To be more specific, I mean on a Sylvari male with light armor. The hood by itself leads me to the conclusion that a Giraffe was… in the vicinity of the Tree at the time of my character’s conception. Because when you put it on, your character instantly has their neck grow another half foot in length. It looks silly.
To counter this, I decided to put on some thick shoulders. Scarf seems like the best go to, as it covers that extra length completely. However, Scarf itself suffers a similar issue, this time being that it pokes too far out. So now you need to go down to the chest piece next and find something a bit thick. That’s difficult to do in the light armor class.
The only one I could find that looked even remotely decent was Cabalist, however it’s certainly a less than stellar look what with the shirt appearing to be a few sizes too large. Can anyone help me out here? I’d love for this to work on my only Necro, as it seems like a fitting hood for that class, but nothing that I’ve found so far looks good.
lol
I saw you in EotM today, I don’t remeber if you was the commander or not…but I do remember your name@To stay on topic
My Thief,as you can see he is very generic, but I like him,he was my first character, also he is a good Thief,he is the White Knight of the thieves, and he does everything to protect his Commander,he even prefers to put Shadow Refuge on his commander and allies instead of on himself if a battle is imminent
Aye, today was my first time commanding. Was loads of fun, and definitely learned some things. My most important lesson was probably to stay the hell away from OG’s zerg. lol
the classiest of norns
You know what? I don’t think many people will argue against that. Definitely the classiest I’ve ever seen.
I’ve yet to see anyone else roll the dye’d flower look on a Sylvari. Makes me feel special. :P

Sorry for all the links, I’m not sure how to add multiple attachments, unfortunately.
Dunno why everyone hates it… I feel like I am the only person that actually likes it. : S
….
How am I supposed to enjoy that?
I even did the pre-event. ; _ ;
I’ve been known to lose out on “100% drops” before though. If anyone has played Dark Souls… Ya know Havel’s Ring? Didn’t get it.
This chest? Didn’t get it.
Anet, why do you hate me so much? : [
I’d go with tanshiniza’s build. It’s pretty solid and self explanatory. I don’t personally run it because my build is refined for my style of play — but I can say that his is very straight forward and you’ll have a very easy-going time in general play.
As for acquiring gear, dungeons can be fine. I don’t want to get into karma as that’s worth researching on your own. When I was new to the game and needed gear I google’d farm spots and just bought a cheap MF set to farm charged and corrupted lodestones. Really bland but it got the job done within a reasonable amount of time. I’m sure someone will post a much friendlier method of going about your gear than I did, but this is what I did because I could do it alone.
I am slighlty confused, however. In the second slot on the armors, it has “Divinity”. Is this some kind of rune or anything similar I can apply to equipment? Because I can’t find anything like it in the trading post.
I ask because I am about to start my little journey towards 400 weapon smithing. I’ve got quite a few picks, however I don’t know if it’s actually better to mine them yourself; for that matter I don’t even know where to mine.
Also, if you guys had any other tips for this little journey ‘o mine, I’d love to hear ‘em. I’ve only just recently hit 80, and still feel like the biggest nubcake on the planet. :P
So, I hit 80 on my sylvari guardian, but I’m still new. Pretty terrible as well. Plaing through HotW I get downed somewhat often.
Now, I’ve got , 30 in valor, 20 in honor, and 20 in virtues. With the way I’ve been performing I’m assuming this is terribad. However it may just be because I suck terribly.
It’s also probably fair to assume that my armor, although at 80, is also terrible. My toughness only reaches into the 1 thousands, and my defense only reaches into the 2 thousands.
Now, I’ve only got about 6 gold. So, I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on what equipment to get, what traits to follow through with, and just generally not how to be terrible at this game.

Ummm…. how do I fix this? We are supposedly on a “ship”, but I’m walking on water.
I’m asking because while I was crawling around some caves in The Iron Veil down in Timberline Falls I found one in a very secluded area; very “out of the way” kinduv area.
