Ever since I saw Giganticus Lupicus shortly after launch, I have wanted one thing in this game; a mini Lupi following me 24/7. I get sad every update that rolls around with new minis in the gem-store and he isn’t among them. It would be awesome if it was the size of mini Mr. Sparkles, or better yet, bigger. Would buy gems for it. :P

I was fighting a Modrem Wolf and realizes that I’ve seen the icon before. It looks a lot like one of the “things” from John Carpenter’s “The Thing”.
Sorry that the screenshot from “The Thing” is at a weird angle, there wasn’t that many shots of it, so I did my best.

Pretty much, stun wars are a complete counter to Necromancers. Necros have poor stability and rely on condition to CC enemies, which wars negate with Berserker’s Stance and then Balanced Stance

For those of you who don’t remember or were not playing back near launch, Anet created an item in Halloween 2012called Mad King Chests. You throw in 2 different types of boosters, a Piece of Candy Corn, and 6 Mystery tonics.

The chest gave you either: a little bit of Halloween crafting materials, Fragment-Lodestones of some material, Recipes for Halloween weapons, Halloween Tonics, or a Halloween Shoulder/Weapon skin.

After playing for a while, I have acquired a stockpile of boosters. I use Karma, Magic Find, WvW, Strength, Rejuvenation, and Armor boosters on occasion. But boosters such as Killstreak, Crafting, Gathering, Swim Speed, and Experience Boosters pile up in my bank tabs. I’m at 41 crafting boosters right now. I have all the 80’s I need, and crafting professions at 400+, so I don’t have any use for them.

I’d love to have some use for them, even if it’s just a chance at getting holiday loot, or any small items. Or even having recipes to convert one type of booster into another that would be more useful.

I’m thinking that this is correct, but, do you guys know if the wardrobe will include the starting armor of some professions? Like the Necro/Mesmer head pieces, Guard helmet/shoulders, Thief hoods, and Engi back. And will they be able to be use don the same armor types?
Just want to make sure we get these before we can’t do the make new character and transmute to another tactic.

You guys do realize it will take 5 AND A HALF YEARS to reach that amount right?

and it will take 10 AND A HALF YEARS to max out the monthly one…

Complaining about this is literally the most absurd thing I have ever heard…

As of right now, there are 20 daily AP you can get. 12 from PvE dailies, and 8 from PvP dailies. If you do each one, that’s 500 days. Which will take 1.369 years to max out. Most of the people I’ve seen that are against this change have said that they are sitting at about 5,000 AP from dailies. So, they only have 250 days; less then a year, before they cap out.

Since Anet has stated that they have no plans for an expansion, Living Story and Dailies are the reason why some people log in. Other then that, it’s either a grind for gold, a grind for PvP ranks, or a grind for WvW ranks. (Of coarse, people do enjoy those things, so “grind” may not be the nicest term for it.)

Personally, doing all the AP gets me out and playing in the world. When there is a Shiverpeak Killer/Vet Slayer/Event Completer etc, I’ll hop on and alt and map comp in an area until I get that daily. If its Mystic Forge, I’ll throw some rares in and see if I luck out and get a precursor. The PvP ones get me into PvP, and the WvW ones get me into WvW. I’ve never felt that doing all the AP everyday was a forced grind; I did it because I wanted to, and if I didnt want to, I didnt do it. Simple as that. I usually complete the LS/Monthly AP the 1st-5th day they come out. The rest of the month is just open, and at this point, no new dungeons or maps are out, and the game is becoming stagnant because the LS has been mostly temporary content.

For people that achievement hunt, there is a point where you hit a wall. You capped Entropy and Hobby Dungeon, you’ve done all the JPs, the Explorer, and all that. I’ve even done most of the weapon master ones by having alts do map completion with weapons I need. At that point, all the AP we can get is from dailies, monthlies and LS. Since monthlies and LS come slowly, the main way to keep getting AP is by dailies.

Capping the daily AP doesnt help anyone. It slows down the progression towards Achievement Chests. If you’re worried about people being unable to catch up on the Leaderboards, then take down the Leaderboards. Some one that’s been playing since launch will always have more then someone new. There is no rewards for being top on the Leaderboards, so who cares if you can’t pass someone because they do more dailies then you? It’s just like saying “I’m better because I have more Legendaries”. It just means that more Skritt will worship you because you have “shinies”. There’s not stat bonus’ or in-game imbalance.

I feel like capping Dailies is just another thing that will eventually cause people to become more inactive or leave the game, which is never good for a MMO. Who likes dead games?

