Couldn’t agree more about the changes to “Guard” being a nerf. Before the patch this ability allowed a player to utilize their pet in a variety of offensive ways that were surprising and quite punishing to enemy players when executed properly.

Now the ability is next to useless as “Guard” is essentially nothing more than suicide for a player’s pet in exchange for stacks of might. Because the cooldown for pet swapping is increased when a pet dies then swapped out, the might gained from this ability will never be worth the risk.

To be fair the previous low 15s-12s traited cooldown was overpowered as it allowed a ranger access to nearly perma swiftness, regeneration, and pet invisibility off of one low risk utility slot. So the increased cooldown from 15s-12s to 30s-24s traited was needed, however the new mechanics make “Guard” an option that is only feasible for pets with high vitality and toughness. Even then the ability is a rather inefficient use of a utility slot that again does not allow any synergy with the majority of pets.

I hope that anet will consider reverting the changes to “Guard” aside from the cooldown increase, or possibly adding the previous mechanics of pet location control and invisibility (with perhaps a reduction from 10s of pet stealth to 5s) to the new “Guard” mechanics.

There is a very simple solution that would not call for any kind of nerf to might stacking, which is not “OP” at all by the way. If any form of boon-stripping/stealing prioritized might after stability, there would be no reason to qq.

Of course this is really only needed against the popular x/x/x/6/6 Elementalist build, which can generate more boons than even a Necromancer can strip/steal.

Some would argue that shout Guadians are within the same realm of excessive boons. However due to the much longer cooldowns of Guardian virtues compared to Elementalist attunement swapping this is not true at all.

TL;DR Might stacking is not OP, boon removal however could be cleaned up to prioritize certain boons over others. Only in order to properly counter ONE (boring but nonetheless meta) build for ONE (fun as kitten) profession.

I am saying this even though I main an ele, so please no qq from ele’s who are happy with their boring PvP meta.

+1 for visibility.

Players could have been less obscene, however (and more importantly) said developer(game tester?) clearly did not need to troll said players. There are hopefully far more productive ways for a developer(game tester?) to voice their respective opinion than trolling random GvGs.

I would like to add that I think blaming guilds for creating/participating in a self styled “game mode”(GvGs) that allows FAR more build flexibility and open field combat than PVP is simply ridiculous.

Give the players a place to participate in GvGs and they will GLADLY leave the WvW queues. It would simply require the build flexibility and open field mapping of WvW.

ANET could probably even charge gems (while offering no form of reward or progression) and still find separate zoning for GvGs to be a successful “fix”.

Siege Trolls and Leagues

A fix to this could be imposing a restriction on siege placement being dropped on top of build sites before they are finished being built. Such a restriction could also have the added benefit of promoting more efficient siege placement drops. For instance instead of laying down 3 consecutive rams at a gate when there is not enough supply to build said rams, a commander (or anyone who drops siege) would now be forced to wait for each drop until the previous siege was built. At least this would apply to places such as chokes/gates where trolling is akittens “finest”.

Let me start of by saying that I am excited to experience/enjoy an increased level of competitiveness in WvW that should occur with the start of this new season. Props to anyone and everyone who has been working on this.

What strikes me as odd is that I have found no mention of account bound WvWxp being implemented during the season, and I think ArenaNet is missing a vital opportunity. Why must we continue to be punished (there is hardly another way to describe the “WvWxp farm” alts must endure, intended or not) for playing with more than 1 toon in WvW?

The idea for WvWxp to not be account bound at the the introduction of the system wasn’t a bad one as it was a VERY safe decision for a HUGE change in WvW. However given the positive feedback from the new wallet system (a giant leap in the right direction), why not simply allow WvWxp to be account bound? GW2 players love their alts and hate being at a clear disadvantage for investing time into them. While Liquid WvWxp was also a (small) step in the right direction, unfortunately it really does not help anyone who wishes to say put 115 ranks into the Defense Against Guards Mastery on their roaming alt (just an example). Cute but essentially irrelevant is how I would bluntly describe Liquid WxWxp in its current state. To put it simply, the start up of this WvW season seems to be the ideal time to introduce a hopefully simple fix, to an understandable precaution, that has ultimately had a detrimental impact on every player who wishes to utilize more than 1 of their toons in WvW.

