EotM is based on color in their tier. For example, if Dragonbrand and Blackgate were both red they would be on the same team. But this is very random.
Hello!
I recently got a few friends into playing Gw2 and I really want to run some EotM and raids on reset night with them. Unfortunately, Blackgate is literally always full. I’ve tried at many different times of the day including 3 am on week days but there just doesn’t seem to be any way to do it. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Thank you!
yeah interesting mechanics are welcome, and dodging enemies would make weakness a more useful condition in dungeons if they made enemies actually use endurance to do it.
but then again i’m afraid that the new mechanics will just be something boring like agony where the only real counter is getting specific gear.
Dodging enemies specifically could also break the stacking meta that exists in dungeons. That would be exciting!
Mobs never resetting until dead would be another improvement for a hard mode. It’s a dungeon after all, not the open world.
That would be very similar to how WoW has it’s dungeons setup, and I think it fixes the speed run boss to boss skip, I think it would be an improvement.
I personally think that the downed state is actually a HUGE flaw of the game. I don’t know a single person that likes this. But it’s so heavily integrate into the game that it’s hard to remove. If they remove downed state, the zerker meta will be broken.
I only suggested it because the toxic alliance seem to be the only enemies with special mechanics.
I would love it if we were required to change our builds mid dungeon to compliment whatever boss we are fighting. Right now Arah p2 kind of has this with the running, fighting lupi, running, fighting the end boss. But this is not enough
Many people, including myself, feel that dungeons are too easy and the speed run style of skipping from boss to boss that is widely implemented is kind of bemindering most of the cool stuff you guys put in dungeons. In GW1 we had hard mode to spice up the game for us veterans that were looking for a challenge.
I think this would be a realistic addition since not very much needs to be done to make this exciting.
- Increase the loot for dungeons, maybe chance at ascended rings and exclusive skins (like high level fractals)
- Increase the level of all enemies to 80 and give them more mechanics that the toxic alliance has, such as dodging, downed state, etc
- Added Achievements and titles for more incentives.
This will also add a sort of “End game” that many people are missing from the PvE content (That is not grinding for a legendary)
I’ve been trying to organize gold/silver buddy blitz maps for a week now and I’ve run into this problem almost every single time. When i try to ferry in players to fill up the map i quickly get excessive messaging JUST FROM LFG POSTS. How is this spamming anyone even if that was my objective? After this happens there is some absurd 15 minute timeout until you can send messages again.
WTF

Are we going to get SAB returning shortly after?
Because lets be honest. This is the only living world update the majority of people enjoyed.
Actually, we have metrics on every LW release. While SAB was indeed successful in terms of participation, so were the other releases (Scarlet ones included). I understand that forum feedback can color perception on which releases were the most popular/best received/most enjoyed but opinions on this are largely anecdotal. Please keep that in mind.
Now to your question: will we see a return of SAB? That’s not for me to say, but if it were to come back, what would people like to see from it? Harder/easier content? New world? More/no Moto story?
Or would you like future LW releases to cover other topics? Share your thoughts, but please keep it constructive. Thanks.
I thought SAB was cute as a one time April fool’s joke. But i think it’s enough. The SAB parody is tacky and really takes away from the immersion in the world. The content is fun but the ascetic is very off putting. Could we perhaps implement this in a less cartoony fashion? Perhaps more like the fractal ascetic?
Overall don’t like SAB
This build gains nothing from having a focus. Especcially in PvE, dropping combo fields is and aoe healing is way better than random KD’s and dazes since like he said, there’s defiant everywhere. He actually explains at the end why half the focus abilities are bad. S/D is a much better fresh air build.

