They really need to up the vote to kick to 3 people. I had a similar issue during MF happen to me – noone down the whole run, quick, no issues, just kicked so the two guilded guys could get one of theirs in for the jetpack probably . Really soured my whole experience of running dungeons and using group finder for a while.
Probably not going to be able to get rid of people with the Elitist mentality that dungeons should “only take x minutes,” “one down, you’re out,” or “not optimum build not in my party.” But since I started doing dungeons again, I’ve realized that the group of people who are Elitist or kicking people for the rewards are a small group out of the whole population – it just stings a lot when it happens to you, esp. if it’s for no fault of yours.
Game just crashed again – black screen with stuck audio. Event viewer logged this:
Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHEkittengetInstance ISA "Win32Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace “//./root/CIMV2” because of error 0×80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
Thankfully it’s not a virus. – Here’s the solution as it relates to Windows 7. – http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-US;2545227
Thank you everyone!

After looking over error logs, I think the problem may be ATI Catalyst Control Center. I’m disabling this now and seeing if anything happens over the next few days.
Are we getting one? When? I’ve hardly run any. :/
I don’t think you’ll notice much of the nerfs in pve lvling. It’s probably gonna hurt spvp and wvw thieves more.
I hope so. SWTOR Operative nerfs made solo PvE almost impossible near endgame. :/
As someone who doesn’t like to play PvP, patch class nerfs drive me crazy. I understand nobody likes being one-shotted or feeling like they can’t do anything, but each class has its role, strengths, and weaknesses, and some classes are just better at surviving or killing than others. If you know how you like to or want to play, test out characters before you commit to one instead of complaining that other people have found ways to counter your play style. I’ve held out on making a Thief (I usually roll those first in MMOs) since they ALWAYS get nerfed first in almost every MMO. And with this patch coming up, I’m almost asking myself “Why bother?”
Here’s my thought. Since AN spent all this time giving you a “second character” to use for PvP, why not just apply the PvP nerfs to sPvP, and extend this idea to WvWvW? I feel a lot of the nerfs are a result of PvP forum QQ. The end result usually screws with light/medium armor classes in PVE since they need their high damage output to make up for low survivability.
I hardly ever hear, “Wow, we should really nerf that Thief. They helped kill that Dungeon boss way too fast.” or “Wouldn’t this Dungeon be better if our Guardian healed for less?”
Another (simpler) option could be to do away with different armor classes giving more/less defense. I’d be ok running through Orr as a Clothie with less power if I had the same defense as Heavy Armor.
I’m not saying all of the PvP or WvWvW complaints are invalid, just leave PvE alone – there already seems to be a system in place to separate the modes. Running through Orr or other Dungeons are a good enough level of challenge already. But if you have to nerf low defense classes’ damage output, at least bring our armor up to snuff so we can survive in PvE.
I’ve just come to learn to be aware of my surroundings more, including other players. I always assume if I see a guy running my way from somewhere solo that he’s pulling and I just run ahead of him until both mobs leash back.
Good people are hard to find in RL too.
Fastest way? Buy gems. Trade for gold.
Fastest and cheapest way? Learn the crafting, find the Orchalcium and Orrian Nodes, and buy what you don’t have (Gossamer/Non-Node Mats). You can probably do one piece a week if you really take your time.
(Supposedly) Faster/cheaper way – Run lots of dungeons with a group that doesn’t wipe.
Any way you go, it’s gonna cost a good amount of time or money. There are no real shortcuts in most of the game since AN is pretty quick to catch on to those. If there are any right now, people won’t post them on the forums so they can keep exploiting them.
Fairly recently bought a new PC after my old one failed. The older machine was out of date, so I wasn’t wondering too much why it was crashing. But on the newer one, I think I am getting the same errors. All drivers are up to date, Intel i5-2500k 3.4GB Quad Core, 16GB Ram, Radeon Graphics Card on the new machine.
Without looking at the errors yet, I have noticed that the probability of the game crashing is always significantly higher if I use Chrome on the same boot or start using Chrome while the game is running. I’m going to check my error logs later to see if there is a pattern, but for now that’s all I got.
tl;dr – Technically speaking from a hardware perspective, there does not seem to be any reason the game should crash as much as it does on my system. Also am frustrated when it occasionally goes to the AN screen that says how the game is “optimized” so it can’t be the program’s fault. Right…
“Close to dying.” And every other ailment yell. I know I got poisoned/frozen/burned/etc. Shut up.
Still miss “Beware! Sons of Svanir!” in Hoelbrek before they fixed it. Drove me up a wall lol.
“Beware! Sons of Svanir!” was my favorite in Hoelbrek before they fixed it.
Just a few thoughts:
I’m pretty sure AN has some trolls on staff (thankfully), so I think a few of these COULD be jokes. Not saying any of these are official by any means, but just thoughts.
“It’s done.” – There was an awful bug in Lich King in WoW on release where this would be said over and over again after a DK questline.
“Curse your eyes.” – Ever see Young Frankenstein?
“Return…” – Could also be programming jokes?
Rewarding people who spend more time actually playing through the game with the ability to farm faster? I think that helps the casual player a lot more than hinders them.
Many casual players (over time) complete a lot of the achievements and objectives in the game through the story mode alone. With that being said, going through the story or getting to 80 on my first toon with almost no magic find whatsoever, I did not have a problem getting greens, blues, or the occasional yellow, or not having enough money. Personally, after my first go-through, I would have appreciated a boost (if even smaller) applied to my magic find to make getting cash a little easier.
If it’s a question of people with max achievements getting an uber-boost to magic find, I don’t think it matters too much. The end-game players and gold farmers already dominate the markets, as the current economics require everyone to have money to make money off the auction house.
The only suggestions I would make to add on to this would be letting the Devs explain EXACTLY how Magic Find works with relation to affecting drop rates, etc. Also maybe tying this boost to a soulbound amulet or jewel so only one character per account could gain this bonus.
Can someone post a link to the build? Thanks.
As someone who never plays PvP, I would DEFINITELY start playing if they had smaller team sizes. 3v3 would probably be optimal, as the people I game with tend to normally be on in groups of 3-5 at maximum at any random time.
