Currently, it’s more of a display of how much skill – I mean boon and CC spam – your team was able to muster more than a personal show of skill. It also is more of a display who spams through the meta setups better.

If you’re just looking to solo camps and needing a power weapon:
Sword/pistol.
Just spam that pistol whip like no tomorrow and you should pull enough damage while evading to easily kill all those idiot NPCs

Should be noted it doesn’t really kill players that move out of it. . .

I love passives. Stuff on HoT maps comes outa nowhere sometimes (sudden kraka roll).

I actually do sit back at certain bosses because unless there’s a mass of people, it’s death when close regardless of class

Gunflame berserkers have a really hard time if they can’t sit back and snipe. That said, they really do eat through blocks.

tl;dr at bottom.

If you trait for shout healing and use Healing Surg – I mean “To The Limit” seeing your hp just leap up for 10-12k healing (or higher, those are my PvP/PvE numbers) on a 24 second cooldown is amazing! It’s about 440 healing per second, even higher than healing signet with the same build. Additionally, if you have high adrenaline gain rate, the extra adrenal health healing is nice.

All this said, this roughly means you take a damage hit to gain at max a (rounded up to impossible number) 15k heal every 24 sec and a 500 heal every 3 at max.

So at the impossible max:
That is 15500 healing in one second, 5166+2/3 every 3 sec, or 666 + 2/3 a minute.

In realistic numbers of what I have it’s:
10,400 a second, 3400 every 3 seconds, and 466 a minute.

Assuming you don’t sit on adrenaline, because like all our trait lines tend to detest us doing that now:
10,000 a second, 3,333 + 1/3 every 3 seconds, and 333 a minute

So for PvE with boss fights lasting a couple minutes, that’s absolutely fantastic
That means we get that whole 333 a minute.

Now lets assume the average PvP fight lasts 20 seconds
That means we get 500 a second, but it’s one big burst, which sounds great.

All that said, the main problem is that’s not good enough. We don’t have the real, tangible tools to do anything. We also lose damage doing this. What do I mean?
Well sustain isn’t just healing, or clearly the meta would be warriors only. It’s actually how well you can evade, negate, and heal yourself from damage.

This means that a dragonhunter who does high burning uptime and stacks with lots of aegis will always do better. Why? Because he can block all he wants and keep a passive damage source going. What about power builds? A power build like, say elementalist, who can go immune to damage or greatly negate it (stacking protection, vigor, and regen) can continue to pew pew while ignoring most incoming damage.

So my thoughts? Quit playing with damage and healing now and give us some actual tools so we can get away from stances. Power and condi warrior have the same sustain problem because of it. We need tools!

TL;DR:
Warrior healing is ok, even better when traited. We lose some damage while traiting, but we get healing even better when we do. We’re still stuck however, because outside of long, grueling PvE fights, we lack the tools to actually negate damage and thus need stances. Warriors need better tools to deal with damage other than a simple combination of damage shields (one of which can now be stripped).

Just bunch of minor changes, no war return.

Being a warrior since the beginning near exclusively (2357 hours of 2542 across 1234(lol) days) here’s how I read this after seeing similar such thing since forever.

Real version:
“We’ve taken a look at the warrior’s baseline abilities, adjusting cooldowns, damage, and in some cases even functionality. Our goal for this iteration is to give you a bit more to play with in a single weapon set so that the cooldowns feel more active and fun to play around with. Rifle has also seen a bit of a rework, gaining a more defensive nature while retaining its overall purpose of kill-shotting every enemy of Tyria. We’ll also be taking another pass at improving the berserker elite specialization, focusing on increasing its usability in various game modes and promoting more active skill use in trait design. Lastly, we’ll improve the warrior’s ability to sustain themselves in combat.

Justa former purple ’vari warrior here to tell you yes. It happens with axe 5 and hundred blades. No idea what causes it, but it always has bugged out occasionally with quickness.

Quick edit: I can’t find it anymore, but I pointed this out to Defektive back in the day with axe 5. He basically said, “oh. Don’t use quickness then. I don’t want to take 50% more damage anyways.”

Long time warrior of 2k+ hours here since day -2, thought I might toss out my thoughts and maybe summon Burr if he’s still around.

Try and work these in if you can (sorry, haven’t reviewed what you want XD):

What we don’t need:
More damage
More damage
MORE DAMAGE!

What we do need:
A weapon or utility ability to heal us for at least 2k (further augmentation possible).

A trait that directly addresses blind

Utilities addressing dodge/invuln that aren’t just passive click and forget (like evades and such).

