Well I guess if this build doesn’t work anymore it doesn’t matter. This is 1 year old based on what I looked up.

All the wolves are good even the Hyena. Hyena can DPS stuff fast with his f2 buddy.

I like all the Drakes, I like all the cats, I like some bears, and I like wolves.

I also like spiders and the Devourers even though Devourers suck.

I also like the Shark.

I mean your pet magically curing you of conditions is pretty supernatural so it should probably be in Nature Magic, where as Wilderness Knowledge, Survival of the Fittest should be in you know. Wilderness Survival.

Just saying. They got them all backwards theme wise anyway.

I dunno, I play the pet class for the pets but then again it’s good there are options for people who hate them.

I’m way better at Sword and Dagger than I am at Greatsword. I’m not very good at Greatsword dueling honestly. Did I get the stats right on the gear? You said a mix of zerker and celestial but I wasn’t sure how much mix.

I’ve never used Healing Spring, is it any good and does it cure conditions for you or only “allies”? I was thinking with sword #2 the leap could be used for some healing and such plus the longbow could give me even more regen but literally the only heal I have ever used is Troll Unguent.

I meant this build. I have full Rabid Trinkets (Backpack, Rings, Amulet, Accessories) and weapons with full dire armor all exotic for that build fully runed and gemmed.

I also have fully deck out 100% berserkers (even an ascended chest piece) with two different long bows, one for PvE and one for EotM (and maybe WvW).

So in this way I am flexible. I just love condi builds because of how tanky they are and how much more complicated they feel to play. I do love the old read the wind sometimes too though

This is the other build I use. I do Sharpened Stones, Lightning Reflexes and Signet of Stone with Entangle and use Celestial Rune but it’s essentially unchanged.

I like the range on the Shortbow, and it shoots fast but I will try a melee sword and torch? What do you recommend for WvW and sPvP? I usually do Shortbow and Axe/Dagger for sPvP and the Shortbow with Axe/Torch for WvW.

Lately I’ve been doing much better against thieves. In PvP and WvW. I just really like how the Shortbow plays but I don’t mind trying anything.

I just want a well rounded build that can handle almost anything.

Yeah the issue is I usually end up sitting at “home” point to guard it from takers and often Thieves or Warriors roam “far” to steal the point and I always give up my point to them while my team is off elsewhere doing whatever it is they do.

I can beat pretty much anything else most of the time. I may lose to an especially good mesmer or Ele, but normally nothing but Thieves and Warriors give me issues and steal my point.

In WvW everything is new to me I don’t know any of the meta builds or even non meta builds for it. I just know trapper ranger is super fun!

I play an Asura Ranger. 90% of the time I play the Metabattle Condition Ranger (SB + A/D) in sPvP what with the celestial amulet and krait runes etc… With Sharpening Stones, Lightning Reflexes and Signet of Stone with Entangle.

In WvW I play the exact MetaBattle stealth trapper exactly as displayed on the website no changes.

I’ve only been playing for about 2 months, I was playing Engi but it seems no matter how hard I try I couldn’t get the hang of it, so I started messing around on my Ranger and fell in love.

I’ve been sPvP for around maybe a month and I am halfway through the purple bar to PvP level 50. I have finished farming and completed my full Dire Armor set (Inquest from CoE) with the Rabid everything else for WvW on Sunday and have been doing a bit of roaming ever since.

So here’s the problem: Warriors and Thieves. I just can’t seem to beat them.

Warriors just don’t drop no matter what I do. They have so many gap closers for constant in your face pressure it’s insane. I never seem to have enough energy or gap openers to keep them off my nuts.

Even with perfect dodge rolls, all the slows and immobis (Spider F2, auto attack, spike trap, bow #3, #4, #5, Axe #3 Dagger #4, 5 and actual energy dodge rolls) they just heal and heal and heal and stun and gap close and ride your face and can’t be shaken and the condis don’t even slow them down. They just sit at 10-15% HP and it’s like it the bar stops moving.

Thieves dance and bounce around and if they get low either run away or go invis for 40 years and reset then come out fresh.

