Changing Sylvari Name to Sound Lore-Friendly

I think Kanoaa its a pretty good name, has a good ring to it. Myself I named my sylvari Gwynleaf (Used Gwyn from Dark souls, added leaf as the sylvari reference), as long as its one name it’ll be close to sylvari culture, they use one name only.

After reading most of this thread, I can say its not worth the time speaking to Aden, he’s bent on believing his hypothesis even if proof or solid arguments is showed to his face, and you can’t discuss with closed minds like his, let him continue believing his stuff, I myself feel somehow insulted the way he ignores most of what is shown to him, being info known to most of the community since a long time.

Let this thread die in silence, do not let it keep going.

Do not even bother answering me Aden for I won’t enter this thread of yours again.

Try double axes, it can be pretty fun, its a fast action weapon. Axes are more suitable for power warriors (don’t use the berserker elite spec though, its became useless for power warriors with the recent patch). I would say an hybrid build between berserker and soldier stats (for both damage and survivability in pve), with the traits of strength, defense and discipline could work pretty well for axe wielders.

Massive Warrior NERF!!!!

I have been testing warrior in WvW and PvP, and power berserker is worse than dead.

It’s ironic, since most of the new Berserker utility skills, including the elite, focuses on getting adrenaline, which in turn helps primal burst trigger Adrenal health, Cleansing Ire and Berserker’s power. Now, full charge primal is worth 1 adrenaline bar, which makes any sustain warriors had completely useless.

Vanilla warrior might be good, but without adrenaline gaining methods of the berserker spec, it is similarly useless and slow. Condi warrior had a SLIGHT buff, and nerf in other areas, but basically ArenaNet found a way to beat a dead horse even further.

Congratulations.

If in power it seems Arms a better way to gain adrenaline. trait up the signets and use a combination of Furious with Signet mastery for ferocity stacks. Best I could come up with so far. I was already in this spec prior and while my armor took ferocity at the expensive of precison and must now be changed as this flipped with new signet mastery , It has potential.

Strength works better as well IMO so it akin to making Zerker more like one of the old core specs wherein it no longer that much better.

This, signet of fury at the beggining of a battle can give you all the adrenaline to activate the most useful traits for a power warrior. The arms trait tree gives a boost to the use of the signets and gives a big bonus for damage. It is true that for power builds the berserker “elite” spec is useless. But we still can make something good out of the core warrior (can’t believe they took away the 20% critical chance the sword had against foes with bleeding conditions and instead increase the kitten bleeding condition duration. That shows the love they have for condi).

After testing these changes in fractals, i can say for sure power berserker is dead, core warrior deals more dmg than berserker ones. The only thing berkerser has some uses is condition related, and that’s not really what the “berserker” word implies (jesus, berserkers makes one think about warriors known to brutally kills their opponent not burning or bleeding them to death).

I return to core warrior and I really hope anet doesn’t nerf that one or they will take away from me all options to play the class I like the way I like it

Being a powerful mesmer does not make one a tyrant. Have the capability to be d everyone to your will does not mean that you have done so any more than a big badkitten warrior’s ability to bully everyone smaller than himself means that he does so.

That said, she is a dictator, even if not necessarily a tyrant.

She is not a dicator, she’s a monarch, dictator is a person who gets to power through sheer force, without an hereditary succession to legitimate his rule. Caudecus would have been a dictator had his schemes worked.

Once I played an amazing game named Dragon’s Dogma, incredible gameplay and the story I liked it as well, something called my attention there which some of the players really praised: The world is bigger than the player’s role in it. In this particular game players were chosen to slay a massive dragon that could destroy entire civilizations, but during the story we learn of some characters with their own life and dramas and most of them were left unresolved… why? because our character’s role was only one: fight the dragon. We weren’t supposed to meddle in every plot around the world (politics, the kingdoms rivalries, a betrayer whose final destiny we didn’t learned, the church’s secret and dark organization and so many more). We were left with many plotholes because thats how a realistic world works, we cannot learn everything about everything.

Like what happened in Dragons Dogma, in the Guildwars universe life went on while we played through the story: while we fough Zhaitan, kasmeer, marjory and all of the dragon’s watch members were on their own lives, during the fight with mordemoth, caudecus was preparing to make his move for the krytan throne. So much happened behind the scenes while we were doing these things, and, likewise, so many stories happening right now while we are busy with the new revealed threat that we don’t know of and are not suppose to know, at least not yet. All that is left to us is to speculate, deduce or wait for anet to reveal these stories and mysteries to us.

And in the end, if you don’t really like it, then perhaps this game’s plot isn’t really for you (not everyone loved The Lord of The Ring plot, or the godfather’s, or mass effect’s, etc), as for me I’m pretty thrilled with the current events.

I support this idea, I’ve stored 2 very useful infusions in the bank because I don’t want the animation effects they give, I’m more practical and realistic when it comes down to design my characters (no angelical or demonic looking toons). So it would be amazing if we could have a check box to allow the players who wants the infusions but not the effects to use them.

Another point is that all of those copies were greenish looking, Eir was not.

Nope, I don’t think eir was a copy.

