no. but then again in dont play the stupid adventure box now.
if there was a monthly fee I would not play this game period. its wasn’t really worth the $50 to begin with.
everquest used to charge like $50 or$75 per character to transfer servers so i dont think anets prices are unreasonable at all.
2/25/13
still looking for people of all levels/timezones for wvw and pve.
would it be possible to adda waypoint option for a tower when your guild claims it. make it only available once the tower is fully upgraded and only members of the guild who claimed the tower can waypoint there.
If we’re talking wvwvw, is because warhorn is used for speed, until people realize you can use warhorn speed buff then swap to torch while you’re out of combat….
Usually run SB with axe/warhorn/torch then signet of the hunt while moving around, swapping to either flame trap or QZ defending on what i feel needs to be done.
Most people just dont realize they should be swapping weapons/skills between fights
having to swap weapons/skills between fights only shows horribly poor class design and is nothing to brag about.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i would much rather be able to choose dailies. visiting laurel merchant and crafting is just plain stupid for example.
lol instead of complaining because a guild wont change the rules to suit what you want why dont you join a guild that has rules you like.
i dont like any of them
they just need to get rid of ranger pets altogether. they will never be able to fix rangers as long as pets are part or the class. making rangers a pet class in wow was stupid, it was stupid in gw1, and its still stupid now.
no. gear check its just stupid. if people want to discriminate against other players because of the gear they wear they should not be given help in doing so.
it would be cool if you guys could add spyglass to the game so people could act as spotters for siege weapons such as cataputs and trebs.
will not click link but i do both pvp and pve, i enjoy pvp(open world not arena pvp tho) a bit more than pve tho.
i doubt it since the server is full.
its probably your server not the game.
no thanks. duel spec is not needed.
i dont care what they do with aoe as long as they do something. the constant aoe spam in wvw is stupid and takes a lot of fun out of pvp .
Then stop zerging, and look for small groups to travel with. Or look for ways to flank and create a concave, instead of massing up on an easily AoE’d choke point.
To a large degree, it’s a L2P issue. The fact that people STILL think that zerging a choke is a viable play style kind of tells me that AoE isn’t strong enough.
i wasnt aware that attacking a castle gate is zerging a choke point. if you dont drop the gate how else are you going to get into the castle to cap it. the fact that there can be nonstop aoe’s blocking a castle gate from only a few people inside the castle is pretty ridiculous and has nothing to do with learning to play.
Using catapults of course. Having everyone stand next to the castle gate and attack it is usually a bad idea. If you do insist on it, then you just all stand in the same spot and bam, aoe from players mitigated because of the 5 person cap.
i dont stand at a castle gate unless im operating a ram. catapults dont make it rain fireballs nonstop for 20 minutes, players do, and standing there watching it rain fireballs for 20 minutes nonstop from a few players is ridiculous. i play a class with aoe and it is ridiculous and need the cooldowns increased.
hahaha you think people with 2G’s computers run this game well in wvw? no matter how much your computer costs, the game has zero optimization so it runs like **** with everyone. increasing performance is great but something tells me it’ll be something like 3fps increase so hard to care or see a difference.
game runs great for me in pve and wvw(no lag at all). my comp only cost 900
That just shows how badly optimized the game is.
lol well 8gb ram and 2gb vid card is more than enough for this game, and neither are that expensive.
Except for the fact that the game uses your CPU more than your GPU and its very picky about which ones you have at that.
you can pick up an i-7 3770 pretty cheap, and they run the game fine.
Ok so I already have a pc that I spent a decent amount of money on to be able to run any game I want and now I have to buy another one just to play GW2?
I have a better idea how about Anet do there job and optimize the game.
well you dont need to buy a new pc to buy a new processor. guess what, having to upgrade your computer fairly frequently is part of pc gaming. always has been unless you spend a bunch of money and over build it to prepare for future games.
