Well if you’re fairly new to gw2 pvp then you’ll probably start out in a lower tier so either DH or necrosis should work fine for you. I’m right on the edge of platinum and there are still quite a few of each that I see
Looks to me like they’re trying to “save us inventory space” but it’s really just a gold sink. I for one think this is a bad decision because it’ll just irritate people.
With ignorant widespread changes like this (that includes quite a few classes) how many xpac purchases do you think they lost. The negative to positive responses is probably 90/10 for this “balance” AND scourge. If you hear something enough (complaints about this balance) then there is probably something to it. It won’t matter though since nobody from Anet will ever have an intelligent conversation about such changes. We will always get “here’s the changes….deal with it or don’t play” mentality
This is exactly as you think….screw you and buy the expansion
If Anet cared at all about their CUSTOMER’S opinion then we would see some kind of respond. In every profession forum there are people that have severe issues with this patch and they’ve yet to respond even once….they don’t care what we think. If they did then maybe they would act like adults and actually communicate.
Anet you need to consider balancing the game again before the expac. scourge at this point is just better at all roles than reaper.
1. Scourge has more health than reaper and they can heal themselves more.
– Since scourge is not in a shroud they can heal from transfusion. and assuming a scourge can keep up barrier on itself it has more health too.2. Scourge has more ways to survive.
– they have a portal. reaper on the other hand is a sitting duck even with their leap.3. Scourge has more dps potential.
– with scourge getting burning on torment and the sheer amount of torment on scourge it certainly seems like it will do more condi dps than reaper. reaper wasn’t even suppose to do condi.4. Scourge can actually help teammates.
– reaper is selfish and doesn’t do as much as scourge in terms of support.Anet I love your game and your classes but you failed to make reaper into a power spec and now scourge is just an upgrade. please consider making more suitable changes.

That is the point. Do not forget that the only Anet goal is to make money. So they are going to destroy each pre Path of Fire build in order to force ppl to buy the expansion to keep up.
Couldn’t have been said better. I understand they’re trying to promote the expansion because that’s what a business does but dismantling the vast majority of the builds for a complete class is an ignorant way to go about it
It really doesn’t matter what we suggest for fixes. If Anet really cared about our opinions/concerns then they would open the lines of communication within these posts yet they haven’t done this EVEN ONCE in any of the subforums….what does that tell you?? All they do is delete posts that mention the “balance” changes were done to move people into buying the expansion. It all comes down to maximizing profit and not caring about the player base
I’ve always found it quite sad that Anet doesn’t add to these discussions during a balance change. Not to defend themselves but to open up the lines of communication for such drastic changes. Nope….we get “Here ya go!”
Anet is preparing GW for the expansion. If you don’t buy the expansion then there’s no way that you’ll keep up. HoT anyone?
FYI the tier scaling changes are in for Shattered Observatory. If you were having trouble at 25, give it a go now and see if it feels much better.
Quick question: given that spectral grasp on necromancer is now 2x cooldown (50 seconds instead of 20 seconds) is there any recommended substitute for breakbar management?
Flesh golem does good break bar damage.
Well flesh golem will be nerfed next balance patch. It’s special skill will be to charge really fast and chew on the enemy ankles which will drop the breaker bar 0.25%
How Anet fixes it has been the same since the beginning. They buff 3/4 of the classes and nerf 1/4 then nerf 3/4 and buff 1/4. They close their eyes and throw at the dart board hoping for the best
This is a trait that needed to be baselined, not removed.
Okay, bringing the Cooldown reduction up to 20%? That’s good. Adding Vitality? Completely ignorable. Removing the decay reduction entirely from the game? I guess they don’t want Necros to be able to survive anything.
The issue with Vital Persistence wasn’t that it was “too good compared to the other options,” it was that it was too necessary to even consider the other options.
And Fear of Death is still godawful trash, so that didn’t change.
I could have lived with a nerf but removing this altogether was way over the top and killed an entire classes viability. Like i said if the motivation was to have players try scourge all you’ve done is sour me on the entire expansion with this ridiculously unnecessary and frankly not well thought out attempt to balance.
If there are any devs that even bother to read this forum anymore this needs to be addressed. Somebody has to see how out of whack this is, for heaven’s sake somebody at Anet has to care about this profession. The sad thing was i almost believed WP and his theory that power Necro’s may actually get some positive changes, man was he off the mark!
Oh and to those who think the additional health is compensation, please you have obviously never played a Necro as a main lol!
Couldn’t agree more! I took a break and came back because the expansion but nothing like Anet and their no thought nerf fest to make me not care again
It doesn’t matter because Anet will never come on here to explain why they made specific changes. “It’s our game so deal with it”.
For PVP, Warrior was already on the bottom tier so nowhere to go but up right?