Yes I really hate that A-Net is forcing me to do achievements that I care nothing about and don’t really want to do. Not including enough Mastery points on the HoT maps themselves to finish all the masteries is a bad decision on their part. In order to get the last 12 mastery points I need to finish the last mastery I have to do achievements, and I do not like doing achievements. Why should I be forced to do a part of the game I don’t want to do to get my legendary short bow? A-Net please I know you can find challenging ways to add more mastery spots on the maps themselves so those of us who don’t like do the achievements don’t have to. It is like telling every play you must do raids or you must play wvw or pvp. Let us play our way.

Unbelievable, you want anet to mail you your wanted legendary too? there is a reason why those are called “legendaries” and crafting most of them will mean a lot of time, work, patience and sometimes doing things you don’t like. You don’t wanna do archievements? forget about your legendary weapon and there you go.

Seriously ppl are getting more and more lazy by the day, what good are legendaries if you can easily get them? where will the satisfaction of making something difficult go? sigh…

How does “I don’t like this” = “you are lazy”? I don’t like to eat squash. If eating squash was a requirement to finish becoming a chef, the fact that I don’t really want to do it doesn’t mean I’m lazy or want it for free. That is completely illogical.

Lazy as “I want to make something but want to do it with the less effort possible, including the stuff I don’t like” call it what you want, If you want to do something everyone must do if they want the same thing, you’ll have to accept doing everything needed to craft that legendary, if you need to complete archievements for it, then you’ll have to do it, simply as that, raging that you must do things you don’t like at the forum to craft stuff that is not obligatory is just whining about something you’re too lazy to do

Complaining to a company about something you don’t like about their product is perfectly acceptable. No, you don’t have to accept doing what everyone else did. Map completion used to include WvW and now it doesn’t. Things change – often from player input which Anet themselves said.

And you can continue to say “lazy”, but since it is obviously the wrong word that’s on you lol.

Not sure about that, as I’m pretty sure I’ve made my point (english isn’t even my native language), this post of yours though…

Jennah's kingdom and Kryta nation

Pax.3548

So what happens now? Their everlasting love has ended

There never was a romantic love on Jennah’s end. It was unrequited love on Logan’s end, but he’s finally come to his senses.

That’s incorrect – and Episode 4’s show that Jennah never had feelings for Logan is just a blatant retcon. Jennah outright states in chapter 3 of the personal story (the instance you kill Kellach – regardless of which Order you join) that she does indeed love Logan.

Before killing Kellach:

PC: Captain Thackeray is very worried about you, Your Majesty.
Jennah: Logan? He mustn’t worry…please, tell him I’II be fine. If he is distracted, and gets hurt, I don’t know what I would do.
PC: If I may be so bold, ma’am, the two of you seem to care about one another very much.
Jennah: He is like an angel sent from Dwayna to be at my side. If things were different, or if Kryta were at peace. then perhaps…

After killing Kellach:

PC: You know that you could stop him, right? One word from you, and he’d stay.
Jennah: No, Advocate. I have enough servants—I want a partner. Logan must be free to make his own decisions. I made such a mistake once before. I won’t make it again.

That dialogue very clearly shows that Jennah does indeed have feelings for Logan. But the main reason she doesn’t act on those feelings is because 1) she wants an equal not a servant, and Logan places himself as the latter, and 2) because the political turmoil (most likely Caudecus) would use her relationship to Logan against her.

If Anet wants to fix what seems to be a blatant retcon, the next time we’re presented with Jennah it’ll be that she pretended such in order to get Logan to act for himself at long last (she’s been trying to do this since we first meet her in the PS after all, and Caudecus Manor story dungeon has her almost succeeding), and the next time those two reunite it’ll be flirting left and right, since the largest political issue (Caudecus undermining Jennah) is no more.

I’ve played the human personal story for a couple of times and I’ve figured Jennah’s personality and her opinion regarding logan, the last chapters of the living season, however, make me feel very odd when our char interacts with her, she is indifferent with logan’s feelings when some years ago, as you stated in your post, she seemed to reciprocate at least some of his feelings. For some time now I’ve been feeling this Jennah is somehow not the real Jennah, I believe someone is impersonating her, probably Lyssa.

Race should NOT matter for stats builds, I like my human warr and I’m sure as hell I don’t want to be force to create a cat to have a better warrior build in pve. There is freedom in this game, the freedom to choose whatever race you want without worring that your choice could affect your playstyle with whatever class/builds you want, I’ve seen many players using asura warriors and such a change would bite them surely.

And because you say the game is boring that way doesn’t make it so, many, if not most gw2 players don’t want those differences (the stats/build part at least) and that should be respected as well. About the story being affected by your racer, well that is a different matter and I don’t think many would disagree with you there.