You obviously didn’t spec or build your own system.
just a processor upgrade requires a motherboard upgrade which generally requires a ram upgrade.
that’s pretty much “an entire new pc”, when the 2600k i7 is eminently overclockable and can play every other contemporary title at FPS high enough to require a cap.
your insistence that the 3770 works for you is specious at best ( i want to see gpuz, cpuz, and the game running 50+ fps in a shatterer zerg, or you’re full of it )
your insistence that everyone should throw bleeding-edge hardware at the problem (at an estimated cost of 700 dollars) because god forbid a large company newly-flushed with cash from a “game of the year” get some optimization into their engine is as ludicrous as saying:
“who cares if the prius you bought is getting 5 gallons a mile, clearly you should shell out more for gas you cheapskate!”
GATEWAY FX6860-UR21P RTn is the comp i have. i dont care what you believe, if you want to see it run go track one down and find out for yourself, i got better things to do than record videos for you, and im not gonna kitten up my comp with junk programs just to record ingame footage.

i get at least one dye ever other day it seems like.

Its a castle, its meant to require a COMBINED effort to get in. Besides, judging by your previous posts, you`re playing a thief. Most of the professions casting those “scary aoes” from the walls are dead meat once you meet them in the open field. There are classes better designed to deal with standing in an aoe and use a ram or whatever than you. Just to quote you it`s a “l2p issue”.
no i dont play a thief nor will i ever. the problem with aoe is their cooldown timers are too short. and i play a class with an aoe ability. care to make any more assumptions?

Hm…so AMD has some design issues with GW2? I got the 7970 bc it has great OC potential but I’m wondering why I only get 40-60 FPS? I don’t think I’ve been to a town yet, lol.
And dang Rikimeru, I want your setup. Do you seriously get 180 FPS? O-o
That’s quite unbelievable, considering your GPU is a lower model. Then again, you have a greater CPU.i get 80-100 outside of towns, not 180, the 180 fps was a post or two above mine(think that guy is running two vidcards).
Oops that explains it. Must’ve misread.
So yeah, he does say “2×680s” which is well, really good. I’m not surprised 2 680s will get you 180 FPS. >o>But still, you getting to 80-100 FPS is somewhat surprising with the reason I stated. Perhaps I need to OC to get more? :/
i dont oc. i just dont install any junk on my computer, i use it for games only. seems to run better that way. and my gpu is midrange, not low end, it scored pretty high on performance reviews compared to other midrange cards.
Hm… I don’t really install “junk” on my computer either. Also just to clarify, I didn’t call your GPU “low-end”, just lower than the 7970 in ranking. I know that your GPU is a high end GPU just like the 7970.
messengers, toolbars, web browser add-ons, winamp or other music players, etc. are all junk that will slow your system down.
i dont care what they do with aoe as long as they do something. the constant aoe spam in wvw is stupid and takes a lot of fun out of pvp .

I think this is an often overlooked factor. I keep my system lean and mean – no extra junk but a lot of people seem unable to resist clicking, confirming and downloading everything they can find and then wonder why their system runs so slow…
firefox is horrible for that. that web browser has tons of add-ons. another thing that can contribute to slowing down your computer is the stupid gaming keyboards they sell with the built in macro functions or whatever. i havent seen any setup in awhile but a few years back i had a friend buy one and it lagged the hell out of his computer. not sure if that still holds true today tho with the ungodly amounts of ram you can stuff into a computer.

OMG… if thief isn’t OP enough, you want Range too???? No freaking way! And, Scorpion wire should be reduce to 600, not 1200!
The most OP class in the game, having thread after thread of complaining it is, and still asking for even more…. oy!
Can hardly understand the grammer of that last sentence… but on a familiar note thieves arn’t OP, you just cry when they out perform you. Learn a profession before you call it out as “OP”. Thieves have no weapon at par in range with the other seven professions. [Cluster Bomb] simply does not cut, it is slow and unless you can time each small explosion to hit the same target it isn’t going to leave a scratch on anyone from a distance.