Has anyone here actually considered making a build around this skill? It seems like an awful idea to give up 2 offhand skills. I wonder why they needed this slot filler.
Is it just me or the focus just an awful weapon. Sure, obsidian armor is kinda cool but overall off-hand dagger seems to outshine the focus. It seems that the focus was meant to be tank/control based and the dagger was meant for dps. But Updraft, earthquake, and Freezing aura are some of the best control skills the sentimentalist has. I don’t think ele’s could ever really tank or out sustain in a fight due to their health pool, low armor, and the passive healing/condi removal isn’t better than other class have.
…
I am grateful for all the work being put into the game, but I am secretly wishing for more quality of life updates. More emotes, player housing for my trophies, more mini-games that do not require you to find a “mini-game representative” in Lion’s arch.
It’s disappointing to know THIS is replacing actual expansions that probably would have the meat and potato story we are all asking for.
…
And this is my main gripe. Content after content is pushed out, while some of the things that needed various amounts of polishing at release day is left ignored for as long as the playerbase allows. Bugs are still rampaging through chain events in Orr, skills are still being completely overlooked, traits get bugged when used together with something (seemingly) completely unrelated… Balance issues.
Most of the updates on skills and actual mechanic fixing is just fixing the tooltip so that it better reflects the actual effect!
And dont get me started on the amount of kitten the Roleplaying community had to take lately. Uninstanced Salma District closed off for no reason, still no guild housing in sight, still no interactive furniture (I just want to sit on a freaking chair), emotes are lacking, people load with their weapons drawn since culling is gone, we see emotes from a full district away from us(!)…
This could go on, but im starting to sound like im whining. “Quality over quantity” and “Polish before moving on to new stuff” is all im saying.
I completely agree with the “Quality over quantity” problem the new content has to offer. Somthing you have to keep in mind is that no other MMO has done this before. They don’t really know what they’re doing yet. Even a year into the process they are still learning how to do these content updates correctly. of course they are under pressure because now they promised us new content updates every 2 weeks which is insane! I would be very much okay with them cutting down the content updates and releasing more permanent stuff like southsun cove. I REALLY wished that zephyr sanctum was permanent, this has been my favorite area in all of gw2 so far. I would love to see some expansion on current story lines, and that people recognize that I freaking killed zhitan…
Nature’s voice bunker builds are strong with “Guard”. As far as search and rescue goes, with a bear traited for stability training, that’s actually really strong. Ressurection is an undervalued part of the meta right now. I’d say mercy rune ranger with healer’s celerity, compassion training, quickening zephyr, zephyr’s speed, spirit elite, trapper’s defense, and healing power stats is likely the best resurrector in gw2.
and how exactly do you rez without stability? u cant rez with SoW signet, and RaO has a long CD.
the best rezzers in the game are: Warbanner and Shadow Refuge. so u got the wrong prof bud.
Every profession should have a strong way to rez, and search and rescue is not one of them. I MIGHT use it in sPvP if it had like a 15 second cooldown. But it’s far off for that
I really hope they add some more impactful utility skills like the guardian/mesmer have. Wall of reflection, Sanctuary, Feedback, Null zone etc.
Lol look at all these cry babies. They’ve said maybe 3 paragraphs about ascended weapons. This sounds exactly like people trying to do math about the que times in Queen’s pavilion being 30+ minutes and crying about it. Wait and see what actually happens

You can double click on the gear to change its stats when the next patch comes.

I don’t know about you guys, but i have three characters with exotic MF gear transmuted to dungeon skins and gem store skins. What happens to this armor? will we be refunded or do we get to manually change the stats once?
There has probably been a thread about this before but, why are traps in the Percision/Crit Damage trait line? Is it just me or are traps meant for Condition damage? Why not move them to Marksmanship or Wilderness survival and move spotter, piercing arrows to the Skrimishing train line????
Preliminary starting place:
The Hydralisk Build (ranger zerging with crits / condi / healing)
70% crit chance with fury
1000 condition damage
800+ healing power
Traps / bleeds / stomps
If you want to be effective in zergs you are missing some key things here. Longbow is by far the ranger’s best weapon in WvW. Barrage is one of the best skills in the game and even if all you can do is go stealth, push people off cliffs, and barrage that’s all you really need to do in a zerg. These pets really? Wolf has always been an all star in every part of the game. If you want AoE damage at least go for the reef drake, but pets die so fast you don’t really want them in the middle of the fight. They are best for chasing down people and the Krytan Drake hound does this well. Personally, my pet choices are the Stalker and the Red moa since they actually help your team’s dps and don’t die because you’re not sending them in. Trying to play dps in WvW is a mistake with rangers because a percentage of our dps is in pets, which die immediately.
I could imagine that Search and Rescue and Guard are okay with casual players. It just doesn’t fit into any aspect of the game when you’re trying to min/max.
In dungeons you should just revive people yourself. The dps you lose from the 8 seconds of revival are partially made up by your pet still being in combat and by the utility skill you now have in QZ another trap, Spirit of Fire, etc.
In high level fractals is close to the same reasoning, with the addition here that your pet is dead most of the time so the skill doesn’t actually do anything. As far as I know no one wants supports in their group anyway.
In sPvP guard could be cute on some maps, but there really are better things you can do. Rangers excel at bunkering and now with the longbow update they can also do a bit of roaming. Ressurecting people is usually a split second matter and you would much rater be QZ rezing instead of Search and Rescue rezing. But you don’t get the chance to rez people that often due to stealthed, quickness, and stability stomps. Support classes were never good in constructed sPvP. But go have fun in hot joins by all means.
In WvW ranger fit very few roles already. If you look at a number of other WvW threads commanders ask what a ranger can bring to WvW and the answer was never Search and Rescue. In zerg fights you either win or lose and one extra rez will never make the difference here. In case the fight is close Spirits and traps are almost certainly going to have a bigger impact on the outcome of the battle. In small groups you really need the extra dps to take camps faster or fight other small groups.
Maybe if you’re trying out a joke build Guard and Search and Rescue are fine, but they fit nowhere in the meta and need to do a lot of work if they want to get in.
The support role that rangers can fill is strongly taken by a spirit ranger. No way regen + swiftness for your team can beat spirits. If this is a tank ranger build, why are you not using signets? Rangers tank the best through passive condi removal, regen, and tons of evades.
Did anyone really feel the burn when trying to get F2’s off in the crown pavilion? I had some huge frustrations between winning a fight and losing it just because of the responsiveness of the pet.
It’s painful to read all you people compare Necro pets to Ranger pets. Necro pets are Utility skills! How about we compare the death shroud to ranger pets? Necros have excellent control over this ability and can integrate it into their skill rotation or situation however they need. However, my moa just heals whenever the hell it wants to, typically at extremely inconvenient times.
You can’t possibly tell me you’ve used “Guard” or “Search and Rescue” in a build and had it work out for you.
