I think that what necros really lack is survivability (no, I’m not trying to be captain obvious).
We NEED some kind of defensive trait or mechanic (I’m praying that greatsword will give us some sort of block/reflect), but for the time being I think we deserve something.
My 3 ideas:
1) Master/Grandmaster trait that grants 1/2 stacks of stability upon using a spectral skill.
2) Spectral Wall also blocks projectiles. (This would put it on par with thief’s Smoke Screen).
3) Spectral Armor also reflects projectiles.
Necros can dish out good damage, but we’re no good to anyone if we have to think about keeping ourselves alive rather than killing enemies. Anet please give us some sort of survivability.
Thanks.
@The Gates Assassin: Props to you for this initiative.
If I were you I’d avoid T2 and go either T3/4/5. Definitely more possibilities for solo roamers.
Come to IoJ! What other servers call “solo roamers”, “duos”, or “small teams”, we call zergs. You won’t find smaller zergs anywhere else! Pop a tag and be your own zerg! What could be finer?
You’ve never played in T7 or T8, have you?
I hope we get some more people so we can actually have this tournament. Sounds quite fun and friendly.
Imo, a great way of starting is playing some WvW (assuming you come from PvE). In WvW you can finally start fighting things that don’t stand still (players, unlike npcs), while being in an open environment filled with other things to do besides fighting. Roam around with a small group (5-6 people would be ideal), get a feel for fights and for your class’s capabilities. Find and make a good build, and then maybe try PvP again.
Hate the 6 on vamp runes. God knows how many times it interrupted my heal or my counter burst. They’re pretty okay if you have a heal on short cd (see thief’s withdraw), but personally I wouldn’t take them over other runes, be it pack, strength or whatever.
My strategy against thief is to catch them as soon as they come out of stealth. I play power necro 60206, and I’m aware of my burst capabilities. Thief comes out of stealth → dark pact → well of suffering. If they port out using shadowstep, no big deal, you just made them use one of their best skills. In case they don’t, I go into DS, fear them and then start pounding them down. I generally save my DS 4 for when they go into stealth, so I can keep great pressure on them at all times.
I’m still trying to process the fact that a thread on the WvW forums is getting so much attention. We all like you Stephen! Keep up the good work.
It’s funny cause it’s been about 3-4 hours since wvw has been down, and they still haven’t fixed it, nor they have said a single word. GG
There is a fix for this problem (which apparently isn’t new) on this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/SELFSOLVED-problem-with-1-2-files-remaining
The relevant part is a post by Chris Cleary from ANet:
“If you are still having problems, try adding this to your GW2 Shortcut Target:
-assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80
If that doesn’t work, try
-assetsrv 151.249.90.138:80
You can do this by right clicking on your GW2 Shortcut and adding the above text to your Target field. For example your target should look like this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80"
I just tried the first listed fix and now both I and my wife are in and enjoying the new bugs.
I understand that you’re trying to help, but I’m not the developer. THEY ARE! And this if kitten stupid. They delayed this patch by almost a week, and what we get is an unpatchable game, or a very buggy one for those who managed to log on. 100% ridiculous.
I wish they fixed this stuff already, or at least let us know something.
UK, stuck at 99%. Although my gf lives 5 minutes away from me and she’s in game…
How about we just remove Skyhammer altogether?
I play on NA from the UK, my net is 100% crap but I don’t feel much lag. Despite what many people say, GW2 servers are quite good.
I play d/p thief on a fairly squishy build, but I do just fine against most opponents.
1. It’s not a matter of reducing the range, it’s a matter of fixing it. If it says that the range is 1500, why in the world does it hit up to almost 2000? It’s broken.
2. It is a noob tube. I have a power ranger at level 80 which I sometimes use in pvp and wvw. The build is cheesy and incredibly profitable. RF damage is plain ridiculous and it lets you stay at safe distance, while other professions with high burst (thief, mesmer) force you to take risks to get high rewards.
3. Entangle is quite annoying, but I wouldn’t change it. What needs to change is RF and the range needs to be fixed.
D/P thief is not dead. I play it and I wouldn’t give it up so easily.
Sure, some backstabs leave you with a (._.) expression on your face (4.5k backstabs on tanky wars/guards), but overall it’s still a very viable burst damage. Just gotta time it right.
I run a 26600 build. I use stealth on steal (which most people don’t use), which imo is VERY good for a couple reasons:
1 – you can get an easy backstab using basilisk venom → steal → backstab on petrified target
2 – it’s an additional stealth = some hp regen and all the other good things that come with being in stealth
3 – can help with stomps
4 – leaves you with FULL initiative after your first backstab burst
For my utilities I use SR, BP and either shadowstep or infiltrator’s signets. My heal is vanish in shadows. All of these things combined give me plenty of stealth options, so what I mostly use my initiative for, is simply blinding enemies. Even if it’s not as good as it used to be, pistol 5 is still great. Use it to its full potential.
Long live DP thief!
Game ended, but I and other people are still stuck in the game.
Can’t leave. If I switch toon, my new toon gets ported into the kitten match that ENDED.
Do something about this crap.
