Great, you took out the one skill not on necros (their down state hits harder than warriors now? fricking really?) that can actually kill guardians in Guardian Wars 2. So all anet wants is guardians, necros, and the occasional Mesmer and ele. Real fun game now in WvW. Real fun.

I like the exhaustion idea but I think 3 min is too long. Commanders need to be able to pop out 2-4 of something very quickly. Now if you are limited to 4 every 2 min I think that will help. Another thing I would like to see is object and body blocking! Make it so they have edges and cant be put over each other. Do the same for people! Friendly players can go through you or push you aside slowly but enemies are stopped! Make it so shield warriors and guardians can body block a gap in a wall or gate just like in real castle sieges! would be freaking sweet!

Defense wins if you don’t have an organized siege strategy. As in build some trebs if you have to, some cats closer, have eles/rangers nuke walls, and bring in golems. Or let them bunker and win. I love siege warfare along with the open field zerg fights! Makes me feel all medieval.

First and foremost, what a blast! I’ve never been more proud of our server! NSP had a fantastic time and did amazing, winning second place in the silver tier! Our server has gone from being 18th overall consistently to being bumped into silver league last minute for season 1 to place 8th in silver, to then placing 4th in season 2, to now being SECOND PLACE IN SILVER!!!! We have improved every tournament and have very steady progress in WvW over time (we are 13th now on millennium rankings) which is very cool. We had the closest match I think in our history against SBI and DR which had us all within 400 pts with 14 hours to go, I don’t know if there has been a closer match ever. It was intense! A huge thank you to all of you NSP BL defenders, some who stayed up 24 hours and 30 hours to hold the line! It literally came down to you all and the camp flippers/tower takers/havoc teams that kept a trickle of points coming in to put us up 1500 pts by the time the day players got on. AND the “fairweather” folks too who would not have logged on to WvW unless we were winning (unfortunate but true). Also a HUGE thank you to all our commanders who dedicate time and gold and frustration and glory to us!

Now for the gripes, then I will end positive again At two points in this tourney I was very disappointed. In week 3 our server gave up on Thursday when DB pulled ahead. Rather than fighting to the death to see if we could pull it out against their RIDICULOUS SEA population people threw in the towel and decided to just go for 2d place overall instead. I was disappointed greatly since gaming points on a tournament is life, but let’s face it we all really know that YB, CD, and DB are above NSP. To beat DB would’ve meant something special. But oh well. If the tournament was done the way it should have been done NSP would’ve finished 4th in silver again behind those 3 servers and ahead of DR and SBI, but like I said, oh well—we didn’t set up the tournament rules and points. The second disappointing thing was that the same thing almost happened in week 4. We have over 120 people actively playing on our NSP TS on Tues night. Wed and Thurs that population dropped by 40 or more, made no sense at all. There was a 3500 spread at 6:30 EST with us behind and people wouldn’t get in to WvW to save it. I was so mad I wanted to break something. But like I said, NSP defense pulled out some magic along with the havoc folks on Thursday night If NSP had 3 or 4 SEA guilds we would absolutely dominate. Hopefully we can get some transfers in. One last gripe is that some of us need training or something. I am so used to zergs being on the commander tag and following instructions in TS that it was flat out weird to have at least three occasions where no one would listen at all. First time was in morning when no other commanders were on. I tagged up out of desperation. Pugs/small guilds loosely followed me and at times did not listen at all. At one specific instance I told the TS channel to stack on me for might hidden out of site on staircase and even said it in “say” chat. Not a single person did. We had even numbers and because people didn’t listen and did seemingly random things we wiped and lost tower. Same thing happened to Ira in EB SBI Keep. He told everyone to get upstairs and hit cannons. Four people went. Same thing happened to Cyan the next week. People totally off tag in garrison waypoint doing random things. All three situations ended in needless wipes. The next day after the garrison wipe Fabian is running a mixed group in EB and people do exact perfection like they are in a major T1 guild and obliterate our opponents repeatedly. I am trying to wrap my head around what the failed times had in common but I can’t figure it out other than we need training for the smaller guilds and pugs. Dunno.

Let’s talk about Yak’s Bend now. I have nothing but respect for ya’ll! Very cool server. ya’ll are very good and in my opinion were the only people to challenge us in open/ field/siege situations with near even numbers at all (rest of the servers we usually beat your huge zergs with less people and that is a fact no matter how much you want it not to be). You have smart commanders, a huge population, and ya’ll are good and dominate, but are not cruel. You sweeped through us, papered everything, but didn’t hunker down and make it embarrassing. Then you did the same to the other server we were playing (DB), keeping it a fair fight for 2d place. Much respect to you and I hope ya’ll can hang against the T2 servers

Well that is enough rambling for now! What a great tourney and time!

PS You try hard roamers on DR and SBI that have to take the fight to npc’s to make sure you can revive when you die and then run away like a little kitten after you do need to get some skill

Solution to fix the population imbalance

in WvW

Paladin.1279

I think they should close the six lowest population servers and have them free transfer to servers 7-18 and then you have three tiers with six worlds each. “Community” will stay the same because megaserver killed off PvE “community” already and since the closing servers can all transfer to same new server they will maintain their “WvW” community. Nuff said.

