I noticed them, and thought ‘How cool! So many references back to our adventures in Guild Wars (One).’
Yes, well done, ArenaNet. Two thumbs up on the whole Episode!
I’d like to add my congratulations too, I love this new direction with the Living World, if this keeps up I know I’ll be enjoying (and supporting) this game for years to come!
The little touches mean so much to me, for example, Taimi and my asuran elementalist talking about the Snaff Savant prize (Edit: sorry, that was chapter one but the point still stands, great stuff!) I cannot wait to get back to the story now that you’re telling it in game!
I’m getting that GW1 mission feeling which is a brilliant thing!

I have to agree that this is such a fun piece of new content. LW-S2 EP’s 1&2 have both been great fun, kudos to you guys at ANet. You took the criticism (a lot of it very heavy handed IMO) from LW-S1, acted upon it and seem to have hit the nail on the head with the way things are looking to progress story wise.
It’s not very often I look forward to a Tuesday on a Saturday, but I most certainly was last weekend, and now I can say, rightly so! Great job :-) .

I wanted to stop by and say thanks for the feedback. We do feel that the celestial stat set will be hit the hardest with the upcoming critical damage changes, so we are looking at possibly boosting the overall stats by a small amount.
Also the celestial stat set in PvP is using a much lower stat multipliers than the PvE versions so we will be looking at changing this as well. Nothing is set in stone, but I wanted to let guys know this is something we are discussing.
I work on systems, combat, skills, and balance.

I guess for 800 gems (or whatever the tool costs) you could get more sprockets right now then you will mine the next 5 years with the pick … but as a matter of principal I agree, not cool.
Getting mining nodes as part of a reward through play is one thing, getting extras like that with a bought item is not right.
Why not double the yield of a node then? 20% chance to convert every normal node into a rich node for yourself with the “MineMorePickMe” pick, now from your convenient convenience store.
Nope, that wouldn’t be right either, which is why those tools are only as good as the best regular in-game tool.
This makes them better.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Definitely not a fan of this, keep any infinite tools as pure convenience/cosmetic items, no bonus loot.
Definatly pay to win.
Much as I love the infinite tools this is not ok.
the point is that they are infinite- it is a mere convenience with the added bonus of looking cool- adding sprockets is not ok- much as I love you, you should not have done this.
Call it a bug and remove it- you really don’t want to go there (PtW)
This is where it starts.
I agree. Even though sprockets are kind of useless imho it does set a bad precedent. Back off this kind of thing Anet. Please.
Well you supported the whole “Pay 2 Convinience” thing with the purchase of the unlimited tools and now this is what you get.
There is a rather major difference between paying for convinience and paying for advantages though.
I for one will NOT buy this new set if they don’t fix/remove this thing even though I have bought multiple sets of the earlier ones.

I’m glad to see the concordance on this topic. I have not seen a single defender of this, and that’s a plus. As a person with several unlimited tools, I love these items. But now I certainly feel obligated to buy this in order to stay ahead. I don’t know. It kind of sucks.
This is why I made this thread. If there is enough vocal opinion on this (and I strongly believe there will be), then I sincerely hope Anet takes the route of Flamekissed armor and make changes.

And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
This is where it starts.
Welp, that’s over the line, imo. It’s doesn’t sound like a big deal but it is obvious that they are testing how far they can go with the gemstore stuff.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
+1 to OP, well said.
For those who say it is not a broken item, and there is nothing wrong with it, I suggest reading the title of this thread again (Dangerous precedent). It is NOT a tremendous, game breaking thing but it can lead to something from what we want to stay away.
old pick<new pick (something like this should never exist, they cost the same, both of them are for convenience, one should not be better than the other)
Enough said hope they will do something about it.
Remember when they buffed the celestial ascended trinket stats by like, 25%? Maybe they’ll do it again. Give them time.
There are many, many things wrong with that.
You assume the forum moderation team have any hand in game development.
You tell someone to take their game construction elsewhere and to “stop complaining.”
You then go on to complain about the forums, the posters and the game itself. Also, you may want to learn the difference between “Then” and “Than.”
Couldn’t agree more.

