I’m talking mostly about the incredible amount of lag generated by the masses of players. Skills are delayed by about a minute, you’re lucky if your autoattack works and moving is more or less out of the question. I understand that the servers are under a huge load, I don’t understand how anyone didn’t think of this earlier.
I remember how amazed I was when I first saw the Shatterer in a trailer/preview. I also remember how disappointed I was when I first did it myself. But back then it wasn’t half as bad as it is now. Right now you can’t even call it a fight anymore. You stand around for 5 minutes, hoping your skills go off and then loot a box, terrific.
Doesn’t anybody else see a problem with this? If the majority actually is ok with this, hurray then. Count yourself lucky.

… this doesn’t work.
If you’re unlucky, you get stuck in overflow. If you’re lucky, you get this. I’m not sure what to prefer. Either make dragon chests account bound or disable them for guests. Right now this feels like the Zhaitan fight, only in overworld.
I can deal with running dungeons over and over, but the new daily system is nuts. Mindless fetch quests that aren’t fun in any way as a requirement for the best gear ingame, fantastic idea really. Except it’s exactly the opposite of what was promised a few months ago.
Yes, I know I’m not forced to do them, no that is not a valid argument.
I’m afraid you’re imagining things, this does not happen for me. Same old idle animations as usual. Yes, my character looks left and right, but not because of where I put the camera.
Here’s a showreel of the voiceactor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByfNrRpc4nc
So apparently he can put some emotion into his lines. It’s still nothing amazing, but compared to what he delivered for GW2 it’s surprisingly good*.
*"good" in the loosest sense of the word
Are your criticisms mostly being leveled at the personal story and cinematic conversations, or also with the ambient scenes and events?
I’m baffled by how good the ambient banter is to this day, and how the personal story dialogue pales completely in direct comparison.
There never is a sense of urgency (I’m looking at you Trahearne), it is, with the exception of Asura dialogue, completely flat most of the time and never feels like there is emotion involved. It gets the job done, it’s not super terrible either (except for our beloved Mary Suehearne, but that is on a completely different level), but the ambient dialogue is still so much better that I can’t wrap my mind around it.
Supported, as always.
Also, my own thread on that matter again: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/audio/Combat-grunts-and-skill-related-voiceovers/first#post485267
By now I’m playing with sounds turned off completely, the squeaks and skill voiceovers are too much. It’s a shame, because aside from these things, sound design is superb.

There’s a spot in Frostgorge Sound where Arctodus respawn instantly, used by a buttload of botters. I reported them all by hand, but thought I’d report the location as well (which I am unsure of where/how to).
The waypoint in the minimap is “Twoloop Waypoint”
+1, same here.
I couldn’t care less about the retaliation changes, but for gods sake, don’t move the skills around. Yes, I know it’s tied to cooldowns, yes I get the idea behind that, but that doesn’t make it a good system if there’s no option to manually re-arrange the keys.
I would love to see this function too. Too bad all mods are forbidden by A-net (quote from the end of the link you posted).

When an entire beach of soldiers is wiped out, and you are the puny scholar left in charge against the impending doom of undead ships, you’d not stand there sounding bored, as if discussing the weather as you murmur, “To arms!” at a total deadpan tone.
You’d probably scream that in panic, or in a way to try and convince your fellows not all hope is yet lost. Flat isn’t the way. Less so for a scholar gone warlord – he’d be confused, possibly scared, perhaps immensely impressed or very courageous about having been given this task.
SueHearne as we know him at this point is none. He isn’t even properly stoic, he’s flat and lacks a distinct personality. The teacup on my desk would make as good a protagonist at this point; equal personality values.
Oh god, this a thousand times, thank you for putting it into words.
So, Borderlands 2 has this option, this is exactly what I need here as well. Tuned down frequency isn’t enough in my opinion.
I always would’ve preferred (and still do) to have the male version on my female character, because it looks much better in my opinion, but at least the skimpy option was consequent in being skimpy. Now it’s just an ugly hybrid.
Hi, it’s me again. You might remember me from threads such as “Human female combat grunts”, “Human female combat grunts” or “Human female combat grunts” from the past, where I posted them during the beta events.
While most of the recorded voice is absolutely fine, unfortunately there’s some that stands out, and not in a good way. It’s gotten to the point where I turn off GW2 sounds entirely, because otherwise I can’t play with my preferred weapon, and frankly that sucks.
I recorded them to illustrate my point, sorry for being so blunt in the video:
e: I have no idea why there’s so much blank space under the link, sorry.
Aside from being annoyingly high-pitched, they don’t sound like you’re swinging something heavy and they don’t sound like your character usually does at all. They’re completely off and out of place.
The hammer (mostly, there’s one skill that triggers them still) doesn’t have that problem, swords are fine, axes are fine and so are maces. This wouldn’t be such a problem if you could just turn them off, but they’re bound to the effects slider for some reason.
Aside from that, having to hear “Retreat!”, “For great justice!”, “I could outrun a centaur!”, or anything else related to a skill, unsurprisingly got annoying pretty fast.
Q: Is there any chance that the grunts could be changed or, if that’s not possible, have a checkbox/separate slider to turn them off entirely?
Thank you for reading and have a good one
(Also, pretty cool game Arenanet, I love it)
