Been carried to victory in the hall of heroes. ^^
“maybe it isnt the game for you” is ok if there’s only a few people, they are new to the game. but when there’s alot of people you are using it on then the problem is probably the game. when you say something like that you are basically saying everyone else is ok with it. but when you have alot of people you are saying that to then that is clearly not the case… i can say the same about you maybe its just you thats ok with the game while the vast majority of others have problems with it.
and why does this game have to be not for anyone? why can they not want the game to be made for them? the comment is quite stupid especially when the game used to be the one for them and by all rights should have been. people wanted this game to be the one for them, something wrong??
I’m gonna say no, maybe allow preset templates, but the money sink really needs to be in there. In the last half month alone inflation has become a joke, the perma hair stylist has gone up 700 gold from 2k. A lot of the legendary weapons are seeing spikes as well. And the price change in silk cloth (granted it is due to ascended gear) is a joke, from around 6 copper to 1 silver 8 copper per scrap in a matter of days.
Bring back the templates, but keep the costs of resetting the points. Perhaps even add more gold sinks in (like a barber that’s 5g a cut for a level 80).
You said it yourself. The large price swing is really due to changes in the game. This will always happen. There are items that have huge demand and there are items with not so much demand. Ecto price have largely remained constan, orichalcum ore and ancient wood have not changed much since the year I have been away.
There are not that many people with 700 gold to spend on a perma hair stylist. The examples you gave isnt inflation, its demand change and supply issue.
The biggest gold sink is the way points & trading post, not the skill changer.
The gold sinks dont matter much to the rich – those who can afford 700 gold, but it will make game worse for the casual and poor people.
what do you think will happen if they raised the taxes in real life?
I made this post for the skill system not really the gold sinks. the cost for armor outweight the fee you get charged by far and thats not a gold sink.
exactly I was wondering why this wasnt fixed after more than a year. people were asking since the very beginning for better filters.
and there are also bugs not fixed and more =(
Can we please please have the skill templates back? maybe even let us hotkey them? its really nice not having to click all the time.
it’d also be really nice if the templates can include the traits allocation as well. as it stands the skills system discourages change. its so annoying to do and you even get charged a fee for changing traits… not to mention the stats for the armor will idealy be changed as well which involve a large cost also.
can we please make it easier to change builds?
also, weapon set changes would also be very very welcome. but to put a priority. skill template has it.

I am a casual player predominately PvE. I play normally between 6-12pm for a few hours, Mon-Fri and random times Sat-Sun.
I am looking for an Australian guild or a guild in similar time zones – GMT +10 (PST +17) that is helpful. I am happy to help out where needed.
Currently on Darkhaven
I have been playing GW2 for a little while now and Im finding that the control is a bit painful to use.
How do you guys set up your controls? what do you use your mouse for, what do you use your keyboard for and which keys you use?
I have heard gaming mouse is really good once you get used to the new layout but I dont really want to have to buy one. The game shouldnt require you to use one to be able to control things properly.
right now im just using the default with a few extra shortcut keys.
Imagine youre sitting in room with 15 other people. Suddenly, the room starts to stink and pretty much everyone agrees it’s a terrible smell. One guy gets up and apologizes for kitten himself, and he goes to clean himself up. When you see him walking back, he’s opening windows and spraying air freshener. That’s when you say “Hey everyone, it really stinks in here!”
Yeah, that’s kinda what this post is.
i think you are getting the wrong idea. people want to be heard, want to see changes. this is what drives them. people should always express their opinions.
Hopefully, at some point FotM is going to become a bore or people will obtain every item in there. Then they’ll start roaming around again. Though it would be helpful if Anet puts some new content in Orr and other zones to get some map activity.
no…when they get bored of that and have everything they need, they will go pvp and occasionaly helping friends or leave the game.
would really like to see
a very interesting idea. really like to see this implemented in some form.
i think you rarely see much public chat.
and we really do need a function for the people that are looking for dungeon groups
how else are we going to find people? the whole idea of an online game is to have lots of people to play with. whats the point if you cant reach out to them?
im necro and cant seem to figure out how to get to that skill point without relying on luck and many tries.
does anyone know the trick for this skill point?
