Been Away for 4 Years...

As pretty much the others have said, there have been a lot of changes, in the past 4 years. Way to many to list, especially if you were gone for that long.
Just play the game and don’t worry about the differences between back then and now.
Without the play time, you won’t know what you missed, the good and the bad.

As for the insta 80, it is pretty cool to have.
But even if you do use it, you can always create new characters and go through the stories naturally.

New halloween glider

I had a second glider drop for me.
I was given a message, something to the effect, a duplicate drop has been detected, you will be credited 2 keys.
And, two keys were credited to my inventory.

New BL Chest loot tables worth it?

I opened 26 chests on 2 accounts (2 × 26 = 52) and the results were not so bad, for me.
Overall, got 10 of the wardrobe unlocks, 4 mini eggs, 6 weapons/skins, a ghost glider skin, 23 scrapes, 3 tickets.
I sold the ToT bags, so made money there.
I did get 7 revive orbs, which I am happy about.
From the wardrobe unlocks, I got several dyes, but also weapon skins that I have never heard of or seen.(sorry cant remember, but the short bow was red)
Did I do well? I think so.
But then again, I don’t mind gambling with the keys and chests.
I have heard of others that have not been as lucky, so I do understand the frustration.
I am just happy that the boosters have been removed.

How many Precursors have you found?

Oregon.5673

Not sure if found is the right word.
I have never gotten any from the open world.
I have gotten several from the MF;
Main account:
Dusk (made the legendary, to sell to buy dawn, to make sunrise)
FrostFang (made the legendary, to sell)
The Lover (sold the precursor to a guildie)
Storm (made the legendary and kept it)
Rage(still have it, will make the legendary one day)

Alt account:
The Lover (made the legendary, to keep)

Purchased a few of the lower priced precursors (focus, torch)

But found, as in out in the open world, chests or by killing enemies…. nope

Heck, would be happy if we could get the rest of the Tyrian map unlocked.

How would you redesign the BL Chest?

I am one of the few that just like to open the BLC, just for the surprise.
However, lately, the surprise has been not so enjoyable.
In fact, not really surprised anymore by the drops, more in the range of disappointment.
I would not really want to see a change in the system, per say.
But the items that could be removed, in my opinion:
Boosters
Tomes – sitting on almost 1200 of them, I have 27 toons, don’t really foresee needing more.
Bank access
Merchant in the box
trading post express
box of fun
mystery tonics (or make them sellable)
mail carriers
account bound mini’s (or at least develop a system if you got one, you won’t get more)

Almost everything else, that I have gotten as drops, I use or sell.

Ways to reach Heart of Maguuma zones?

You can teleport to a friend.
I did it, before I did the Prologue.
Surprised me at the time.
Granted, I had nothing unlocked, so it was kind of pointless, after the fact.
But the xp was good.

I mean, it’s not like there’s much of a logistic, supply chain or distribution barrier… unless they are mining and cutting each gem individually.

Wait… didn’t you get the lore memo, the gems come from the remaining dwarves that were turned to stone oh so many years ago. Each time they eat a burrito(or burrito like meal), a gem is the result. Why do you think Ogden is still around?
Then the skritt clean and polish the shinny(gem) to make ready for sale and distribution.
This really takes a lot of time….

I did get the Soul River Glider as part of the bundle. I used it for a while thought it was cool, until I noticed the animation. Little dudes running…. when I first got it, thought it was different, thought it looked like waves. But then I looked at really close, I have not been able to use it since, the figures running now distract me. Prefer the classic looking glider, so switched my characters to that one.

