UPDATE: ACCOUNT RESTORED!

After close to 64 hours of being permanently banned, the status of my account was changed to ‘Hacked Account’ and then a few minutes later it was changed to ‘Access Restored’.

Support wrote that my account had been hacked and being used for botting. Then it was caught in the Bot Sweep and terminated. If that’s what really went down, I’ll probably never know… but I AM glad to have my account back.

Best of luck to everyone else suffering from this issue, I hope you all get your accounts back ASAP.

UPDATE (63 hours since reporting ban):

Something has changed. I just tried to login to the game and the message has gone from “permanently terminated for botting”, to “account may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual”. Also, the subject of my support ticket has been changed from “Blocked Account” to “Hacked Account”…

Does this mean I’m now on the shortlist to getting back in? I hope so. But it doesn’t make it right to all the other people here who were erroneously banned, especially those who sumitted tickets before me.

At the risk of sounding trollish… do people still read gamespy? Especially when they are worse than IGN for taking money for good/bad reviews.

As far as overall # of readers, I have no idea. I only came across the article while I was googling this issue. However, there are quite a few comments on the article, so you would have to assume its still being read by some people.

Well, I have finally got my ban lifted after about 2 days. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting for their tickets to be answered! I hope you all get to play again as fast as possible!

Wow retek. you got very lucky. You started your ticket 2-3 days after mine. Exact same issue , I handed over the info almost 2 days before you and I’m still waiting ever since. At least I’m happy for you and happy to see that the exact same issue I have is solved for you.

This really irritates me and is only making matters worse. How can they ask us to sit here, wait patiently and “trust that we will be tended to” when so many people are getting resolution BEFORE other people who submitted tickets prior to them? It makes it seem like there really is no order and worry that we will never be tended to.

Its like adding your name to a restaraunt wait list for a table only to have other walk-ins get repeatedly seated before you. Only in this case, when you ask the hostess what’s going on, she just ignores you.

Is ban sweep a response to this Gamespy Article?

On October 26th, GameSpy published this article: Guild Wars 2’s Bot Crisis — ArenaNet Needs To Step Up Before It’s Too Late

Then, within just a couple weeks, MASSIVE bans sweep through Tyria and the next thing you know legions of people are on the support forums begging and pleading for assistance after being swept up in the ban.

So, did ANet see this article and in a panic to show they were doing something, overreact by implementing banning procedures who’s filter criteria was/is not as proficient at discerning bots from users as it should be?

If this is the case, ANet needs to ask itself what’s worse; the bad press from Gamespy about having too many bots? Or, the blowback that comes when Gamespy writes a follow-up article about how ANet erroneously banned hundreds of users in an effort to save face from the original article?

UPDATE:

I was wrongfully banned and submitted my ticket about 60 hours ago (2.5 days). I still have not heard a single word back from ANet. My planned weekend GW2 marathon with my daughter is shot. And Anet doesn’t even have the decency to respond.

This is clearly an issue affecting hundreds of people and yet the Bans are apparently still happening. I can’t help but think ANet is getting dangerously close to being in Class-Action territory here.

Unjustly and erroneously banned around 8:30 to 9:00 pm on 11/08 for botting. I’ve been waiting about 50 hours now. No contact from ANet since reported.

UPDATE:

Approximately 36 hours since my UNJUST ban and 35 hours since I submitted a ticket for it. Still no word, still locked out….

This is especially frustrating because my wife and I just bought GW2 for my daughter who’s been asking for it since we started playing. We gave the account to her on Monday for her birthday. Since then she’s been excited all week because we promised her this weekend we were going to start new characters together have a family GW2 marathon. Now my daugther is totally bummed out and my wife is EXTREMELY pissed off about the whole thing to the point that she’s talking about quitting Gw2 altogether and demanding refunds for all 3 … I’m not there, yet. But the situation needs to be resolved fast.

This whole situation sucks and pretty much upset our whole family. It’s made worse by the complete lack of communication from support. After this I will NEVER, EVER buy a game that does not have support via telephone. It’s just not worth the trouble.

Just an update:
– It’s now been aboout 25 hours since I was erroneously banned and 24 hours since I submitted a support ticket (with ALL required information). Other than the intial automatic email confirmation of the issue, I’ve heard nothing.

Ditto. Never botted in my life, have no reason to. But my account was terminated for it tonight. Very dissapointing. I’ve submitted a ticket but I haven’t heard anything yet.

Same here. Was playing from a coffee shop until about 8:30, I tried to log back in about an hour later from home only to find that my account had been permanently terminated for botting…

Very sad, very dissapointed. Especially because I just got a new account for my daughter so we could play together this weekend.