I played WoW for years, too (until GW2 came, and played GW1 as break from wow). But WoW had many carrots on a stick: farming raids for better gear, weapons. Dungeons for achievs, rare mounts, legendary weps, arena ranking with horrible pvp…
Those aren’t carrots on sticks. Those are smelly gym socks on slinkies. I’m glad there’s no such thing as raid farming and super-uber-only-ten-people-will-ever-get-them items. It makes the game a pain for casual players since they know they won’t ever get the chance at the “cool” stuff.
umm…there’s no way a “casual” player will get anywhere near legendary weapons unless you go tonnes of real money. and right lets make a legendary weapon that’s super hard to get suck big time so there arent really worth going for…HUH?
The skill point at the statue of melandru in Malchor’s Leap has a constant bombardment for the area. Is there a way to remove it?
you can kill the monsters there but you cant channel to get the skill point because you get hit every 2-3 seconds by bombardment.
The personal stories are not very hard. its quite possible to do it under lvl by 3 or so. A problem i dont like is that there are too many monsters that are very buff. takes too long to kill and gets boring and frustrating.
you cant nerf the difficulty just because there are people finding it difficult. an easy mode would be really nice though so all can get through.
got it because gw1 impressed the hell out of me. it was unique, it was fun, it was a beauty. i think i really miss it now. would if they would keep the server up or make a patch for offline only?
i dont mind a single boss having a very high hp. but having so many smaller bosses and monsters along the way that have very high hp is just time wasting and not fun.
I agree with OP and Smelly Bookah
i really liked the gw1 skill and profession system. the dungeons and missions are much more fun as well.
in any game as people play more, new players join, people gradually find out better ways to make money, inflation will naturally occur. You cant possibly have a gold sink big enough to absorb all the extra gold. inflation is ok as long as it does not continue to rise non-stop at a really fast pace.
a good trick to control excessive inflation could be to create different incentives so there will be people that want to do both or either one way, rather than not allowing people to do it at all or make one method completely worthless.
forcing people to play the game in only one way is not really good, allowing and encouraging people to learn new ways and problem solve is.
gw1 dungeons in eotn had different difficulties they not all that easy. does anyone like to explain why not everyone does every dungeon and some are ran more than others?
saying you can do it with an elbow is just show off. i’d like to see both your elbows on the keyboard, no fingers allowed, no mouse, go through the full run non-stop, do it properly, and do it well. i dont feel gw2 dungeon is harder either.
gold sellers will 100% lower the prices. and they have already fallen compared to the beginning of almost 1g to 1$.
its not like they have a shortage of gold to sell. there are multiple gold sellers too so they can even drive themselves down.
i dont like the higher gem prices but there’s nothing i can do about it. at least there’s plenty of incentives for arena net to kick out the bots and gold sellers.
im currently stuck at for trinity at the “defend the gate” portion after defending the logging camp. only the first group of undead spawns then nothing happens. im left standing around with the other npcs.
character sylvari
class guardian
lvl 67
entered instance before going into fort trinity. explored logging camp before entering instances. everything was fine up to the logging camp and killed the undead. it automatically came up as “defend the gate”.
i didnt follow the main crowd of npcs and took shortcut straight back to the gate. the first group of undead spawned and i kill them. nothing else spawns after that and just left standing around. After i killed the first group the a group of npcs runs up to the gate from the logging camp. Im thinking they fought and killed some undead on the way and i was not there. if that matters anything.
update: now got past that part. i let some defending npcs die and fought the undead later. i also died 2 times.

McWaffle. why dont you address the points he made rather than going on a personal assault? someone spend time to share his opinion and you get offended by him and tell him he should have ignored you if they are going to criticize.
i only watched the first video so far and he isnt wrong. healing 700 per 5 sec max down isnt very good. and you do that like every 20 30 sec?
you do a good job at dodging around and staying alive. you were not actually been targeted that much though.
i think you know what you are doing but support wise i dont think you are very effective.
well i notice fps only seem to drop heavily in tight spaces like caves, areas of lion’s arch with alot of things, areas where you can look very far and there are many things in the distance.
if you turn around and face the exit to your area your fps will be high. if you go right up to a wall your fps will lift and if you zoom in it will lift more
my fps is really ridiculous right now. no other game old or new performs this poorly.
to get 50+ fps i need to put the lowest setting which make age of empires 1 look great. seriously?
this is so frustrating.
is it possible for arena net to confirm what they think is the problem or if they dont know what it is yet? They say they need to reproduce the problem, can they specify what system spec they have tested and in what areas.
have anyone tried completely remove gw2 and reinstall? is it possible for that to work?
search for all sub category of consumables returns no results. only the “all” option works.
i think its more of an ethical issue and if its too cheap.
anything you can do to the enemy is a valid “tactic”
if it results in enemy getting killed and you taking less damage.

