So, the first of the bloodstones has been destroyed.. what does that mean?
Well the bloodstones were originally made by the gods to limit the power of magic one could access (so you could only practice under one school at a time basically).
So I was wondering a few things….
1) Is Lazarus going to go after the other 4 bloodstones? I mean if he is a bad guy after all that would make sense and if he wasn’t a bad guy it would make sense to do it anyway as that will power him up and with 2 elder dragons on the move we will need all the help we can get.
2) Now that one of the Bloodstones is gone, will we be having more intermingling of magics? Possibly having new skills and more blurred lines between professions (Like when necros became tanks with reaper)
3) Will the Bloodstone’s destruction act as a beacon to the human gods who created them in the first place possibly bringing them back to the mortal realm?
Ok but why is it not a hostile creature? I’m invulnerable to damage…. so why make the creature non-hostile? It could attack me and I’m just invulnerable… but that isn’t what happens.
The dismissal of my argument seems to focus on the fact that A-Net wouldn’t make a thing like that hostile if your skill bar is locked… but if you are invulnerable than does that matter?
So I’m playing through LWS3 E2 a second time and I noticed something and jumped on here to check it out and no one has said anything about it yet.
During the quest that has you disguised as a Mursaat and you have to make your way into that purple room to activate the 4th beacon… I noticed something.
First… It says you are disguised to prevent being attacked by the defenses around the area set up by the Mursaat, HOWEVER when you enter the chamber, there is no Mursaat there. It’s basically empty aside from a little camp (which I assume was for one of the stone dwarves since there seems to be a dwarven emblem above the bed of two intercrossed hammers) some scratches on the floor (which I assume is from where the heavy stone dwarf was dragged through the door… which I assume is the Door of Komali… or I think that’s what it was called in GW1), and a non-hostile destoryer crab.
Let me repeat that last thing… As I am disguised as a Mursaat… there is a NON-HOSTILE DESTROYER CRAB that only becomes hostile once the disguise is removed. The Mursaat were not allies of the destroyers that we know of in GW1, nor is that what we are led to believe in GW2 based on what Lazarus said… unless they are, and he is in fact playing both sides.
Why else would a destroyer not be hostile to a character disguised as a mursaat unless Lazarus (the last remaining mursaat) struck up a deal with the dragon.
Lazarus is a smart one. He knows we took down a dragon and he isn’t near their power yet. He saw how weakened the pact was after the attack on Zhaitan and even moreso after the run-in with Mordremoth, but he knows he can’t kill the dragon himself and possibly can’t kill the Commander either after witnessing him take down his Jade Armor all by himself.
I think he is waiting until just after we have battled a dragon or two and then he will strike, absorbing the power of 3-4 dragons and eliminating the only real threat to his power now…. the Commander and his allies… and then he will be ready to move on the other two and MIGHT try to pick up a useful new ally/pet he can train and corrupt… the new born dragon (why else would he have come… not like he would have known the dragon was in danger).
Celestial Skins
Guild Wars 1 had some great skins, including the celestial set of skins. I’d love to see those in GW2https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Gallery_of_Celestial_weapons
I think they kinda used those for two legendary weapons already (the new axe and old long sword) already
Well we KNOW Saul is trustworthy as you could play as him in GW1 and get betrayed by the Mursaat who killed those loyal to him and kidnapped him (The Mursaat who were there specifically were Lazarus the Dire, Marica the Smug, and Optimus Caliph) and we never saw Saul again. Saul kind of invaded there and took their “Eye” for the White Mantle for the Test of Chosen (which later would result in blood sacrifices for the Mursaat) and at the time Saul was still loyal to the Mursaat… so I just kind of assume that the Mursaat do what they do when they conquer some place… infect it with Jade Armors and weird purple buildings
Bloodstones were always ways to gather power through sacrificing ones life or life force… that kind of smacks of necromancer to me
While I totally agree that my first idea is a LOT of work and therefore unlikely and my second idea is just a rehash of druid/revenant… I feel like now that the devs have data on how to balance things and how they work and how different concepts work with one class, they are going to take those concepts and apply them to the other classes to make new specializations. I mean I think it’s kind of unrealistic to have them come up with 9 game changing ideas for each profession that have never been done before with every expansion. I think what we are going to see is new combinations of mergers between other professions but seen through a new “lens” so to speak.
