Will Heart of Thorns ever go on sale?

OmniPotentes.4817

I predict HoT will go on sale within 6 months.
By the looks of it the game has been terribly received, veteran players are quitting the game by the minute. The game offers no longevity due to the multiplayer requirement nature of HoT. People on many servers are allready complaining that maps are empty. The game is bleeding to death. Anets blatant advertisement highlighting the option to trade gems for gold, tells me that players have turned their backs to the cash shop and that sales have plummeted. It’s another desperate move to make as much money as possible before all is lost. They have no choice but to offer the game on sale sooner then you might expect. I’m a veteran player. Been with the game since GW1, which I loved. I supported the cash shop up until their refusal to refund the now useless continue coin, and haven’t spent a penny in the shop ever since. I won’t buy HoT unless it’s heavily discounted. The greedy monster that Anet has become deserves no better.

To avoid having to restart the instance from the beginning with all its scenematics I’d blaze through it so I could restart at the mote. I can’t understand what all the fuzz is about. how does the buff (Tuning) work ?

in Living World

Posted by: OmniPotentes.4817

OmniPotentes.4817

Once you complete the breach the extractor will atune to the boss you killed. Heading to the lane corresponding with the same boss will net you 3 organs provided all lanes successfully complete the final event without failing to kill its corresponding bosses. Since there is no Husk Lane, completing the event while under the Husk boss atunement guarantees you 3 Husk organ parts regardless of which lane you choose or whether a lane fails to kill a boss on the first attempt provided you successfully complete the event. So if it’s badges or Husk organs you need, you’ll want to fight the Husk boss during the breach. Note: the Tunning buff is on a timer. If for example the timer runs out due to many carrier deaths you’ll get nothing despite successful completion of the event. Atunement to the Husk boss will net you 100 badges in organs alone per event completed.

Personally I have a big problem with being rewarded a toy mini I bought in 2012 with gems. So, basically I get a slap in the face for having supported the game in the past by spending real money. Very disappointing. Please make the reward for people that already have all toy minis exchangeable for the new rebreather or the magnanimous bell.

Anet needs to realize that these type of actions impact gem purchases negatively in the long run. Why buy anything from the store if we might be getting it for free later down the line.

A bit off toptic but still annoying none the less and worthy mentioning is players getting themselves killed on top of loot chests and going afk in the maze just to grief other players. These afk copses should be auto teleported to the waypoint after 10 seconds inactivity at bobble the waypoint cost.

Today I had a go at this, and turns out it’s lucrative as hell provided the map works together to successfully complete breach events. Completing the maze subsequently also rewards 35 badges. Plus by the end of my 10ish breach runs I had about a stack of exotic loot bags from events, killing champs after the breach and those that drop from the chests in the maze. I must have chucked about a hundred rares in the forge tonight. I think people have not caught on to this yet, but is seams to be far better then any champ train. The trick to maximizing profit is to successfully complete the maze event and not just run in open the chest and leave.

It took me no more then 5 hours in SilverWastes to get my luminescent gloves. Simply did the content. Got 2 armor chests from the Labyrinth runs so I’m saving my badges for the next armor piece. In case people didn’t know, you get a key for beating 5/5 bosses during the breach. All together I opened less then 10 chests. And I had a blast doing the events.

@Prientist:
What I’m saying is this is Anet. Expect the unexpected! The season just started. You had it easy last patch plus you got to profit farming keys. I had to spend my crests on armor pieces for lack of having alts. So please stop whining.

Anet pulled a classic bait and switch.

At the risk of making this into an argument, do you consider pointing out that it looks like a bait and switch is whining? Because that is what I am pointing out. You may applaud the behavior or be fan enough to shrug off a bait and switch, but I am not. If I expected a change in acquisition methods, I would not have replayed the story on 2 more characters. If I were a developer I would be disappointed if even my defenders expected me to bait and switch.

Since this move by Anet does not impact me directly I’m indifferent to it. I’m just pointing out the obvious. I also argued what their motives might be for this sleazy move earlier in this thread. The bait and switch is no doubt a cheap move on Anets part, but it also serves a purpose, which is to keep the map populated. What I consider whining is your complaint about wasting your crests on keys . Guess what, I didn’t get to buy keys. I had to exchange my crests for amor pieces. That’s the price I pay for never leveling my alts. And so we all have to live with the choices we make.

