If you already have Swiftness then the symbol will just add 1 second per tick onto the duration.
This is correct.
What drivers did you install?
I don’t see the issue with “You have been warned” being used in the final line. It’s just there to denote the seriousness of the post. It more or less relates to the paragraph just above it.
The whole post itself is a warning on it’s own to inform you of the consequences. There is no reason to add the “You have been warned” line at the bottom. It is threatening and unnecessary when the whole post already states that.
You don’t need to add the extra emphasis at the end to warn people when the post itself clearly states exactly that. It is aggressive, threatening, and unprofessional.
Reinforcement of power wielded.
It’s really just unnecessary.
Fair enough.

The Living Story sections are generally have more of these kinds of posts.
ArenaNet wants constructive feedback and for us to talk about the game or changes within the game. We should not be including the author in the discussion anyway. ArenaNet developers are human, just like us and they will make mistakes. Our role on the forums should be to help them fix these mistakes instead of berating them for making mistakes in the first place.
Sadly, it doesn’t work this way. It’s the digital age of the internet we live in so some people believe they can make an attack on someone else and get away with it.
These changes are a good step in educating people about what is appropriate to say and what isn’t.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Renewed_Focus
Wiki page says it all. Hasn’t been updated for this patch yet.
Invulnerability duration lasts only 2 seconds, 3 seconds with Elite Focus
We got a tooltip update.
Renewed Focus wasn’t 3 seconds prior to the patch anyway (regardless of what the tooltip said). Always seemed 2 seconds to me – tested with a timer under Lupicus’ float-in-the-air AoE lifesteal attack.
My rig in my sig. Still suffers traumatic fps drops at times. Poor PC…

Well that’s the thing. The engine isn’t well designed so by simply having more people on the map causes more and more load on the game’s engine (which doesn’t scale with GPU power).
It’s like spawning 2000 cheese wedges in Skyrim and rolling them all off a mountain. Lag everywhere :|
We’re not too sure if things outside of the culling range are still processed or not.
Edit: I have a feeling I have no idea what you’re talking about in the first post lol.
(edited by OptimusPrimo.9547)
Look at these two settings:
Character Model Quality: Lowest, Low, Medium, High, Highest
Character Model Limit: Lowest, Low Medium, High, Highest
I think auto detect defaults these to high. Setting these lower will start to cull people and give them generic clothing.
You can switch back and forth between high and lowest for LA hangouts and zerg rushes.
The high GPU usage without the FPS to show for it just means poor optimization. We’ve seen it time and time again from poorly ported console-to-PC games like Prototype 2.
I’m not sure about the hard thing though, I run my game off an SSD so I can’t test that.

It could just be two issues occurring at the same time.
A large zerg would cripple your FPS.
A large zerg would also increase the network load to your computer (and from the server) causing skill lag.
So you get lag and poor fps at the same time?
I’m still betting it’s the ArenaNet servers.
Do you get error 42?
The error usually causes your guild roster will be empty except for you, friends will all appear offline, inability to create or join a party, cannot whisper people. However map and /say chat will still work normally. Do you see any of these symptoms?
Normally that error is supposedly caused by a weak connection to the server (one connection is for the main game and there is another for social functions).

A 500W PSU is good enough for your machine. The brand (which can dictate performance) might be an issue. What brand is your PSU?
Also how do you know your video card shuts off? Nevermind, you said black screen and a hard restart.
That machine will struggle with Guild Wars 2.
@ MaideN
What are the current graphics settings for Guild Wars 2 set to?
Sometimes people don’t bother tweaking that and just opt for auto-detect which puts reflections on all (which is a potential fps killer).
Also are you running on supersample instead of native? LOD – Ultra and Shadows Ultra are both buggy. I also think the auto detect could set your culling detail and limit too high.
I’d had a similar experience with a different overlay combination.
Steam overlay + Boulotaur2024’s SweetFX (modified WIP of the original) = Guild Wars 2 telling me I don’t have a graphics card capable of Direct3D output. Go figure…
About a 10 fps drop (from 85 to 75 in isolated LA), occasional jittery fps on camera movement (fps still at 75, no other players in the area), lighting appears to be darker? (no bloom effect but other light sources are darker as well), slight loss of shader detail (my character’s face looks like he got plastic surgery). No noticeable visual improvement in any areas that I can see atm. Maybe it works well with hardware forced AA?

The gold to gem ratio will rise or fall depending on gem store sales and the current inflation of gold in the game. The easier gold is to acquire, the more gold it takes to convert into the same number of gems.
Oddly enough I was about to suggest the ASUS G750 as well. Solid performer (and a tad heavy).
I’m guessing it has something to do with fragmentation of the main .dat file.
My SSD (see sig) has the same issues as you’ve all described above.
Edit: Defragged the .dat file (my poor SSD) and did absolutely nothing. Guess I wouldn’t have worked anyway.

