Its very underwhelming, it hasn’t changed yet so probably expect to it to stay the same as it is. Not every skill can be equally effective I guess.
As a new mesmer, if i want my phantasms to do more damage or be a phantasm and clone build should i spec for condi damage or power?
Thanks
Edit: and this is for open world pve
For PvE i’m allergic to Confusion. Mobs just don’t attack enough per second for confusion to be really good. Maybe some people won’t agree with me but Mesmer in PvE should always go for Power and not Condition damage.
Watch out, its not because the trait line give you power that its the best line for a Power build. You choose trait line for TRAIT and not for the stats. If you can have both then its great, but I will always choose good Trait with bad stats over good stats with bad trait.
For the Mesmer Phantasm Power :
- Domination : Not the best trait line. Most build use only 10 pts in that for Empowered Illusions.
- Dueling : A really good trait line because you have really good trait and stats from it. You can choose trait to boost your Mantra, your Sword and Pistols. But you will certainly want at lest 10 pts in there for Fury on your phantasm.
- Chaos : Its a defensive trait line, i don’t see much use for it.
- Inspiration : This trait line have defensive stats, and a couple of useful trait (but not all are powerful trait, only useful like Glamour CD reduction or Focus Reflect), but Minor trait are great, especially if you put 25 pts in this line. Some people like this line, other don’t.
- Illusions : This trait give you access to some powerful Phantasm trait like Phantasm Haste and Compounding Power and the minor trait Illusionit Celerity is always nice to have. Personally i like to have 20pts in that line, but don’t really care for more.
Thanks putting a description next to each traitline was really helpful! I actually got a good understanding now.
Only one thing kind of confuses me though, if I spec for power, will my phantasms hit harder? I thought only condition damage increases the damage of a memser’s phantasms?
Only played two classes, ele and memser, love them both!
Regarding mesmer, i mostly do open world pve and if I want my phantasms to do most of my damage should i spec for Condition Damage or Power?
And what traitline would most benefit them? Im guessing the power line if im speccing power and the condition line if I spec condition.
Thanks!!
Hey, no worries. Welcome to the elementalist class.
Regarding permavigor, put 10 points into the Arcana trait line and choose trait II, Renewing Stamina. This trait will give you 5 seconds of vigor every time you crit, with an internal cooldown of 5 seconds. You can stack permavigor by having a high enough crit chance to proc it consistently and/or having high boon duration, which will extend the duration of the procced vigor so it will keep stacking. I am able to achieve permavigor with +45% boon duration and 33% crit chance (not counting fury), but these are not absolute numbers.
As for permafury and permaswiftness, there are several ways you can achieve them. The first is to run a build with 30 points in Air Magic and at least 20 points in Arcana, choosing the traits Fresh Air (recharge Air Attunement on critical hits) and Elemental Attunement (gain a boon whenever you attune to a certain element). Elemental Attunement gives swiftness on attuning to air, the 5-point minor in Arcana gives fury upon attuning to any element, and Fresh Air will make it so that, with a high enough crit chance, you will be able to swap into Air Attunement constantly, stacking up fury and swiftness. You can also put ten points into Air Magic and choose Zephyr’s Boon, which grants swiftness and fury upon using aura skills, and stack them up that way. You can stack permafury (but not permaswiftness) by putting 30 points into Fire Magic and choosing Persisting Flames, which will give you and nearby allies fury whenever you use a blast finisher in a fire field.
In addition, you can gain a permanent +25% speed boost without swiftness by slotting Signet of Air, or using Superior Runes of the Traveler or Superior Runes of Speed. Both come at a price, though- you are giving up either your runeset or your utility slot.
Hope that helps!
WOW!!! I couldn’t have asked for a better more clear response than this. THANK YOU! You seriously helped me understand this so much better, thank you so much.
Noob elementalist question sorry
I dont understand the concept of perma vigor, i know it means to have permanent vigor but how is this even possible? And the same for perma fury? and perma swiftness?
I understand might stacking and all that, I just dont understand how to achieve these boons permanently
I like sylvari racial elite sumon the tree, she so strong and hit in area
Okay, that thing is HUGE! Wow lol,but aren’t racial skills designed to be inferior than professional skills in every single way?
Honestly, just out of curiosity, since I’m quite new to this game. I know there has to be a few classes with pretty great elites compared to others.
Just wondering since I just hit level 30 with my Guard.
Awesome thanks for the help guys.
I am not sure if this is the right forum so..
Should I go power or precision for my current level 22 Guardian using greatsword? I’m only solo PvE for right now and my crit chance is like 15%.
I don’t really have a build right now since I’m not doing any PvP or WvW.
I like the idea of healing off my greatsword attacks since right now I’m just a major solo PvE player.
If you want this, you get way way way better heals by going for Empowering Might and Altruistic Healing. Although if you’re solo you won’t get the full functionality out of it so it’d probably be better to use Monk’s Focus and add a meditation or two to your skill selection (I personally love Judge’s Intervention).
Thank you, this helped much.
Lol thanks for the quick reply.
So I’m not begging for any builds or anything but I just got this game and decided to take the liberty and make my own build for PvE.
Is the 30 point trait line in Zeal for “Zealous Blade” worth the 30 points? Or should I go a different route? I like the idea of healing off my greatsword attacks since right now I’m just a major solo PvE player.
I read around the forums and I keep seeing negative things about zeal, any ideas?
I’m making a PvE phantasm build and I’m not sure if I should go (just want opinions)
20/20/0/25/5 or 10/30/0/25/5
And won’t the clone on dodge trait delete my phantasms?
Also whats a mantra build? and what are opinions of Phantasm and Mantra builds in PvE?
(I am really new to this game so sorry for the questions)
I just got this game not too long ago and decided to roll a mesmer, and the game tells me that i get to chose my trait points at level 11. Can i reset these if i ever choose to? And what are good trait points to go into for mostly pve/dungeons.
I understand it all depends on my gametype and the traits are very different if i say went to pvp or WvW.
How do I use them?
I understand that arcane wave is a blast finisher, so if i use it with something that requires a blast finisher, i get a boon right?
I know its a stupid question but how do i tell if my spells are projectiles or blasts?
Got this game last week, rocking the elementalist and LOVING it
I was thinking about getting one but not sure. Do most people use them? Is it worth it so i can just bind my keystrokes to the mouse?
And i think this is the right topic
I’m really new and I was wondering if using arcane and water as my main traits is “viable” for PvE and eventually PvP.
I picked water too start off at and now that I’m level 5 I can chose skill traits based on healing of water and utility of arcane. I don’t want a super over powered build or anything just wondering if Arcane and Water are feasible together.
Also would staff or d/d be the best option or even scepter?