I had to farm badges last patch, cause my alts are all mules. Collecting 3k badges wasn’t hard at all. The more events are completed on a map and the more keeps remain under pact control the higher the rewards. The more bosses are killed during the breach the higher the reward. You can even collect multiple organs during one breach. The amber boss usually dies within a minute. There is plenty of time left to run to the orange keep and collect an organ there as well. You don’t even have to kill silver and gold to collect an organ. Just tagging them will suffice. Bottom line. Is it a grind? Hell yes! But it won’t take more then a few days of active participation.

So, instead of standing around shoveling kitten at Amber all day, this time around you get to play the content as it was intended.

P.S. Players complaining about wasting badges on keys, don’t make me laugh. You sow what you reap. In your case, loot bags.

OmniPotentes.4817

By omitting alt armor acquisition Anet ensures there is always a sizable amount of players around, so latecomers don’t find themselves on a deserted map, therefore unable to complete achievements.

This replaces shovel farming as a new incentive to ensure players keep doing events in the new map.

This was intended and won’t change no matter how much people complain.

Want the new armor? Do the grind!

Just wanted to point out. Eventhough it is confusing, the reason Anet chose to implement this was to some extent even out time required to get the armor pieces necessary for the new luminescent collection title by completing the story achievements by players with lvl 80 alts as opposed to event farming 1k bandit badges per armor piece in SW by players who lack lvl 80 alts. Even so, the later is more time consuming.

OmniPotentes.4817

Is there a guide somewhere to how the fight works? I’ve heard random comments about “pop the bubbles on the boss” but that’s it. I still need Gold to die, so I’d love a clear explanation of the mechanics.

The bosses run in circles knocking down everything in their path and leaving a trail of poison in their wake. Popping a bubble in agro range of a boss stops it in its track. This is the time to DPS. Rinse and repeat. When a boss is stopped it will turn around and head in the opposite direction. If the bosses meat up they will shriek/ howell, downing and killing all players just short of long range. The lower their health gets the faster they run/ move.

1. Bring stabilty and invulnerability skills.
2. Bring a long range weapon.
3. Bring speed buffs or skills.
4. DPS bubbles to 10% so they can be quickly burst when a champ is in range.
5. Players should spread out. Bursting bubbles in succession can keep them pinned down indefinitely.
5. Keep an eye on the mini map. If the champs are in close proximity get the hell out of dodge.
6. When chasing them stick to the edge of the tunnel.
7. Pray you don’t have trolls in your group who intentionally burst bubbles attempting to fail the event.

Pro-tip:
Join a party in SW. Waypoint to your WvW home borderland. There you have everything at your disposal, from bank, to trading post, crafting stations, laurel vendor, and even the forge as long as your keep is not under enemy control. Once your done, log out to the character page and back in again,, and voila, you’ll find yourself where you left off in SW and on the same server. It’s not rocket science. Simply use the tools at your disposal.

If it’s a question of resurrecting, be aware that the NPCs will res you once a combat cycle is over, provided they retain control of the keep. If that’s not the case or your not in the vicinity of a keep, then your kitten out of luck. Ask people in map chat if they can res you. If there is no one around to do that, your better off finding a more populated server. Don’t attempt to solo keep content. It’s not single player friendly content.

This time around I was a little late to the party. It took me yesterday in total about 10 hours of searching to finally find a map that was capable to succeed. I basically blazed through this chapter, but you won’t get this achievement unless luck is on your side. Players attempt to melee the champs, up scaling them in the process, mindlessly burst bubbles and kill both at the same time, not to mention that many just go afk the moment they leap into the hole.

It having a lower drop rate being only rare compared with that of the endless tonic which is exotic and tradable is silly. Anet deliberately did this to procure a sink for ToT bags. 2. As always, increase cash shop revenue by creating more money sinks and gems to gold conversion.

The advantage of Mawdrey is that unlike the other ascended back items, every part of Mawdrey can be gathered without too much luck involved.

The foxfire clusters are the only random thing, but if you craft everything yourself, and are thus limited by the timegating, then it gets very doable and pretty cheap actually. But that also means it will take at least 3 weeks to finish it.

Absolutely correct. Takes the longest to craft as it’s time gated, but it won’t cost you a penny if you decide to farm and gather all materials required. Which is not such a bad idea since it’s time gated anyway.