I would love to hear support/opposition to the idea of WvW account bound xp being introduced at the start of the season. Personally I myself cannot think of any reason why WvWxp should continue to remain bound to each individual toon. I’m sure ArenaNet is BUSY working on this new season, but hopefully they can find the time to at least reconsider the concept of WvWxp being changed to account bound:)

There are 2 very simple fixes to stealth that do not nerf thieves into the ground.

1. Reduce increased stealth speed to 33%. As to why my thief can permanently (depends on build) run around at 50% I could not tell you, but It is game breaking (until this is fixed all your yaks are belong to me).

2. Reduce the amount of health regenerated from the final tier trait in shadow arts by 20%. A huge reduction is not needed as thieves are already the most squishy players in WvW.

However, having said that, there have been zergs I’ve seen in one matchup on EU that were the biggest I’ve seen in my life — easily 120 players in one big angry red blob, lol. Never saw that many at in one spot at once in NA, even with SoR and BG.

Ya that is a load of bull, even H.O.D., a lower tier sever from N.A., had 100+ man zergs running around during the lsst free transfer weekend. So I have no idea how you “never” saw one from SoR or BG.

I like the basic premise of the idea (allowing any class to hide in keeps and not just thieves/mesmers combinations). However, as described above I feel the “spy suit” would by O.P. to say the least.

Perhaps if it was 50 badges to purchase said suit and the disguise only lasted for 60 seconds? Implementing something like this suit could possibly force servers to preform valid sweeps (swimming around the bay moat once is not valid). Also it would probably take the ease off of the ever growing demand for a nerf to mez portals:)

( I am against a portal nerf for the record even though I do not play a mez).

I would recommend game recording software. Otherwise your word is simply “hearsay” to AreaNet and probably not worth their time investigating.

To be fair my fps is low and it may take a couple views of the 45-60s mark to determine that the ranger in question is clearly not moving at the same rate as other players (moving would be a kind word, “porting” is the one I have chosen to describe his movements).

The low fps may make it difficult to see at first, but I promise you those quick ports as he runs away are not my computer/internet lagging. Even others within this thread have reported seeing him do the exact same thing as I have described above.

I made no claims as to the cc “and other stuff”, although I did witness him jumping walls multiple times into sm on multiple days/occassions. Unfortunately at the time I had no recording software.

However everyone is entitled to their opinion and I have simply filled a “violations ticket” with AreaNet. Nothing to do but wait for a response now:)

So how do I bring this to AreaNet’s attention? If it is indeed a hack it should be relatively easy to locate the player and ban the account yes? While this would give me some satisfaction, what I really want is the simple knowledge of what he/she is doing, and how AreaNet is going to implement measures to prevent it from happening in the future.

25% movement speed signet and swiftness boon on the ranger…

Ya it may be hard to detect at first because of how the recording software drops my fps, but the ranger actually short ports about 200 range every 1 second or so. It is not a speed movement boost from abilites/boons, but a short port spammed over and over (at least that is my best guess).

Re-watch the video and you will clearly see him short porting away (not sure what to properly call the term, so forgive me in advance) as H.O.D. closes in on him.

No it is ranger from DH. I’m thinking it may be a glitch/exploit because after so many reports (supposedly our server H.O.D. has over 300 for him) AreaNet has done nothing. He is never on without the speed ….short port? exploit/hack (not sure what to call it) . However if it was a hack it should be easy to identify yes? Perhaps AreaNet is way understaffed or just does not care (assuming it is a hack and not a hard to detect/test glitch)?

Either way this player goes beyond the term “game breaking” in my opinion. The same ranger regularly jumps over keep walls etc….. I won’t be pretentious and act as if he is the reason H.O.D. is doing poorly this week, but nonetheless it is game breaking and the lack of response (of any kind) from AreaNet is disturbing to say the least.

Hearing that it is a rampant exploit and or hack happening in other servers makes me wonder why I should even play wvw (and thus guild wars as that is all I really do in game now).

Will I stop playing over a single game breaking player? Of course not, but if it is rampant, widely known, and goes unchecked then there will be no point in trying to compete ftw in WvWvW.

As the title says, I have a youtube video up with footage of the speed hack/abuse, not really sure how to get the video to anet’s attention. But after trying to “report” the player over a dozen times I must resort to other resources. Help me? The hack/abuse is most apparent from the 45-60 seconds mark within said video.
