Come Anet give us a response, people are going nuts on the maps I am going to, everyone just standing around!!
The lack of content is killing the game. The only content that has come since November are raids, a large percentage of the player base just don’t do them. And are getting mad that Anet seem to be moving away from the core design philosophy of ‘Play your way’.
I think the devs should make SAB a stand alone game. Develop new levels and link our GW account to it so we can play with friends. And sell it for a small price. A know most would get it, if we thought it was being constantly developed.
You know something, if on April 1st they released all the new legendary weapons that was promised, it would do down in history as one for the greatest April Fool jokes of all time. I would go as far as saying it would make headlines around the world and have Guild Wars 2 talked about in the mainstream media.
Alas, I feel I am dreaming it could be this elaborate.
April fools day gag this year is a glider skin with Mike’s face on it. When you fly it leaves a trail of words saying “this is not half an expansion”.
Wow Shaman too, Anet need to put out a statement soon on how they are going to fix this half expansion Mike’s PR disaster.
Me and some guild members talking about this last night. A lot of people are in the four new zones farming the mats for the new legendary weps (myself included), however there is no point now! Very poor management of the game, yet this is Anet I expect nothing else.
They started giving infractions for nothing . You can infract all you like but you won’t hide the truth.
This is when you know the ship is sinking, now the rest of the playerbase is beginning to feel what it is like being a vocal/passionate wvwer.
A guild member got a 3 day forum ban, for just asking ‘Why not get the glider, outfit team to work on LS instead of Legendary team?’ he posted on our Guild Facebook page he is quitting the game, if he can can get a forum ban for something as trivial as that he doesn’t want to support Anet anymore. So I am not sure what the prerequisite for a ban is?
I would really and truly love for the people threatening to sue to actually do so. Pay 4-500 dollars or equivalent currencies per hour to get back if very very lucky the price you paid for the game. You would need to find an incompetent judge and somehow have the company not delay matters with contesting the verdict but heh, stranger things happen.
They could legally according to the contract you agreed to turn every character into pink fuzzy slippers and the goal of the game would be to find the perfect feet to fit on and you could get squat back.
That might happen in the US, but in the UK there is the ‘The Consumer Rights Act 2015’ that is a law passed by the UK Parliament, that is there to protect the consumer, we have very strict laws here when it comes to consumer rights. And this is a basic snap shot of what it states.
—————————————————————————————————————————————-
The Consumer Rights Act came into force on 1 October 2015 which meant from that date new consumer rights became law covering:
What should happen when goods are faulty;
What should happen when digital content is faulty;
[How services should match up to what has been agreed, and what should happen when they do not, or when they are not provided with reasonable care and skill;] This here applies to what Mike said.
Unfair terms in a contract;
What happens when a business is acting in a way which isn’t competitive;
Written notice for routine inspections by public enforcers, such as Trading Standards; and greater flexibility for public enforcers, such as Trading Standards, to respond to breaches of consumer law, such as seeking redress for consumers who have suffered harm.
Most of these changes were important updates to existing laws. But two new areas of law were also introduced.
For the first time rights on digital content have been set out in legislation. The Act gives consumers a clear right to the repair or replacement of faulty digital content, such as online film and games, music downloads and e-books. The law here had been unclear and this change has brought us up to date with how digital products have evolved.
There are now also new, clear rules for what should happen if a service is not provided with reasonable care and skill or as agreed.
[For example, the business that provided the service must bring it into line with what was agreed with the customer or, if this is not practical, must give some money back.] This also applies to what was announced by Mike.
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 stands alongside Regulations to create a greatly simplified body of consumer law. Taken together, they set out the basic rules which govern how consumers buy and businesses sell to them in the UK.

Personally I won’t take legal action, not worth the effort, I just will not buy anything again from Anet, but I have no doubt some will as it is UK law. I believe a simple gift of a few hundred gems to all that bought HoT would quell a lot of the anger.
Even if they some how manage to avoid legal consequences, for the dirtiest and most disreputable business practices I have ever seen in the gaming industry.
If you think they’re shady kittens and want to boycott them? Whatever. But this? “dirtiest and most disreputable business practices… in the gaming industry.”?
You are absolutely full of it.
ANet ballsed up. Everyone knows it. They admit it. There is no malice here, and nothing to even suggest any.
They never said that you can’t get your money back, and even if they did, any bank would happily process a chargeback for you.
Your brown nosing knows no end apparently. You aren’t getting a cookie for sucking up. You can bury your head in the sand or bend over…whatever. I won’t. You can try to ignore their track record up to this point…I won’t. There is no lack of publicly available information about their lack of trustworthiness…especially when it comes to all things HoT so far. The fact that they had to be pressured into refunds for hot pre-orders. The fact they had to be pressured into the inclusion of a free character slot option with the inclusion of a new playable class for the expansion. The fact that the primary advertisements for HoT were for content that they have decided to just cancel…6 months after selling us the product. The fact that they have said absolutely nothing about refunds or any form of compensation. These are adult issues. These are business issues. These are legal issues. These are respect for their customers issues. If you can’t understand that, then you need to stop posting. This type of concern isn’t isolated to just one industry. If I ran any type of business, and advertised a product indicating specific things would be included. You came into my store, read the advertisement, and purchased based on said advertisement. Then you went home and found out said advertised items were not in the box. You contacted me and I simply told you that I decided not to include them for whatever (irrelevant to you) excuses…and just stood there smiling at you…with no offer for compensation or refund…would you feel you had been treated with respect as a paying customer? We all know the answer is no…therefore you are absolutely full of it. It doesn’t matter if they came out and admitted it now. I could care less about transparency, this far after the fact, with no satisfactory action taken to resolve the grievance. This was a conclusion we were already coming to on our own…many forum posts about this already. Don’t make the mistake of thinking this was anything other than yet another PR recovery move. Yes, this was dirty and disreputable. You think they just realized this was a problem yesterday? You think they weren’t having these issues with the legendary weapon process prior to releasing HoT? You don’t remember the outcry on the forums due to lack of information on what would actually be included in HoT for the pre-order purchase price? That was the time when transparency was needed….not 6 months after they sold it to us. That is dirty and disreputable. As far as requesting a refund from our banks…what bank is going to refund an e-purchase from 6 months ago? Why should we even have to go that route to dispute it from our bank. You don’t speak for ANET or our banking institutions. If ANET is trustworthy…they would be offering us the refund…just like any other reputable company with a product recall.