absolutely agree with op
I just love the thread title. “kinda” and “completely” make a great pair
Now that you mention it, that’s truly funny.
to the OP:
it is called a free economy ruled by mathematically challenged teens. Even without the phenomenon you describe, which in itself is hilariously funny – mental note: gotta try myself – people are still selling items way below their actual cost, as they are unable to add 1+1 together. The fact that I leveled several professions to 400 spending only half the money it would have taken me were I to make every component myself from raw materials tells a lot about the mental state of players and the resulting state of the market.
With every crafted item, it will always be a buyers market, as there are way more people doing the crafting, than there are players who would actually need the crafted items.. why would they? Leveling a craft to 400 only takes like a few hours and some minimal gold investment after all and then they can make their items cheaper while also gain about 10 levels in the process.
The fact that you are complaining about the prices of cooking items is extra spicy, to stick with the theme. Cooking is the laughing stock of all the professions of the game. Even the most useful crafts: lv400 MF food are trivial to make and require virtually no effort on the side of the person making it.
You get the recipes for free, you get the required materials in abundance and to top it all off, the bonus it gives is kinda ridiculous anyway, so even if you do not use those food buffs, you will feel virtually no difference.
You want to make money off the BLT? Stop looking at crafted stuff, and start trading. Abusing the same stupidity you observed so keenly will net you way more money on the long run (or even on the short run), than trying to make pennies on crafting worthless junk (food).
Alternatively, you can be a nice drone like so many others and grind your way to richness. See you when you get there, in 5 to 10 years.
this is not necessarily the case. its not that people cannot do the math its that people do not care and they want to get rid of it asap. they are not doing it for profit. if they are they would definitely do the math and realise its not worth it. you are way too arrogant.
and the OP’s scenario will only work with items with very low demand and no standing orders. otherwise as soon as he sells it will get auto snatched. it is possible to catch people off guard with this but i cant see this as the reason all the items are been sold low.
and when your inventory is full and there are no merchant around people may choose to sell it to trading post at minimum price. there cant be many explanations.
FPS drops like a rock for a very specific area.

bandit cave still screwed gave me a headache at 10-15 fps im not even putting up high settings
Darkhaven Server
Currently representing “Panda Tower” and have been stuck with it for a while now.
Nothing happens when I click to represent someone else.
nvm i think i missed the point again and declare myself stupid since i cant delete that post or dont know how
The problem is just that there isn’t an even distribution of Oceanic players across all the servers; they’re just concentrated on a few. Which is understandable, given that they probably actually want to see people when they play. However, it is what is causing this point disparity issue. The best solution seems to be adding an Oceanic group of servers, as that wouldn’t infringe upon Oceanic players’ ability to play, but I’m not sure if ANet intends to do so.
I blame continuous free transfers with no limit or cooldown. 24 hour cooldown is not enough and frankly too late.
I can agree with this statement; all free transfers has done is compound the population disparity between servers, unfortunately. People have all consolidated to servers that were already winning instead of providing an even playing field. Servers like Kaineng and DR are left with minimal populations when they deserve a strong playerbase as much as any other server does.
i disagree with both of you. There is nothing wrong with the “disparity”. That is what makes the difference between a good team and a better team. You are just let down by other people that are not contributing. You feel it is unfair that you are always on the losing side because the server is full of people that are not contributing or not as good and there’s nothing you can do to change anything. But its perfectly right for people to group together and there will always be limitation on team size. The good people and the people that really care about it grouped together and not everyone will be able to get on their team. A team has already been formed so you have to play with the rest. This is hardly unfair or not right.
If you feel strongly about wvw you can still choose to switch servers with your friends. its ok. if your friends dont want to move then maybe they dont care as much or his group dont care as much. In which case they are part of the group you have choose to stay with and that is the limit of their abilities.