So they might take an idea that works for druid and revenanant (a skill that changes your 6-0 skills upon activation for a short time or until shut off) and say… “Hmmm I wonder what that might look like if and ele tried it” type of thing.

I think as far as skins go we need more:
Black Lion skins with effects: Time Keeper and Bloodstone were good as they had moving effects and are very nice but some of the others that were released recently have been very meh. When there is a weapon set I like I buy them… ALL of them.
Here are the good ones that I liked and why:
Bloodstone: Cool Effect and nice color combo, Black and Red is always a classic and the weapons had nice lines
Spectral: Nice use of the “ghost” motif and cool side effects. Coolest blue themed weapons released
Timekeeper: these were my favorite in a LONG while. Excellent movement, nice lines and particle effects… just cool
Balthazar: Kind of kitten weapons… nice molten core texture thing going on. This is probably my favorite pistol design
Dominator: Not the best… but nice color combo (unusual) and very nice lines
Here are some of my least favorites and why:
Improvised: All of them are ugly
Gallant/Cavalier/Embellished: I get that these are for players that want more realistic looking weapons with cleaner designs but we are playing a game with giant horned cats and flower people… come on. I grouped these together because I dislike them all for the same reason. Again… I get some people like them but do we REALLY need 3 sets for those people?
Tempest: The effect was cool but I don’t think the devs did enough with the wind element.
Dwayna’s: Gross color combo. Little variety in shape and look between weapons.
Dreamthistle: The effect is kinda cool I guess I just don’t think it is as cool as some of the others
Glittering: Are these supposed to be weapons for female characters? Their presence is insulting. Seriously though I could see how someone might like them but I have never seen a character with a theme to match them nor does the available armor really support one.
Soaring: These look like they were very rushed. They glow kinda… thats it.
Merciless: These were actually really cool looking weapons but just are kinda meh when i see them on a character
Plasma: Cool design… but yellow? Really?
Privateer: Whoever decided to make Account Bound Black Lion skins messed these up. The only chance they had was on the trading post. These weren’t that good looking and now… if you got them… guess what… you’re stuck with them. They are very plain… and account bound.
Here are ones I think you should bring back:
Fused Weapons: I know they were rewards but that are so amazing! Good animation, nice lines, cool colors
Mordrem Weapons: Wasn’t a huge fan when they came out but they are growing on me. One of the only cool unique orange/blue weapons with a decent animation
Phoenix Weapons: A kitteneesey but still nice from time to time.
Immortal Weapons, Torment Weapons and Chaos Weapons: I think these are everyone’s all time favorites. I also think they should be brought back every year on the anniversary of GW1 release for just 24 hours. I definitely think we should be able to buy the Immortal weapons out right.
UNRELATED to that I also think the gem store should go back to offering armor sets (not just the one peice costumes) so we can mix and match a bit more. The first thing I ever bought from the gem store was my Elementalists flame armor with the nice effect. I was hoping you guys would actually release good ones for each of the elements like in the original guild wars (fire, lightning, ice, earth).
I’d also like some more chaos effect armor. A Margonite outfit would also be cool to match with the torment weapons. I just really wish it could go back to being mix and match armor. I feel like then we get really cool combos and huge variety.
I feel like we DON’T need:
-Account Boosters
-Gathering Tools
-Minis
-Back Packs that don’t do anything or have any animations
-Mail Carriers
-Dye kits that are basically the same colors over and over (however dyes that let us put effects on our characters are MORE than welcome… iridescent die, or see-through dye, or a dye that mimics the blade effects of dawn, twilight, or eternity but on your armor for instance… if you came out with that I would MAKE you TAKE MY MONEY!!!)
