Chocodile – Asuran Engineer
Chocodial – Asuran Thief
Her face doesn’t fit her persona.
You could effectively chop her head off and put it on a model and no one would notice.

It’s a shame that Arena Net is still intent upon keeping with their “once in a lifetime event” gimmick because this is one of the most creative things I’ve seen an MMO do, and to simply toss it out the window once the month is over is a waste of creative effort. It doesn’t even have any real ties to a specific season so it should be perfectly fine to keep it in as long as there’s an alternative to the random chest spawns.
Chocodial, thief at level 80
They’ve always been like that.
Like this, but less horrifying.
Wait, what?
How did you retrieve a model from the game?
Even in its garbled state that’s pretty impressive.
Alas, the Asura will all be destroyed by the Great Golem Uprising of 1997 AE, leaving Rata Sum in ruins, so enjoy your empire while it lasts, my dimunitive friends!
Don’t be silly bookah, there’s an off switch in the back.
Humans are boring and thus have a boring personal story, boring missions, godawful voice acting for female humans, and so on.
Asura actually have a remotely engaging personal story (at least until the stories start to merge), have good voice acting, and have awesome animations.
Still, that settles that question – the general consensus was that zojja’s ears are unique, you can’t access them.
But you totally can; those are the same ears my character has, their length is reduced right down to minimum, and the angle turned up so they look a little bit like cat ears. I have mine set up almost the same way
Wait what
Where do you get that hat
Probably using Golem as slaves, asura are ingenious and somewhat evil
Lets hope it won’t turn out like The Matrix
Golems don’t even have self-awareness. How can they be “slaves”?
You don’t consider your computer a slave, do you?
…it’s just a singing NPC. I’ve ran into quite a few of them. It’s not really anything special.
“Ranger pets are so OP, I always get wrecked by them in PvP.”
“I love Traherne, his character just has so much depth.”
“I’m making so much money off of my crafting profession right now.”
“Risen are my favorite enemy.”
I think it’s a little soon to start making references to a freshly killed franchise.
Killed? Has Capcom closed the Megaman franchise? That’s news to me, mostly because I haven’t followed the console game industry for years now.
Basically, Megaman Legends 3 has disappeared off the map and the last megaman announcement was a terrible iOS game called Megaman Xover where all you do it run right and shoot at things.
Megaman fans pretty much consider it dead by this point.
I can’t imagine how painful it must be to wear those skin tight hoodies. How do they hide those ears?!
They take them off and put them in their pocket.
Just like how the sylvari have detachable branches and mushroom heads.
It’s OK. We’ll dispatch M.O.X., a plucky, sympathetic golem prototype who was discovered sealed in an underground test chamber, to destroy the rebellious golems. Despite being more than 250 years old, M.O.X. is perfectly capable of standing up to today’s generation of golems due to possessing a unique capability to absorb and repurpose the powers of golems he destroys.
One by one, he will journey to their strongholds to challenge and defeat the rebellious golems, and upon defeating the last one, he’ll discover that Councilor Yahk is the one who has secretly corrupted all the rebellious golems, and then confront Yahk (who’s wearing a Super-Golem prototype suit) in a climatic showdown in the heart of the Crucible of Eternity!
(( I can’t believe ANet hasn’t made a sub-plot along these lines already! ))
I think it’s a little soon to start making references to a freshly killed franchise.
Asuran naming conventions are as such:
Asura do not use last names
Male asura have their names end with consonants
Female asura have their end with vowels
They also tend to be at the most 7 letters long and have some sort of sci-fi like feel to them like “Voxx”, “Zojja”, “Doola”,“Parnna”, etc.
If you just went by Lykos it would follow the lore.
I’ve seen it myself, but I always assumed that it was some weird effect from my constant 25% speed boost from one of the Thief signets that screws up the animations a bit.
Try another class. The elementalist isn’t as straight forward as other classes and it has quite a few balance issues to sort out.
In fact, the only mage class I’ve yet to see anyone complain about being too weak is the mesmer.
I’ve heard the “You’re dumb, you’ll die, and you’ll leave a dumb corpse.” battle cry on my female Asura thief multiple times.
What do you suppose is up with the writing on the buildings?
I’ve never seen writing on Asuran buildings, but I know that all the enviornmental text in the game is written in “New Krytan”, so you could probably translate it using the article on the wiki.
I consider myself as someone who approaches GW from an RPG point of view. I would not attempt to use these forums to have a conversation about role playing. There’s far better “walled gardens” out on the web for that. I have seen a few people attempt to start a conversation about character development as apposed to simple level gain… the response is usually along the lines of Go back to SecondLife
Here’s an example of what’s possible with just a dash of lore. Start a guild that is made up of only Asura Engineers. The role playing writes itself, we have all the tools. You can have geniuses, apprentices, and a group focus on crafting rare items (invention). Slap together a guild hosting site and you’re off and running. Occasionally you could party with a Human, Charr, Sylvari, and Norn for an adventure (better rounded group play), but ultimately you are loyal to your guild and it’s community and exclusivity.
You do realize that Asura Engineers break the lore due to them using Charr machinery, right?
In terms of the “roleplaying” part of RPG, GW2 doesn’t do much to help.
I disagree. We’ve got ah beautiful world, with deep lore, interestin’ races, wonderful atmosphere, an’ things happenin’ all around us; it’s a great world ta roleplay in. But yeah, if ya wanna story just for you, then ya gotta go out an’ make one. Get yer guild tagether an’ do events … say ya guys spend two weeks workin’ specific big events for each member if ya want. Ya still get ta rp in the mean time, but ya also get yer own personal attention … but that’s yer responsibility, the game shouldn’ have ta tell ya how ta rp – it just gives ya the place ta do it in. And GW2 has made one fine world ta tell yer stories in, if ya bother ta take advantage of it.
Why do you type like you’re speaking with a scottish accent?
It’s a forum for discussing the game, there’s no need to add any unneeded flavor to your text. Not to mention it just makes your posts harder to read.
I think you guys should get a few official RP servers. It kind of sucks for you seeing as how the only server with RP’ers is unofficial so you’d be doing your thing and then have the illusion broken by xXxNiGHTstEARxXXx dolled up in a bright pink GW2 T-shirt and baseball cap prowling around Lion’s Arch because he didn’t know Tarnished Coast was full of roleplayers.
The actual “role playing” part of the RPG genre got lost in translation somewhere so now it just means there’s some form of statistics that determine your effectiveness it combat.
Personally I’ve never tried RP’ing and I’m not entirely comfortable with doing so due to a lack of writing skill and far too much familiarity with game mechanics to get fully immersed in it.
According to the wiki, Rata Sum was the magical ruins of a previous civilization which the Asura modified for their own needs and used its general aesthetics as a guide for their own buildings.
As for the construction of new buildings, I assume they just use golems to carve them out of stone. Probably in a modular manner so that they can be assembled at the construction site.
I think I may have heard male grunting noises from my female Asura…
Why?
All an Asura only guild would do is unnecessarily limit possible guild members.Maybe effectively as a guild it would. For players, it can add flavour to a guild having members that have something in common.
We all happen to have a character that’s an Asura.
That’s not exactly much of a flavor for a guild when you have enough free character slots to have one of every race.
It means something naughty in Italian slang according to urban dictionary.
If something random gets blocked like that, it’s probably a slang word for something inappropriate in another language
From what I can tell, Asuran technological development isn’t as combat focused as the Charr, since the Charr went into their industrial revolution as a way to stay on the same level as humans after they abandoned deity worship entirely.
Not to mention that the Asura rely on their golems for physical labor and combat, so lorewise any Asura running about with conventional weaponry rather than using magic and golemancy would be an oddity.
Though I always found the way Asura in-game send golem messengers rather than using their “magitek” computer systems to send messages as odd. (I guess Anet felt the need to give the more curious players an NPC to follow to the next event location in an event chain.)
As for Asuran engineers utilizing Charr technology, it’s most likely a time-constraint issue since giving Asura proper weaponry for their race would be too time consuming due to the art design, modeling, animating, and coding necessary to give them an entirely separate variant simply for simple aesthetic reasons.
Why?
All an Asura only guild would do is unnecessarily limit possible guild members.
The risen wouldn’t even annoy me so much if they didn’t run so ridiculously fast.
I feel like Arena Net made them go supersonic just to screw with anyone using a low health build/profession by making it nearly impossible to kite them.
Here’s one of mine.
Asura
Thief
25% Passive Speed Boost (except it wouldn’t be active anyways since the clock tower disables all your skills…)
Any particular reason for this crashing the launcher even if I’m not running the game through Steam?
EDIT: Figured it out, ATI Tools causes it to crash if I have it on. :|

