As stated on what someone said above….
Yes there is a big wall that 90% of players in PvP cannot overcome. There is WAY to many horrible necros out there, some of which actually think they are good (not sure why). I personally do not want the class to be easier to L2P. Necro’s are nasty. They are underrated due to the fact that most don’t know how to play correctly, power or condi. If the class gets easier to play and learn, PvP will be flooded with them. IMO a necro on a team needs an engi and a warrior so it can effectively peel. The 2 ele comp, while it provides great support in heals and condi clears for the necro, if kitten hits the fan, he is done. Nos has never really been focused that hard before and his teammates had no idea how to help him; because in reality, they couldn’t much. Necro is one of the most underestimated classes, but with the correct team comp and players knowing what they need to do for the necro, it can be devastating for the enemy.
Necro has the worst mobility and practically no escapes (unless worm). This requires the teamates to pay close attention and listen to the necro when they need help. You could be the best necro in the world by a long shot, but if your team can’t help you much due to comp or experience, you are completely screwed.
Had a Mesmer tell me I was horrible last night because we went 3v3 at mid and all 3 (ranger, theif, warrior) jumped on me and I died. He said I should have ran away after all 3 attacked me….. Ya and without worm how the hell am I suppose to do that. Not once did he use the curtain or knockback or anything to help me peel. I was just a sitting punching bag as I attempted to crawl off point while being stunned, imobed, crippled etc non stop. Without help from the ‘team’ (yes it’s a team effort), there isn’t always a way out when you only got 1 stun break.

It was pretty much word salad. All you really need to know is that they’re actually telling us stuff on February 13th.
An update on when the update will be. Cool……………..
Necros aren’t “bad” because they have bad dps.
Necros aren’t welcome in parties because they’re a selfish class, they don’t contribute to the party by anything. They don’t have any useful buffs and their utility is “meh” which makes them more of a solo class
Besides the fact a Necro can solo some of the hardest bosses in Fractals, I am sorry we need to bring something for you too. Since when does a kitten ton of damage not considered contributing? Lol. Let me bring another class that provides regen for everyone and does 75% less damage. You don’t need more regen (then we already provide & protection) when the crap dies 10 times faster. Countless stories of an entire party wiping on bosses and NEcro being the only one alive and continues to solo the last 75% of the bosses health while the rest lie on the floor. Maybe other classes need to build better and bring more buffs of their own. Necro’s aren’t the ones dying and definitely not the ones putting out low damage.

Well, I definitely see them allowing Revenant into sPvP…Would be no reason not to. The question I was hoping to get answered by a dev on whether the specializations will be in there. Yes there will be balance still with them (6 months after release?) but it will be chaotic. They release small balance changes and sometimes make something super OP or way under powered. They then have to fix that.
You are talking about 8 new specializations + Revenant + Rev specialization. Each of these has a whole entire new set of traits and skills. Pretty close to full blown classes. In that aspect they will be adding 10! new complete sets of traits & skills. To think it will be even close to balanced on launch is laughable. Balance is not the issue, we know it will be jacked and take a while to fix. Everyone is going to have to get used to a MEGA TON of new skills and animations to counter.
I think it will be fun and fresh for PvP. I am just wondering if it will be allowed in there too, and would be awesome IMO.
I am buying the expansion no matter what. I just think if they want to help PvP out, they will add more than just a new game mode and specializations will do just that.

Hot fixes and new builds happen all the time in all aspects of the game. They can’t project every minor detail to the community. LB’s don’t matter and we are in between seasons where they are testing and trying new things. Pretty sure they won’t do any detrimental changes the day before the new season to screw everyones MMR over.
In time, it all irons back out. So there is no real need to get cra cra over it. Just be patient and it will be back to normal long before it matters.
Conquest and Stronghold should be relegated to hotjoins as they are just casual PvP game modes that nobody cares about! And if you do care about them, well you can still play them!
He said it right here. This is if I can post this without getting a 3rd infraction for being reported by VeeWee again today……
Can’t push it into hotjoin. Also coordinating 5v5 is a hella lot more complicated then just coordinating with 1 person. 2v2 and conquest make no difference to the viewer. The skills are still the same and won’t be understood by people outside of the game. This is nothing like any other game and therefore cannot be compared to any other Esports. Every other game has big damage dealers and healers etc. Hard for people to watch full sustain & damage builds because they don’t understand it. It is not like anything else. 2v2, 3v3, 20v20 won’t change that. You want arenas? Fine ask for them, but don’t try to compare it to other games that are COMPLETELY different in the aspect of fighting. Fighting is all viewers want to see and is what interest them if they see ‘big’ event changes.
Oh look, Another post from him on the same exact subject. Whats different on this post from the last ones he has posted?
1: I think the other one had more exclamation marks.
2: I think the other one he actually tried to type like an 8 year old. Moving down in age I see.
3: The other ones have had diagrams and pop up books.
4: He may have talked in 3rd person more in his past posts about this. Hard to say.
Although adding in a 2v2 mode would be cool you could never push conquest into hotjoin only. That is childish thinking, but I guess that makes sense coming form you.
Also as stated, you cannot compare this to WoW Esports. That just makes no sense. Reason it’s not Esports is outside viewers have no idea what is going on. No ‘big’ shift in events in their eyes. To us, yes; but not to them.