How do you name your characters?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Oregon.5673

Main account: First name (A names that start with Jen), Last name – Stones (college nickname and the nick name of my GW guild (Stone Polishers).
Alt account: Names from my GW account: no rhyme or reason to the naming. For many of the characters, I pulled out a dictionary, blindly opened it, blindly touched a word… first name… do the same for the last name… had some pretty interesting combinations…. AND named a few for former Girlfriends…

Will you pre-order the next expansion? [Poll]

Oregon.5673

I preordered the GW2, HoT, so yeah, I would do so for the next expansion.
The game is not perfect, but I have not been disappointed with it.
I got what I paid for, which is not software, not pixels animated on the screen, not all the gimmicky stuff, but fun. I paid for fun and I had a good time playing.
Granted, there were moments when I wanted to yell and scream, but those were few and far between.
So, again, yes, would pre-order again.

Born 8 days before man walked on the moon. I am told I watched it, but was more interested in eating and pooping.
Not much has changed since then!

I lived and breathed GW for many years.
Looked forward to the promise of something better, because it was getting stale.
With the exception of PvP, I had done or tried most everything in the game.
Then GW2 came out.
And it GW2 is better, far better, than GW ever was, in my opinion.
GW was the first generation, GW2 is the next gen.
I tried going back, to play a couple of the 27 toons that I have there.
But I found that GW is just so clunky to me, I can’t get back into it.
I do miss the skill/build diversity.
Is GW2 perfect for me, well on the whole, yes.
Does it have its issues? Oh, yeah… most definitely.
Will I be leaving GW2 and going back to GW, where there is no future, hell no.
I enjoy GW2 for what it is and I won’t be going anywhere.

What is your playtime?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

4670hrs/1257 days.
It would have been a lot more, but the November after release, I was on the road for work for 9 months. Only logged on 3 times in 9 months, sigh.

i usually hate playing alts

Oregon.5673

I love alts… each is uniquely different. 29 toons over two accounts, can’t get enough.
I don’t have a main, it is just not mentally feasible for me.
I play the toon I want to or feel like, advance them as needed, then move on to the next.
Built a complete set of Asura for PvP, and that’s all they do.
I have one that, now after world complete, is only for Fractals.
But one of the best things that has ever happened, the utility account bag slot.
This one feature has blown the convenience factor through the roof.
And then, to top it all off, the HoT progression is account wide, glory be halielula!!!
And no, I am not being sarcastic.

What do you do in Gw2

Oregon.5673

Well, I guess it depends on the day that I have had.
Honestly, some days, just want to log in and out.
Other days, I loose myself in the game.
I have 2 accounts, the first I have been playing since pre-release.
the second, I began a few weeks before HoT.

On my first account, I have 27 characters and I play them all, with the exception of my two charr. I work toward achievements, mostly in PvE. Now, I am working on the specializations for all the characters, which is a time consuming chore. But it is what I enjoy doing. And little by little, I do map completion by doing this. I run with my guilds, do guild things and help out where I can. I enjoy the comradery of the guild.
With exception of one, all characters are level 80.
I have just started to get back into Fractals, mostly run with guildies.

That said, my second account is for when I have no desire to deal with anyone. Well, that and I fell asleep one night playing and woke up to find myself getting ready to delete myself from my own guild, needed some insurance. I have one character of each profession. I level each one up by 10, then move to the next character. My highest character is 62 at this point. I am reliving the original story, step by step. I am finding that I am enjoying this. I am not so much looking for achievements on this account, but I want to enjoy the experience, like I had not played before. I am finding that this is quite refreshing.

I don’t PvP much nor do I WvW much. maybe a couple of times a month, at most.

Do I get bored, not really. Do I get restless, at times.
I then take a break and head for world of tanks.

Personal Opinion of HoT

Am I the only one that actually enjoyed the expansion? I understand that some people may not share the same opinion but attempting to kitten it on forum isn’t going to help anyone, just directly contact Anet if you feel your opinion can help?

No, you are not the only one. I also enjoy the expansion. A lot, in fact. Am I happy with all of it, no. But on the whole, I don’t believe it is a fail. It is challenging, tough, a PITA at times and more difficult than the core game. It is what I was looking for and more.

Named a human female Mesmer: Folder of Napkins
I resurrected the name from GW.
I have had about 25ish people stop and say hi, like your name.
Never have had that happen before.