This thread should just be closed. It’s pointless as a PvP enthusiast to ask for anything like this. PvE players will come in and stomp over an idea that doesn’t even affect them in the slightest. Throwing in their opinions as fact as to why it wouldn’t work (DE’s broken… really?) :/
Let’s not forget insulting the majority of pvp players by claiming they’re just there to kill people not expecting it… (PvP server implies you’re going to be ganked.. so expect it.)
It’s hopeless really. Wish we could have an OWPvP server, but probably never going to happen. -.-
The problem isn’t that I don’t want a PvP server. (Hell, if I could have multiple characters on different servers I would try one out if it didn’t turn out to be as broken as I think it would be.)
The problem is that you’re asking for a PvE focused game to rewrite it’s entire design philosophy for a demographic of players they weren’t advertising to in the first place.Yes, Dynamic Events would be broken (I suppose this is only my opinion, but it’s founded on prior knowledge of how a free for all PvP server functions), yet so much more would have to be uprooted and mutilated or taken out entirely for a PvP environment to work.
Heart quests? Imagine getting one of the tasks that require you to pick up one of terrible weapon bundles with a single function meant for completing that task, with a pathetically weak attack as a second skill? You’re going to be at an obvious disadvantage if Johnny McStabsalot catches you with your pants down and starts wailing on you while you’re in the middle of some animation and trying to drop the bundle.
I suppose that kind of unfair conduct is expected in a PvP server, but then how are you going to level if doing heart quests and dynamic events are just asking for trouble? How are you going to grind up gold? Keep in mind that the current server transfer policy is entirely temporary, and at some point down the line we’re all going to be locked to servers, leaving you on an island where all the coconut trees are surrounded by legions of psychopaths wanting to carve you up like a thanksgiving turkey.
Guild Wars 2 is, in it’s very core, a “carebear” MMO as quite a few others advocating for open PvP have mentioned. It’s meant for casual play with a few modes like WvW and sPvP put out for those that occasionally feel the need for something more engaging. I highly doubt ArenaNet would be willing to put in the necessary resources to please you and everyone else who wants open world PvP when they weren’t targeting your demographic in the first place. I can only suggest that you and everyone else find a different game, as your $60 was evidently not well spent here.
I can answer that real quick in 1 word.
So?
…you didn’t read it did you?
TL;DR version: Open world PvP won’t work due to the game’s core design as a casual MMO which encourages spontaneous cooperation, and you won’t get Anet to change anything to fix this issue (because that costs too much money) so you might as well play a game that will appeal to hardcore PvPers.