-Seasonal Costumes. These have been released for years now… there are only so many seasons…. we get it… halloween is scary and winter is cold.
Ok so my idea isn’t as flushed out as some others, I don’t really specifically have an idea for all the skills but here is the basic idea behind the Void Mage
There are 4 Elements the normal Elementalist can use (we know them but for the sake of redundancy…) Fire, Water, Air, Earth.
A tempest has studied and been able to harness these four elements in new ways, to temporarily release more of their powers, or aid others on the field of battle.
However Guild Wars lore also speaks of another path, that of truth and secrets. A Void Mage is able to strip away the embodiment of these powers, their secrets, and get to their truth, all comes from and ends in the void. This is not like a necromancer or reaper which focuses on the once living, the Void Mage focuses on what never was but has infinite possibility to be, the Void itself.
Basically the big change would be a fifth element for a Void Mage… obviously… The Void.
Now I was thinking the Void Mage could act in one of two ways… not sure which would work best.
1) My original idea would be it would work just like a fifth element. When selected, Void would change your 5 weapon skills. The nice thing about this is it would allow for the Elementalist to possibly activate two specializations at once (Tempest and Void Mage) and the overload of Void would be a gravity sink, drawing all hostiles into the void around the caster for the remainder of the overload (not doing incredible damage but causing knockdown). Now I know currently you can only equipt a Specialization in the LAST slot meaning you likely will only be able to have one available at a time…. but it is my fantasy so I’ll have 2 if I wanna!
2) The other option which MAY run better would actually be a combo of the Druid, Reaper, and Revenent themes. The F5 key would not be another element but would allow the caster to channel the void, replacing your 6-0 skills with a set of skills from the void, which would be powerful AoE damage and status causing skills with a timer…. but the Void comes with a price. you have a certain amount of time you can use the void worry free (shown by a bar on your screen similar to skill casting but ticking down slower) but once the bar is up the Void must be appeased so it starts sucking your life force away, channel the void too long and it will take you. In order to deactivate the void you need to hit F5 again but if you do so AFTER the bar has been emptied not only will you loose life, you’ll also have skill cooldown applied once you stop channelling the void. The BEST void mages know how and WHEN to go into and out of the void.
In either case, in fitting with the lore, the Void Mage is one who steps through different planes of existence where the rules that govern the physical world and the magical world may not be the same. In order to defend himself through this journey the Void Mage relies heavily on his sword (or great-sword but I thought that MIGHT just be TOO many skills added to a single profession on TOP of the void skills).
The void mage can use the powers of the void to draw his enemies in or teleport to them, and then use his swirling and slashing sword (close range AoE damage and target tagging) to commit them back to nothingness
Target Tagging: The void mage could also (en lieu of powerful AoE skills from scenario 2) have a new skill type called target tagging. Upon channelling the void, the first 4 targets struck by attacks are tagged (until they die) and as long as they are within the Void Mages sphere of influence the void mage may teleport between them at will (using 4 of the skill keys… the 5th being a heal skill) so long as they still breath. In this way the Void Mage could even be jumping around a mob and instead of focusing on AoE skills as one normally would use, would tag a series of opponents with a spin attack, run off, and teleport from one to the other, killing them one at a time.
Anyway its kind of all over the place
I think Konig hit the nail on the head… I think he knows OF the PC but Lazarus doesn’t know who the PC is (doesn’t know what the PC looks like or where he is).
