I think a lot of SBI people just aren’t playing WvW this week. I know I’m not. It’s simply not fun the way it’s set up now.
The only problem with the point ratio idea (which I generally like) is that a winning server can use it to just log out and screw the losing server trying to gain back points.
The person saying that no camps exchanged hands between ET & SBI on the first day in EB are just wrong. ET constantly went down through ogre camp to take out Umberland. They just weren’t really able to push further. There was always a push/pull in the area between Ogrewatch and Umberland. We on SBI just chose not to push Ogrewatch but keep a defense at the ogre camp to keep ET at bay while we focused on HoD.
I think 4 days would be good for now. 1 week is too long at this point in time. I think most people on our server pretty much stopped playing on Tuesday.
What stops people from buying a second account for the game and continuing this practice?
I think we lost many players to the Pandas as well as people just not wanting to play until match reset. There have been no queues on SBI all day. And when I was in this evening, I didn’t see the normal crowd. Looked to be a lot of new people there. No commanders and no leadership in chat.
Yes, but the current situation is not fun. People don’t like working theirkitten off only to wake up in the morning to see it was all for nothing.
I think that Ascii’s idea for % of points based on population is a good one. I thought of the same thing. Also, if the issue IS NOT population (as other HoD posters try to claim), then this wouldn’t affect anything, would it?
If something isn’t done soon, then people will give up on WvW altogether. Frankly, I’m already tired of playing Henge, but I don’t think there is any other server that can really challenge us (SBI). It’s maddening when we have people who feel they have to stay awake 24+ hours just to have any sort of chance to counter their massive population.
Judging by the current situation, we did exactly what needed to be done.
See, the thing is we always knew HoD was the bigger threat, regardless of where their placement was over the weekend. We knew that once the week started and most of us on SBI are at work or whatever, that HoD would be able to gain points back quickly. That was why we were focusing so heavily on HoD. We knew that ET wasn’t really a threat at all. There was never an alliance between us. We just wanted to suppress as many HoD points as we could. I don’t understand why people think that this was unfair or bad tactics… So, we should actually just let HoD steamroll us to focus on ET?
As of right now, it appears that either ET has given up completely or they have a worse non-weekend presence than SBI does. HoD is running rampant on all maps gaining points swiftly. ET is almost completely wiped off all maps. Things look grim for ET and SBI at this point in time unless something is done to knock points from HoD.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

Yes, please fix this. I get way too tired of dying due to not being able to see the 30+ enemies coming at me.
Good lord, we have no alliance with HoD. There was always some weird push and pull between SBI and JQ between Ogrewatch and Durios that never seemed to want to go away, but it was never anything coordinated with HoD. Some of us even tried to back off and get you guys (JQ) to fight with HoD so we could focus on HoD as well, but you just kept coming back to us, so people got butthurt and felt they needed to retaliate. With the way things were going, we could say that it seemed like JQ had an alliance with HoD (I am NOT saying that), with the way we would get hit by JQ at Umber/Durios at the same time we were getting hit by HoD at QL/Dane.
I think that drops in general in WvW were nerfed. I seem to only get consistent loot bags for killing non players in the map, ironically enough. I am not getting many bags from killing players lately (but I know I get the kill because I get the fairly worthless xp).
It would have been nice if they’d had a few servers that were designated as PvE only that didn’t have WvW at all, so all the whiners who hate pvp and kitten about it could just go there. What’s the point of GW2 if you aren’t going to pvp? Frankly, the PvE kinda sucks (love the PVP though).
The problem really is that these are stories based on your race vs your profession, and there’s not tuning for someone who is a squishy elementalist or whatever. My main is an elementalist and I specc’d her for support for group play in WvW or dungeons, which means I pretty much can’t do much of anything solo. Also, mobs instantly go for the eles for some reason, so it makes everything even more frustrating. I can literally be standing there doing nothing and the mobs swarm me, while the husband is beating on them and they ignore him (we just did that to test it out). I don’t think I could have done most of the story quests if I hadn’t had a partner (hubby). I know that one in the queen’s throne room where you have little room to kite, I was naked by the end when I solo’d it. I only finished it because I found a place I could get on the rocks that caused the mobs to run back and forth if I jumped between two different places in the area. Otherwise, there was really no way to do it.
Since I leveled my ele to 80, I’ve played several other classes (including the so-called broken necro), and they have all been significantly easier.
Their idea that with free transfers people will go to less populated servers to give a more competitive environment just flies in the face of the gamer mindsets now. What is happening with the free transfers is that everyone just jumps to the winning server. Gee, why do you think HoD has such a high population compared to everyone else? Even though we’re staying somewhat competitive, you can even see it on SBI. We have had no queues the last few days during primetime. I guess people got sick of the 50 man HoD zergs and just gave up. Also, we don’t have the night-time presence that HoD has, so whatever our daytime crew wins back is swiftly lost to the HoD insane population over night.
I’m not sure why they just can’t evenly limit the populations. Let people in 1-2 at a time per world to keep the maps balanced. Yeah, it’d suck if you’re on the server with 8 million people and have to queue even longer, but then maybe it would encouarge you to transfer to a lower pop server. The ‘outmanned’ buff just isn’t cutting it.
I also stress that they need to let you retain your guild stuff if you transfer. Losing it and having to start over after a transfer really really sucks. People with lots of guild upgrades aren’t going to transfer, and it’s likely some of those bigger guilds who you would want to do it.
The elementalist is my main, but I agree with the OP that it needs some serious work. Most of the other toons are SO much easier to play. They made eles too squishy with a nerf they did during beta and never buffed us back up. I’m sure certain specs are tougher, which is fine, but I’m specc’d as much into healing as I can for support in dungeons/pvp. Many of the medium armor profs have much more dps than the ele along with much higher survivability.
Guild: Dominion Elite
Server: Stormbluff Isle
We lost guild workshop from the queue. It’s in our history that we queued it, and it charged us, but it disappeared from the build queue. Prettykitten off quite frankly, since we had to start over with our guild upgrades when we transferred servers.
We transferred to a new server last night and lost all of our guild points and upgrades. Is this intentional or a bug?