A trait with specificity boon stripping (removes regen and protection and vigor)

Baseline Fast Hands. I know, I know, but originally only warriors had weapon swap, which is why we get weapons that are like all utility or all damage (mace or greatsword). We need this.

Reworked trait passive healing.

Utility and trait utility. What I mean: Restorative Strength before removed like chill, weakness, crippled, and one other I forget. Now it just gives might. Before Always Angry gave us a solid 10 adrenaline to keep slower weapons (mace and hammer) users going. Now it gives more damage. Outa here! Also just because it hurts someone or gives us a boon doesn’t mean it’s useless. Like physical abilities restoring endurance.

Is the torch worth using?

Torch is a GOOD new weapon that NOBODY knows how to really work. Seriously. Almost all people run greatsword (Because all warriors seem to be expected to devote a whole weapon slot to greatsword and never remove it because Anet ignores our poor dual wielding) + whatever (usually longbow, axe/shield, or mace/shield) so not a super ton of testing has been used on it.

So far, pro(s):
-Only offhand with a cripple.
-Only offhand that burns.
-Only weapon warrior has with a condition clean ability (x2).
-Only nonburst combo field (fire).

Con(s):
-Rather long cooldowns (15 (12) sec, and 25 (20) sec).
-The burn duration is lackluster and completely forgettable at times.
-Lacks damage.
-Lacks high condition application(s).

This means it’s mostly utility type weapon. This also means it has to fight for space vs a ranged weapon, or newly buffed shield, or dps mace.
It’s clear it’s to cripple and then get a combo field burst (actual burst or combo) on enemies. However the good finishers require a weapon swap to get to or are easily dodged (Hammer and axe respectively). The only weapon it goes well with without working for is sword.

So right now, it’s good, but no one has found a build that we actively use that it takes precedence over another weapon.

@josh: what about mending/physc skills?

After:
Cooldown 20 sec, healing 5465 (again my value), with 2 conditions removed.

They’ll buff it back up, same as last time, in a year’s time.

As a warrior only player (I gotta stabby-stabby too, but I suck at playing her :/ ), there’s one really, really easy way to beat Rampage without stability: Conditions. Just load up the rampaging warrior with torment, weakness, and immobilize. Even weakness and immobilize work.

Seriously, rampage is not a bigger problem than it was, it just got slightly nicer is all.

Here’re some I’ve used that still can work. All of them have a PvP flair on them, but I’ve made sure work elsewhere. The best part? Runes + sigils are whatever unless I specify. Pick the ones you want. All of these need a way to build and let out adrenaline rather rapidly and/or consistantly, so keep that in mind.

Moved some stuff around. Little bit less condi cleanse for a little bit more hittin’ power. Not the most damaging thing in the world. Use those leaps in fire field.

Run in there, slam yourself up to max adrenaline, eviscerate and then auto-attack. Kick whenever it’s up. Mace 5 whenever it’s up. If you get a CC through they’re weakened. That’s group utility right there. Smash faces in with rampage.

Defense line cannot be replaced.
Can switch cleansing ire for Last stand. Rousing resilience is bugged atm.
Distracting strikes puts out a ton of damage, but only if you can interrupt. Switch to ‘zerker strength if you can’t.
Signet of might can swap with bull’s charge as needed.
Requires some sort of ice applying sigil (or stuff runs away a lot).

CC foes into a corner and then stack an easy 25 vuln on them. Rampage to smash faces in. Stun and interrupt as much as you can. Interrupt > non-interrupt.

Have you tried actually using healing signet for the resistance at all?
Yes I have. Defiant stance is better with all the burst that’s going on.

Have you found any builds that are extremely distinct in playstyle from builds before the patch?
Haven’t found one that doesn’t die really fast. I mostly avoid pvp now.

Have you been able to have any success with shoutbow since the patch? It’s seemed like it has been having trouble with all the burst specs going around.
I don’t like shoutbow. It was and is really brainless but is only used because it gives the most sustain we can get.

I really hate that rousing resilience, cleansing ire, and last stand are all together. It really kills builds. Last stand is pretty awesome, be nicer witha 60 sec cooldown instead of 90. Cleansing Ire is needed so much now but still killing builds because it’s not on use. Rousing resilience would be awesome, if the healing part WASN’T BUGGED!