Yeah i am with u, i also crafted ascended celestial for my ele. What will happen after the nerf this set will have so low dmg output wont worth nothing.
There is a reason why it’s not out yet. They’re still testing changes to the gear. Stop complaining and if you’re gonna complain go complain elsewhere.
ANet has other crap to do then delete these threads and merge them all day. Like actually making content that isn’t total crap (looking at you scarlet and everything you’ve ruined)

Just incase you didn’t know, S&R went to useless mode when they nerfed it not to revive defeated players… it’s dead to me anyway. YMMV.
I want to switch to my alts to run in WvW, but i can’t because i will loose WXP on my main. So i haven’t played my alts ever since WXP system was introduced.
That’s my feedback on current WXP system.
A much needed change account rank , but abilities per charcter not account , you still get the points but can spend em once per character , this is a no brainer tbh
There are only two groups of people who don’t see the problem: Anet devs (who don’t play wvw) and people who just play one toon (generally warrior/guardian).
Anyone who plays more than one toon knows that char bound wvw totally sucks, and sucks more the more ranks you clock up on alts or your main. Wexp liquid drops are a joke if they are meant to be helping alts- as you can use them on the toon that dropped them, so they don’t help at all.
People saying it will make upscaled too strong don’t know how the upscaling works (and they could easily code it so the +250 vit points don’t scale).
I’d like to switch toons – like when I notice we are short on necros, or eles, but at the moment I am heavily penalised for doing so which discourages me from doing so, hence restricting my enjoyment of the game.
I think we’re all wasting our breath here though, as it’s quite clear that wvw is lowest priority for the devs in the game and account bound wexp would be even lower downt the list than that.
And finally, why the hell can’t we re arrange our rank points in the same way as we can trait points??
I’m not going to be a party pooper, but I will look at it in a realistic way. First of all let us look at what we currently have in this game. We have a bank that is account bounded. (There are several games MMORPG out there, that has Bank per character). We can access the bank by going to major towns or hopefully find the bank tag in open PvE map (Crafting stations, Bank NPC in mount maelstorm etc).
When we look at gemstore we can find a bank golem which we have access for two weeks of the price of 500 gems. It does the same purpose which an account bag would do + a little bit more because its your bank.
Then if we do open tons of Black Lion Chests or are willing to put a thousands of gold on the trading post for it. We can get aPermanent Bank Access which then again serve the same purpose as an account bag + more. Again you can Buy/ farm key till you get it.
Again I don’t say its a bad design to include an account bag. I’m all for it, but looking at it in a realistic way that we already have an account bag which is called a bank and can be upgraded to 12 bag slots. That’s 12 × 20 = 240 slots of bag space.
So any words?
The personal bank cash shop item is not the same thing as what is being proposed. One does not make the other obsolete either. Having a small space in your inventory where you can keep items you don’t want to throw in/out of the bank just to get to another character is a huge benefit, and original idea that we don’t currently have.
It is also not being proposed that this is an alternative to having the bank or personal banking golem either. They serve completely different needs. I know that with the salvage-o-matic and my infinite harvesting items (as well as MF Conduit) – the last thing I want to have to do is;
- run back to town
- throw items in the bank
- log in on my other character
- get them to town
- grab item from the bank
- make my way back to where I actually want to be.
Its this mentality and implementation that we currently have that keeps people stuck in the towns all the time, instead of out in the world actually playing the game.
Additionally, this item should be limited to one per account, have a decent cost (say, 600 gems), and should really only have enough space for the super essential stuff that people don’t want to waste their time running to town for all the time. Maybe a 10 slot bag, so you can store the 3 infinite tools, salvage-o-matic, MF conduit, black lion contracts, and maybe your potion/food. It could also be a good place to store a pet or two since it shouldn’t auto-deposit items preferably.
I only know a few people that have ever purchased the bank golem cash shop item too. They also said they wouldn’t do it ever again because it isn’t worth it. It is simply not what people are looking for when it comes to inventory convenience. This proposal fills a different need.
This fills a vacuum not covered by the bank golem or the permanent bank access. It’s a very good idea that will only generate more gem sales (because you’ll need gems to buy it, and it gives players even more incentive to buy the infinite tools).
If you confine it to 8 to 10 slots, it takes a unique place in the game that no other item can possibly cover, especially if you’re dealing with 8 or more alts.
This would make me spend real money in the cash shop. I love it.