Tonight, after playing from a Dunkin Doughnuts for about 30 minutes while waiting for my daughter’s art class to end, I came home and attempted to login only to find my account had been permanently terminated for botting… I have NEVER botted in my life, what the heck? I wouldn’t know how to do it if I wanted to.

I would really like to know what it was that made them think I was a bot. Considering the fact that I have reported NUMEROUS bots (aka nude archers) I think it’s pretty ironic that I’m getting blocked for botting.

Anyway I just submitted a ticket but reading here that it will take 2-3 days to fix makes me sad…

the reason that less keys drop then chests because if that were not the the case, then there would be no reason to buy keys whatsoever.

Like I said, if there was something valuable in the chests that would make sense, but there’s not, therefore, there is no reason to buy keys.

1 key right now costs about 1g 18s (125 gems). For what? So I can run around looking like a Moa for 30 minutes? Or for a crafting booster that is useless since I’ve maxed out of crafting? No, for what’s in the chests, the key to chest ratio is just too low and the cost of the keys is to high. If they wanted me to actually buy gems so I would buy keys to open chests, they should put something in the chest that has real value to players, like Rare or Exotic items. Doing it this way makes me NOT want to buy gems, EVER.

I’ve been a level 80 Guardian for about a week now. Since starting at level 1, I’ve acquired over 65 Black Lion Chests but only gotten about 4-5 Black Lion Keys.

As it stands now I have 59 Black Lion Chests in my inventory and 0 keys. So it begs the question, why the hell are there so few Black Lion Keys dropped/rewarded? It’s not like there’s anything SUPER-AWESOME in these chests anyway, certainly not worth forking out 125 gems (currently 1gold 18 silver) for. Thus the rarity/expense of the keys versus the value of the rewards in the chests essentially makes the chests worthless. If there were actually valuable items in the chests then MAYBE it would make a little more sense, but as it stands it just makes me frustrated to the point where I feel like just destroying all of them for spite.

If I didn’t know better, I would think this is some kind of inside joke by the developers at the expense of the players .

Getting Desperate, can someone please help us?

My wife’s account is locked/blocked or disabled. This happened after she got an email that someone tried to login to her account from China. I told her to go change her password and she did. However, after changing her password, she could no longer get back in.

She went to restore her account only to find that it requires the Serial Code. We were mortified to find that while we still had the code for my copy, the code for disk was not in the box anymore. After turning our house inside out looking for it, we can only assume it was accidentally tossed in the recylce bin or trash after using it to get acclimated to the controls.

So we contacted ANet support and they said we had to have the code and to contact Amazon (the dealer we pruchased our two copies from) and get the code from them. So we called Amazon but they said they don’t have it. So we emailed ANet support informing them what Amazon said along with a copy of our receipt for TWO GW2 disks as well as details about the characters in the my wife’s account. But for some reason ANet support responded EXACTLY the same way as before: “Contact Amazon and get the Code”. It was as if they didn’t even read what we wrote to them… Regardless, we went ahead and called Amazon AGAIN insiting they must have the code because ANet says they do. Yet Amazon still still insists they don’t have the serial code. (Perhaps because we didn’t do the digital download and instead ordered the actual disks?)

We love GW2 and spend hundreds of hours playing it. I understand that ANet wants to stop Piracy and account hacking. And I like the fact that they let us know that someone tried to login from elsewhere. But I can’t believe there is no other other way for us to verify the account and regain access than the code. Surely there must be SOMETHING that can be done.

Can someone PLEASE help us?

Fort Trinity: Defend the gates still stalling, even in solo mode

Thanks. I followed the advice of some users who said to let the risen kill all the guards adn destroy the arrow cannons while staying around the perimiter of the green circle and fighting them one at a time. This worked.

So after trying to complete the “Battle or Fort Trinity” with my wife about 5 times only to get stalled at the “Defend the Front Gate” stage each time, I was able to complete the mission solo. However, when my wife attempted it, it stalled AGAIN. And she was playing SOLO. She’s a lvl 80 Norn Elementalist.

I know its a big game and it took years to develop etc., but it should still work and not COMPLETELY halt your progress like this. We’ve been trying to move past this for two weeks now. WOULD YOU PLEASE FIX IT?

Last Fort Trinity POI is not accessible even after Battle Completion

So I had to complete the Battle For Fort Trinity solo because in coop it hangs after the third wave of “Defend the front gate”… Fine, not ideal but at least I got by it. However, my understanding was that when the Battle of Fort Trinity is compeleted, the door to the last POI is opened. But it is not open. It is the last POI in the “Straights of Devastation” and I can’t get to it.