I’ve seen no such thing across Windows 7, 8 and the 8.1 Preview.
There seems to be a lot of emphasis on crystals in this patch… I’m wondering if it has any connection to Kralkatorrik/Glint/Crystal Desert through talking to the NPCs. They seem to have bits of information we can piece up.
Edit: Oh wow, someone else has been digging up more information then me lol.
Pro Tip: Hover your mouse over a hologram. If there’s no cog icon or the hologram is unselectable, Aetherblades will spawn.
Well that’s what I’ve tested so far.
You’re not alone here OP. I don’t mind leaving these achievements to a later date if the dungeon was permanent, but temporary dungeons means a small time frame to get them and they stay uncompleted forever if you don’t get them in time.
And I get really OCD if there’s uncompleted stuff that I can’t ever finish because the content is missing. Some people don’t realise that we don’t care if it only takes 12/19 achievements to get the event reward. If I end up with 18/19 when the event is over, all hell breaks loose.
The bright glow on the floor presents some problems. At some angles, you won’t be able to see the AoE rings because a bright white glare is in your face. That and playing from Australia (me) with 350 ping sometimes gets you hit by cannon fire before the ball hits the ground and explodes.
Using SMAA is probably your best bet. The AA bits you are using aren’t perfectly designed for this particular game.
Also I don’t know why it is suggesting 4x MSAA with 2x SSAA/SGSSAA. AFAIK, you’re supposed to match the supersampling size with multisampling since supersampling takes the data from MSAA.
Hmm doesn’t happen to me when I tested it.
What settings do you run in game and what settings are set for GW2 in the Nvidia Control Panel?
My poor 680s cry when I force anti aliasing like that =(.
With 4x MSAA, 4x SGSSAA and -1.000 Negative LOD to compensate for blur.
I’d rather use skill points to make exotics such as The Anomaly and sell them. Guarantees at least two full stack of T6 materials and some gold left over. I’d rather not take a gamble with the forge whenever it isn’t necessary.
Mystic clover recipes eat up your skill points…
All I can say is… that graphics card.
It belongs in the multimedia/budget end of the series so it will choke even in less intensive games than Guild Wars 2.
Perhaps you could consider in purchasing a higher tier graphics cards?
Maybe you should consider LGA1150 and the Z87 platform instead of the X79 platform unless you’re running multiple GPUs or doing heavily multi threaded tasks. You might be able to save a couple hundred this way and not impact your gaming experience.
This is what you’re looking for:
http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/sweetfx_shader_suite_download.html
It’s called SweetFX, a modified version of the original SMAA injector.
The reason people don’t talk about it on these forums is because they’re afraid of the Anet banhammer coming down on them even though this particular injector does not violate the terms of service of the game in any way.
There’s absolutely no way of using TXAA in Guild Wars 2 at this time. I don’t know what you were reading.
Possibly people forcing SGSSAA?
Or using the SMAA Injector?
Unfortunately until ArenaNet gets their team together and release optimization patches (and the game needs a lot of them), there’s nothing we can do at the moment.
The game can slaughter the fps on my rig as well.
25 fps for me at large events such as Jormag as well.
Happens to even the highest end of rigs.
And this is with two 680s and a 3930K at 4.5 GHz.
Btw, my 3930K runs at 1.4V to achievement 4.5 =(

I’m betting on the large sea of water underneath every single map in the game.
The culprit for fps hits… for the reflections option anyway.
(edited by OptimusPrimo.9547)
Yes you will need a heatsink/radiator/water loop for your CPU as Sandy Bridge – E processors do not come with them.
Your GPU will be fine as is out of the box, you don’t need anything else.
If you want to clock your 3930k to 4.5GHz +, you’ll probably need a large tower heatsink or a closed water loop such as a Corsair H100.

I still can’t see any difference when I used it… must be my computer. Anyway I’ll probably prefer supersampling over AO due to the large amount of jaggies in the game already.
And yeh, these Senns bring life to my ears =)
I think the clean driver install did the trick.
There shouldn’t be any problems at all.

I don’t think it’s a problem with an ISP when different maps in the game give vastly different pings.

Driver forced ambient occlusion has been broken in this game since it was first implemented. I have never seen in work properly. Probably never will…
Something similar to this was posted during game launch last year… Sad to see that after 9 months, nothing has been done about it.
Hmm there seems to be some weak correlation between instability and GTX 670s.
Your PSU is alright. It shouldn’t give any problems.
What Nvidia driver version are you using? There’s been a lot of rumours regarding the 670 and recent drivers breaking a lot of games…
The error relates to your graphics card/drivers.

I have been thinking of tossing in another GTX 680 into SLI. With supersampling and everything cranked I still get in the 90% usage range on my card. How is your experience with SLI’d 680’s with GW2 Optimus?
The game scales decently with two GPUs in most areas of the game. Exceptions would be Lion’s Arch and WvW zones where my FPS just tanks from the CPU issues.
50 fps with one card and 85 fps with 2 cards, looking across to the asura gates from the LA beach.

It depends on what’s been bottlenecked. If you have everything maxed (including supersampling) and WvW model quality and count on highest, then yes, a second GTX 680 will help because you’re running on 3 monitors. Otherwise, you might need to look into locking your CPU higher.
Also, don’t use fraps! Find a different program for recording.