I can understand people wanting to be on the winning side but disparity is something that will always exist between different teams. its also not practical to restrict people to one server. at least i will be furious if they did that. i want to be able to play with a wide pool of players around the world not limited to the very small pool of one of the numerous servers.
There are alot of servers now so everyone one is more spread out. But you now have a much smaller population of partners to choose from. Isnt it possible to make playing across servers easier?
or is this something that will have to wait for the game to die down and they mix servers?
what ways are there to play with people of other servers? is it only available through character selection screen and change worlds? and i heard they are planning to charge people for doing that. if thats the case i wouldnt be able to switch very much not to mention the time it takes.
this is really frustrating when you are forced to choose between two things very important to you.
just happened to me too a few hours earlier. just as the event completion came up all sound ceased and an hallow alarm started to sound. it stayed even when i tabbed out of the game. had to shut the game down then it was fine.
any idea on the cause and updates?
he is saying repeating campaigns. repeating campaigns never gave any extra reward in gw1.
they could allow this in gw2 with the same no rewards.
but there are alot of little bits of instances so this will be a little different to implement. but i’d like this to be done also. it is a very nice option.
but i think i may be the minority since most people dont care about campaigns.
Hsinimod.5784 i have a very big bone to pick with you
You say this “I’m noticing a tone with many of those wanting a LFG tool. Impatience and a sort of attitude. Swear words and sarcasm.”
i have not seen any swear words in all the posts above. and what is impatient to you may not be impatient to others. when a majority of people cry that they want a more efficient way i dont think you can just say the majority are too impatient. i think impatient applies to the minority since it involves a comparison to the more patient. from my point of view you are a minority that has too much patience.
you say this: “You don’t simply say “give us this cause the others that don’t like it can ignore it”. It doesn’t work that way, and it belittles the situation. Or you don’t grasp the situation and think it is that simple.”
you realise the one who made that kind of statement in this thread is actually saying everyone should just ignore the extra spam they are getting it doesnt bother him.
ppl come from different backgrounds, live in different envirnoments, you cant possibly expect everyone to fully explain every single detail the way you want to. most people will just state their opinion in simple terms and will not bother to go into that much detail. you can try to explain things to them but you dont say everyone has to explain themselves fully. although that is very attractive to me but this is not the way things must be done. you have no right to demand everyone does what you think is right.
you say this: “Those who have personality types that are…. immature, they will group with the first person to take them. Or will accept the first “I’ll go” when asking for others. They never know others might do it different. They don’t know that they are the types others might be avoiding. So they don’t get it.”
i find this to be particularly ridiculous. phd psychologists can only make generalisations and guesses and cannot be 100% accurate. for some reason you can characterise large group of different people in with 100% accuracy with access to hardly any information about them other then the fact that you feel they are vocal and have a personality you dont like. do you at the very least acknowledge that people online tend to be more unreserved and behave differently than real life? and you quote somewhere basic psychology?
I completely disagree that a vocal person with personality will take just anyone and join any group. people will only do so when they do not have high requirements and do not feel strongly about it or that their own skill level is low. very very few will demand their team to be alot more skilled then they actually are. the people that feels strongly about it and have requirements will always check and qualify their team members. – that is there are enough players that satisfy their criteria for them to pick from.
you say this: "So my point is, the socially acceptable community members might not be chatting up a storm and socializing, but they end up able to avoid getting that random “worse PuG in the world” feeling every other run.
The simple act of talking allows people to weed each other out. Those that are the worst of the worst personalities, of course they don’t want that. They’ll be ignored for being what they are.
no the simple act of only saying LFG does not weed out anyone. people do not go off at another person straight off after joining party when they dont know anything. I’ve never ever seen any1 joining a party straight off and go (#$&^(#&$(@#&$*.
when the party spams lfg ppl can just client and join, and alot of cases people will just accept. i have done 5 or 6 straight through runs of a lvl 40 dungeon and no one asked any questions and nobody was of the type that goes (#$&(#$&*(#$&
the people that will ask questions can still ask questions even if there is a system. you just need the system not be completely automatic and randomly matches anyone.
what you say does not stand. a LFG function should be added for convenience. however, i do not support a completely automated one because i also like the option to qualify team mates. and i stress the word OPTION.