I’m having some high ping problems these last days, first time ever since playing gw2, at one point (during tangled depths meta) the lag was so horrible I had MINUTES delay instead of the usual few seconds delay when using skills (whats even more curious is that the action around me was pretty fluid, other players were just fighting the chak gerent normally). While this was happening I checked my internet speed and surprisingly it was fine, I could get to any page I wanted without noticeable delay.
So, i checked the forums and posts and used this program pingplotter and got two images of the two times i’ve used it by now, but I don’t have the knowlegde to read it, can anyone say to me if the problem is on my side or on anet’s?

the quality of the items goes this way: white<blue<green<yellow<orange<pink/purple. Where white items are the “worse” stuff, and the pink/purple are the best ones (pink or red stand for ascended items, purple for legendary items, both of them have the SAME stats, difference is that with the legendary items you can change its type of stats (for example: you can change berserker stats to soldier stats). If you have ascended stuff then you already have the best quality items.

wow, that little remark is indeed very important, but well the elder dragons are no weak things neither, they exterminate all life in the planet each cycle so the gods must’ve been wary of them at least (especially knowing that dragons eat magic and gods are, in essense, magical beings). This could explain why the gods didn’t return to tyria after their exodus or even why did their influence diminished over the centuries.

GW1 Player Character Vs. GW2 Player Character

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pax.3548

Gw2 characters.
I thought about this same question tiiiime ago, but rationally thinking in the lore and not skill mechanics (canonically, the hero in gw1 did all his archievements with other powerful companions), and i think gw2 hero is a lot stronger than gw1 hero, by comparison i think gw2 hero is like what shiro was back in gw1, legendary strong, (lorewise it took the hero with many of his companions, from both tyria and cantha to be able to beat him) and seeing how in many instances the hero in gw2 battles alone (lorewise) a lot of strong foes (and being able to kill dozens of mobs on his own), i think of him/her as being something of a shiro tagachi but in gw2.

In terms of archievement, well the hero of gw1 did manage to do a lot of great things, but so has our hero managed to do great feats in gw2, and the game isn’t even over yet, so his/her story isn’t over yet neither.
I think both heroes are great and powerful on their own standing, but i think the hero of gw2 has a bigger destiny stored for him, not because of favoritism, but because the current situation in gw2 demands a strong hero, capable own is own, but also capable of uniting all races against a common foe.
Lazarus' identity a poor plot twist

I liked this season, don’t see any real problem with it, the game surprised me heavily with the revelation this last chapter which I really liked, felt like the gw universe is big instead of the “always the same heroes and same villains” type of game, few games archieve that. And of course, i won’t be telling anet which way THEIR story should go, i’m not a master at writing plots and i’m pretty sure the ppl here aren’t either.

Spoilers Lazarus

in Living World

Posted by: Pax.3548

Pax.3548
First thing, Lazarus was not powerfull before absorbing bloodstone. Mursaat were powerfull spellcasters, but as we seen in GW1, they can be easily killed by anyone who can counter their invisibility and spectral agony.

Second thing, when you disguise into someone, you find a balance between trying to appeal to the most powerfull force out there and being discovered. If you try to imposter as Osama bin Laden you get a bullet in a knee from the terrorists (who know that he is dead for sure) and then a shot to the head from a US sniper (just to be sure if you were Osama). And that is what exactly happened with Balthazar. Had he honestely showed his identity to us in Ep2 in Aurine’s chamber his plan would not be faulted and by this time he would drain two dragons dry and Tiria would be a pile of space litter. The same thing if he revealed his identity to Jennah or disguised as something not untrustworthy (seer, Gleam or Salzman from bookkeeping).
As i said, lazarus was among the most powerful MORTAL beings in tyria, and exactly because how he wielded magic, sure he wasn’t almighty but his race was a powerful one, it took the titans invasion to wipe them out, they managed to survive the last dragon awakeing by themselfes, fleeing into the mist (while the other races were saved by glint). Balthazar doesn’t care about tyria, and being a god i don’t think the god of war could be humble enough to call for help, besides he said it himself, he doesn’t care what happen to tyria, so obviously he went undercover because in secret one can move more freely. And i stated the reason why lazarus’s figure would be a perfect disguice, because of his influence among the white mantle which, i remind you, had one of the bloodstone under their control. Don’t make it more complicated than it is, balthazar is weak, he needed a figure he could impersonate so he could move freely on tyria and lazarus was the most useful image to use. Of course all of this thinking is my own you can agree or not but i think its logical what balthazar did (future content will probably reveal his real motives)

Spoilers Lazarus

in Living World

Posted by: Pax.3548

Pax.3548

It seems ppl didn’t get a one simple fact: Balthazar implies that he has lost his shiny and divine powers (the power that made him the almighty god he once was), a third party (we don’t know who yet, maybe its the others gods from the human pantheon, or maybe it was his half brother menzies who finally managed to defeat him and usurp his place as god of war) managed to dethrone him and rob him his powers (much like what grenth did to dhuum).

So, balthazar is in a very weakened state, and there are beings more powerful than mere mortals who would be interested in a weakened god, OF COURSE he would choose to move undercover, and what better cover than lazarus, who was known to be powerful, maybe one of the most powerful mortal beings in the world. The white mantle was trying to revive lazarus, that was a PERFECT chance to come into the world, impersonating someone powerful, worshipped by a strong organization and at the same time have access to one of the five bloodstones in which to regain some of his powers.