That 100 range may seem small but in WvW shooting at enemies on walls is very annoying to do, especially considering how squishy most thieves are. We deserve atleast 1000 range with a few weapon skills for one of the ranged weapons, or atleast a trait to allow this.
no they dont deserve any skills with 1000 range, they can already invis, run up to target and get 2-3 attacks in before the invis drops(due to culling or w/e), and since you cant target them when they are invis you are helpless against it. the fact that they can invis in the middle of combat so everyone loses target on them is over the top. it also seems like aoe’s dont hit them when they are invis either.
no they should not have 1200 range, they are already one of the most powerful classes in teh game, and can pretty much completely avoid death if they want to.
so you want to reward the cheaters?
gold buyers should be banned the same as gold sellers, becuase the buyers are breaking the rules just as much as the seller.
ya i agree i dont like the guns and other stuff like that, especially the pistols that can shoot like machine guns but look like flintlocks.

i have i-7 3770 processor, 8gb ram, 2gb raedon 7770 vid card, in towns my fps drops to about 60 on mostly ultra settings, run between 80-100 elsewhere. i use a 40 inch sony bravia 1080p for my computer monitor.
i personally dont think the game warrants any expenditures past the $60 purchase price. its a fun game and all and i like it, but its just not a top tier mmo in my opinion(and not really capable of becoming one with the way teh game was designed).
You guys know this thread is like 4 months old right? I’m surprised someone actually necro’d it.
But I think my issue was (when I posted this), I was leveling an alt.
When you level your first character, you are earning tons of achievement experience. Achievements that can only be earned once that give a nice hefty amount of experience.
My first play through, my experience was good. I leveled fine. But once I started leveling alts, it was going a lot slower than what I experienced on my main. From a few posts above, someone mentioned that you no longer get that achievement experience anymore when level an alt (cause obviously your main already got all the achievements). I believe that is why I feel under leveled all the time. Plus counting the time (late night hours) that I play in, it is hard to find events, much less players on at the time to do events with.
But like I said in my OP, I still dislike the fact that we are expected to do everything in order to get enough experience to move to the next zone. So if you are not fond of something, you have to do it any ways or else you miss out on a large chunk of experience. I wish experience was equal all around so for those things you dislike doing, you don’t have to do them in order to make enough experience to progress on.
But again, this thread is 4 months old guys. Things have changed a bit since then.
the trick with that seems to be leave a lot of the areas unexplored on your main(that are not needed for the story) and complete them on your alts. following the story takes you to only a fraction of the areas from what i have seen.
Personally, I feel the xp gain is not enough. Everywhere I go, I am always underleveled. When I first left Queensdale, I was level 12. When I finished Kessex, I was level 20. I had to go back and do lower level content in order to get enough xp to continue on to the higher level areas.
This is after doing 100% map completion, working on crafting a bit, collecting every material I come across, doing my Personal Story when I can, even doing every Dynamic Event that spawned near me while I was out and about. Yet I wasn’t making barely enough xp to move onto the next area.
The issue I think is, nothing rewards sufficient amount of xp to progress. You are expected to do everything in order to progress. Otherwise you will always be underleveled if you miss anything. You are forced to be an explorer whether you like it or not, and forced into crafting for the extra xp, and forced to be a completionist whether you want to or not. There isn’t just one thing that will give you sufficient xp to help you along. You have to do it all.
I already have a level 80, working on leveling an alt at the moment. When I finally hit 80, I had over 60% map completion. Because I had to constantly go back and do lower level areas to get enough xp to proceed onto the next higher level area. Now, I am doing the exact same thing on my alt. Everything I did on my first 80, I have to do all over again.
There is no “go to new areas to get a new experience”, as I still have to do all those areas any ways like I did before in order to progress. I get told all the time to go do other race starter areas if I am underleveled. I thought the point of having different race areas was for a new experience with that race? Not much of a new experience if I have to do those areas on every character just to get the xp to progress.
Another issue, I’m a night owl. I play at the times when barely anyone else is online. So there isn’t much in the way of knocking out Dynamic Events. So most of the time, I’m running solo cause barely anyone is around. And when you come across those elite events that require big groups, you just can’t do them. Or you come across areas that would have events, but they are on a constant farm that they never change.
