i play thief a lot lately in pvp but also in wvw , but i could need some advice what build i should use ? i played actually all kind of builds i think except p/d cuz that just looks lame and boring
but played d/p the most ithink . anways do u guys mind sharing ur builds with me ? or wanna train thief with me ? that would be great
i main a mesmer but i play thief lately , anyways . for us mesmers its really no fun at all getting blind spammed to death or gettign wrecked by condi thieves . let stand that thieves have so many ways to tele port to their target or can dodge almost everything a mesmer throws at him. thats really unfair . do u guys think we like that ? getting wrecked while we couldnt do anything ? we surely dont

why do u complain about scepter change. its actually a good change , we mesmers finally get some buffs that were needed . scepter was useless before , such low damage , we needed to compensate it .

since when were mesmers good in 1 vs 1 , we get easily wrecked by condi players, thieves and meditation guards for example . judge intervention doesnt even have an animation so how can we avoid that ? u know what ? lets make the leap like judge intervention , then we talk
What’s the “counterplay” to flashing blade, judges intervention, infiltrators strike or steal? Compared to those skills, iLeap is still countered pretty easily. In fact, it’s the only skill mentioned that can be countered at all. The clone still can be killed, and the swap still has delay.
exactly this . i main a mesmer , and this is really a good buff that is neccessary.
You are not in a position to talk about high level PvE if most bosses you fight are walking around more than 20% of the fight. Stop Trying.

As for me, I’m just trying to help bring the right factors to the forefront.
I’m going to assume 14 stacks of torment are on the target at any given time, as this the the amount you can pull off with the specc I’ve put together
The 14 stacks on average last for 8s. For each second, 1 stack does 109 damage when the target isn’t moving.
109 × 14 = 1526 × 8 = 12,208
When the target is moving it does double that amount, so 24,416.
And this is not including might stacks, corruption stacks, or other on the spot damage boosts.In my mind, that’s pretty substantial for a single condition.
Also, just to clarify, I’m not saying that everyone is going to want condition Mesmers over DPS classes (because frankly that will never happen until anet changes dungeon ai mechanics). I’m just suggesting that this condition on the Scepter is great additional damage since it is rarely stacked by most players.

Mes is bottom tier and the most viable spec is hard countered by a lot of things in the meta, and none of these changes are likely to change that. 1v1’s shouldn’t be a problem unless you are completely outplayed, and even if you are you still get the cap.
exactly this , we mesmer are hard countered by so many classes/builds . like thieves , meditation guardians , condi engis condi rangers . mesmers really deserved these buffs
i dont know what u guys are complaining about , there is nothing wrong with the scepter buff , first of all scepter does very low damage so we needed something to compensate that .
that clone death trait doesnt need a nerf since those condis will be randomly chosen , u guys are qqing too much about mesmer buffs , mesmers were at the bottom of the classes , getting wrecked by thieves , warriors and meditation guardians and condi engis , u really think thats fun to play against mesmer, ? it sure isnt
i am maining a mesmer and i really have to say pu isnt op at all . all that qqing about a trait thats not op . so ridiculous .
before u will are going to say : ‘’ oh look another pu noob ’’ then i have to dissapoint u i play only shatter .
and come to think of it, what builds do we mesmers have left ? PU and shatter, since almost nobody plays condishatter or phantasm builds anymore
So far, I would like to say thanks to the previous PvP Balance Designer “Roy” because 70% of my warrior suggestion came true.
1. Adrenaline should considered a “use” while warrior missing the burst skills.
2. Cleansing Ire shouldn’t proc when warrior missing the burst skills while the adrenaline will be used.
3. Impale is overpowered, should find a way to make “Torment” fit a better position for a real condi damage spec, shouldn’t shine when players using pure power spec.I would say almost 100% of them came true, I’m looking forward for it. At least we all know that we cannot spend our burst skills anymore due to the reasonable punishment.
Next, I would like to talk about several changes that I’m considering with.
1. Greatsword changes.
– Greatsword, a powerful weapon in PvE, that never shine in PvP after “Quickness” nerf. Should not receive any kind of damage nerf.As a player that always been playing and trying to create some possibility builds for Greatsword, I would have to say that the only reason now to pick up Greatsword is its mobility. The only reliable damage source from Greatsword is “Whirlwind Attack”, which isn’t that reliable while other skills cannot do any big damage in high tier level PvP. Let me talk about Greatsword from its skills individually. (only from a PvP perspective)
1. Hundred Blade- This skill looks pretty strong from the description, but it’s actually very useless either in team fights, or in 1v1s. If you want to play with Greatsword in PvP, you must build yourself into Pure Berserker Spec in order to pull out its damage value. That means the build diversity for Greatsword is very small. This skills is only “a little bit useful” against people whoever trying to ress someone in downstates. Like I said its just “a little bit useful” because we all know that poison is the only thing that can counter plays the ress/ress utilities.
Conclusion: Hundred Blade shouldn’t receive any kind of nerf. Instead of nerfs, it should receive some loves like dmg increase or cast time decrease like you just did to the Rapid Fire on Ranger’s longbow.
2. Whirlwind Attack- The only skill on Greatsword that is quiet useful in team fights and 1v1s. Like I said in previous paragraph, the only reliable damage on this weapon while its not really reliable sometimes.
Conclusion: Whirlwind Attack should remain the same as now. This skill is reward/risk now and it’s in a good spot.
3. New Arcing Slice- The new version of Arcing Slice looks pretty good. The only unreasonable thing is it’s range is kind of small, it will hardly hit anything unless you are in a zerg or fighting on the point. So far this skill looks pretty awesome, but I cannot give any kind of comment before I actually try it out by myself.
2. Adrenaline Dismiss when players out of combat-
I actually like this change, but this change will impact skill players that always remember to build their adrenaline while they are still in combat. For me as an example, I always try to swap weapon to build my adrenaline while I was trying to rotate from A point to B point, which I believe many warriors don’t do. This change will impact some “smart plays” from players. It will also impact some skills such as “Signet of Fury”, “Healing Surge”. These skills are already not popular, and this changes will make these skills even more useless.From my perspective, if you are trying to balance classes from this kind of situation, as a sarcasm, I will suggest that you also need to dismiss Necromancer’s Life Force while out of combat.
So far that’s what I have on my note, I really appreciated your reading. Although my grammar sucks, my content is really worth reading from a balance perspective.