I just don’t have the sustain to keep up with all the condi cleansing and healing and redo buttons these classes seem to have.

Any suggestions? I seem to do well vs thieves sometimes and even as Power cuz they’re so soft a #4, #5, #2 longbow combo can like one shot them if you catch them off guard but kitten me if warriors just don’t die no matter what.

Any weapon combos I should try?? A war horn maybe? I just don’t know what to do.

I notice you mentioned Dwayna for healing? I’m an Asura, so I don’t think I have access to that.

Sebrent! Thank you! I really can’t wait to play this build! I must also say I only am Tiger finisher rank in PvP right now and I have maybe 325 games played and only 53 on my Ranger. I have 209 on my Engineer but no matter what I did I was always pretty bad on my Engi. I have had great success as read the wind build and so I wanted to try some new ranger builds and I love pets so I thought beast master was a great tree

In WoW Beast Master from previous expansions really made your pet special increasing its tankiness and damage and everything so something like 40-60% of your damage was from your animal pal being a kitten. In addition they added in the Burning Crusade prepatch the ability to tame special/exotic pets that only Beast Master Hunters could use and no one else. When I play a pet class I like to go all in and make it about me and my pet.

I like the animal companion aspect of Hunter/Ranger most and even fighting melee side by side with my pet rather than some Legolas/Green Arrow Archer type thing.

If GW2 had mounts I would hope Rangers could mount their companions. battle buddy, companion, friend. Like Wolves are man’s best friend!

Edit: What about the Raven bird? I don’t believe Birds have an inherent bleed and Raven applies a blind, which can honestly make you even more tanky because your enemy will miss a lot from it. Just like to consider every option not just Hawk or Eagle for their lacerating slashes.

I will be honest, I come from World of Warcraft and I played a hunter there. I played Beast Master, as well as Demonology Warlock and an Enhancement Shaman. They all had a pretty similar playstyle of ALL IN BURST but “poor” sustained damage.

Essentially you set the enemy up and then caught them by surprise popping all major DPS cooldowns and nuking them in one go.

I was hoping to create a similar build here because I find bunker builds sort of boring. That’s why I like Read the Wind Metabattle build. I was hoping I could make a Read the Wind style bursty build where my pet did the burst.

I did find something called kittenasination which was pretty much what I was looking for, but again it’s sort of a suicide build because it has no Condi clear.

That said, nothing is more satisfying than a QZ+Sic ’Em+Rampage As One burst and watching people melt from the Jaguar.

Two of three Devourers have poison F2 skills and all 3 have a 10% chance to poison via their auto attack. So I guess Marsh Drake, Spiders and Devourers.

That said I realize my builds are bad but I wanted to find something more unique than relying on Metabattle.

This was my very first try at a build, which is probably why it’s so bad. I knew I wanted to be able to kite, and I figured my pet+conditions would whittle them down over time while I focused on keeping distance and conditions on them. The poison from Shortbow and Dagger off hand would keep their healing down.

Essentially my thought process was: constant pressure from pet and their conditions (applied through traits and F2 skills) plus my own condi pressure and really hurting their healing, and keeping myself safe by locking them down in place and keeping my distance.

I know Necro have 600-150 range usually running daggers or Axes for their builds with a Staff offhand, I knew a lot of guardians and warriors had melee weapons like hammers or maces or swords or Greatswords etc, I knew thieves run Dagger mainhand almost always, Engineers have shortish range on their rifles, so I figure I could outdistance most classes.

I chose the ranged pets initially hoping they would be less likely to get juked as they can sit back and just Attack from a range.

Basically: Keep them away and keep them on the defensive where they can’t hit me and constant pressure from pets that stay away from them and conditions so all they could do is sit still and die slowly.

I guess it doesn’t really work that way though.

Are both versions of my build really so bad? I was just trying to find a way to keep gap closing warriors and such off me which is why I went so heavy on the immobilizes.

Here’s a variant of the build which may be better overall.

I’ve been messing around with a build on the builder based around kiting, staying away from people via immobilizes and cripples and dodges and evades, stacking conditions and constant pressure from the pet.