I just feel that the amount of xp you are rewarded for doing things, should be increased by a lot. I’m almost hesitant to say that it feels like a cash grab with xp being so low, because of the new xp boosters giving 50% xp now. No one should have to be forced to do everything just to barely make enough xp to progress. I mean, I had to clear 3 15-25 areas, just to move onto a 25-30 area. Because I wasn’t making enough xp per zone to continue onto the next area. It shouldn’t be like that. You should be able to clear a 15-25 zone, and then move right into a 25-30 zone with no problems.
the trick is, every time the story takes you to a new area, get 100% completion in that area before you move on with the story. i have done this and ill be level 80 in under 2 week of starting the game as a new player(as in i have never played gw2 before, this is my first character), and have never been under leveled so far when moving on with the story to a new area(im currently level 71). the only problem i have run into is that a lot of my gear is crap but that dont really matter until level 80 really.
and guild hopping for complete self gain is fine.
Because being social is the worst thing in the entire world, right?
Sorry, but if my GL decides he wants to be a kitten and dictate who I can and can’t talk to in game, he can do without me in his guild. I don’t have time for some whiney basement dweller to flex his kitten and try to show me who’s boss whenever I decide I want to pop over and help my RL friend guild or chat with that strange little RP guild that hovers around some tavern in Divinity’s Reach.
If folks are willing to break up with significant others and divorce spouses for such insane overbearing behavior, you can bet they’ll be more than willing to drop a guild over it in a heartbeat.
this discussion has nothing to do with being allowed to talk to other guild members. only an idiot would not let their guild members talk to nonmembers. idk what guild you are talking about but that kind of behavior is not common for single rep guilds.
no. that would ruin the game and fracture the community for real.
they need to figure out swg style player housing imo. being able to have your own guild city is pretty awesome, besides instanced housing is pretty lame.
In-game income.
Extra time they spend in a dungeon is time they could’ve spent getting more money somewhere else, in addition to the fixed amount they’d get from the dungeon. Meaning, you’re wasting time they could be using to be somewhere else, and all associated incomes, in order to get income yourself.
Because you are a leecher.Yeah, you’re one of those people that suck the fun out of everything. “Time” is the ultimate value to you.
I have to wonder how does a person like you become interested in gaming?
By nature, gaming is a ‘huge waste of time’ that you could spend doing something infinitely more valuable.
If entertainment is your pursuit, you’re certainly wasting your time by focusing on an inferior method to that end.
Even more so in something like an MMO where other people inevitably have an irrecoverable measure of control in regards to your expenses (time).
You’re cheating yourself, brah.
but dude, if he dont get that 2 minutes of imaginary income his life will end, his house will get repo’ed due to lack of copper and silver coins, and his wife will leave him for being a guildwars2 failure!!!
The current guild system lets guilds stand on their own merits. And now we find that just like IRL politics, the people who want to be in charge are usually the people who shouldn’t be. Most guilds can’t stand on their own legs, they need mechanics to push people into them. Just like most work teams don’t spend much time with each other outside of work. Not being work is a great feature of GW2.
Yeah, yeah, endgame grind does make me want to spork my eyes out occasionally. But if you just want to play you can just play and be decently prepared for whatever you come across.
idk about your guild but the guild im in has never wanted people pushed into our guild, we only want people who want to be in our guild, which if your running around with another guild tag on you obviously dont want to be in our guild very much.
Not only did you ignore half of my argument for the first quote in your post, you’re trying to shift the point of interest of the boss off the person deciding who goes on the run to the dungeon, which shows you’re grasping at straws.
As I said earlier, I will not be trolled into your opinion, and I will not be posting back. Until I am paid, BY THE PARTY LEADER, to not put on MF gear, I will be wearing it until I decide to take it off.
And what exactly did I ignore, other than your unwillingness to realize that math proves Berserker’s is better in combat than Explorer’s?
And you, by the way, completely missed the point of the metaphor, which is that compared to a workplace it’s completely backwards, in that someone is explicitly getting paid more BECAUSE they do less work.the flaw in your argument is that people in mf gear do not do less work. they would actually have to do more work because they have less survivability/dps.