no the thing about necros is a really bad suggestion to be honest since the adrenaline bar fills way more faster then the DS bar of the necros . If they both had the same speed of filling up the bars then ye i would agree
all meta roamer builds can deal with thieves yes but how about mesmers then ? as long as i remember mesmers have a hard time versus thieves since they are hardcounters to mesmers
It is not really OP; however many thieves in wvw choose a certain build that involves spamming smoke fields and maintaining high stealth uptime. This precisely refers to mainly one build and it’s very annoying and not very fun to fight.
In say, PvP, stealth would not be OP because you can’t cap points in stealth.
Nerfing thief blindly would cause people to gravitate more to certain builds, not less.
You could argue that stealth allows them reset fights and avoid damage, but in the end I don’t see it any worse than warriors using stances and just negating everything you throw at them… and also being able to arbitrarily disengage.
In other to land those magnificent backstabs, a thief needs to spec into heavy damage and die if anything sneezes directly at them. And they have to be revealed to do any of this.
Like any other questionable mechanic in this game, the class is too reliant on it for survival at times, and thus it can seem broken when they use it, but then again they aren’t given that many other alternatives.
thieves are roamers not cappers so it kinda makes it op . if there is one enemy on a point , thief takes it down done .
so ye the stealth of the thieves is pretty op it just spammable ( i mainly play mesmer and lately thief)
since adrenaline will be unjustly nerfed, it is only fair to fix traits related to adrenaline so they work better.

i propose the following changes:
Regenerate health based on adrenaline level.
Adrenaline level 1 healing: 40 (0.02)
Adrenaline level 2 healing: 80 (0.04)
Adrenaline level 3 healing: 120 (0.06)
Interval: 1 smake it heal every second instead of every 3 seconds, and maybe finally the haters will finally stop claiming that adrenal health heals 400 health per second.
every 1 second 120 health or every 3 seconds 360 health. Whats the difference ??

The SB Choking Gas nerf is pretty ridiculous too, considering Mesmers can summon phantasms and clones without breaking stealth.
Maybe they will change that too when they talk about mesmer.
mesmers are already at the bottom dude , they sure need buffs . and come to think of it , that mesmers summons AI , so stealth shouldnt break , thief is attacking by him/herself so it kinda makes sense

maybe the three of us should meet ingame , some places worked with the staff retreat , but i am still not playing good with this build . like nxk said when i encounter a thief idont even last for a few seconds . since staff and gs are actually only ranged weapons and the thief pure close combat

well i play all sort of classes (depends on my mood) . anyways in my opinion i just think that the ‘’stealth time’’ of the thieves are just way too long . when i fight a thief most of the time its just stealth here , stealth there and keep doing that till i am dead . so most of the time i just walk away or i dont even fight back cuz i dont see the fun of it . in my opinion every class should have the same chances to win the fight , no matter what build . but ye thats me .
well in my opinion PU is not OP , since it only works in stealth and its not like thieves that we can spam stealth .
anyways i dont see the problem with those builds
probably ye . they promised us so many bug fixes , and we only got 1-2 i think what a joke