Well I certainly hope so since another gameplay programmer said that. AND oh the inconvenience of the Guild Wars 2 Rules of Conduct https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/ Rule 1.While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game.
I have to say…I am VERY disappointed in the griefing that is allowed in this game. It is like Anet went to SLEEP compared to GW1. It literally took 3 hours, hundreds of complaints and a dev in our guild coming online to get a person banned for ruining marionette for our server. This is unacceptable. Now we have a broken party system that is SO easily fixed by reinstating party leader that is unkickable, unless they DC or leave party (then it simply goes to 2d person to join party and so on), and we have all sorts of other issues that are flat out ignored by Anet staff. I want to play an Anet game, not a blizzard hostile community game.

Would Teq/Wurm be Better if Instanced?

in The Origins of Madness

Posted by: Paladin.1279

Paladin.1279

Yes. I usually don’t like WoW ideas, but a guy in our guild says that fights like this are instanced there, 50 people or so. There are too many variables that don’t make this fun at all. ONE troll could keep attacking at 1% on worm body and fail it for the lolz. People can afk and ruin it. People can be upleveled. People can have broken armor. People can have no ascended gear, let alone even exotic gear. All this is OUT of the player’s control. This is basic psychology, it puts us into unwinnable situations (which actually lead to fight or flight, which is why people go nuts in TS on each other but that is a whole other topic in of itself). It takes the joy out of the game. Worm is just an absolutely stupid fight that you have to have 150+ people, do it all right, THEN you get a two minute timer. Idiotic. Marionette is possibly greatest fight in any game I played…with the sole exception that you CANNOT pick the parties that go on the pads, so once again ONE person, ONE troll or ONE party of five can fail the whole thing. This is so close to perfection, I don’t know why Anet who was brilliant in GW has included a fault in almost every major fight in this game. New staff or something, but in short they need to pull their heads out of their behinds. And make no mistake, this is NOT elite content. As I pointed out, a person could be afk for most of fight, take a few swings and get credit right at end. So what is the point? What is the point of a 150 person “raid” that is so dependent on teamwork and timing, yet some could barely contribute and still get full credit? Makes zero sense. Bring back 8 party dungeons/instances, 12 party dungeons/instances, and as my guildy said, 25 or even 50 party instances. And if you anet folks just HAVE to have a full map of players for your egos, make it so we can AS A GUILD get a completely clean map where WE can invite the 150 players WE WANT. Trying not to rage, but right on the edge of raging here.

Some final observations. NSP folks that think we can escort dolyaks in our BL all day and upgrade everything there need to reread the earlier observations and facts. We do NOT have 24 hour coverage and most likely never will unless some bronze servers read this and go OH WOW THEY ARE AWESOME we are all transferring to NSP. Sure upgrade as you see fit. Do not freaking yell at us how important it is to hold garrison against CD while IoJ has our keep. Read how points work. UNDERSTAND how points work. If you cannot get 1rst because CD has twice the number of people as you…trying to hold off CD is a waste of time. Let them have the points from us but RETAKE points from IoJ and then head to IoJ to take their points. It is simple math. Still thank you for trying though. You at least kept some players busy while the rest of us put points on the board.

Once again thanks again to everyone in NSP (except you Reido, you are and always will be a troll who actually hurts our server’s chances of winning) it was great fun not being last!

I’ll start with a quote I read on the forums which sums up how I feel as a player on NSP.

“I think if NSP had more numbers they would be scary. I reckon the average player on NSP is probably at a higher skill level than any other server i have played against.”

/salute House Calls.7641

A lot of us in NSP are veteran guild wars players who know how to synergize builds for elite dungeons/hard mode/level 48 FotM type areas and we started as and still are a PvE server. We do not have anything near 24 hour coverage. The most queue time we had during all of the season that I saw was 10 min on I think 2 reset weekends…and only on our BL and EB. I am immensely proud of our server and thank everyone of you (except you Reido, you are and always will be a troll who actually hurts our server’s chances of winning) who helped in WvW during the season, some of you against your wishes since we were put in the difficult position of being in an entirely different tier than we expected (some players even boycotted the whole season, which is ridiculous I know, but that is what some did). I especially want to thank our commanders, specifically Ira, Pointe, Smitry, and Cosmicwarmachine (the ones I was usually with). Also a thank you to Gabe for setting up the teamspeak, it was/is a huge help and when people joined it we tore it up. We were a server that a year ago was basically 18 every week and showed beyond a shadow of doubt that we are 14 and silver league. Now on to some observations.