What I’ve found so far (kinda summarizes too):

-Sword cooldown reduction doesn’t seem to work on sword #4.
-Greatsword whirl (#3) is still affected by swiftness which causes it to go only ~3/4th the full distance
-Greatsword 100b (#2) stops if the target suddenly stealths
-Rousing Resilience trait never heals. It also automatically goes off if using balanced stance at any time, no healing still.
-Dual Wielding trait doesn’t seem to increase anything but sword.
-If longbow’s combustion shot hits a reflect, a player entering stealth, you gain swiftness, or a chat bubble (ok, kidding here) it does not go off.
-The mace #2 no longer shows you how long it lasts for in either or tooltip or cast bar.

Hey, just here to say that Shrug it Off does stun break right now, and happens about as much as it does a good condition clear. A lot of CC has inadvertent conditions applications that hit along with it (usually vuln or bleed). So yeah, kinda already does that.

Hey, so first a link and a disclaimer, so you guys know where first poster got this info. The link and disclaimer: Some things mentioned, like AI action when confronted with strong PBAoE, are subject to non-implementation. The guy says so himself. Could happen, could not. We pretty much have confirmed that THE highest rated behavior (action) of a ranged NPC in the expansion will be to go and always attempt to sit at max range or keep you there.

As for 100 blades, it was high risk, high reward. WAS. In fact it was already nerfed waaaaaay back in a feature patch. Now, most of us know that, 100 blades is still the skill that can hit up to an insane 10k hit. However, that damage nerf ensure it happens A) less and B )not unless the final strike of it hits. Anyone who PvPed in the days of yore as a warrior will know to let it go through you HAD to use frenzy followed by any stun or knockdown (usually Bullrush). Why? Without that 100% extra speed and some sort of good solid CC, they’d just cleanse and sidestep. It very much was high risk, high reward skill.

Now? Not so much. Now it’s used as cleave in zergs in WvW, or cleave in PvP in a team setting. One on one, unlike before, it is fairly easy to dodge or stop entirely. How easily? One 12 second cooldown I use, with no movement attached to it, completely negates it. So to set it up now, unlike before you need: A) stability, B )A stun or knockdown, and C)frenzy OR forgo all of that and use it in a group setting where allies are providing all those for you. Solo, this means that it’s an extreme risk, moderately high reward, considering protection’s prevalence and the damage nerf; In a group, it’s low risk, moderately high reward.

So, honestly, change it so we can move. Ranged AI are highly likely to be attempting in HoT to move out of the way, thus we’re going to need everything we use in solo PvP to pull it off, or hope our group will cover us for every single mob, which would not be practical if fighting elites or large veteran groups.

Things of note before comparing:
He is weapon switching midmatch. This is diabled now.
Most people aren’t dodging, using their protection abilities, or using meta build. These are the days of Hotjoin Heroes.
Axe hit harder back then.
Greatsword hit harder back then.
Bullrush -> frenzy -> 100 blades worked well still. Swiftness was still 100%.
These are the fabled 8v8 matches.
This is back in the days of power builds.
No cleansing Ire. (edit: This is before Daecollo started suggesting cleansing ire. It was the one suggestion of his that wasn’t B.S. and pretty much made it into game.)
Look at all that retreating he has to do.
He appears to be 6/6/2/0/0 in today’s terms.

As of today, this guy would be killed instantly. PvPers have gotten better and this dude’s only real trick is weapon swapping in match to get more utility. If he didn’t run, he’d be a very easy kill as evident that he barely wins some actual chases.

Hi hi! Not terrible at all! I’m not much of a drawer myself, but since no one else has thrown their hat in in 3 days, I think a little feedback’d be nice!

So I’ll try to keep it simple; here’s what needs to be practiced and fixed up first:
That left arm. I doubt she’s an amputee, so we need to elongate it and stick a hand at the end of it. Right now it’s far too short and I can’t tell if that’s a hand or an elbow.
Remember: elbow at diaphragm (bottom of lungs) and hand 1/3ish on thigh muscle. When in doubt, stand up and see for yourself.

Hand. Hands are hard. It’s ok. Right now thumb is tiny and hidden, but is ok because it’s a fist. HOWEVER, the index finger and ring need to be same size. Middle finger is largest finger. Right now index finger is massive.

Feet. Nothing big here, they’re fine since in shoes (boots?), BUT feet always point left and right at an angle. It’s small, but a realism thing. Don’t put them straight forward or facing in. People don’t stand like that. Floating however, all bets are off, feet do whatever they want then.

It’s also a good idea while starting to draw skeleton -> body without clothes (or underwear only) -> clothes. Yes it’s a lot of erasing and drawing lightly, but the reason’s simple though: you don’t want clothes hiding a poorly constructed body part. Best satirical example I could find. Draw that lightly at first so you can go over it. As you get better, won’t be needed.

