Just tested it a few times with auto turned off. Still doesn’t affect cooldown.

staff 3 is ancestral grace. quick draw is 66% cool down reduction on first weapon skill used after weapon swap.

lb staff will be for healing backline zerks. you don’t go into the fray with staff. Unless it is small team stuff. Granted maybe full cleric might be able to? with sig of stone. protect me used on a pet behind the lines waiting invis with guard?.. use some stability. heal the mid and wisp back for more lb action? I don’t know we shall see.

Hunters call could pulse blind, I mean your face is covered by angry birds.
Or it could have a chance to proc another hunters call on nearby targets up to 3?

or simple scale better with power.

A lot of builds are open now. I am still using mine primarily because it is as close as I could get to my previous build. I roam and small group and a tiny bit of zerging.

I swap between sic-em, sig of stone, sig of wild, technobabble. Depending on what I see going on.

If you want normal looking armour. Choose Ascalonian but substitute the legs for vigil legs.

The Ascalonian leg armour is for riding…. so it really doesn’t make sense for foot soldiers.

That is why I said “is going to end up a staple” not is currently a staple. I don’t record so I don’t have any footage. Time will tell.

Also have the gems ready to go.

I find fighting players more rewarding then anything else in the game. The open map of wvw allows me to take advantage of more of them. My heart doesn’t race when I kill npcs. I love the fight win or lose. It’s another person I am interacting with and that makes the difference for me.

I think the ranger has a good use in wvw. Culling people that won’t adapt, look around, learn, or move away from walls. They are also killable, catchable and outplayable.

Most of the angry whispers I get are from players that defeat themselves, I just collect the bag.

I have found ranger to work fine in all game modes with various tweaks.
Check Metabattle for the common builds to give you ideas.

I disagree with fluffball. Ranger is going to end up a staple of gvg. It hard-counters thieves, mesmers, eles. You just have to find a ranger that is better then average and willing to go full glass sniper and make the proper choices.

I have mostly found ranger players niave. Not sure why possibly because they can afford to play the game while half paying attention. Which translates to WVW as them appearing to react slowly or make very bad positioning choices. Of course I know some exceptions.

I think it will be a merge with pet power. Like a necro DS. You press f2 you and pet merge into something else. You attain the HP of the pet and fight as the pet/hybrid until hp is gone. switch back to normal form resuming last hp pool.

I just want to turn into a pig and squeal while running away from people.

Greatsword could work. once you spec into it you can not swap. But when you hit the swap weapon button you change stances that flip your 5 attacks between them. One could be defensive the other offensive or mix it up. Could add traits to change what the stances do. Buy your katanas now thieves!

I was fully expecting a new trait to bring reveal via opponent back down to 4 sec or even 3.5. 6 seconds is a very long time.

IMO LB is one of the best weapon to use in wvw because of the stealth on a relatively shirt CD you can reset a fight very quickly. A beastmaster equip with a LB in the right hand is possiblyone of the strongest combination in the game.

I love using lb on my Ranger. I primarily use the stealth to re-position since it is not long enough to really reset. The closest you can get to a stealth reset is to switch to sword the split second you go stealth, leap backwards → lightning reflex leap → turn camera and sword leap again and you will become visible about midway through the 3rd leap. That is a lot of distance in three seconds.

My ranger is a sylvari. Kudzu worked so well I couldn’t resist!

Oh forgot to mention, glass ranger is already viable with a lot of attention to terrain, positioning and good team-mates. I run pure glass in dungeons and all pve content and it is a blast. 6 6 0 2 0

You will love it and probably never go back. Glass ranger is super fun and challenging. I have 1900+ hours on thief and switched to Ranger some months ago. I started with condi/tank and switched to pure glass. It’s best with a small team but you sure can roam on it as well just don’t expect to always win or escape. As with any Player vs Player game once you stop caring about dying all the fights are fun win or lose.

reveal does not stack but it can have it’s counter reset.
first ranger uses sic em. thief has 4 second of reveal, 2nd ranger uses it 1 second into reveal. Reveal is overwritten by 2nd sic em. so you can layer them but they do not stack.
Ten rangers hitting sic em at nearly the same time would only place a 4 second reveal on the target.

Or fix the shoot the bow along with arrows bug..

People who like to thief, keep going back because the playstyle is unique in the game. They will play through any nerf and keep going back to their favorite. Nerfs really only bugged me for a few days, then 2-5 hours post-nerf you are back to playing with similar results.

I have played thief in wvw mostly roaming for about 1800 hours. I started playing my ranger a few months ago not sure how many hours but more then 800. If thief does not get a few more options with its eventual balance then yes these reveal powers will be ridiculously overpowered at 6 seconds.

Possible future thief balance changes might include the ability to trait into less reveal time. Who knows, until every class has had this balance treatment we have no idea where thief will end up.

But as a long time thief player, I expect a lot of the QQ posts to get the obligatory learn to play responses for a while. From other thieves and from the rangers drinking the tears and lurking here in the thief forum.

Things thieves can do to survive through a reveal.

1. Pay attention and know when you are revealed. can’t stress this enough.
2. are you in melee? evade/teleport los
3. are you at range? evade/teleport los reflect
4. accept the fact you will not be able to troll as well as you could before when one
uplevel brings sic em or util goggles.
5. Consider building a bit of tough/vit if you keep getting wrecked.

As someone who enjoys both sides of this coin, I don’t plan to stop thieving with these new changes and look forward to the balance yet to come.

I run lb sword/warhorn because I like to buff with the warhorn so my lb crits more consistently. 6 6 0 2 is what I run as well and have for several weeks now. Have you swapped your ascended gear to the ranger yet? Like me you probably found your new main.

You should do some comparisons with 1 vs 2 on the longbow you might be surprised which one is higher dps in the same amount of time. What utilities are you running for wvw?

There you were with players that weren’t good, had nothing to do with the professions chosen.

Moral of the story: Get a regular fotm group and run with them.

GS Sword/horn or sword/dagger is a lot of fun and very viable with the traditional glass build. I would suggest you always run sic-em though to deal with thieves and mezmers.

You said lb glass was boring, why?

Maybe they just upped the duration of camouflage.

I can verify on the condi tank build in pvp krait runes are very affective.

Not sure if I really want the rest of the set or not.
