You are all recognizing the problem with PvP templates versus PvE templates:

PvP builds can be constructed regardless of what items you own. The templates can even save weapon type and give you a free level 1 item if you don’t have a weapon in your inventory already because PvP has normalized attributes.

PvE/WvW builds must include actual items. This mean sharing non-PvP builds becomes very complicated. Either you simply can’t do it, or templates save out exact items for reapplication AND save out item type/level/rarity/prefix/suffix/etc for sharing.

Another aspect you guys are hitting on is the need for template ‘chunks’. This means templates are not an all-or-nothing application, but can be pieced together from various parts. For instance, you could have an ‘appearance’ template that consists only of wardrobe skins, dyes, and a finisher that you can apply and save separately from a ‘functional’ template that may contain skills, traits, and amulet.

This is quite an intricate detail, but you may even want to leave individual skill/trait slot empty in a template you’re sharing like a wildcard.

I would definitely like to see a cosmetic system that is divorced from the stat system.

I would like to see build templates have a drop down that says, “Use Wardrobe Slot #4”. You could then have 5 or so free cosmetic builds with more slots that you could unlock with gems. That way, not matter what you are doing, you could swap to your primeval outfit. Or you could copy the guy that looks like Altair or Reddit, at the click of a button. Honestly, wardrobe builds excite me more than skill templates.

Got a reply to account bound WvW level!

We will not be changing WvW ranks or WxP to be account bound. However, we are going to be implementing a host of changes that should make this seem less like some sort of punishment(a categorization I disagree with entirely) and more of a character progression system. The first step is the liquid WXP that is being added to the rank up chests which is account-bound. We are planning additional systems as well. Hopefully, as we continue to announce some of those changes, you will be happier with the system.

I don’t really agree with this, either. All I know is that I don’t want to play anything but my Elementalist, because she has the most Wxp.

I don’t really see that changing even if they add liquid Wxp. That only means that I will spend it on my Ele. Why would I want to split my Wxp gain?!?

Another for the list of features: wardrobe codes.

When you go to the forums to show off your awesome armor set you can share a code that will match the armor pieces and dyes.

Nope to the ascended items. It adds power creep to the game, and creates a divide in the player base.

To the guy that quits for 6 months and comes back, I hope you like spending a week grinding random crap to catch up with us.

I don’t quite understand why people are getting upset over the mention of Ascended gear. It’s a fraction better than exotics, and it gives you a decent upgrade in end-game dungeons. You work for them to progress your character so that he/she can do the content even more easily.

This isn’t a grind. It’s called progression. Cosmetic rewards are wonderful and all, but it’s not bad to have something to work towards that affects you otherwise.

Also, remember that this content update in November is only introducing accessories/back equipment for Ascended. No armor, no weapons.

People are mad because the number starts small, and grows over time. Think about how it works in WoW. Things like level 60 content are completely abandoned because gear inflates to a point where 25 man bosses can be soloed.

What does this mean for WvWvW, and all other PvE? If my stats slowly grow, wouldn’t that mean that running around in the world will become less challenging to a point where it is so easy that it isn’t fun? Eventually it will get to a point where all but the latest dungeon is challenging, and everything else is a joke.

In WvWvW, won’t I want Ascended gear to continue to be effective?

I would rather have seen a blog post to address these issues rather than “Hey, I hope you like bigger numbers!!”

Tried 4 or 5 times, then said “nope, I’m’a farm some more candy corns.” Been happy since.

When I made this map I was HOPING that people who aren’t into jumping would do exactly this. They’d see a fun Halloween looking environment, maybe get to the first chest and snag a goodie, then be on their merry way. I see now it was a mistake to make the hardest jumping challenge in the game part of an in-your-face update like a holiday event. I’m not going to stop making difficult stuff like this, they just won’t be so prominent in the future. I honestly hate making people upset and have a very high level of empathy. So it’s been hard hearing all the people that are so angry, frustrated and sad because of something I’ve made. But it’s just another lesson learned.

My wife did exactly what you described. She zoned in, tried it a few times and then gave up because it wasn’t for her. But I loved it! The fact that it was timed and limited meant that there were a ton of randoms cheering each other on. Please don’t lose heart.

I think the major issue with it was that it was pretty vague whether or not it was required for the Mad King title. I had to correct most of my friends, and some of them still though it was optional but it still counted (like you could get 7/5 for the event, or skip events).

I need this! It was the only reason why I played DCUO for as long as I did. I am even fine with taking a penalty on both sides (storing and withdrawing), as long as it isn’t too crazy.

The loot you’d get though will be level based so if you get a kewl looking weapon an you are only level 40 then it will be worthless very quicky but if you are level 80 then it would be valuable for a long time.. Remember this ISN’T GW1 so things can and probably will be DIFFERENT in how they distribute and create things for THIS game.

I am not really concerned with the stats or level, as much as I am about the skin. I feel that the skin is more important than the stats. The stats in this game have a very finite ceiling, whereas a good skin will last forever.

Has Guild Wars 2 been worth your $60.00?

Yup, I would agree that it’s worth the money. Even if I was disappointed with the Halloween patch and felt like there was nothing to do, I am still glad that I spent the money. Also, I can quit for a few patches and not worry about my armor quickly becoming worthless. Also, I don’t have to debate whether or not my sub is worth it.

Currently, I still feel like I have a lot of stuff to do, and I am not nearly done with the game.

If it’s the same as in GW1, it doesnt really matter what level you are for the minigames, and the quests were often limited to starter areas. So I don’t think you need to be 80 to enjoy it

That is my hope, but I could just as easily see 99% of the stuff you are able to do at any level, but to get [Mad King Thorn’s Awesome Sword of Awesomeness], you will need to collect stuff from multiple zones (including Orr).

I was wondering if anyone knew what the level requirements would be for Halloween 2012?

I am afraid that I won’t be 80 by the time that it drops. I have rerolled twice and I am playing with buds on alts, and wasted way too much time exploring and doing jumping puzzles.

I am guessing that since your level isn’t a big deal in this game, that you won’t need to be a very high level. My hope is that the events take place in the starting zones, and that anyone can do it.

I was just wondering if there has been an official word on it.