I killed him, but he only dropped a totem, but I’m hoping that’s not the only thing they drop.
Any help on this?
And Tybalt hit me right in the feels. ; _ ;
Why did this have to happen? We could have thrown in a random lionguard that no one cares about. Tybalt was my bud.
Hm, what a shame that things are so limited at this point in the game. However I will keep my hopes up, and thank you guys for replying and giving me more information, I appreciate it!
It would help if we knew what class you were so we could recommend specific pieces. There are a few less generic sets scattered around at lower levels, but the better light ones aren’t necessarily in the same places as the better heavy ones.
Ah wow, how’d I forget to post that? Apologies, my mistake. I am playing guardian since this is my first time around, and people said it’d probably be the easier class to play, and get the hang of things.
I ask because I am a level 25 walking planet, yet the coolest thing I have found so far is a malign long blade (2h) that came with some extra stats on it.
I never liked games that handed you all the sweetest stuff immediately, but with how long it took me to reach level 25, I feel like I should be working my way out of all these generic looking armor pieces, and whatnot. The 1 handed sword I use on one of my switches is still very, very generic looking.
Any tips on where to go or what to do? Any advice is appreciated.
Already did. They refused to acknowledge packet loss, and told me I needed new equipment, even though I have already found packet loss.
Here is my conversation so far with them.
Cyril: Hello Travis, Thank you for contacting Comcast Live Chat Support. My name is Cyril. Please give me one moment to review your information.
Travis: My Issue: Latency issues. Repeatedly in games, all animations become idle, and simply repeat. After it finally catches back up, all actions that took place within the time the animations were idle happen within the second it comes back.
Cyril: We are proud to offer the Comcast Customer Guarantee. I look forward to helping you today, Travis.
Travis: Ok
Cyril: Travis, that’s not good. I really do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I rely on my internet connection for my online communications myself, and I wouldn’t want any interruptions either. Rest assured you have reached the right department. I will do my best to resolve this issue for you, and I can also send a technician if necessary.
Travis: Well, I’ve been noticing this since about Saturday or Sunday. In games (Primarily Guild Wars 2,) All animations go idle, and I have to wait for everything to resume. This is a little frustrating, though bearable. However I’d like to do anything possible to fix it. I have some images from pingplotter that reported some packet loss if you would like to see them.
Cyril: My apologies, Travis. I can understand how that would be frustrating. I’m sure we can work together to get this fixed.
Cyril: Travis, I will be performing some remote troubleshooting on my end and will be asking you a series of questions to help guide us to a solution.
Cyril: Will that be fine ?
Travis: Yes.
Cyril: Thank you
Cyril: Travis, please take a minute to verify the physical connection for your cable modem… Step 1 – Make sure the COAX cable is securely connected from the wall to the back of your cable modem. Step 2 – The power cord should be connected to the back of the modem and plugged in. If connected to a power bar ensure the switch for the bar is in the ON position. If the outlet is on a switch, ensure the switch is on. Step 3 – The Ethernet cable that came with your modem should be connected to the cable modem and then to your PCs Ethernet connection. If you are using a router you will need to disconnect it for the troubleshootin process. Once online you can configure your router with the service."
Travis: 1 is good. 2 is good. 3 is good.
Cyril: Can you please run a speedtest : http://portland.speedtest.comcast.net/speedtest/index.html
Travis: http://stage.results.speedtest.comcast.net/result/199558722.png
Cyril: Your speed is within your internet subscription …you have the Silver subscription that should be at 6mbps download
Cyril: Travis, am going to perform a diagnostic check of your services & equipment. This “Health Check” verifies the current status of your equipment and your services. It should only take a minute or two for the results.
Cyril: In this case, you will temporarily lose our connection. Please do not close this window and the connection will re-establish. Once the lights on the device return to normal.
Travis: Ok.