As an AP hunter, this is a horrible change. I wont be able to play the content that I want. Strange, never once did I think that the AP panel demanded anything t all.

I agree completely. Also as an AP hunter, this change will drastically decrease the amount of time I spend in this game. Especially long-term.

Achievement Points is one of the few things that keep me logging in everyday. I can already see that when I reach the daily cap I’ll mostly just log in to do my monthly, and the living story, then be done for the rest of the month. I really don’t see why Anet is making this move and I think it’s a pretty horrible decision.

Anet " We don’t buff siphon because we don’t want too much sustain"
Gives Thieves 1 trait that will heal them more then all Necro siphon traits combined.
Gives Necros regen in DS, and 5% healing from condis
I’m excited for the new traits, but there’s nothing for power Necros, and siphoning really needs to be looked at.
Also, I feel like a condi Necro can be a god in sPvP with the new traits

Thief: Invigorating Precision

Thief will be gaining a new survivability trait in their Critical Strikes line with Invigorating Precision. Five percent of damage from your critical attacks will now be returned to you as healing. With this trait, you’ll be able to sustain yourself in scenarios where your base healing just isn’t enough.

I really, REALLY, hope that Anet buffs our siphon to be viable

It might work well with the Dhuumfire nerf. If you still take Dhuumfire after they nerf it that is.
Also, it will depend on what they change the death Magic 5 and 15 traits too. They mentioned reworking the trait line

I have been able to shine in dungeons as a zerker necro. I honestly prefer a berserker necro over a thief. Reasons: I have a full zerker necro and a thief, I still feel like my overall DPS is higher on my necro. The auto attacks from necro dagger hit hard, and combined with the extra DPS that wells bring makes it soar. Whenever I run cof path 1 I volenteer to kill the gate mechanism, pop down wells, flesh golem charge, and it does down fast. I’ve had people comment on how fast is has gone down. Most of the time that I see a thief attempt to break down the gate, they are able to do it, but also go down in the process.
Another reason is that (at least one Thief playstyle) does not sit in combat the whole duration. They hop in and out of stealth in order to get the big backstab damage. As a Necro, I sit on top of the boss and never let down DPS until the boss is dead (possibly having to roll out of range and switch to staff/axe and wait for heal cooldown or hop in DS). Even though I would love a siphon buff, I am able to keep myself up fairly well.
Thieves bring a little more utility with stealth but I think that necromancers do more long-term, sustained DPS.
Not even going to talk about comparing Necro’s with Warriors until we get a cleave weapon that isn’t staff.

I came onto this forum just to make a post addressing this same issue.
Each and every time my guild tries to do a puzzle, someone ends up getting left behind.
The lock-out mechanics are completely unnecessary.

Everyone in the guild is going to want credit (free loot!) so making it just for 6 people is nice to the smaller guilds, since the rest of the missions pretty much out-right killed small guilds. So 40 or so people will want to funnel into this small area. This creates lots of bodies to help, but also lots of confusion. And the worst part is when people get locked out, and unable to get credit.

I think that if you are going to put a lock-out mechanic into these, just lock people out at the start, so once you’re in, you’re in.

And on another note: I also get frustrated when you get kicked out at the end once the timer runs out. The Puzzles contain some of the coolest, most beautiful created parts of this game (why I will go and repeat mini-dungeons and jump puzzles). I love to take screenshots of all of this and get to appreciate the hard work that was put into making such a cool looking environment. However, once you’re in, you are focused on completing the puzzle. You can’t go back, and you can’t stay in the puzzle after it is finished. I would really like to be able to just explore around the Puzzle locations.

I never go with Greater Marks for pve. But for sPvP and WvW, Greater Marks is a must. Plus, having the toughness from Death Magic is always nice. The unblockable never really helps for pve, but has greater importance in pvp

I completed all of the Dragon Bash living story achievements and got the Marjory’s Journal at the end, however, when I try to use it, I just get a yellow text saying “You cannot use that command yet”. Did I miss talking to someone in the instance or do you need to use it at a specific location? Or is it just broken for me?

Most Necromancers I see in tPvP roll with a Minion Master build. Plus, if these changes do go through, more people might want to roll a MM, making your “no one runs it” pointless.