I know that’s a lot, but hopefully you can work on it one piece at a time so it’s not overwhelming. Finally, stay away from anime how to draws if you’re starting out. Generally, those assume you know how to draw, just not how to draw the character.

Warriors atm have a lot of damage and tankiness by near default, but don’t have the spectacular utility and burst that others have.

Use the sword as part of the burst and to burn them off of blocks. Deflect missiles can be swapped for dogged march. Runes are odd, but they’re meant to promote you blocking often. Rampage is just awesome. Period. Sharpened axes builds crazy fast adrenaline. Dodge often, because that’s your defense. Shield is slower due to lessened burst, but can be used here.

To burst (Hard to pull off):
sword 4 (one click), kick, eviscerate, sword 4 (second click).
In damage that’s:
~500, ~1200, ~4000-5000, ~2000 = ~5700-6700.

Those two things in mind, along with what the class should be doing, I’d rank as follows. Short explanation under. (You might just wanna skip to those).

Ele: A-
War: C
Eng: B
Thief: B+
Mesmer : A-
Necro: B-
Guard: S
Ranger: C

Ele: Good control and nuking, which is what an elementalist should do. Not too squishy, but not too tanky. They definitely have gotten back to being versatile. They can do well in team fights since they bring AE effects to both offense and defense. Still feel slightly… Lacking.

War: Rely on speed, CC, and toughness to survive. The faster they can finish a fight, the better since they get weaker as they fight. Right now, they’re mostly just glorified CC cannons. That’s it really. AoE CC cannons. That’s really most of all that we bring to a fight. Due to poor utilities we also have to have the fight mostly done in about 10 seconds or we’re dead. But hey, we’re really good at making that happen since people like to run zerker.

Eng: Can be helpful in team situations, but only with limited fields and turrets (GLaDOS would be disappointed at the lack of neurotoxin, but ok with the number of turrets). Primarily act as the single target CC cannon that the warrior cannot be. Most control type abilities, like mines and bombs are poorly made and either aren’t used or used solely because they can control one point really, really OK. They could be better in team fights, especially since they have the potential to be a battlefield medic (medkits + medkit on turret drop).

Thief: Stabby stabby, vanish, stabby stabby, vanish. Dead person. They do what they are made for really well. Sadly, when they pass around their prime team utility, most other look at it and say, “what is this? two rather useless venom applications? It better be the stun venom!” Could really do with more team type…well, STUFF!

Mesmer: Control a person to death, but control team utilities for themselves. Good at managing to control a person to death without being overly CC dependent (Engie + warrior, we’re looking at you two) but seem to have to use all their team fight utility on themselves to make it happen. But when they do use a utility for the team, everybody likes 50% faster attacks.

Necro: Come in some variety, the solo only minion, the DoT everything and laugh because I’m waaay too tanky to die, and the power necro. The first and last are fine. It’d be nice if the first could deal with more people, but it’s more solo only. Power necro does good to “awesome hahahaha!” damage and can have a team utility to help debuff or buff with. The problem is the normal DoT one. It’s too many damage DoTs, applied too quickly, with far too much survivability in most cases. Did I mention most of it is AoE all the time? No? It is! That’s not to say it wipes groups out, but it can very quickly kill anyone but a good guardian. Needs less damage, and more attrition.

Guard: Despite paltry changes they do what they do really well. They’re also the only nonOP class, which causes quite a lot of “We want that too =(”. They can group cleanse, throw down some awesome fields, and the only real downside is they are very, heavily boon dependent. They have a few problems that still need fixing, that never seem to be, but do what they need to excellently.

Ranger: I’ve actually started to notice rangers attacking me for a change. Before I though I was being sneezed at. To my surprise, they’re actually starting to deal damage too. If we could keep this going and give them some fields to throw down, or buffs thrown out from their pet and more damage, that’d be awesome!

I’m just gonna put this out here buuuut

Berserker’s Stance should be changed to 100% immunity from crippled, chilled, immobilized, and weaken.
Why should going berserk prevent you from being set on fire, feared, or bleeding out? I’d even go as far to say going berserk should make one bleed out faster, but I’m not that evil in the change I’d like to see.

The problem I see with this set up is the dodge/evade and teleport spammers. Sure they can get caught but they can still teleport and evade around while immobilized (because logic). This build might be fun to play but you really can’t do much even with high dps as soon as all the blocks/dodge/evade/teleports start being spammed in. Also, immobilize is all fine and good but those who dodge and spam condi clears this’ll get shut down by.