Spot on, if this was a bricks and mortar outlet doing this type of thing, they would be sued into the ground.
Its like Ford selling a car then they say “don’t worry the engine is not finished yet, it will be delivered soon. Oh wait, we changed our mind, we are not giving you the engine now, we are investing our time into giving you nice new rims.” I am actually disturbed that some people are giving Anet a pass on this. They have actually broken consumer laws in the EU and lied to you, and basically some are saying that’s ok, I still love you!
This morning I was speaking to a friend of mine who here in the UK is a civil liberties barrister while he is no expert in this type of thing, he does state that the law in the UK has the ‘Consumer Rights Act 2015’ that basically states what Anet have done is illegal in the UK. And a claim can be made in a small claims court. So anyone in the UK that wants a refund you have a good case against Anet.
After today’s news from Mike, has anyone changed their mind about pre-ordering the next expansion when they are not delivering on what they promised?
After your your experiences with HoT (positive or negative) will you be pre-ordering the next expansion?
Anet messed up big time on this. Did they think that an open GW1 story was best resolved in a raid? only a very small percentage of their player based would get to play it. Over on reddit, the community is up-in-arms about it and the tone is not as civilized as the comments on here. But the general feel is WTF Anet?
It really makes you think about what is going on at Anet right now? Can they really be this out of touch with their core audience?
Myself and my small guild and others I have been talking to in map chat, are not interested in the raids and rewards that you get for completing them, but would like to experience the content just to go through the zone.
Is it possible that in the future there could be some sort of story mode, or easy version that you can run through in 5 man just for the experience of the zone?
Your not the only one who is sad. Go to the GW2 sub reddit and read the what people think of the latest gemstore update. It is almost as if the devs have been told that the game is crashing & burning and to milk the player base as much as they can. Anet it seems have lost their way!
As I hate underwater combat I would like the Sea Dragon to just disappear. Or failing that have the expansion on land with the dragon on some beach somewhere or we fighting him from ships at sea. NO UNDERWATER COMBAT!!
For the Revenant I would love ‘Eir Stegalkin’ as our new Legendary, with longbow as the new weapon and we could summon a mist wolf to fight by our side over 20sec of something.
The smaller events that just happen, that have no relation to the meta is what I am talking about.
Has Anet abandoned dynamic-events? There are none in HoT and this was one of the big selling points of GW2.
I am sure there was talk about an announcement coming on a Tuesday about what Anet plan on doing in GW2 for the next year. Is that announcement today? if so anyone know what time?
Thanks in advance
I was thinking about where they could go for the next expansion and I thought about two dragons.
When you go to Rata Novus , Taimi states that the Asura wanted to defeat Primordus. Why mention this specifically in the story if it was not important. And as Taimi is left at Rata Novus it is obvious that we will be returning there in the future.
As the HoT has been focusing on Glint’s who was a champion of Kralkatorrik and her egg, would it not have woken Kralkatorrik when the power of Mordremoth went into Glint’s egg?
Could it be possible that two dragons awake to fight each other to destroy/control Glint’s off spring?
It would make for an interested expansion if Tyria becomes the battle ground for two Dragon’s with the races seeing this as a chance to take down two dragons despite overwhelming odds to defeat two.
Dragonbrand and the depths of Tyria could become two new zones where a war takes place and the story could play out of several living world seasons.
Hi guys anyone know if there is a bug with sanctum scramble? I needed to earn silver to get a piece for Glint’s Bastion, after hours of trying, I get the silver achievement but nothing towards Glint’s Bastion anyone know what I did wrong?
I have been told that you can farm CoF to gain masteries exp. Is this classed as an exploit? has Anet given an official response on it? I don’t want to get a ban for leveling masteries as not interned.
…when the forum QQing is providing more entertainment than the game!
I played WoW for 5.5 years, I played it like a job and back then that’s what I wanted but that’s not what I want now. The thing that really drew me to GW2 was how casual friendly it was, all the huge grinds were totally optional (legendaries mostly) but I think HoT has completely missed the mark, it’s no longer the game it once was and that’s a shame.
This is pretty much my feeling. If I wanted grind, I would play WoW.
For the love of god you should WAIT. HoT is terrible and you will be wasting your money.
I agree 100%. Even if they fix the event most people now feel it is pointless and have moved on. Most of my guild have just gone back to do the dailys, PVP and dungeons and have said the whole event is meh.
Show me a link to the official announcement? It was done via reddit.
Extending it a week is not excessive when we do not know when the new patch will come out.
The gold sink, is a major issue for the new players.
There is no official statement saying they will increases the blooms.
First and foremost, release an official statement on your official forums!
Second, extend the event for a week.
Third, scrap the gold required for rewards.
And lastly give more blooms, as new players are not going to want to grind, grind, grind!
Will we be able to transfer a character to another account?

My friend has been watching me play the game since launch and asked could she have a go. So I let her create a character on my account and she started to play She is now at level 20 and wants to buy the game for her PC but doesn’t want to start her character again.
Is there a way I can transfer the character to a account she creates?