Also I think it would be VERY cool (unlikely but VERY cool) if we end up having to go to the Isles of Janthir in order to become ascended… here is why:
The Eye of Janthir was claimed by Saul D’Alessio for the White Mantle long ago. It was from Janthir because the people there were said to have “the gift of True Sight, the ability to see someone for who they really are”. Sounds to me a lot like Ascension. Would be interesting if we need to travel there to unlock a mastery or something after a quest line so that we become able to do the same and see the Mursaat… it would also open up a world completely unexplored in any of the other GW lore. Only problem is the Isles are currently over run by White Mantle and Mursaat… sounds a lot like how Bloodstone Fen is now though….
I’m always wondering where things are going to go in the Living World Seasons, and I don’t know about you but I always have crazy ideas I would like to see happen (even if the chances are very small). I’ve posted some but I’m really curious what kind of crazy twists other people are hoping happen this season
Here is one of my crazy ideas from another post but I’m really interested in those of others:
The dwarves having turned to stone to serve the great dwarf have not become the free loving hearty folk we have known. For years those dwarves battling the dragon have been chipping away at all parts of themselves that make them weaker, empathy, compassion, any semblance of a conscience… instead they have become much more like machines in their mindset. In their quest to stop Primordus they became more and more ruthless and calculating. They were unable to find a way to kill the dragon but they themselves were also rendered immortal. Having their hearts turned to stone they have but one purpose, preserve the land by eliminating all threats.
Killing Primordus would hardly accomplish this task, as there are still other elder dragons to deal with. With this in mind, the cold calculating dwarves have been unable to kill the Primordus, but they have been able to capture, and subdue him… for now. They are in the process of boring into the dragon’s own head to hollow out the portions of its brain that let it think and reason, turning it into little more than a tool of destruction the dwarves can use the eliminate other threats to the land.
Primordus’ minions are being called back to their master as Primordus attempts to struggle free using the last of his will to break the chains the dwarves have constructed that bind it and free the Dragon.
The Elder Dragon breaking free will mean the newly formed Dragon’s Watch will have to battle the dragon without the help of the now extinct dwarves… but aiding the dwarves will mean unleashing a heartless cold legion upon Tyria, now armed with the power of an Elder Dragon and possibly ready to identify the other races of tyria as threats to the land.
I call it…. Between Fire and Rock
It would be AMAZING if this happened:

I think this map has been fantastic. Wish it was bigger but that’s just because its so fun to be in. I’m wondering if Rotscale is still in Majesty’s Rest guarding the dead nobles or if he was somehow conscripted by Zhaitan at some point
Yes but I think the main thing that keeps us interested is the story (for me it is any way). Events that don’t have a clear tie in to the story are nice but not nearly as enthralling.
This probably could be considered lots of spoilers… so instead of just marking them and figuring out what is what I’m just going to flag the entire thing… and I have no idea how to make this work properly so here goes nothing…
I did the bandit events for a while thinking they were going to lead to something… and the best that it lead to are “white mantle are behind bandits” which really wasn’t satisfying because you could replace “white mantle” with any of the baddies from guild wars and that statement would make as much sense. It was especially odd because the white mantle are supposed to be religious fanatics who wouldn’t really associate themselves with bandits. Something along the lines of investigating odd graffiti, leading to evidence of investigations of blood sacrifice magic, leading to excavations of blood stone weapons (cues the release of the Black Lion skins), investigating kidnappings (the white mantle were known to kidnap people for sacrifices in GW1), maybe even having some prisoners steadily going missing from the dungeons only to realize that the shining blade have been infiltrated by members of the white mantle who have been spiriting them off as sacrifices and you have to lead a mission to go under cover and prevent the next kidnapping of prisoners and in the process you “befriend” Caudecus only to find out that he is orchestrating it and knew you were undercover the entire time, you are barely saved by Kas, Marjory, and Canach (on the countess’s orders), this leads to talking and receiving a letter from Taimi (who Kas and Marjory were just consulting with trying to get some of her newly acquired surveillance tech for the countess) so you go visit her, she then informs you there is something happening up north… go check it out, you get on the ship and need to stop by VB to pick up Rytlock who was studying some disturbances in the mists there (eventually you learn caused by Lazarus reactivating the bloodstones), then on your way there BOOM explosion, now everything plays out basically the same as it did in the game.