Zerg for zerg some of you higher ranked servers should be downright ashamed. We would consistently roflstomp bigger zergs week after week after week. And I’m talking us 40 you 40, us 60 you 60, us 40 you 50, us 40 you 60, and even us 40 you 80 and we still wipe ya’ll and move on. We would win three-ways that we had no business even being in. We would take keeps while you defended them with more people than we had. In all complete honesty from what I observed the only real challenges were players/zergs from Stormbluff and Fort Aspenwood. The other 6 servers won by shear numbers. Which brings up my next observation. WvW on a whole is kinda silly (notice I didn’t say not worth playing, because it is still quite fun at times—but when you know you will lose it is silly and actually not fun. Weeks 1 and 7 were awesome. Rest was in all honesty a waste of time for us. We had no chance and ya’ll knew we had no chance). It is almost preordained who will win, strictly off WvW participation and the time of day of that participation. A server could have the crappiest players in the world, but if they can pack WvW so there is a queue on all 4 maps…they win. They win everytime until they get to a server that can also pack all 4 maps and has better players/commanders. Heaven forbid a server actually pay entire guilds’ transfer fees and pay them for participation at the end of their “contract”…you know who you are out there. Don’t get me wrong, WvW is amazing for the experiences. Those moments you rebuild a gate and trap a zerg in your garrison. When you are running for your life and another mini zerg saves you. When a thief tries to backstab 2 shot you to only realize that you only lost 5k out of 23k health. When you hide out in a keep or SM and flip it 3 min after it was taken. When you knock someone off a mountain, or even kill someone mid air as you follow them off a mountain to your death. But I just feel the overall experience can and should be better. The best matches are when it is close, when you have a chance at winning. The worst are when you can’t even show that you have a chance because some overpowered server won’t leave you alone to fight off the server you know you are better than, ie. Yak’s Bend focusing us and leaving IoJ almost completely alone. We are an easy target, but as we proved twice, IoJ was an easier target…guess it was a roll of the dice as to who they picked to be their witch with a b. I wish Anet could figure out a way that every week’s match ups would be closer. And I’m not talking some mathematical handicap that you won! but didn’t win by enough points so you drop in ranking…so sorry. Because in league play that didn’t happen anyways. So there needs to be something else. I’m just thinking out loud, but maybe henchmen or a less populated server gets twice the number of guards/NPCs, I don’t know, but something. (continued)

Ascended armor

Paladin.1279

We need to be able to UPGRADE our existing set of max exotic armor to ascended armor when it comes out. Otherwise we will have to spend a fortune in transmutation crystals and it looks like a money grab by Anet which has been committed for 8 years to you being able to get max stat items fairly easily to keep it fair across the board for players. Spending gems on fun stuff is one thing, but when you’ve already spent a lot of in game gold on an armor set/weapon to then have its stats get nerfed and you have to spend a ton of in game gold on new max stat, THEN have to spend real money to skin it if you can’t get lucky on map completion to get crystals…that is wrong. Let us put our current skin in the forge with 3 other crafted items, same result without us having to blow transmutation crystals and money. Keep it that money is for fun stuff (finishers, mini pets, etc) NOT to keep the skin you already bought with gold, crafted, or spent real money on already.

Same thing is happening in NSP like above mentioned and quite frankly we are getting seriously ticked off. Not only is it a ton of guests, they are starting events EARLY on purpose, so you nearly miss Arah, Grenth, and Lyssa IF YOU CAN EVEN GET INTO YOUR OWN HOME SERVER. This is utterly ridiculous. I posted on this months ago. Solution is deprioritize guests, as in if a home person clicks the zone, the guests get BUMPED into overflow in a last in first out formakittenis simple so simple, same way a WP that is contested bumps you. Or make it so guests don’t get rewards. Or END GUESTING. It has been a year. Go to your “friends” server already and STOP PUTTING ME IN OVERFLOW JUST SO YOU CAN HAVE WVW BENEFITS AND STEAL SLOTS FROM PEOPLE THAT PICKED A SOLID PVE SERVER over a WVW one a YEAR AGO.

Because they don’t mind telling you they are guests in map chat and that their servers don’t do anything except WvW… So people that go to top tier WvW servers just to “be cool” still get to get all the loot and benefits of a hardcore PvE server (which my server NSP is). That alone is not cool. THEN we have guildies that miss events for these guests. That is UNACCEPTABLE and needs to change pronto.

Guesting has to change or stop

Paladin.1279

Alright, our server is now being bombarded by guests again to do the temple zerg/meta events that their servers are too lame to not do. Many people including myself and my guildies are getting forced into an overflow at least once a night now, sometimes more. It has to be amazingly simple to move guests out of an area INTO overflow to make room for home server people. This dynamic is already in place for when you are moved from a Way Point when it becomes contested. For example, server fills up, guests get notification “you have been moved to overflow to make room for home players”. Nuff said.

A single crazed guild leader, or one having a bad day could single handedly WIPE out a guild. This is IDIOTIC and must be fixed! Our entire guild model of KOTR is that we are like the knights of the round and once you hit officer you are the same as everyone else and can’t be kicked without a vote. Guild leader or founding father can NEVER be kicked. This crazy change of a guild leader being able to demote another guild leader TOTALLY ruins that model if we get one person with a bad day that goes crazy on us.