As for fighting hambow warriors with this build, so long as you know what they’re doing and block it, any fight against them is comical regardless of what you’re running.

I’ve been playing with many warrior builds as of late and this is what I’ve found: You either get team play control or damage, solo damage and mobility, solo damage and control, team damage and mobility, but never all 3 (damage/control/mobility) at the same time. Your build fits the solo damage and mobility. I’ve tried a lot. Most fun I’ve found was mace/sword+longbow for solo control/damage (well that and endure pain followed by defiant stance really, really annoyed heartseeker spammers).

Yep. If it moves at all, greatsword loses somewhere around the 2/3 mark of its damage (100b). Axe on the other hand, doesn’t really care.

“Is there something I’m not seeing about maximizing axe damage?” Did you remember to get Strength 5, and the other axe crit trait in strength? Did you remember to get 33% vuln chance in precision line? If you didn’t get those, that’ll be why.

“And should I try not to get too used to running GS?” That’s up to you. Some players love heavy burst, followed by not a whole lot, followed by heavy burst again. Others like sustained damage. It’s your call.

“Does it lose a lot of its viability in fractals and whatnot?” Can’t really say. I can tell you from pvp after 100b, I have trouble finishing people off.

“When they change critical damage, I know that axe is going to suffer more than GS as well, so that’s out there too.” I would venture to say greatsword will suffer more as it’s much more crit reliant (remember mace/shield +100b in s/tPvP before sigil patch anyone?)

I said it before the change and I’ll say it now; only the animation needed to be changed. What made mace great was it was a very quick, up close and personal stunner. Now F1 is usually much too slow to do what I was using it for.

What made mace great before was it had a quick sudden stun. For a class where you can see everything slowly lining up the shot from a mile away this was great. Now, it’s telegraphed and it’s just like every other weapon we have. Now, it’s just a hard to land stun. Now, it’s back to mediocrity. Now, it’s back to using sword and board.

I’m going with 4. The only thing that prevents 5 is that you HAVE to time it. If you hit it off versus someone’s burst attack you’ll get massive healing. If you miss it you get NOTHING!

Still working on heal per damage or how all that works but so far you can go back from near nothing to full IN THE MIDDLE OF A ZERG. Had to bold that. I’ve also got called a hacker because of it several times. But then again they also thought Rampage was a hammer, so they weren’t the brightest bunch.

Cool, still ain’t ever gonna use it. Why? Retaliation punishes rapid attacks and not necessarily burst.

But… even our biggest damage burst didn’t do that much at all… Why?

If it’s getting nerfed to be slower and more easily seen (not a big time nerf but could well be) it’s not going to retain it’s “Surprise mace to the head!” Stun ability. Therefore, I’d like to see it add (1/2/3) stack(s) of confusion. It’s shouldn’t be called Skull Crack for nothing!

Ironically, the best teams I’ve ever had we’ve said nothing in. Everyone knows their job, everyone does it.

That said, hotjoin is a good place to test (WvW builds, PvE builds, and PvP. It gives a nice controlled test dummies – I mean good control against thinking opponents, and svanir.) It’s also a good place to just chat. Even zerg, which can be very fun especially if you’re from one of the lower population servers on WvW so it’s always you vs zerg anyways.

Want a challenge? Go for tPvP.

And finally, here’s something completely unrelated that could help you relieve some stress

What? Berserker’s might = 2 adrenaline / 3 sec. Rage = 1 adrenaline / 3 sec.
I stopped reading past here. If you really played a warrior this would be a HUGE GLARING fact check failure. As we all know, if you don’t check your facts suddenly you fail at the most basic reasoning (there’s a satire out there of people who don’t know their facts saying they hate Obamacare but are all for the affordable healthcare act. Same thing. I’ll link if I have the time and find it again. Proves this point well.)

Please make sure you check your facts and actually play it some. There’s a lot more passive and your type “problems” in other classes much more so than warriors, i.e. maintaining very powerful boons just from doing a mindless spammed action (mesmer vigor on crit, ranger prot on dodge) or very passive gameplay that’s near mindless (heavy stealth/dodge thief which throw off condis like crazy)

Seriously, I can’t stun you if I can’t touch you. Works well for thieves and rangers and mesmers. For everyone else if they can manage it, they’re fine.

Can you link a dump file?

A restarting computer is often times caused by overheating (which would make sense of some times and not others depending on the stress).
Rule of thumb here, don’t forget to blow out the computer’s insides (laptop is really hard, get help on this one) and make sure you have enough room to get down and hug it without having to move it to do so. Both these steps will make sure your computer has room to breath for your fans and such.