That seems to me to be a much better (and more consistent with the lore of GW1) series of events which would have actually included more clearly related mini-events. The ones we have now just seem either hastily put together (great i get to kill bandits… and then MORE bandits… oh and then REALLY POWERFUL BANDITS!!!!) or needlessly over stretched (go find these 5 probes… you have 30 minutes.. even though I will be here all week… try the veal.. but don’t worry if you finish and want to do something with the next 6 days you can do it again and get nothing for it other than the satisfaction of knowing you found 5 more probes of my seemingly endless supply) or seemingly unrelated (I am REALLY hoping the ley line anomalies fit in somewhere I am just worried it will be as loosely related as the bandit thing… like there is energy that is rebounding that for some reason didn’t rebound ever before… I actually think it would be amazing if Taimi’s next Golem somehow tapped into this idea like maybe a trapped ley line anomaly powers it and it becomes sentient BOOM new race)
BUT I digress and wonder off topic completely…. anyway… I think LWS3E2 will come out in 3-4 weeks whenever this current tremor event leads us to wherever it is it is leading us.
(edited by Quince.6037)
I appreciate it… I knew some of them linked to LWS1 I just didn’t know the others did too… so thanks!
Anyway aside from the voice actors dialog being unattainable I don’t really see any hard line deal breakers there (and since primarily the people who would be playing this would… I assume… never have played it the first time… having a different voice than the original wouldn’t really be a problem, as those who are like me never experienced the original in the first place to have a point of reference).
I mean it sounds like there were huge baddies that large amounts of players killed together…. ok I get how that might be a problem but in order to give us a taste of what it was like the experience doesn’t have to be 100% authentic. Again those of us who experienced 0% of it probably wouldn’t complain if we were even able to get it at all… just saying.
I mean a fractal where you get to fight the big dudes who drop the power cores would be cool, or something like that. I just feel that such a HUGE part of that season is lost to new players and players like me who just missed it and it seems like it was really cool.
Ok so the Dwarves are down there fighting Primodius…. so if he is coming up to play, are they coming too?
Either way, its too long wait. I mainly liked this game because of living world, particulary season 1 version with constant updates. Im not much of a pve person in general but i liked the living world and the current wait of living world is what will make this game even more casual where people take long months breaks because of no content. It will harm the game in the long run, because if people take too long breaks they might never come back.
Agreed… I’m a VERY casual player myself and LWS2 kept me coming back daily to finish up everything I could on all my characters on that release…. with just enough time to do it in a week and then hit the next episode
See I have no IDEA what LWS1 was like since unfortunately I didn’t get to really play ANY of it :/
I would even take a fractal where stuff dropped and gave me the flavor of those battles….
I understand they can’t bring Season 1 back the way Season 2 was brought back…. BUT I was actually thinking about GW1 and some of the fun features and one of them was a sort of mini-expansion that was released where you could play as one of 5 characters from legend. They played similar to dungeons where at the end you got a reward you could trade in for weapon skins.
I was just wondering if something like this was possible for Season 1. I know I would GLADLY pay to be able to play through it for a chance to get some of the items (even if they are account bound). I missed SOOOOO much those few months and I am sure I’m not the only one and I would just like the chance to earn some of those rewards… plus I think it would be a pretty cool feature.
Maybe you talk to an aspiring Asura who has been combining Rata Novan tech with some of the Scarlet hologram tech to make a VR construct of the events that transpired…. so you could replay them, and either earn rewards directly in the instance or collect bits of data you can trade in later to scientist research assistant for rewards (the halo or horns potion… the power cores needed for the spinal blades… etc).
Just a thought.
I didn’t think Sylvari die… I thought they were just brought back to the dream… so maybe he will be reborn.
