Guild Wars 2

For anyone else that is experiencing this issue, I got a response on the support ticket. Unfortunately I can’t test this solution at the moment, because after trying like a hundred times, I was able to download the patch without crashing. I will try this myself, the next time I run into this issue again, probably again on next patch.

The possible solution that was provided for me:

The symptoms you’re reporting are often caused by a connection problem somewhere between your computer and the server you’re trying to download from. I’d like you to try forcing your game launcher to connect to a different server by doing the following:

Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 folder. By default, this will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2.
Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
Right-click the shortcut and select “Properties.”
In the “Target” line, put whatever is currently there inside quotation marks, then add -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80 at the end.
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80”
Click “Ok” to save your changes. If you get an error, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try Step 4 again.
Make sure Guild Wars 2 is not running.
Use the new shortcut to launch Guild Wars 2.

If that doesn’t work, try replacing the IP address above with one of the following:

194.25.94.170:80
62.154.232.187:80
151.249.90.199:80
93.188.135.37:80

Let me know if you need any help following these steps, or if this doesn’t fix things for you.

I know, but I am unfortunately also not seeing a crash report window, just the windows message saying the Game Client has stopped working. Else I could have seen which dll is creating the problem and deinstalled that program..

Thanks, I will contact the Tech CS Team. Also, the crash report that I have, is old and doesn’t get new data added.. So I can’t find an error anywhere..

I found how to enable logging, by adding -log to a GW2 shortcut. Unfortunately, the logfile that is created (GW2.log) is empty..

Already tried on last big patch to repair client, didn’t help. Again,l tried repair now, but doesn’t help..

Would be much appreciated if someone could help me out, because just trying to update over and over until it works, is no fun at all and takes up way too much time! :’(

I have no lavasoft products installed, but I am experiencing the same issue as above: system crashes trying to update GW2. Sometimes after many. many tries it succeeds. Unfortunately also no GW2 error is shown, no new crash report is generated. How can I figure out what is causing these issues? Is there any way to enable logging of some sort?

Is there any way to force GW2 to make a crash report or some logging or something? Because there is no crash report now, but this is making the game unplayable!

I don’t have either of those two installed. But after trying many times, it succeeded. I just had the same issue with a small patch, but luckily this one succeeded on the third try. Unfortunately I can’t find a crash report or error message when it crashes

When trying to download the latets patch (Halloween one) the launcher keeps crashing, always at different points. Tried running it again about 10 times, keeps crashing

When I try to use my Home Portal Stone, either in pvp area or LA, I get the following error:

InstanceCreate failed. Error=1036; Product=9, Module=18; Line=624

Please fix this as soon as possible!

Shouldn’t Anet be the one to figure out what is causing people to still crash on DS cut scene? That’s the bug I was talking about, that they still haven’t fixed

It is in every zone, with exactly the same settings as I had before

So basically I was there (Dragon’s Stand) from the beginning, did all the events, got 200% participation. We killed the last boss, cut to the little movie while map gets changed – Then I DC!
And now I can’t get back into the map I was in, saying “Network Error” and now I didn’t get my final reward!!!
Haven’t you guys fixed this by now?

Since last patch (The one that hit today I think, or late last night) I am having issues with my pc when trying to run GW2. Never had problems before, could run 2 different games at once and mozzila with a few tabs open etc etc.. Now with only mozilla and GW2 client, it seems the client always tries to occupy all my cpu and it is slowing everything down A LOT!

I have a 4 core cpu (Intel i5-4690K @ 3.50GHz) and never had issues before, so I am guessing it has to do with the client and not my pc. Already tried rebooting, didn’t help

Nevermore IV collection.. Battle in the Vault is just not spawning..
This is really frustrating, not being able to finish a legendary that I have spent thousands of gold on!!
How am I ever going to get the “Power over Barradin”?!

I was just in a Dragon’s Stand map, we were on the last boss fight. Mordremoth was down to about 40% and then out of nowhere, without a timer running out or anything, we all got ported to a different map, on exactly the same spot that we were in. No way of getting back to our map, it seemed to have crashed..

This is even more annoying than random dc’s, because then at least you had a small chance of getting back in your map!

Well, this is a disappointment.. Event is only here for a few days.. During a weekend I’m not home.. I get home, want to rush the events, at least get a few done.. I reach 10 stacks, disconnect, rush to get 10 stacks again.. Event done, NO REWARD! But I still have the 10 stacks, yaay.. Arenanet, will I still be getting my rewards??

Same here.. About 2 hours ago, disconnect in the middle of an arena game and since then a sorts of problems: Either I am stuck on logging in, or it takes a long time to get character selection and then stuck on loading screen..

Would be nice if Arenanet could at least respond to these posts, so people don’t feel like no one is working on this issue..?

Good to know I am not the only one.. Wish they’d fix it already, getting kind of annoying that I’m not able to play GW2.. :’(

Sad though that I can’t play AT ALL at the moment!! You guys are “lucky” just getting one character stuck between zones.. Mine is stuck between loading pvp arena and every character I log into, gets thrown into arena within 1 minute and then automatically, guess what: A DISCONNECT!