And so does everyone else. A solo person chooses to do more work for more reward, but in a group, they’re choosing to make their whole group do more work so they alone can get rewarded for it, because they made their work less effective.
OMG you have to push a button 2 extra times the horrible extra work!!!! seriously if you have this much problem with what gear people wear you should quit mmo’s and play single player games. hell if your gonna complain this much about a dungeon taking an extra minute or two you should probably quit playing games altogether because you obviously dont have the time to play, so go back to shirtless flexing in the mirror.
Even if it’s not much, the fact of the matter is you are wasting other peoples’ time, and by extension their income, in order to line your own pocket, when you use MF.
People you are supposed to be cooperating with.
That is the very definition of leeching.income? last i checked this game had no subscription fee, unless im special and they waived the sub fee for me without telling me. and really, if you cant spare an extra minute or two you should probably not be playing video games if your 2 extra minutes are that important.
In-game income.

idk how i am a leecher? i have never even owned a piece of gear with mf on it. but im not some lifeless dbag who thinks ingame income of 2 minutes is deathly important to the point that i will discriminate against people because of how they like to play or gear their toons. i play the game to have fun, not to worry about a couple silver pixels, because the point of playing videogames is to have fun not count and stress out over imaginary money. and the most pathetic part is the stupid mf gear has no tangible benefit or drawback. sure it does on paper but not enough to actually matter in game. hell you can make air look poisonous on paper by running the numbers, but when you go outside do you fall over and die from breathing?
(edited by Rikimeru Tokesbudz.3816)
The multi-guild system is useless and designed for guild-kittens (term for the sexually-generous.) You don’t generally want to be heaped in with some of those people constantly trying and hoping to keep their attention on your guild all the time. You want a one member, one guild locked relationship.
Let’s amend this statement, shall we? YOU, as a guild leader for a SRS BSNS guild, want your members on a one member/one guild locked relationship, so that you can reap the full benefits of all my playtime. Even that playtime which is spent with friends other than the folks in your own guild, doing things other than the SRS BSNS your guild is aiming for. What you want is for me to dedicate my time to your ends, and to Torment with me if I want to do something other than dungeon-run for seven hours and put all my drops/gold in the guild bank for you.
As a player of the game rather than the leader of a SRS BSNS guild (hint: there’s a lot more of me than there are of you), I really enjoy the multi-guilding system. One thing it allows for that no one’s given it real credit for yet, at least in this thread, is a Try Before You Buy system. I’m currently in a smallish guild of casuals who do PvE work, jump puzzles, the occasional dungeon run, and just hang out. They’re a cool bunch, and I’m glad I met them, but I only did because of multi-guilding. Multi-guilding means I don’t have to treat my guild as a precious decision to be made Once And Only Once – I can get an invite from a couple of cool folks I meet in the world and go “A’ight, why not?” It is a system which allows me to – GASP! – make friends where I would otherwise be forced to be insular and standoffish out of fear of ‘wasting’ my one-and-only-one guild spot. The social issues are not inherent in the system, but are instead inherent in selfish guild leaders who feel as if the mere gift of their guild tag means they have a majority stake in your game account.
Perhaps, if your players are constantly representing someone else’s guild and generally staying clear of yours, it’s on your head as a guild leader to try and convince them to help you out, prove to them that you’re worth their time, instead of on theirs to get themselves back into your slave pens like proper little influence monkeys?
actually the one guild policy builds strong tight knit guilds. mulitguild policy creates an atmosphere of disposable guilds that you throw in the trash once you get what you want. if you like that fine multi guild away but dont kitten when others dont like it and dont allow it in their guild. the guild im in has always had a one guild policy, and it has been around for at least 10 years now, and survived the jump to multiple new games. nobody is saying you shouldnt use the multiguild system if you want to, but dont kitten because some guilds dont want to use it. not all guilds want to be a nonfactor disposable guild(sorry for the generalization, but imo its appropriate with the way the multiguild system works) .
