, pull back and heal up. Melee pushes for backline ect and repeat.

Am i missing something? Pvp in this game is slacking..For my opinion anyway. When i see a group of 12 fighting a group of 12 i don’t see “Skill” all i see is “Cluster AoE, Push and Pull”. There is tactics involved but..its minor. Obviously i cannot compare GW1 GvG mechanics to GW2 because they are different especially combat.

So now i wan’t to hear what others think-What is the point of “GvG” in GW2 at its current state? Why has it become so common? Could you argue that a team With heavier CC is more likely to win?

(For those of you that seem to think i am Q.Qing or hating on GvG’ers im not, Im just not seeing the Enjoyment or thrill from what GvG is in this game)

Actually i don’t think this is fair. People who have already bought the flame-kissed armour for other preffesions are going to miss out because we only have the skin for a period of time before they change it. And when they decide to update it our skins we purchased are gonna change.

Why not just give the people who have already purchased this skin the OPTION to DECLINE the Updated skin if they want to KEEP the original flame-kissed. Don’t turn around and say “You can always get a refund” Because i don’t want a refund. I wan’t the flame-kissed armour on my Sylvari necro. And i beg to differ that the UPDATED armour skin for Flame-kissed will be better then what we have.

So why should we not have the option to keep the skin just because all you human’s saved up for a armour skin? Let it sink in, because most of you people have probably transmuted other stuff from other race classes like Engineer backpack on a Thief, We Didn’t complain.

I bet you would like to be one of the few people running around with mega exclusive armor skin huh?
No this would open possibilities for account sellers. You were never supposed to wear T3 human set as a Sylvari and you knew that before the update so why can’t you understand how human players feel? I bet you would be just as upset if it was T3 Sylvari light set available to everyone.

Actually i want Cultural armour across professions. I mean Asura Warrior in Norn T3? That would be kitten. And not really, Sylvari T3 is ugly.

There doesn’t seem to be much love for the engineer right now. It’s like we’re forced to use grenades because of the amount of support, damage, cc ect it has. However I still feel that engineers need the love that necros and ravers got with spirits and minions.

Engineers turrets are terrible.

-turret traits need looking at again and re-vamp. Possible put power wrench into adept also so were not investing 20 just for turret heal?

- turrets do not scale with gear or weapon. It would be nice to see some scaling to gear like power for raw damage, condition for conditions obviously, toughness for better survival and vitality for more health?

- turrets positioning in line of sight is slow. I mean in pvp classes with high mobility moving around all over the place means turrets take even longer to adjust to have line of sight of the target. Make the adjustment time lower?

- currently it’s hard to spec into a turret build and using a toolkit to keep them alive but so being able to do damage with your mainland weapon. Because of course if you’re spending points on turrets and last trait line(can’t remember off the top of my head) you can’t invest much into power or precision trait. Meaning your turrets do little damage and so does your weapon set. ( also I wouldn’t recommend using a wrench in melee for dungeons ect…your just asking for kick in the groin.)

Hope they really look into turrets more either for the 10th December or in near future.