I reasoned Ranged pets may not get fooled as bad as melee pets but I like cats like the Lynx for the big bleed, and Krytan Hound is like a melee spider.

Anyway I’ve been playing with the calculator a long time, and it’s not tested, but I was looking for feedback to see if I should even bring it into the game or if it fails even on paper first.

I was thinking either the quickness Beaster Master trait or the Health Regen trait. Also the build seems to be hard countered by Conditions as it has 0 removal but every build has a weakness right?

I’ve been trying all sorts of build. I love all of them, but I only have 140 PvP matches played and only about maybe 35 Engineet games played.

I love the Engineer class because it feels like the most diverse class with the most builds out of them all.

I’m trying to find the build that’s “right” for me. My very first game was Cele Rifle but the guy who explained it to me explained I had to do this one certain combo in a very certain way to do the most burst and considering I had never played the class before all the swapping kits and what not was a bit hard for me.

It was at this point I moved on to Turret engineer to learn on. It’s a super fun build! However it gets boring if nobody comes to your spot and if your allies need help or another point needs help it’s hard to move and assist!

I then began looking at all kinds of builds, some of them I’m decent at and some of them not so much.

I’ve tried Power HGH, Condi HGH, Zerker S/D, The Flame Turret Elixir Gun build, P/P and P/S condi, Double Kit Condi, Bomb Builds, pretty much all the builds.

Some like the Decap Build and Condi builds are very tanky but it takes so long to kill anyone usually the can disengage and run away or they survive so long a friend comes and then it’s 2v1 and I die.

Or say Zerker S/D or Power HGH I feel very vulnerable and while I can dish out crazy damage I can’t really take any and I don’t seem to be very good at kiting either so then I just die a lot even though sometimes I can just go crazy and nuke people.

Is there a middle build where you do pretty good damage that can 1v1 or even 2v1 quickly but also are sort of tanky? Not full defense bunker and not full glass canon and not semi defense slow offense but just sort of balanced or maybe 60% offense 40% defense but power based so it’s big hits and they die pretty quick?

What would be a decent beginner build that isn’t Turret so I can actually help team at a point or roam in SPVP (not WPVP) and take points or like fight at Trebuchete or defend an orb carrier?

Awesome! I want to learn every engineer build. I’m looking forward to trying flamethrower builds, HGH builds, more different turrets, pistol and shield builds, everything. So far this is my favorite class by far.

What does Zerker s/d mean? I tried Cele rifle as my very first engineer game on a level 2 Engi I made to see if I liked it, and it was hard so I didn’t like the build but I liked the class.

I got used to the class as a turret engineer but I had a friend who always wanted me at their side so then I picked up p/s condi and now I’m doing p/p condi. I think with more practice even I could like Cele rifle.

I haven’t found a build I don’t like yet really but I only have maybe 25 Engineer games played. I have only been playing for 5 weeks and my most played is my super tanky condi removing beast Necromancet which doesn’t require all this finger finesse kit swapping.

I am learning and I’ve found at least 4 builds I want to try even HGH!

How do you use the flame turret meta build build? What’s it for? Decapping? Holding point? Roaming with friends? Picking your nose waiting for someone to 1v1 you?

I got lucky and was able to make a “Spartacus Gladiator” style look of very little clothing on my male human warrior, but you’re right there’s no way to go shirtless open trench coat or anything else that you’ve probably seen in media that you’d want to emulate.

WoW also has this problem. Even if you wanted to play a loin cloth wearing Conan the Barbarian style guy you can’t. It’s a little unfair. I would love to make some cool looking guys with minimalist looks.

I’ll try a ticket, they can delete the chest from my wardrobe, I don’t care I don’t want the heavy arah chest. So I don’t mind a total swap and replacement.

I just don’t have any interest in Heavy Armor for Arah, only light. This is literally an awful feeling that just makes me want to quit playing. That excitement immediately crushed by a wrong choice…. smh.

Essentially I was doing PvP all weekend, finally got 40/40 PvP track for Arah and on my Necromancer assumed it would only give me light armor option.

I’m extremely upset to find I accidentally picked the Heavy Armor chest, because I thought it would by default give me only light armor for a choice based on the class I was.