First thoughts when I see a mesmer? I am going to rek ur kitt!
I play power necro so mesmers a very easy. Almost as easy as a thief. Only reason they aren’t is because they stun/ interrupt you more. Only give them about 5 extra seconds (max) than a thief but that isn’t saying much. Thieves only take 5 or less to take down (unless they run of course).
If I can imob/daze you…you dead unless you blink.
You say power necro is easiest? Then you aren’t playing against anyone good. Be all end all, if I have full DS you can blow every interupt and util you have and you will still die. Power necro average hit on mesmer with Life blast is 6-7k. I can throw those all day with full DS… If you don’t see me coming, you will be dead before you know what hit you as well. Thieves and Mesmers are #1 easiest targets for power necro. Only way you survive is to double zerk me with coordination.
That is my opinion Yes, Mesmer hurts a lot. But not hard enough. You let me free cast for even 2 seconds and you are dead. Gotta put me into defensive mode asap is your best option.
I almost never use DS on my Necro leveling up or in WvW. So I never found a way to use it with my build unless I was running away and needed an extra hit or two to get away.
(?°?°??? ???)
Yeh, That’s a table flip moment
Yep, definitely not a good idea.
Let’s hope so. They could take out 50% of necro skills and replace them lol. There is so many useless ones just sitting in there that no one uses. Could use some freshness.
Ya, that one is worded a hell of a lot better. Mah b
No harm done, once everybody knows how the system will work (when they post the in depth information in a few weeks) it’ll be a lot easier to explain without having to find obscure news sites with interviews!
You really botched my mojo lol. I was stoked looking forward to the possibility of just playing my regular character with new utils. Oh well, maybe the specialization will be werf. We will just have to wait and see. I hope when they release more info on specializations that it’s not just “this is what it’s called and these will be your new weapon choices”. I hope we will be able to look at the new skills and traits for each, but I doubt that.
Ya, that one is worded a hell of a lot better. Mah b
Wrong. He said you can put Druid skills on your bar as a ranger as long as you have the specialization unlocked.
http://www.pcgamer.com/guild-wars-2-heart-of-thorns-interview/#page-2
“And players can actually mix and match a little bit. If you are playing as a Druid you will be able to use a lot of the Ranger’s skills, and you can actually slot them in to make a lot of creative builds. But a Ranger can not use any of the stuff a Druid has unless they become a Druid.”
Sorry, I did check before I posted.
But a Ranger can not use any of the stuff a Druid has unless they become a Druid."
So once druid is unlocked…the ranger can use his skills ….u must read
putting druid util skills on your bar while you play ranger.
Just to clarify, you can’t use Druid skills as a Ranger. You need to be using the specialisation to slot in the skills and traits, and doing to will lock certain Ranger traits and skills.
Wrong. He said you can put Druid skills on your bar as a ranger as long as you have the specialization unlocked.
Basically, once you unlock the Druid (or any other specialization), you will have a whole new set of skills, traits and weapon(s?) available to you. You can go full bore Druid with all new stuff or you can mix and match. You will be able to play druid but put ranger skills in util slots or vice versa; putting druid util skills on your bar while you play ranger.
This will make for a TON of new build possibilities and should shake things up quit a bit. 8 new specializations (with full sets of new skills, traits and weapons), 1 new class + it’s specialization = 10 new “classes”(considering traits and skills, that’s the best way to describe it atm). That is a ton to balance into the game and there will definitely be some skills/ traits SUPER op at the start and some really lacking. Nerf/ balances should come quit frequently at first; to try to fix the issues.
So in a way, the new specializations are not only a whole new separate thing, but can just be an extension in the sense of getting all new skills available for each class to use.
Best example: Current beast master ranger with LB/ GS (full utils lined with spirits). Once he unlocks druid, he can switch out one of his spirits for a new druid skill on his bar; or go full Druid and place a spirit util on his bar.

Not sure if a Dev can answer this or not. I am not looking for details; only if class specializations will only be in PvE or will they cross into PvP? As in, can I rock a druid in sPvP?
If so, This will shakeup the meta world quit a bit.