Oh god. Not this again.
Let me begin by saying that I have nothing against open world PvP, it’s just that it will not work in Guild Wars 2.
Let me repeat that.
OPEN WORLD PVP IN GUILD WARS 2
WILL.
NOT.
WORK.
Dynamic events would be broken. Removing them would make leveling take unbelievably long. Keeping them would result in them being death traps where large groups of PKers gather to spam AoEs on top of each other while simultaneously attempting to actually complete the event.
From the very beginning of this game’s development after pre-production, it was built to have EVERYONE COOPERATE. The combat was developed with spontaneous cooperation in mind. The leveling experience was built with it in mind. The loot was made with it in mind. You cannot entirely flip this design philosophy around by flipping a switch to let people kill each other and expect it to be anything other than a horrible broken mess.
All I can suggest is that you find another MMO if you want a hardcore PvP experience because Guild Wars 2 is not for you. You have no obligation to stay and play because there is no subscription. You’re perfectly able to play WoW, Aion, Rift, or any other MMO that embraces the idea of open PvP whenever you want. You cannot expect Arena Net to even entertain the idea when the game’s entire design revolves around cooperation between players.
…did you make this just to make a reference to the presidential debate, or is this a serious suggestion?
So, this is mainly just a joke post. But here is a list of all the mobs in GW2 in order of difficulty.
1. Fire Elemental in Metrica Province.
2-1008571. Everything else
1008572. Zhaitan
I still remember the first day I got this game and ended an all-nighter fighting the fire elemental. Died dozens of times, lost my pants, and received absolutely no reward at the end.
Then I fought the Shatterer later, killed it without taking damage whatsoever, and got a few bits of subpar gear.
Yeah, I hate this too.
It was already irritating enough that my Asura main apparently uses inferior Charr weaponry rather than quality Asuran technology, now he suddenly starts sounding like a generic hero once I joined the Vigil (due to the Priory proving their incompetence during an introduction mission.)
I’m effectively finished with the personal story unless I end up needing some quick xp down the line.
I am not a big fan of traveling long distances when I don’t want to.
I occasionally stroll about to look at the scenery and pick up crafting materials, but this is very rare as of now since most of the time I have things I actually need to do. Unless I’m 100%’ing the zone I have no desire to run everywhere.
Not to mention I play multiple characters throughout the day and I’ve already gotten tired of seeing the same zones.
If waypoints were removed, I wouldn’t even feel like playing in the PvE environment due to the massive time sink caused simply by running everywhere.
Besides, I already get the “massive world” feeling from GW2 when initially discovering the waypoints in a zone and hunting down jumping puzzle locations, why try and force it down my throat by removing the convenience of waypoints?
People actually use town clothes? I never saw the point since you can’t wear them during combat.
Role players do, but there are not many in this game compared to most other “mmos”
…so only a few RP’ers use them, in a game which doesn’t even have an official RP server.
I have no idea why Anet put them in the game honestly.

I really wish the “BossMusic” playlist actually played. So far I’ve never been able to hear the music I put in there, despite fighting the Shatterer multiple times and other event/dungeon bosses.
I’ve been forced to put some of the music I intended for bosses into the regular combat playlist… Which doesn’t work very well when I’m listening to an epic score reminiscent of two titans fighting for control of the universe while I shoot low level wolves in the face.
Felicia Day causes me physical pain.
Which is a shame, since Zoijja is my favorite character at the moment.

I really need to stop going to Divinity’s Reach to craft before I begin to equate the laughter of children with (laugh).