Cyril: Thank you so much for your patience; please let me explain what I have found:
Cyril: I have accessed your modem and checked the signal levels being sent to and from the device on our network. I have conducted a series of PING tests to determine if data is being properly sent and received between your modem and our network.
Cyril: Current Device Status : (Online)
Cyril: Current CMTS Status : ACTIVE
Cyril: The results of the tests were very positive. They show that the signal levels are all within our anticipated range and there is no sign of packet loss or latency. Your modem indicates it is working properly at this time, and it has a great connection!
Cyril: But I notice one thing on your equipment.
Cyril: The Linksys WCG200.
Cyril: The status is " End of Life Status : Yes "
Travis: Ok, so what does the end of life status show exactly, I am not familiar with it? Also, I’ve got packet loss on multiple hops, all of which run through comcast’s ip.
Travis: http://i.imgur.com/rNpJK.png
Cyril: The equipment is no longer supported.
Travis: http://i.imgur.com/QFtkU.png
Cyril: You will have the option to buy your owned router
Cyril: XFINITY Internet customers will go online to http://www.comcast.com/routerpurchase and log in with their Comcast user ID and password for device and purchase details. They will click through to Netgear?s online site to complete the purchase. Netgear will manage ordering, payment processing & shipping. This is not a Comcast purchase and will not appear on the Comcast bill or customer account.
Travis: So I need to get new equipment?
Cyril: Yes
Well my issue has been occuring since around Saturday/Sunday. So I don’t think it is entirely related to that storm.
Yes, that is my ISP. Alright, so I guess I will give them a call then.
Umm, I can’t really tell which one of these is theirs or not.
And I also have This one that I took some time after the previous one.
Are you able to figure any of this out, or should I just call the isp and have them tell what is, and what is not theirs?
I’d rather not pay for a vpn… :/
Guess I gotta call ‘em. But just to clarify, all of these hops are within my ISP’s network right?
Alright, so I assume you mean the remote addresses, right? (Since the local results in round trips.)
I looked at the first one, and I have quite a few that will occasionally jump up to 50% package loss. Now what do I do?
Alright. But how do I get it to trace a game? For me it only asks for addresses.
In Pingplotter, do you just want the hops that have PL%?
I live in VA, so servers located in Texas shouldn’t be too much of a hastle. However it really just seems like it WANTS to give me issues.
What is checking the ping time gonna do for me? I know what ping is, but I just don’t see how this is gonna help me by checking it.
So basically… every other time I try to fight something, in the middle of the battle, everything goes to idle animations, I have no idea what is going on for that time, and then when everything finally resumes, all the damage that should have been dealt within that time suddenly gets stacked into that split second that it comes back, and either the enemy is dead, or I am dead.
I am sure you can get that this is annoying, never knowing what is going on simply because of such (what seems to be small but annoying,) an issue.
I have tried turning the router on/off, I have tried Razer game booster, I have tried turning on those TAP folders or whatever the heck they are called (I can’t remember,) for the MSMQ stuff in the regedit.
Basically, I am not sure what I can do to stop this. My frames run fine, typically between 50-60, dipping to around 45 if there is simply a buttload of stuff going on. So I don’t think graphics have anything to do with this, but I may be wrong. Can anyone offer some help here? There was someone who was trying to help me in game, but we couldn’t figure it out, so I was hoping someone on here could possibly figure it out.
I am usually open to either of them. I like the ele because it just seems so… flashy/good looking, it also seems relatively useful. I just don’t like it’s selection of weapons.
The guardian I know would be useful, however it seems too “classic” with the sword/shield and whatnot, so I feel as though I’d get bored after awhile. However I have yet to play the game so I can’t really say that for certain.
Alright, so then I am down to either Ele or Guardian…
I am (as per usual,) at a loss as to what I want to be. I’ve decided on Sylvari ( I like glowing in the dark,) but I am stuck between necromancer, elementalist, and guardian.
Can someone give me the ups and downs of each, and whether or not one stands out among the others?