Can I undo picking the heavy chest and trade it for a light armor chest?

I think a more passive playstyle will help me learn the fights better and once I understand when to dodge, when to projectile block, when to aegis, when to do such and so forth on a defensively/ supporting/healing built guardian then when I know the right spots to melee and such I’ll be able to transition to full Zerker great sword Guardian or something. And then I would have two totally different sets and builds for super versatility

Yes I really want to play a guardian and help my team with more than just raw DPS!

He’s a Sylvari and I’m an RPer and he’s part of the Nightmare Court. I see him as sort of a “Scarlet Crusader”.

I was using this build. It’s nice, but I would prefer to be a team player and play a healing/ supporting role and help people revive quickly and keep them protected since I usually don’t do very well as DPS. At least in melee, I do decently as my Necro and I like it, I just want to be more involved than a selfish spam 1 class :x

In addition; I run with guildies who don’t ever seem to be optimized for full Zerker rush and people who are typically as new to the dungeon as me, so we don’t know all the best super quick ways to run paths.

We wipe a lot, basically, and I want to help prevent wipes. Often times only 1 person knows the dungeon. I’ve never used LFG tool.

I was shown by a guildy how to farm Silverwaste Bandit Chest and events for the boxes and items which is a good way to farm, right ?

I only did it that one day though. I’ve been slowly whittling things down on my Necromancer, running around farming events to unlock traits. Next I was going to run some story modes to get more traits like Axe Training and a golden trait from doing story mode Arah.

I’ve also been PvPing with Arah rewards as a minion mancer and have been doing surprisingly well.

My only issue is feeling useless in dungeons sometimes . I was going to farm Orichalcum and Ancient Wood for some exotic armor.

So far I’m still a little overwhelmed by all the content to do!

I already have full scholar’s berserker gear. I would have trouble changing to a new full set of gear and runes and traits is what I mean.

I will try to get better on my warrior and I do enjoy my Necro! Too bad minion builds are bad in dungeons, fun for regular PvP though!

However my biggest barrier is how expensive crafting mats are! I have 438 armor smith and 439 weapon smith to make my own exotic so I could change gear types. In addition I don’t have many skill points so buying complete trait sets is difficult to adjust to new builds.

I put all of my resources into a single build and it turns out I can’t play it ! Haha

At least Necro death shroud works out alright ^^;

Warrior is mobile with great sword charge, great sword spinning forward attack, axe leap from F1, 1h Sword #2 and such however 1h Sword isn’t really used much I think.

I wish I were better at dodging because I adored my warrior leveling up outside questing!

Well I always enjoyed stuff like White Mage and Scholar in FF14 and all healers (Holy Pally, Resto Druid, Resto Shaman, Disc Priest, Mistwalker, etc…) in WoW. I even like support in games like Heroes of the Storm, League of Legends and DotA 2.

I guess this game just doesn’t have that though.

I am only level 2 FotM but my last Fractal was super fun time!

Well I’ve only been playing for a month and only done a total of 5 – 6 dungeon runs. However full glass canon super max DPS warrior is frustrating. I like Death Shroud Necro but it’s all a bit boring because it’s just auto attacking mostly.

Well. I got a level 80 Necromancer and a level 80 warrior and I have run a few dungeons, including Path 4 Arah and I can safely say I’m awful. I looked up the guides for the “best” DPS investing in full Zerker everything, full exotic gear all that.

I spend all my time on my kitten trying to revive myself or just using a bow as a warrior and running around never getting to use my great sword.

I think that since I never run LFG or pug and only go with friends and guildies I would be helping the group more by helping them rather than them wasting time getting my kitten up every 3 seconds.

To this end; is there any class that does support from a distance well? buffs, shields, heals, effective conditions that actually work on bosses? Negating damage or providing CC such as the Gorilla kite fight in Arah, or reviving downed/dead allies mid combat without having to press F?

I would like to provide a way to increase my allies DPS and keep them alive and protect them from damage like maybe a DISC Priest in WOW focusing in mitigation and healing and buffing.

Does this build exist in this game and what class/gear type would be good for it?