I would love to get Critical damage with Precision like other professions have, but that would also throw off lots of the condition builds that use Precision. I think how Necro traits are set up is the reason we are able to be able to have so many different build types

Yeah. I love Necro. I have an alt of each other profession and they just are’nt as fun as Necro. I do everything on my Necro. Almost 2 Legendaries, Champion Phantom, almost 2k hours played on my Necro.
I do hope they buff Siphoning, and give us some access to vigor, but I don’t want them to kitten up and re-organized the traitlines

I like all the talk about getting new changes and changing traits around, however, I would like a little bit more communication from Anet about the specifics. I would hate to log into the game after the patch and find that the build I have worked on and customized to perfectly fit my play style is no longer usable. The traits and trait lines I use at the moment are perfect where they are, and if they, for example, put “Wells use Ground Targeting” in the Blood magic tree, it would throw off my current build and I would have to go back to theory crafting.
I currently have made 5 PvE/WvW builds as well as 4 sPvP/tPvP builds and, as much as I’d love Necro buffs, I would not like to have to completely re-work everything.

I normally play a Necromancer and never use my minions outside of Spvp (Flesh Golem and at times Flesh Wurm excluded). I find in most dungeons, especially with bosses like Kholer and Subject Alpha, where it’s dodge or die, pets just die off, making minion builds useless.
My suggestion is, when the player dodge rolls, the pets also gain evasion. This would help the pets survive one-shot bosses. This would help, minion Necros, Ranger pets, Elementalist summoned minions, Guardian weapons. I do not think this should count for Mesmer clones, given their disposable nature and replacability.
I don’t think this would get over powered in WvW or sPvP because a player needs to use dodges at the right times to survive and if they waste a dodge trying to save their pets, then they themselves die faster.
Open to suggestions, constructive nay-saying, ect.

I love the flexibility that necros have.
I feel so trapped in other professions because it’s one build or don’t bother.
I have 2 armor sets for my necro and still want more for other build types

Yeah, there’s just been so much hate on Necros on the forums lately. Most of which I agree with though. I would like some access to vigor and betters CDs and all that. But when you spend 10min on the Necro forums you get the impression that the class is so bad you should kick any Necros you see.
But I love the class and barely play any of my other alts since they don’t compare.

I was playing in a fractal 48. I only have 40AR since I put the gilded infusion in my amulet. When Maw shot us with his agony, I popped down Well of Blood, and hit Deathshroud. I was able to tank the rest of the agony without going into downstate after that.
So, one thing Necros can do is survive Maw agony at high levels while the rest of the team dies

If you are looking for AoE fun, Axe 3 (retaliation) warhorn 5, drop well of suffering, DS 4… if anything is left standing it was probably a champ. Swap to dagger and single target gank since it will be the only thing left standing.

I wouldn’t mind more multi-target besides staff, but I think axe would be most like candidate as far as being in sink with other classes axes. Dagger has always been single target across the classes.

My typical “combo” is Warhorn 5, Well of Suffering and Corruption, then Life Transfer.

I guess what I should be saying is. I would like a melee cleaving weapon, but since it doesnt look like any professions will get new weapons until waaaay down the road (if ever), I am just trying to find a way for Necromancers to get on the “LFG only Zerker Warrior ping gear” level, without making them over-the-top broken.

So, since it seems people didn’t catch this detail the first time I said it: only Necrotic Slash. Just the first move in the auto-attack chain. This would avoid pumping up life-force that you get from Necrotic Stab and Bite (2nd and 3rd in chain).

I really don’t think this would be too broken. With Wars being able to Cleave with Hundred Blades and every auto-attack. Their DPS still comes close to necro single target, and if you add in extra targets, the total damage is far greater.

Dagger single target damage is insane, it isn’t the place for us to get cleave.

Insane is an overstatement, but you can’t have cleave on dagger becasue the extra procs on lifesteals would put it over the top, particularly if they ever fix siphoning the way the should by making it scale with a stat (probably healing).

Make only dagger #1 cleave.

If it’s insane, every warrior is insane.

^ This. I was saying, not only just dagger1, but the first part of it. Necrotic Slash only. Not Stab or Bite, which are the two that give lifeforce.

I just want to put this out there and see people’s opinion on it. Necro dagger main-hand has absolutely no AOE. Necros do have a decent amount of AOE output (Staff, Wells, Epidemic, etc.) I was thinking about what if Necrotic Slash had a splash damage. Not all of the daggers auto-attack combo, just the first part. I don’t feel that the damage output compared to say, GS warriors is so much greater to merit having only single target DPS. Plus, no giant AOE Hundred Blades type burst skill.
So, back to the original question: do you guys think that adding 3 target splash damage to Necrotic Slash would makes Dagger too powerful?
